Nice place”
We stayed one night in this Kanazawa guest house East mountain. The place is cozy, clean, tidy. Even though it is quite strange to sleep when walls are so thin and you know that there is someone behind this wall (there are no lockers in the rooms) :) The place is about 15min walking distance from Kanazawa station, and about 10min to Kenrokuen gardens. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in Kanazawa guest house East Mountain.

1. Loop bus stop is just right at the corner of the street. (RL3 森山一丁目Moriyama 1-chome /or LL11 東山三丁目Higashiyama 3-chome) 2. 5-10 mins walk to Higashi Chaya District; 15-20 mins walk to Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle park. 3. The house is classical old Japanese one, very gorgeous. 4. Either u can take a bath in the guesthouse or u can go public bath house nearby (around 5 mins walk; 大和温泉) 5. The staff: Bansho san has been to Taiwan before and he can talk easy Chinese also.

I was really looking forward to staying in a traditional Japanese house. The room was good, futon very comfortable. Bathroom, toilet and kitchen very clean. The problem was that the walls are thin as paper and my room was next to a sitting room with a tv right next to the wall. Althought the staff were very friendly, they sat in the sitting room from the afternoon until midnight, with the tv on and their friends (or guests?), loudly chatting. I felt like they sit right next to my bed. I couldn't sleep as they were very loud. In my opinion, they should be conaiderate to their guests and keep the noise down after 10pm. If you are a light sleeper like me, I don't recommend it.

Clean , Jpn style hostel at nice location”
Very simple and location near the east mountain tea street, very good. I like it and japanese style hostel will sure give you extrodinary experience. Host was very friendly and helpful.

Would have loved to stay longer”
Stayed in the single room for only 1 night. Hostel owner was extremely friendly :) room is clean without any problem. Hostel is quiet after 12am so had a great rest. Location is perfect with short bus rides to all the tourist attraction. Will definitely come back here when I visit Kanazawa again!

Good value for money in great location ”
The hosts were very welcoming but unfortunately, this place lacked the practicality of the other hotels we stayed in Japan. Other hotels offered detailed maps of the surroundings (sites, restaurants, bus stops). We were also told that we could use the washing machine but that we had to go buy our own powder, and the host didn’t know whether her own machine had a drier option. There was nowhere for us to take meals either, as the room was small with no table. The living room had only one table which doubled as front desk... in saying this, it was very cheap to stay there. The house was clean, in a great location. We were able to rent bikes for the day and the host mentioned a great restaurant nearby which we went twice. It was an ok stay.

Common private house turned hostel. Live in teenage staff, very polite and helpful. Clean and comfortable facilities, although might feel small for the amount of people. Single room is really just a 2 meter tall panel covered space inside the bunk bed dorm. Not really one separate room. Overall the stay was ok.

we enjoyed our stay even though there was a noisy American family who were most of the time cooking and since the kitchen was right outside our room we could hear them all time. Our room didn't have a key to lock it, nevertheless we felt the place was safe, clean and overall nice. Towels would have been nice.

Fantastic place if you want to experience a real japanese home. Great location, quiet little street close to the city center and all the sights, train station is three bus stops away. Owners are extremely friendly and helpful.

The place was very clean and a great place for experiencing Japanese style accommodation. The owners are super nice, and the obaachan is absolutely sweet! Easy and quick access to all areas. Highly recommend it!

No one mans the place 10am to 4pm. Like we literally walked in and left our bags under some seats. The receptionist sleeps and showers there - there is only one toilet and one shower. If you have other noisy guests, the walls are literally paper thin. The worst place we stayed at in Japan.
