Lanta Mermaid Boutique House Hotel - Delightful!”

Our stay at the Lanta Mermaid Boutique House Hotel, at Klong Dao Beach was wonderful on this beautiful island of Koh Lanta. My wife & I, plus our 2 lovely Swedish friends, stayed in adjoining rooms as requested when we booked. As the hotel is very new, its in fine condition, with lovely fittings, and furnishings throughout. We ate a yummy breakfast each morning, which was a refreshing start to the day. The owners were very helpful with suggestions, ideas, maps etc for our stay. The owners also have a beautiful black dog and cute cat which are often around outside, so give them a little cuddle :) We stayed for 2 nights, and enjoyed our strolls along the nearby Klong Dao Beach, swimming in the beautiful warm water, and eating awesome food at some of the many beach front restaurants, which all light up at night like a lovely fairyland. There is a handy shower at the front of the hotel to rinse off sand from the beach too.We also explored the island and enjoyed shopping at the nearby markets and village shops. I highly recommend this small, intermit, and value for money hotel, if you come to Koh Lanta, an island not yet too overdeveloped, with a lovely village style atmosphere, amazing beaches, and warm, friendly locals.

Award winning Gem in Koh Lanta”

I knew I was in for a great experience when I booked Lanta Mermaid. From the moment you arrive, Pao, Chai and all the staff make you feel like you are family. Thoughtfully designed and meticulously maintained, you will never want to leave Lanta Mermaid. The made to order breakfast is huge; fresh fruit which changes daily, juice/coffee/tea, toast, muesli, yogurt, pancakes, bacon/sausage, eggs whatever way you want them. And this is not a buffet, but actual restaurant service! I had a room overlooking the tropical jungle behind the hotel so I watched a young elephant have his morning bath every morning. Klong Dao beach is a short 2-3 minute walk and the best (cleanest) part of the beach is to the north of Lanta Mermaid. Still unspoiled in many ways, Lanta is a paradise if you want to simply read a book, swim and "chill" out on any of the gorgeous beaches. It is a big island to explore and Lanta Mermaid can rent you a motorbike for 300bht (10usd) per day. Plenty of mini markets and restaurants close to the hotel. Lanta Mermaid is a gem in every sense of the word and I will definitely return in the future.

Three weeks in Lanta Mermaid Boutique House”

We stayed for three weeks in Lanta Mermaid Boutique House and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is quite small so can expect very personal service and you can ask the owner to arrange all kinds of trips or almost anything you need (although you may not get the cheapest price that way). The rooms are quite big and really clean. All the staff members are very friendly and nice. The hotel does not have a pool but the beach is just across the road and the hotel has beach towels and beach mats which you can take with you to the beach. The breakfast at the hotel was quite good at first but after a couple of weeks we started to wish for something other to eat in the mornings than what the hotel provided. A buffet breakfast would be nicer and a more versatile option for those who are not in favor of American breakfast. The hotel is located quite close to the main village in Koh Lanta and it takes about 5 minutes with a tuk tuk to get there. There aren't so many night life activities in the Klong Dao beach but you can find nice restaurants on the beach to have dinner and a couple of drinks. Overall, we can recommend Lanta Mermaid Boutique House to almost anyone. We think that the hotel offers good accommodation with great service (although some may find the overly personal service slightly intrusive).

A truly delightful boutique hotel. ”

My husband and I, along with our son and his girlfriend stayed the Lanta Mermaid Boutique House Hotel for 3 nights. We arrived late and the reception was warm and welcoming. A warm and friendly feeling prevails from the moment you enter the hotel and continues when you go to your room. The rooms were bright, modern, clean and tastefully decorated. A drying rack for wet suits and towels was a good addition. The bathroom was large, with a good shower. The outside balcony was a added bonus. The hotel breakfast was prompt and the amount and quality of the food was impeccable. The desk arranged motor bikes, booked a snorkling trip for us, arranged our departures, and was generally very helpful. At first glance the location appears to be in the middle of no where but we walked to restaurants on the sidewalk just up the road, walked to the 7/11 for drinks and snacks and crossed the road to arrive at the beach where we enjoyed beach side dining. My only negative comment would have to be that a pool for a evening dip would add to this hotel. Having said that I will return to this hotel if I return to Koh Lanta and I will highly recommend it to others going to Koh Lanta.

Spotless Hotel with Easy Access to the Beach”

We stayed at the Lanta Mermaid in mid-September. The first thing we noticed upon arriving to the hotel was how clean it was. The place was spotless and tidy. We had stayed at many other guest houses and hotels during our trip through Thailand but nothing compared. The staff greeted us and gave us our room key. There are a couple of hotel rules: The hotel is locked at 10 PM (no staff on), so you get a key to let yourself in; No shoes allowed to be worn in the hotel; A room deposit must be left. The staff was very kind and helpful during our stay. Chai, the owner, gave us plenty of suggestions of activities to do while in Koh Lanta. It was low season, so not very busy, and a lot of things were closed. But that didn't stop us from having a fantastic time. The beach is right across the street from the hotel, just a brief walk. Being low season, we pretty much had the beach to ourselves most of the time. Our only real complaint was that breakfast was not offered at the hotel since it was low season. We had some issues finding a place to get breakfast in the morning and used the 7-Eleven several times for food. Overall, we were quite impressed with the Lanta Mermaid. I would definitely recommend this hotel as an excellent place to stay in while in Koh Lanta!!

