    Great Japan experience”

    Amazing hotel. Really nice and attentive staff. The only thing I did not understood was they only provided breakfast and dinner for the first three days of the stay. They were other guest having breakfast and dinner the other days. They deducted the missing meals from the final bill.

    Lovely place, lovely people”

    My older daughter and I, traveling to Iwakuni to visit my son, stayed at the Kappo Ryokan. Having never stayed in a Ryokan, I had no idea what to expect, and was very pleasantly surprised by the accommodations and the owners. This place is much like a bed and breakfast (and dinner), run by a husband and wife team. Though we had to rely on google translate (I speak no Japanese, and their English was only slightly better), we found our hosts to be very accommodating and eager to please. Though we weren't able to enjoy the included breakfast, we did have a fantastic dinner at the hotel. It must've been an 8-course dinner: by the end we were absolutely stuffed. The food presentation was outstanding and, while I'm no connoisseur of Japanese cuisine, it was very good. The location is directly across the street from the Kintaikyo (Kintai?) Bridge, so it couldn't be more convenient for touring Iwakuni. I would definitely stay here again, but would have google translate ready.
