Peaceful resort with excellent diving!”
We loved our 5 nights at Kawayan Holiday Resort. It's a very peaceful resort, on the cliff overlooking their house reef. Great sunsets to be enjoyed from the infinity pool (with bar). The staff are excellent, very attentive and good humoured. Jan and Cherry kept us entertained in the evenings! The food was great, with a different menu every evening. We did a SCUBA pool refresher and 7 dives with Joey, an excellent instructor and dive guide - thanks! Great life and colour on all the dives; we saw several sea turtles, lionfish, sea snakes, frogfish, triggerfish etc.. The dive boat is real luxury and they also have a newer boat under construction. Cherisa had fresh fruit and drinks ready when we came up the steps after each dive. The resort is to be commended for going plastic bottle free, refillable bottles provided. Our flight to Siquijor was cancelled at the last minute and the resort organised a chartered flight from Cebu, with van transfer on arrival. Highly recommended!

Tranquility at its best”
We stayed at Kawayan Holiday Resort for 5 nights and loved it. We were met at Siquijor jetty by the resort van. We were offered beer and/or cold water and fresh cold towels when we go into the van We were met and welcomed by the owners Silvio and Barbara. We stayed in a Deluxe Garden Villa. It was clean, cosy and comfortable. It was extremely quiet and peaceful, just what we wanted. It was lovely waking up to nature with the neighbour's roosters crowing and cows mooing. The swimming pool was clean. The grounds were well maintained. the young diving instructor was a pleasant bloke. I got sick while I was there and Barbara kindly gave me some aspirins and made sure that I had enough to get through. Their priority was for paying guests like us. Breakfast was served from 6:30 am to 11:00 am which was good as I wasn't an early riser. The restaurant staff were very helpful, though at times, there was a bit of communication problem. The food is quite pricey at this resort and I must admit that the servings are not very generous if you have a healthy appetite. I noticed that there was no TV in the restaurant which was brilliant.....this meant there was no noisy movies or soap operas going on while you were having a quiet meal. There's wifi in the restaurant area only even though when we booked our reservations, it said that there was wifi in the rooms. When we told Sylvio that we could not get wifi in our room, he did his best to try and accommodate us but still no luck due to the server itself. By now, hopefully the wifi works better. We just used the wifi when we were in the restaurant and it was good enough. The owners were very helpful and Sylvio went out of his way to get us our boat tickets for our return to Dumaguete. We would highly recommend this resort if you are looking for great service, friendliness and perfect tranquility. Thank you Kawayan Holiday Resort for making our stay a truly happy and memorable one.

An Amazing Experience”
We just came from the Kawayan Holiday Resort and we were just amazed with the out-of-this-world view of the sea and sunset, excellent location, world-class facilities, delicious food, and the generous/accommodating owners (Barbara and Silvio). Aside from all those, we would like to send a special shout-out to the staff who made our 3-night stay at the resort so very memorable. Thank you very much to Charisse, Cecil, Cherry and Jeraldine. You ladies treated us like royalties and made us not want to go. Sincerely Yours Rhoger and Eyal

One of a kind!”
All villas are marvelous, spacious and clean Real gems! The view from the cliff is astonishing as well as the reef at the bottom. The sunsets are exceptional! Manuel who is running the dive shop does a great job. Diving is good. Not a whole lot of fish but real good macro. Rental equipment is new and flawless. The pool and the restaurant are beautiful and nice to hang out. The girls in the restaurant are really nice and do a great job. Food is good. The choice is like in a small family owned restaurant, starters, main course, dessert, three of each to choose from. Since the place is in the middle of nowhere nobody except of the owner is bothering you. And this is the negative. Don't book this place on A..a. Orwell wrote: "some animals are more equal than others!" A..a is not appreciated by the owner even though he is in business with them. He will accept your booking, he will take your money, he will even charge you a little extra here and there, not much just enough that you know you are "2nd class" guests. Truth is I don't care about the money. I chose this place knowing food, drinks and service will come at a price. I'm fine with that! But I'm not with constantly being reminded that we are present to fill the owners wallet. "No problem at all it just comes at a certain price!" is the answer to pretty much every question! 1st time is funny, 2nd time is odd, 3rd time is annoying. If you want to charge me, name your price or even better print brochures which state your price. I will pay it if I choose to. I don't need to here your favorite sentence or see you roughing your staff! I'm on vacation! It's not surprising you are not getting along with the Filipinos. I just doubt it's them! People just have a hard time with you in general! Over all I must say, if I cut the owner out of the picture, we had a wonderful time. We will even come back, just not to Kawayan since cutting things out of memories is not my strong suite, I like to remember!

