The Kirketon was great”
All in all, my stay at the Kirketon Hotel was great. My friend and I were very impressed with how friendly and helpful all the employees were. And it was a nice walk from downtown Sydney--not too far at all! The King's Cross/Darlinghurst area that the hotel is located in has it's own fresh source of restaurants, shopping, and night spots. Our room was small, but it was still a very pleasant stay--comfortable bed and everything. My only complaint is that the shower is so dark when the curtain is closed!

Perfect for what I wanted.”
I was in town for a business trip, and was staying at the Westin (one of the nicest hotels in Sydney) on the company's dime. I decided to stay an extra day (wanted to get a Saturday night in) and so I moved to a more affordable place. The Kirketon is awesome -- small, but nice. No elevator, but you wont have to go up more than a few flights of stairs and the guys at reception will help you with your bags. There is a GREAT bar downstairs called Eau De Vie. It's expensive but legit. Beautiful people and crazy drinks -- I got a liquid nitrogen martini. At one point, a waitress opened a bottle of champagne with a sword for the table next to me. The room was small and there was no view from the window, so it's not really the kind of room you can chill in for a while, but you're right smack in Darlinghurst -- tons of cafes, restaurants, bars are all around. A few blocks walk from the bus that will take you to Bondi for a few bucks. A few blocks walk from King's Cross. Shower was nice and warm, bed was EXTREMELY comfortable, and there was a TV mounted up where the wall met the ceiling, great for TV watching before bed. Definitely would recommend this place to others and would stay there again!

Superior ”
My husband and I stayed at this quaint boutique hotel in Kings Crossing Sydney. The staff is exceptional, professional,and charming.. The rooms that we had each time arriving and departing Sydney where spacious and most comfortable . All the amenities of a refrigerator, microwave, safe, iron, and ironing board are located in the room. The location is perfect for all restaurants and you must check out the one 69 Café located on the corner right by the hotel. Ask for Max, or Nadia. Tell them Matt and Tim sent you. If you are taking a cruise there is van service from the hotel for a minimal charge. Location, Comfort, and Class awaits you at Kirketon Boutique Hotel.

Funky hotel for a good price”
I stayed for four nights at the Kirketon with my partner (we are both in our mid 20's). The Kirketon is very prompt at replying to emails, and the person at the front desk was extremely pleasant when we checked in. The Kirketon is in a great location, very close to the nightlife at Kings Cross, and also very close to many great eateries and small shops around Victoria St. If you don't mind doing a bit of walking, you can easily walk to the city centre and to see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge from the hotel. The hotel itself has been refurbished beautifully, but still shows a few signs of ageing. The rooms are quite small, and there is also no elevator if you have several bags. I would recommend the Kirketon as a hotel for singles or couples to stay, rather than families. I thought the hotel was excellent for the price, especially if you are after something a little bit different than a standard hotel room.

The Kirketon pretty much lived up to our expectations. It was in a fantastic location, very close to Kings Cross station and with the city at a walkable distance. Darlinghurst itself has some great cafes and restaurants very close to the hotel. The rooms are comfortable, beautifully decorated, although a little dark, which makes the small rooms feel really tiny. We had requested a quiet room as we had read complaints about the noise level from the bar. Our room was on the top floor, however we still heard the constant loud hum of an aircon unit outside and could also clearly hear the guests conversations in the room next door. And don't bring the car! They don't have any parking options, except a car wash across the road which offers 'Valet' parking for per day. They basically just park your car in the car wash car park. Overall however, the location and the price make the Kirketon an excellent option.

Stylish”
Kirketon Hotel is simply a beautiful place. Its interior is stylish and well designed. My room was spacious with a large mirror over a bed, which may have had that enlarging effect. I loved their toiletries - organic honey based shower gels etc from NZ. All in all it was a great choice in Darlinghurst!

great place - fantastic staff”
The Kirketon was a great place to stay mainly from The Kirketon's position. The Kirketon has a kinda sultry and moody style and has some very interesting art and decor styles - making it a great place to relax as well. The room at The Kirketon was a bit small but it made up for the size by being quite stylish - it had all of the amenities that I needed and the staff at The Kirketon were very friendly and helpful. The Kirketon is located close to all major sights and is easily accesible by train and bus. I would def stay there again.The Kirketon was a great breakaway for me.

