The very best selling point of Kampung Tok Senik Hotel is that, the whole resort is fundamentally an entire kampung. The undulating landscape is superbly designed and well kept. Trees are aplenty and they keep the place cool. Air-conditioning is not necessary. Actually, we turned off the air-con early in the morning to enjoy the fresh and invigorating air that is full of ions. Yeah, natural air beats the best ionized-equipped air-con. The kampung place is equipped with modern facilities. The kerosene lamps are just camouflages, with Thomas Edison's famous invention installed. The switches to lights and fans are exactly the same as those found in my grandpa's house. At first, I was wondering, is there a well in the bathroom? Hah..hah.. of course not. The bathroom is nothing of a surprise, but a typical hotel-esque bathroom. I read some reviews about the hotel beforehand. Some people found it very dark at night with insufficient lightings. Well, most probably, my mom came from a kampung, I spent my childhood visiting my grandparents in a kampung. I don't find it as dark as the descriptions posted by other hotel guests. In fact, when I drove back to the hotel at 10pm, I even told my parents, "aiyah, there's still street lamps, who said dark?" Nonetheless, the well-paved kampung road is quite narrow, for those who used to drive on highways in big cities. Again, I'm used to the kampung road. Most part of the road only allows 1 car at a time. If there's an oncoming car, er... one of you have to give way and reverse to a wider part of the road to make way. And, the road leading to our "house" is a no outlet road, or a dead-end road. I had to reverse my car every time we left our "house". Fun, isn't it? Ah... that's the unique theme of Kampung Tok Senik Hotel. City mouse like me loves Kampung Tok Senik Hotel very much. It's something very special and representative of Malaysia, unlike beach resorts and mountain resorts that are ubiquitous

super authentic & Malayan!”

We are a Malaysian/German couple. We had a fantastic stay at Rumah Harun of Kampung Tok Senik - geckos are pretty interactive (don't worry, geckos are tame & totally harmless despite their size!), paddy & forest breeze is rejuvenating, and the best thing is daily Sunshine morning call! This place is a wonderful choice if you are looking for an authentic & local experience in Malaysia. Although it is not by the seaside, it takes only 15 - 20 minutes drive to Cenang Beach. Some might find this place 'spooky' at night but honestly, it is just 'very village' - dim light, quite, not happening and some sound of the nature (geckos, bugs suchlike) everywhere. In general, we spent our morning doing actions i.e canopy adventure, mangrove kayaking, waker skiing etc, and then back to the resort, took a shower and afternoon power nap before our evenings. If you rent a car, Kampung Tok Senik is really not far off anything (15 - 25 minutes drive in average). One of our best experiences in Langkawi!

Quiet, natural setting, Kampung style”

we stayed for 5 days and selected this hotel because of the low price and kampung style. when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find the traditional style cabins spread out on lush hills. we used the rest of our budget to rent a car (if you are only two people, rent a motorbike), which is a must in order to explore the island. this is a great location to be away from the commercialism of pantai cenang and kuah town, but you are just a short drive away from all points on the island. tok senik allows you to see langkawi from more of a local perspective. we got to see them cut the rubber tree to drain the rubber sap, my kids were out in nature (we came from beijing), and the kids' pool with slide was a favorite. bring bug spray. true that there were not many people around and the place is not pristine, but we enjoy rustic and quiet. we chose to buy cereal and milk and have breakfast in our rooms instead of buying the breakfast options. with three small children, we just needed to get up and go, and they don't eat much anyway. there is a very clean local buffet-style malay restaurant down the road which you should check out: local prices with friendly local people. food is spicy- kids ate rice and fish. tok senik is a great if you want a starting point to see the whole island; if you want to just stay on the beach, book another resort. and if you want a kitchen, etc., google "homestays in langkawi". the cheapest houses are night. it would have been nice to have a kitchen and washing machine.

the best feature of this resort hotel is to offer traditional Malay style accomodation with nice comfort in a very beautiful and quiet landscape with a lot of trees, well maintained, not to mention the beautifull and nice swimming pool: it is so different from the other beach resorts, at a very affordable price. If I return to Langkawi, I shall return to this resort hotel, I will not look for another resort hotel. The best feature of langkawi may not be so much its beaches for scuba diving : it is more than anything its handicraft and geo rain forest parks, with the possibility to charter a boat to visit or go around some of the numerous nearby islands: therefore tok senik resort to me symbolize more the true malay spirit than some of the numerous beach resorts

The Beautiful old resort built in Authentic Malaysian style was a must for us to show our grown up children travelling with us . They were very Impressed by the Beautifully appointed rooms set amongst the Acres of land that is Kampung Tok Senik . The resort is a fair way from Cenang beach but hiring motorbikes makes it a lot easier to get around being approx a 10-15 minute ride into Cenang beach depending on traffic in this area . The rooms are basic but all that you need with hot showers tea and coffee supplied and basic tv with limited channels but we took along a laptop with netflix to aid in this . Also limited wifi available free . A good spot to go adventuring around the island to see its many attractions Seven wells waterfall , Cabcar cable car next to this also , Temurun waterfalls and five others on the Beautiful island that is Langkawi Agung Raya its highest mountain . Many more . Staff are very helpful and friendly . Pool is a great relief from heat Good value for money

As a Malaysian, I truly appreciate what Tok Senik Hotel represents: the traditional village living. The architecture is beautiful, the room is spacious and the swimming pool sits at the highest point of the hill, overlooking stunning greens. The streets are narrow and dark at night, but that's how it is living in the village. The interior is very decent, comfy enough bed and quite tastefully furnished for a traditional house. We stayed at "Rumah Zul", it's quite secluded and perched on top of a hill, where you can see paddy field from the balcony. I think this is one of the best place to stay in Langkawi at such price. If you miss the beach, you can always drive out. It will only take you 15-20minutes.

