Romantic Getaway!”

We had a wonderful sty at the Laforet Club. Everything was clean, and beautifully presented. There were many hospitable touches, like the fresh socks and Yukatas daily. As well as a free shuttle to the station ( gora and ropeway ).The breakfast was phenomenal, with plenty of options for everyone. If you have the opportunity to book the private Onsen room, you should definitely do it. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Exceptional”

We were visiting Japan on our honeymoon and decided to see what a Ryokan was all about. We booked one night at Laforet club. This was our only regret of the experience. We should have booked more. Upon arrival, the staff was polite and professional. They spoke English well and were able to make us feel right at home. This feeling was consistent throughout the whole stay. We booked the western style hotel with private onsen. The room was the cleanest and nicest room we had throughout our whole stay in Japan. It had a beautiful view from our private onsen. the overall feel of the room was a mix of traditional Japanese enhanced with modern technology to make your stay more convenient and relaxing. We opted for dinner. This was some of the best food we had in Japan. Everything was prepared perfectly and plated meticulously. if you are contemplating the extra cost for food. it was worth every penny. We gave the location 4 stars because it is a bit away from the train station.

Excellent relaxing hotel with exceptional service”

Hotel is modern, well maintained, clean and luxurious for a modern ryokan. We stayed in a room with private outdoor Onsen and it was so convenient, but the communal Onsen faces an outdoor garden and provided a much more relaxing feel. Onsen shower amenities were good quality and evidently well thought. Meals were excellent and hotel staff were very attentive of family with young children, providing wet wipes, colouring materials, baby utensils...almost without having to request. I also liked it they had a separate kid-friendly dining area and quieter couple area which made it less stressful if you were with young kids. Location at Gora was honestly very out of the way, but we had a car and liked quieter private retreats so this suited us perfectly. Very near to the Hakone open air museum. Recommend to get full board so you can have dinner at the hotel which is really a good meal experience and hassle free as u won’t need to find food down the hill. Would love to come back!

Big Room and beautiful restaurant food ”

This hotel will pick you up from the Gora station which saves any struggle with bags. We had a Japanese/Western style room which was large, modern and very clean. The hotel is close to the cable car which allows travel and it is easy to walk to the Hakone Open Air Museum. To top our stay off when we requested a taxi to get back to the station the hotel offered to take us for free. Great way to stay at Hakone, would stay again

Excellent chill and relax hotel!”

Situated near naka-gora station (do not get off 1 stop earlier because you have to walk up-slope). Once exit from cable car, exit to your right (remember because there is no link for you at station if you exit wrongly), and walk straight for about 5min, turn right and hotel is there. Hotel is very clean, they have a no-shoe policy, so once you reached the entrance, someone is here to assist you in keeping your shoes in lockers. They provide free yukata for you to wear in the hotel. My room has private open-air bath which was really relaxing! Hotel has their own onsen as well. Only con is that it requires quite a travel from hakone-yumoto station, and once you reached the hotel, you dont really feel like going out anymore.

Staff were fantastic - went above and beyond”

We booked a room for 5 travellers with an in-room onsen and it was fabulous. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. The breakfast had sufficient western options to satisfy my 3 boys and the adults enjoyed trying the traditional Japanese items. On arrival at Gora station, we contacted the hotel and they sent a van to collect us which saved us a steep uphill walk with luggage (or alternative bus journey). When leaving the hotel, we took the offered shuttle van to the station again and my son managed to leave his iPhone on the bus. The hotel staff found the phone and then, without any fuss, forwarded it on to one of out later hotels, keeping us informed through the process. Thank you to the staff involved, we really appreciated the extra service!

Fell in love with the view. Everything was fantastic! The room with private bath is perfect for those who have tattoos or love the privacy. It was quite interesting to go out to the private bath in the winter. Downside was the train to Gora station is down, and the hike up from Gora Station is quite intense.