Great place to stay”

My wife and I spent 5 days in Koh Lanta in this beautiful hotel. The location was ideal for us, away from the buzz of Saladan area and 100 mts away from the beautiful Klong Dao beach. Everything always clean, with great staff willing to answer all your questions about what to do in the island. Great breakfast! The room was very comfortable also. Great value for price. If we manage to go back to Lanta, we will definitely return to Lanta Mermaid Boutique Hotel!

Best value accommodations”

Lanta Mermaid is the best hotel value I have experienced in Thailand. Our initial plan was to book one night and look for other accommodations, as we were not familiar with the island and wanted to explore Koh Lanta, but we ended up staying there three nights and had a great time. The location is a good compromise between being close to Klong Dao Beach and Saladan, with some good restaurants and shops, and a short motorbike ride to more secluded beaches -- my favorite was Kantiang Beach. One particular thing I would like to note is that the staff at this hotel was the most diligent crew I have seen. At any given time, they were either cleaning the floor or dusting the walls or whatever. It was quite impressive to witness. The reception staff is very knowledgeable about the best places to eat and do other activities. Keep in mind the hotel has no elevator.

5 Star Service & Accomodations... 3 Star Price”

(Owner) and the staff at Lanta Mermaid Boutique House Hotel run an extremely impressive operation. The grounds are nicely decorated and immaculately kept, while service leaves you constantly wondering why you didn't have to pay 5 star prices? Breakfast was one of the most comprehensive we've had on our journeys in Thailand, and served with the care and consideration of some of the kindest, friendly employees we've ever met. Mr. Chai and the staff attend to your every need, arranging transport to and from the ferry port, able to discuss and knowledgeable about island snorkeling/diving tours,restaurant recommendations, and able to arrange motorbike rentals at a moment's notice. We left to Koh Phi Phi knowing we were leaving behind something very unique and special, which we have never before and not since found again. - Thanks & Staff for a great stay on Koh Lanta!!!!

Best Island Holiday in Thailand”

We stayed 2 times at Lanta Mermaid in Ocean view room and Mountain view both were excellant the ocean view room was larger and good view over ocean. Staff were attentive to all your needs and friendly greeting on leaving or returning to hotel. We only ate breakfast at hotel and it was made fresh for you. There were quite a few restaurants/bars on the beach so what better way to enjoy the sunset. Our favourite was the Koala Bar and for bike hire or tours the aussie operated apple travel on the main road at Klong Dao beach. Koh Lanta is a great holiday destination.

Couldn't have had a better stay in Koh Lanta ”

Me and my sister returned to Koh Lanta after two years and this time we wanted to book the accommodation in advance. We managed to book a twin room in Lanta Mermaid and we couldn't have been happier. The hotel and the room are beautiful and very clean - important for us who are scared of all sorts of bugs - and the staff is super nice, Paul & Aica especially made us feel so welcome and provided excellent service. We spent 2 weeks at the hotel and cannot recommend it enough. Location wise it is just off Khlong Dao, a beautiful beach with nice bars and restaurants. Best choice for family with young kids.”

I stayed 3 nights here with my family (including my 2 young boys ,6yo & 7yo). We were impressed with the hotel tip top cleanliness. Though the hotel is not beach front, it's location is only 200m away from Klong Dao beach which makes walking to the beach easy! Klong Dao beach is an ideal beach for travellers with young kids. The sea is calm, clean and flat during our stay. The sunset here is so beautiful. We made it a point to see it everyday ! Credits should be given to the hotel staff Paul and Aica. Both of them are helpful and friendly. We always ask them to share tips where to find good local food in Ko Lanta. The few places they recommended has never let us down :)) we also got to know the hotel's friendly lady boss who is always around to ensure everything is in place. Both my boys, especially, can't wait to visit Ko Lanta again soon. And we would love to stay at this lovely hotel again ....

Enjoyable stay”

We experienced great service throughout our stay. The deluxe "sea view" room overlooks the road, but it was spacious, clean and finished with high quality furnishings. The road is a bit noisy if you want peace and quiet on the balcony in the evenings, although not a problem once you are behind closed doors. We were served a great breakfast each morning between 7am and 10am with a choice of cereals/fruit/pancakes, eggs with bacon/sausage, toast, juice, tea and coffee - although the coffee could be better!! Klong Dao beach is great, there are some nice little bars to chill out in the evening and I would recommend "Mon Restaurant" for food...a plastic chair style restaurant just past 7 Eleven, towards Saladan town...amazing food, large portions, friendly staff and very cheap! All in all, a great stay at Lanta Mermaid.