Extremely enjoyable stay”

A really peaceful and fantastic place to stay. If you want authentic Malay then this is the place. However if you want a westernised resort hotel which could be anywhere in SE Asia then this is not the place for you. We also stayed one week at the Mutiara Burau Bay (a western resort hotel!)but preferred the Tok Senik. We thought the inhouse restaurant was really good quality and value. In fact we liked it so much we ate there every night which is unusual for us. We really would recommend anyone who likes a traditional holiday to stay here. Not far from Kuah and a good central base to travel around the whole island.

Huge room with kampung taste”

When we first reach to Kampung Tok Senik hotel, we were quite surprise with the surrounding. Full of plants and trees around with room under different name. The best part is we can park our car outside the "room". In the room, there are switched which resemble to my grandparent's era. A black and round switch and we have never seen that for ages. Overall we are satisfied with the condition of the room.

Reasonable Price and Basic”

We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights. Generally, the resort was a bit rundown. It could be creepy for those who are afraid of dark and ghosts. The resort was desolate, quiet and serene. Traditional. We all loved it. We had two connecting rooms next to each other. The resort was fairly near to our favorite breakfast spot, Nasi Dagang Pak Malau. Though, we had to drive to commute to everywhere. It was convenient for us. However, everyone is encouraged to rent a car to stay in Kampung Tok Senik Hotel. Overall stay was OK. Neither the best nor horrible. If you expect a high-end and luxurious hotel, don’t stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn’t have breakfast included, not needed. Value for money.

We enjoyed during staying at Kampung Tok Senik Hotel nicely. The hotel is placed in a nice position and well decorated. At night, its takes anyone more closure,near and dear. Overall it is a nice hotel. Anyone will choose this hotel to stay. It will helpful to the visitors, car/bus transfer availibility by hotel management, if any.

Good hotel if want to get out of city noise!”

we stayed 10 days and place was near to kuah city. also airport was some km away from our place. with car you can go quick to anywhere in langkawi. rooms were nice and big, with air condition, fridge and shower. personal is friendly. wifi access only in lobby, there is no internet access in rooms :( from 10 it's 7 points to tok senik.

our relaxing stay at the kampung tok senik was exactly what we wanted, we agree the place is a little shabby in places but if the resort was renovated it would probably cost a lot more to stay there and might lose its rustic charm. we found the staff all very friendly and helpful. our room was very big with a lovely comfortable bed and we had no trouble with noisy neighbours,

Me and my wife stayed in Tok Senik for 3 nights, and we enjoy our stay very much. There are a lot of trees in the hotel, very few people because of the low season. The staffs are very friendly and the food there is very tasty. There is a big swim pool in the hotel, it's a nice pool. It's a really nice hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights before enjoying the Langkawi beaches in other hotel. We really enjoyed our stay at Tok Senik. Room is spacious, big bathroom with living room. Neat and clean. Nice and friendly staffs. If you wanna be alone in a 'village' kinda style or get away from the beach a bit, this hotel is a really good alternative. Don't go to this hotel if you're expecting beach environment. Ohh, don't forget to rent vehicle if you're planning to stay in here, as the location is a bit far from restaurants and other tourist attraction facilities.

A great village-styled resort”

This resort is great for those who loved the village style as challets are designed like the old-fashioned malay homes in Langkawi. My husband and I really enjoyed our honeymoon here. The resort suits our preference. Although it needs some maintenance works the rooms are in great condition and really spacious. We loved everything about Tok Senik. However, do bring more variety to the breakfast menu. Will come again next time and will be recommending anyone who wants or loves to experience living in a malay house of Langkawi.

Kampung Tok Senik review”

The Kampung Tok Senik Hotel was great value, with big majestic rooms and friendly staff. It was most likely a top line luxury hotel 10-20 years ago, and still has some great features such as big rooms with verandahs overlooking a plantation, and a pool with a slide and waterfall. However it is pretty quiet and having your own car is recommended if you want to get around the island or see other people. All in all good value.

Tipical malaysian surroundings, tasty food”

If you want to be in a tipical malaysian accomodation and surroundings, this is a very good choice, but mainly for couples prefering the romantic and calm places. The beach is about 10-15 minutes by car. This accomodation situated exactly the middle of the island, so every place can be reached by maximum 30 minutes driving. You can relax and enjoy the nature and the silence here! The kitchen of Tok Senik resort is really tasty and cheap. So the Value for Money is absolutely ok in this hotel! I can really offer!