It is a steep walk to gora park. We had the japanese room with tatami and normal beds amd private bath. Can highly recommend this. Didnt go to the shared bath so cannot comment on this. The breakfast was mostly japanese and great! Very tasty! Kimono’s available to wear throughout the day in the hotel.

Pretty good but boring”

Pros: staff are helpful, maps given, explanations made. Bathtub suites are great. High quality bed. Nice Onsen in the hotel. Very comfortable Japanese bathrobes and socks given. Staff helpful with luggage and shuttle bus use. Cons: There is no bar. You can buy cans of beer but still... The dinner is below average Japanese food at a high price. Not the hotel's fault but Gora has little in the way of entertainment. Coffee at breakfast is terrible.

Perfect home base for exploring the Hakone area ”

We booked this hotel with the intention of getting a private onsen in the room at a good price, and that is exactly what this is. The hotel staff were lovely, the communal onsen was fantastic and the in-room bath was just what we wanted. It is a slightly older hotel but nothing was particularly out of shape, just don’t expect it to be brand new. It was also great to be able to walk around the hotel in Yukata and socks, gave a good sense of home. The breakfast is also pretty good in terms of both Japanese and western (toast/muesli etc). We ate around the town and found some great restaurants if the hotel’s style of cuisine isn’t for you. Also - take the funicular up the slope to the hotel, much easier than walking!

Very nice hot spring hotel with great service and facilities.”

The hotel is just located 5 minutes from Nakagora Cablecar Station, it's still accessible to us with two big luggages on the rainy day. We were asked to take off our shoes from the entrance which was really homecoming. The environment of hotel is very relaxing and luxurious. Staff were friendly and helpful, they helped to clean our luggages and took to our room. The outdoor bath tube inside our room is small but it was real onsen, really appreciate that! Really recommend this hotel to those wanna experience a Japanese onsen hotel!

Relaxing ”

We instantly start relaxing once we walked into the lobby of the hotel. The staff immediately greeted us with smiles and was ready to check us in. We speak very little Japanese but we know enough to check into a hotel. It was not necessary the staff spoke English. Our room was amazing, we had onsen in the room. The shower is located right by the onsen which was really convenient. The only thing I did not like about the room is the western bed are hard as a rock. Dinner was good! The Wagyu beef was GREAT! Breakfast was delicious as well.

Almost perfect with some downside”

1. No food in the area, no food in sight and the cable car to Gora last trip is about 7pm. And the eateries at Gora mostly starts at 6.30 2. The map drawn by the hotel was terrible. Cannot make any sense out of it 3. Mosquitos in the room but I guess it can’t be avoided as we are in the middle of jungle. 4. No blackout curtains - 4.30am sunrise so you either sleep very early or you won’t be able to sleep in. 5. No in-room dining. First hotel I’ve been to without one. Dining in the restaurant need to queue up with limited seats with no other choices within vicinity. Good stuff of this hotel is the in room onsen. Other than that factor, I wouldn’t have chosen this hotel.

Fantastic stay”

We loved it. The whole hotel from the room, the food, the private onsen on our balcony to the "no shoes" policy and kimono outfits they give you. It was really nice and fun and would go back again for sure.

Quiet and well appointed”

Traditional Japanese style in a quiet location. We had a semi open private onsen room which was wonderful. The hotel also has a larger onsen area for guests to use. Rooms are large and comfortable, with the option of normal bedding or futon. Breakfast is mostly Japanese style, with many choices. Could do with a decent coffee machine. Restaurant was quite expensive, and outside alternatives involve quite some walking up and down the hill.

Good”

Location is a steep climb from Gora Station. You can take the bus or make use of the hotel’s free shuttle service but difficult to have dinner outside if you want to catch last cable car at 7pm. I liked that there are no shoes throughout the hotel. I enjoyed breakfast buffet with rice and lots of varied pickles and vegetable dishes. Room is very spacious and relaxing. Bed was a bit too hard for me.