Perfect exclusive getaway”
I rarely leave reviews unless I have an exceptional stay, and this was a real treat. We were looking for as private and non-touristy a place as possible, basically the opposite of Boracay, and we arrived at this lovely resort that we had all to ourselves for a few days. We had planned touring the island but for the first two days just stayed in the resort and swam / snorkeled in the marine sanctuary below. The owners are very nice, helpful, environmentally conscious and are very thoughtful and detail oriented when it comes to customer service. The staff are very attentive and sweet. There is a nice pool and lounge chairs overlooking a cliff and the marine sanctuary below. To tour the island, we rented motor bikes. Sometimes I book 5 star resorts and am disappointed. This was one time I booked a 3 star resort and got a lot more than I bargained for. If I had to pick one downside, it would be that there is no beach. But having a marine sanctuary right in front makes up for that.

Very enjoyable place for divers and couples”
We stayed in ocean view cottage for 3 days which is definitely too little :) Enjoyed every last minute being there. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We are not divers and did not know it is a divers oriented resort. Regardless of that we enjoyed its facilities (nice pool, poolbar, great views) a lot. As the local diving instructor was very helpful, we decided try first time in life take a diving course and it was worth it! The bar has a very good selection of wines and beers, which is not too typical for Siquijor/Philippines. You can rent motorbike on site and explore the nearby fall, balete tree and towns. The owners have european roots, so know exactly how to make you feel like home if you are coming from Europe. Place is not suitable for families with small children or persons who like stay only on beach.

Nice Resort but Expensive”
This is an excellent resort situated on a cliff in the southwest of Siquijor island. I have experienced a very beautiful sunset and night sky here. Everything is perfect except some more service. This resort is very very far from town, most bicycle or tricycle are not willing to reach. The resort provide motor/tricycle rent but at thrice the normal price.

Awesome diving, dining and relaxing in an unique environment”
The Resort is placed on a cliff with an awesome view at the ocean. You can reach the house reef for diving by using the impressive steps down the cliff. The concept of the cottages is an high-class idea which follows as red line the over all concept of the resort. We did 3 guided dives and where perfectly satisfied with the equipment, the professional way of handling al security related aspects and at the end extreme impressed from the great nature at the dive spots. The contact to the whole stuff became like a friendship but still professional. It's the same withe the owner and his wife, who are very kind and helpful in each aspect! Based on that pretty fast we felt comfortable and familiar and descided to extend our stay for 2 extra days. Mostly I don't take much time for writing a feedback but in that case it's definitely justified and my thanks for the greate time! On last point i won't miss is the high quality of the food, with a daily changend menu for dinner! We will come back!

Just nice”
We stayed 5 days in this place. If you looking for silence and privacy it's a perfect place. Due to the size of this place it will be never overcrowded. Owner taking care on each single detail. We liked espc the outstanding view and the access to the seaside. It's worth to spend a little more and take the seaside villas. As we are divers we went each day with Manuel diving....alone.! He showed us very nice diving sides which are not visited from other resorts. Cool. Only area where to improve may a little is the food....the dishes arrive very nice decorated on your table but taste is averagely ....but sum up all together the place is 5 stars.

Superb accomodation and service”
Me, my mom, cousin and aunt went there on a july rainy weekend. Even though it was not sunny the view for us was still breathtaking. I'd like to come back for a sunnier weather in order to see its real majesty. The service is very good. Courteous and attentive staff. They even remembered our preference on coffee on the second morning. Automatic 2 sugar packets for my cousin and no milk for me. Cleanliness is a big thing in this hotel as the rooms are cleaned twice a day. Although it's a bit far away from the city, you can request for a tricycle to tour you around. For us we didn't want to go anywhere else. We went there for relaxation and relaxed there we did. :) This hotel is for people who want to be pampered and not bugged by vacation stress. It's a bit in the pricier end but it's all worth it.

Excellent Honeymoon venue”
My wife and I enjoyed our 3-day stay. The staff were very accommodating and the place itself is breathtaking. I will definitely recommend the place for romantic getaways. They also have everything you need - although internet connection was somehow intermittent. The location is also secluded so my wife and I were worried that we will end up by night time going to the resort.

