Hotels with indoor pool in White Town / French Colony

"Visiting Pondicherry was in my bucket list. and we wanted to play tourists to the hilt. Exploring the French colony was one of them. The options of staying in the isolated area with private beach didn't appeal and we were on look out for something that would give us top class treatment and in the middle of white town. Promenade fitted the bill. And we did not regret it our choice. Promenades biggest lure is its vicinity to the Rock beach. U can wake up early in the morning and watch the Sunrise. All the white town attractions are walkable distance and you need not have a car for the same. The breakfast served is good and elaborate. Staff is polite and respectful. This is a senior citizen friendly and child-friendly hotel and they make arrangements for wheelchair whenever required. They could improve on the housekeeping and cleanliness. Overall a good experience."

"This hotel is absolutely magnificent! I was in India from NYC for business and went here as a weekend getaway with nice colleagues. This is without doubt THE BEST HOTEL IN PONDICHERRY. The staff were so helpful and pleasant, and the rooms were magnificent. The building was the Governor's Mansion form the 1700's until the 1950's and is infused with incredible history. It has been beautifully restored. I wish there were more information on the restoration and history prominently displayed, but if you ask for some literature or look at the back of the menu's there is a pretty good write up on it all. The food was superb! The location is perfect - right in the heart of the old beautiful french colonial quarter which is exactly where you want to be. We all left feeling we had an incredible stay and that the quality and beauty of the hotel was far and above what we paid. My only complaint is that one evening were seated by the waitress for dinner but then told that our table had actually been reserved and we had to go elsewhere. We all understand how a mixup like that can happen, but the restaurant manager was initially pretty unsympathetic to the fact that we had been sitting for 10 minutes, and were hotel guests. Eventually he pieced a new table together for us and all was fine but he could have handled it a little better. Anyway this place is simply magnificent. I cannot recommend it enough and If I ever returned here I would stay here again. All the staff must be commended on creating a lovely hotel! "