Highlight on 2 weeks vacation”

First of all, we had a great time at Mermaid Boutique House!!! Especially the friendly staff and our receptionists were really nice and helpful. They organized everything and give good recommondations. The hotel is clean and quite when you have a room to the backside. They offer free beach towels and it's just a short walk to a nice beach. In November we had no rocks or trash there! The hotel is also close to the peer where ferries go to other islands or daily tour starts. We liked that we had a really clean and comfortable room and didn't miss a pool or any entertaining stuff because you can do so much thing on Lanta during the day! If you like western breakfast and eggs in all kinds of preparations (boiled, poached, scrumbled, fried, you will enjoy it. We'd have wished a bit more variety and maybe some Thai breakfast but still enjoyed it. After all, we decided to extend our stay two times and were really sad to leave.

An absolute treasure in Koh Lanta”

My stay at Lanta Mermaid was absolutely delightful. The rooms were spotless, modern and tastefully decorated. The WiFi was strong and free. The location was a convenient quick walk to the beach. The price was very reasonable. The breakfasts' were beyond scrumptious -- juicy fresh fruit, toast made from artisanal bread, eggs cooked to order and, my favorite, pancakes! Best of all was the service. I can't say enough good things about Chai and the entire staff of Lanta Mermaid. They continually went out of their way to assure that every guest was comfortable and happy. Too few hotels/guesthouses understand the importance of good customer service but the people at Lanta Mermaid totally get it. I would recommend this hotel -- and the people in it -- over and over again.

Fantastic Hotel offering a first class service”

We booked this Hotel through Agoda for just 3 nights but kept extending our stay. The Lanta Mermaid offers wonderfully clean and decorated rooms, a bright and cheerful environment and a first class breakfast. It is situated just over the road from a clean, safe and sandy beach and not far from the shops near Saladan Pier. The sea is clear and clean and the sunsets are simply breathtaking. The owners do everything they can to make your stay more comfortable, including providing beach mats and towels. They are more than happy to arrange tours and even helped us to hire a moped for three days - we had had great fun driving round the island and got to see places we would not have been able to otherwise. The Hotel is within walking distance of many fine places to dine, including restaurants on the beach. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody looking for comfort at a reasonable cost in Koh Lanta. I sincerely wish the owners every success for the future.

One week in Koh Lanta at Lanta Mermaid”

What a charming hotel this was! All the resorts right on the beach were the same and did not match the pictures online. The Lanta Mermaid Boutique House is very close to the beach, walking distance to markets, shops and restaurants, and right next door to the best Thai restaurant in town. Staff were extremely helpful with planning transportation, tours, and providing general information. It was nice to have a smaller, unique place to stay where the staff really care about your comfort and satisfaction. I would definitely stay again!!

Excellent hotel with great service”

One of the best hotels I've stayed in for a few years, they really know how to take care of their guests. Very comfortable rooms with everything you need (apart from a hairdryer!). Luxurous beds and great position just across the road from Klong Dao Beach which is one of the most beautiful beaches in Koh Lanta (and great for a late evening swim just before the sunset!). Well positioned to explore the island and only 5 minutes away to Saladan to eat great seafood at night. No restaurant at the hotel but a really nice Thai food place right next door.

Excellent boutique hotel in Ko Lanta”

Came across Lanta Mermaid, and was immediately impressed by the positive reviews it had received. Two other things struck me from the reviews; everyone talked about the owner, and what “a tight ship” he runs. Service was highly rated, with some commenting that it was a 5 star service at 2 star prices. I would agree with all of this. The other thing we noticed was how everyone talked about “the rules” which are presented to guests upon arrival. Sure, they want to make sure you keep things nice and tidy, and they insist on a 2000THB deposit, but that reassures me that the place will be kept well cleaned and therefore a much more comfortable and enjoyable stay. It’s literally a two-minute walk to a lovely, quiet (at least in April) beach (the first main beach from the town). The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and will assist you with transport and activities during your stay. They do a buffet breakfast which is great, although the bacon and sausage could be a little better quality. However, there is plenty of nice food to choose from, and there’s an excellent restaurant next door with really high quality, affordable Thai food. I loved it here and would definitely stay here if I were to come to Lanta again!

superb customer service and yummy breakfast!”

this hotel is a little gem in koh lanta. while there are cute little bungalows sprinkled throughout the island, we fell in love with the mermaid and the entire staff. the owner takes such pride in this operation and you can feel the love down to the smallest detail. chair, owner, was insanely helpful and let us borrow umbrellas, books, checkers, paddle ball, etc, etc. you name it and you could have it. located on a busy street, this hotel offers a nice break from the beach. the breakfast is delish as well. if you want a little luxury in koh lanta, stay at the mermaid.

Boutique Hotel of the highest quality. ”

Whoever put this business together was a professional hotelier of great taste and design flair, who knows what guests hope to expect and supplies it with great charm. This follows through to the training of the staff who were brilliant, always appearing happy, with smiles and a few friendly words when we met. We have nothing but praise for the high standard achieved at the Lanta Mermaid Boutique House Hotel. Just bear in mind that the front rooms facing the sea do have road noise when the patio doors to the balcony are open. Fine when closed. The rear rooms do not suffer from this problem.
