Good Hotel with nice onsen”
We took Kamenoi bus from beppu station west exit to Umijikokumae bus stop (330yen), then cross the road and walk to the right (downhill). Then you will find entrance of Oniyama Hotel. There is also another entrance at the opposite side of hotel if you leave the bus at Kannawa bus stop. The staff can speak english very well. Our room is 'Japanese Style Room with Private Bathroom' which has bathroom and toilet. From window, you can see Umijikoku entrance and beautiful mountain view. The public onsen is wonderful and peaceful. We also try free family bath (can use if it's available, no reservatoin) which is private but small and no view). Dinner is good. We informed them in advance that we don't eat beef and they provided other choices. Breakfast is buffet which all you can eat. Mostly are japanese style. If it's peak time, you might need to wait in queue. Hotel provide free shuttle bus from Hotel to Beppu train station at 10AM which need to make reservation in advance. Only 1 trip.

Fantastic Hotel”
This hotel is located at Kannawa, U need to take Kamenoi bus to Kannawa if you are arriving at Beppu train station. This hotel is located at the central of most of the Jigokus (tourist spots), all within walking distance. The staffs are friendly, I got greeted by a mandarin speaking girl during check-in as they noticed that i can speak mandarin. The girl (沈昱君小姐) was very friendly and she showed me all the facilities of the hotel and led me to my room. The single room was spacious, all the facilities were good, so did the outstanding meals. The hotel even arranged a free shuttle bus service to Beppu train station the next morning after i check-out. This hotel is definitely worth to the amount i paid. Will definitely come back to this hotel again.

Old but clean and very good service by the staff”
The building was a little bit old and the room are quite small for 4 after all the futons was set up. It is very clean and slightly remodelled the room. Outdoor onsen was great. You will feel like an VIP when you check in as the staff will explain everything to you and bring you to the room and valet parking for you. They charge for parking fee without notice. Overall experience was great just a little run down.

Convenient location @ very good price”
The location is great, we can walk to the a few of the major springs fountains. The meals are decent at first night, the 2nd night was close but not as diverse as 1st night. There are a few hot spring in hotel are quite good, strongly recommend the roof top and private one.

Really nice hotel!”
A somewhat old building, but clean and with elegant touches. Room was spacious. It has two main baths, both of which are wonderful--an atmospheric large pool, and a rooftop bath with a great view, right underneath the hotel's big neon sign. Breakfast was tasty. Helpful staff guided me to my room and explained everything. Not exactly a resort hotel, it has a more laid-back feel like a lot of Beppu, but a very enjoyable stay.

Staff is nice and helpful”
The hotel staff was eager to give advices on what to visit in Beppu and gave clear indication on what transport we could take to go to each spot. He even gave us coupons so we could get some of the entry tickets with discounts. The hotel may look a bit old fashioned but it was tidy and clean. Hot spring was great. I like that the room was quite spacious. One defect was that there were not convenient shops, supermarket or restaurants nearby. Other than that the hotel was great with reasonable price. Will recommend it to friends.

Great location ”
If you want Japanese feeling this is the right place. Both Onsen in fist floor and on the rooftop have a nice flair . Also a lot of attractions are around an reachable by food. Also the bus connections are not far away..

Hot spring its good”
Overall good , hotspring beautiful view at 1st floor in the open air , we also try private hotspring for family.. you can also try it without booking but but if occupied we have to queue for a while . And we also try 6th floor there are several hot spring tubs in the open air when checking in there was a slight error the receptionist gave us the type of room that was not in accordance with what we ordered, fortunately we realized after seeing the room that was given was smaller than the photo on the website, so we complained and the receptionist immediately replaced us in a bigger room according to our book. Dinner is good , we choose kaiseki dinner ... traditional japanese dinner . Breakfast is also good

Hotel with very helpful staff”
Pros: 1) The front desk chief, Mr Won Seyeon, is an excellent staff. To apologize for a mistake made in the room, he straightaway upgrade us to a higher and bigger room. In addition, he was helpful and diligent to run thru our travel time and corrected a critical time in our travel ensuring that we did not miss our train.

Unclean Onsen Area”
Hotel itself is not bad, staff are very helpful and meals are good, however be weary of the Onsen area as after bathing it in, all 4 of us got a very bad rash and had to go to the hospital, turns out it was folliculitis (hot tub rash) and based on the doctor, the onsen had bacteria in it and was not properly treated with the right chemicals, leading to an infection.

dinner in room with surcharge”
the price is a bit high, Room is clean with convenient location. I am so so dissatisfied about dinner arrangement. you have to reserve in advance with paying fee (JPY1650) if you want to arrange for your dinner in your room. otherwise, you have dinner at restaurant. And extra fee JPY250 per night is required you to pay for hot spring even if you do not use their onsen facilities.

Above average”
Quite a commercial hotel, food is fair. The Kaiseki cuisine was not an enjoyable meal, seems they want us to finish quick and keep on putting all the dishes on the table which is comparatively small, though the table is already filled with yet to finish dishes. Very messy. Staff attitude is not comparable to all other hotels throughout our week stay in Kyushu.

Large hot spring”
The hot spring in the hotel is very large but the decoration is quite old

Decent ryokan, but would not consider it value for money”
Decent ryokan, but for the price we paid for it, I would not consider it good value. Baths were old and not properly maintained. Food was slightly above average, but more privacy would have been good (eg. Option of in-room meal, private dining room) instead of having the meal in a big hall. Overall, acceptable quality but considering the expense, would not return.

Hot springs galore”
This hotel was right where all the natural hot springs are and they have 3 different types of hot baths to choose from in the hotel itself. The room was spacious and clean and eventhough smoking is allowed in all rooms, we did not smell any trace of smoke smell in the room at all. They also leave little snacks for guests after they cleaned the room which was a nice touch. But be aware that they do charge an onsen tax during checkout but it is only 500 yen which is not too expensive.