Friendly local staff”
If your idea of a vacation is to be confronted by a hostile owner at 6:30am on the morning of checkout then I recommend paying a visit. If you’re of the opinion that 30k + pesos over four nights are better spent elsewhere then there are plenty of other options. It is unfortunate as the local staff and his wife/partner were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had dinner the previous night at a neighbouring resort during which time the scooter helmets were locked into a shop at closing time (tricycles can not get to the resort) - we had already informed the resort reception to retrieve them the following morning and have them sent back as no one had access in the evening. The owner confronted me on the front lawn as I was resolving the issue on the phone with an aggressive demeanour stating that we are not checking out until the helmets are back, or we pay for them. Not so much the issue of having to pay but the aggressive manner in which he approached, which told us something was very wrong. As we walked out he placed the payment machine in front of us without offering any assistance to resolve the issue. This resulted in an unpleasant verbal exchange which is not the way anyone would want to end their stay. Having read previous reviews it would seem this is not the first time, and expect nothing less than a patronising response. Apologies are always welcome though I suspect too much pride to have to overcome.

Thank you Titus from New Zealand. Thank you for blaming others for your own mistakes. Let's stay with the truth! As far as we know, the resort has let you rent a motorcycle with two helmets. Only a motorcycle without helmets came back from that! And clearly dear Titus from New Zealand, the resort or the owner is responsible for what you did wrong - logically. Especially if the guests want to leave without paying the lost / forgotten helmets, as it is written in the lease. Nobody wants guests to distribute the resort's inventory on the island and then blame the hotel for it - that's the last thing! Think about it. Maybe you think also about yout last sentence: "Apologies are always welcome though I suspect too much pride to have to overcome". And as we know, Titus was the only one who was aggressive and loud. Just to make that right!
Private, secluded and exclusive”
Overall it was good. Barbra (owner) agreed for us to transfer to another villa when our assigned villa, after many attempts, did not seem to have a functioning aircon. She ensured that while we were having our massage, the staff as supervised by her made sure all our stuff were transferred with precision. All items placed in same location as the old villa. By the way, our massage could be better had the therapist have warmer hands and have better techniques. It is worthy to mention that the massage did not deliver equitably to its pricing. On the food, it is definitely over priced, we would be more than happy to spend on food had it been more delicious. It was only okay, but since not value for money, we decided to try other resorts for our other dinner. On the staff, they are generally respectful and attentive to guests' needs.

Not up to expectations ”
As one of the most expensive “resorts” on this island, this place is not up to expectations for the price they are charging. Pros: Great view, nice room. Friendly and helpful staff. Refillable aluminium water bottle as your souvenir to take back. Good diving facilities. Plastic free environment. Cons: Transportation not included in price, no shuttle service to town Road leading to hotel is full of potholes and bumpy - not the fault of hotel though Location is very secluded with no beach Nearest beach is a fisherman’s village 10mins walk down the road but not clean to swim or tan As a small resort, the owners are not warm and welcoming Credit card payments incur an additional 5%fee Food is mediocre, drinks weak Only entertainment is one pool table Ants, insects and spiders in room Sea-facing villa views are blocked by plants Windows and doors are not sound proof No blackout curtains Breakfast is limited to only one set per person. Pay more for extras

However, we expected exactly that from you. Just ask us if you are allowed to stay for free, you would in return offer us a few sentences in your own blog! As we thankfully refused to let you stay for free, as you then did book in paid. From then we knew and it was immediately clear that you would write everything down as much as possible now because you had to pay for everything. We can live with it, especially as your consumption at the resort points to anything but not bad quality. Can you live with your lies? NOTE: Your blog is not worth reading, with 6 - 8 likes per article only!
Great for quiet destination getaway. ”
Small resort on a cliff above a good snorkeling site. Good quality food and attentive staff. Very quiet and relaxing. Best to come and stay. Do not count on diving as they require a minimum number of divers to go out on the boat. You will need a scooter to go anywhere away from the resort and brave the bumpy roads. 20 minutes to town, half of that unpaved. Public transport does not like to take you to this resort on the tricycle so bear that in mind coming and going. Bungalows very comfortable, outdoor bathroom/shower.

Nice place, stunning views but little remote”
It is an amazing please to stay and just relax, amazing room and landscape, however the price for dinner it is out of range, and also price for motorbike rental is high, 500php 8h against the 350php for 24h in the local market. If you are into diving they have excellent installations to enjoy your sport.