Great little boutique hotel”
Loved our stay at the Kirketon. Our room was quite large as it was towards the back of the building so my Husband and I were pleasantly surprised. Room was clean & comfortable, vey quiet too. Would recommend this hotel as its in a great location with lots of shops & restaurants right at your doorstep. Prefer to stay at the Kirketon than a larger hotel chain. Will be back, thanks for a great stay.

Short break”
We met up with family for a three night stay at the kirketon, we were impressed with the ease of the checkin process alovely young gentleman took our bags up the stairs to our room( no lift as the building is heritage listed). The rooms are compact however we had plenty of space in the executive rooms. The hotel was so quiet it was hard to imagine that you where so close to the nightlife restaurants and entertainment of kings cross. We ate at Fu Manchu and also had a late night snack one night at Eau de vie the whole experience is wonderful.

My second time at The Kirketon Hotel and always love my stay because they offer everything you will need. The only comment I can give at this stay is that, I was given a different room than the one I booked and until I called the reception was when they offered to transfer me to the right one.

Kirketon Hotel November 2008”
The hotel is in a great location in the trendy and happening area of Darlinghurst and is conveniently located for good places to eat, and unusual shops. The staff were really welcoming and friendly and helped us up the stairs with our luggage (no lift!). Room was quite funky but a little small (with 2 weeks worth of luggage) but was perfectly adequate and with the exception of a bath, provided for all our needs and provided a good quality, value for money option for a short stay in Sydney.

The location is right in the heart of Darlinghurst with everything in walking distance. Emphasis on walking as parking is rare and expensive around here. I've stayed here before and the room was tiny. This time I booked the best of the 3 room types (was around $125.00 on special/room #304) and it was a good size, plenty of room with a separate sitting area and couch. Bathroom had a nice big clean bath. Would certainly stay here again at around this price point when available.

Interesting area”
Would definitely stay here again. The Kirketon is a small hotel with a very helpful friendly staff. Liked being so close to Kings Cross - its a really interesting area with such a variety of cafes. Have stayed in hotels right in the middle of Sydney on a number of occasions and have had to walk quite a distance to find somewhere to eat. The underground was really close by so no problems getting into the heart of the city or to the airport.

Great Location, Nice old building well-renovated”
The lobby bar is certainly the most impressive feature of this hotel that hits you right as soon as you walk in the door. The rooms are very nicely appointed, although the tiles in the bathroom could use a refresh. I liked the funky atmosphere - it fits perfectly with the Darlinghurst area which is probably the hotel's main drawcard - Darlinghurst and Surry Hills are where it's at in Sydney at the moment.

neat, clean, awesome location”
This is a lovely boutique hotel. My room was super quiet even though it overlooked Darlinghurst road. The windows are double or possibly triple glazed to lock out the noise. Nicely decorated with super comfortable bed and pillow. Sam was exceptional in reception and so were the rest of the staff. Nothing was problem for them. No lift and I was on the 2nd floor but it wasn't too bad a climb. A couple of mins walk to the cross. I would stay here again without a doubt.

A little gem in the heart of Sydney”
Had a fabulous stay at the Kirketon Hotel. A great location for walking to nearby Surrey Hills with its eclectic shops and restaurants. A real Neighbourhood feel with the extra benefit of being on top of the best cocktail bar I have visited. Not to be missed! Only downside was no lift so we had to lug our bags (no help either) up three flights of stairs. Otherwise a perfect stay. Would definitely return.

The Kirketon rocks! Great location, beautiful rooms, great value for money. The staff are friendly and I marvelled at how during my 7 night stay, the housekeeping staff managed to never interrupt me while I was in the room, and still have the room made up each day.

GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY”
Because of a number of fairly negative reviews, I was somewhat hesitant to book this room for my son and his partner, who needed to stay overnight in Sydney. However, the location was perfect, so I went ahead and booked an executive room that was offered at a remarkably good rate. I am so glad I did! My son and his partner raved about the friendliness of the staff, and reported that their room was extremely comfortable, clean and spacious. They couldn't have been happier!
