Never again”
As a couple, we paid another 240 Ringet to get out there by their boat. Trying to get out of the boat, we touched the resin of the freshly refinished boat they put right in the landing to dry. The staff spoke hardly any English, looked like only wanted the money and left. The snorkelling gear was terrible, the first mask leaked and the fins were broken, one of them was held together by an elastic band tied around your foot, while their own people used the good gear. It was an experience to see how some of the people live on the ocean.

A tiny paradise”
Lacking all kinds of facilities. BUT you really wont care, for the following reasons - 1) its pretty cheap 2) you will be spending time enjoying the view, the clear blue waters, the corals, the fishes, the breeze, etc etc 3) its an amazing feeling waking up in the middle of the sea with a beautiful sunrise over the horizon Theres no amenities at all, but you will soon realize why you dont need them when you are in the middle of the sea. Every room, you have great view, colorful fishes roam just in your view (sea urchins too). You could even dive straight in just 3 feet away from your room. Free to use snorkeling and life jackets. A hundred meters out and it is still shallow. Ask the staff about surrounding island visits, it will costs about approx USD20 -35 per pax depending on the itinerary. Overall, this place is priced right for a glimpse of paradise if you're not expecting 5 star pampering.

Scenery is amazing Service is terribly awful ”
The sea water is clear and clean, you can see through and watch fish swimming as well as Red Sea stars, you’ll be amazed by the view, however the staff and service is the worst that I had ever met and had, no punctuality at all! No patience, not organized. They told us to take their boat at 10am but kept us waiting for1 hour when we need to go to the island and leave for Semporna, which made us nearly missed the flight. No water for showing, there are 7,8 staff but the only English they can speak is “wait” ! Then they forgot about it and no further reply. Moreover, the owner and the staff have absolutely no sense of protecting the environment at all, they simply throw anything into the sea, cigarette, dirty washing water, it is said that carols here were purple 2 years ago, now it’s all died and black.

Beautiful spot lovely people”
It's a magical experience waking up in the middle of the sea in a village on stilts with tropical fish swimming under your room. You can literally jump into the water from your balcony and snorkel (as long as the tide is in). Lato Lato is on a shallow shelf a few miles off the coast and surrounded by a beautiful coast with villages built on stilts and locals fishing from small motor boats. Accommodation is basic but tidy the food is fine, standard fare for travellers in this area. The seas around Borneo and in fact the whole of Malaysia are suffering from an onslaught of floating plastic so don't be surprised if you travel through a flotilla of plastic on your journey there but luckily loto lato is far enough out that it didn't suffer from this, just the odd bottle. Let's hope the world manages to stop using and throwing single use plastic in the sea. Communication with lato lato is a bit intermittent so be persistent and clear. They will organise a boat to take you out and back. Enjoy

Acceptable”
Amazing location which was great to jump in and snorkel. Rooms were exceptionally basic. Single beds and a toilet with a tap/bowl for showering. Windows leaked during a storm and one of the huts collapsed into the water (vacant new build away from the rest) Food was reasonably OK. If you come here, bring snacks, drinks, toiletries, sunscreen and whatever else you think you'll need. Tours need to be arranged the day before too. Limited phone reception. Buy a local sim card. For what we paid it was over priced and lacking in facilities. The accommodation standard really needs to be improved substantially.

Great location, horrible service”
The houses on stilts are on a great location on a half hour boat trip from Semporna. What they don't mention is that to reach Lato you have to pay 100 myr per person round trip. The meals are always the same and really basic and so are the rooms, which dont have a flushing toilet or shower. Just a bucket and water tap. The generator was suppose to be on at 7 pm but 2 out of 3 nights we had dinner in the dark and no power untill 11 pm. Service isn't too good either unless you book an extra day trip and they can earn more money. I suggest you only go there if you want to enjoy the unique view and don't care about other stuff.

Good location. Amazing view. ”
The place was in a perfect location with breathtaking views. However, improvements should be made in regards of cleanliness and meals. More options should be provided for vegetarian people. And any broken facilities should be repaired before renting it out, for example malfunctioned toilet flush. Otherwise it was a good place for snorkelling as we saw lots of corals and star fishes. Perfect place for those who need a short break from hectic work life.

Bad, totally. Should not booked there.”
It was the worst resort ever. Eventho it was mention you will be provided with breakfast lunch and dinner but dont get fooled by that because it will not be like you ordinary meal buffet. The room was not cleaned before hands as I can see through messed sheet. When I was checking in, the staff were in the room, taking a rest. IN MY ROOM that I paid. The resort was soooo expensive compare to the service they provide. There’s no electricity from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm everyday. The transportation cost from the jetty to the jetty to the resort were very expensive which were suppose to be provided by the resort but they didnt. The cost for island hopping were also very pricy and there is no official reception nor management that you could refer. There’s no activity scheduled or somebody you could refer. Therefore the cost for island hopping or even the island that they promise to visit could change as they please. Very limited language in english therefore it could be hard for tourist to communicate. Not to mention, there’s no parking if you were driving and plan to leaves you car at the jetty, the resort will highly left you unattended there. The staff was so cold and not friendly at all. Overall, its not good value of money as the service was bad.

this is a MUST STAY in Semporna”
This place was just amazing! Words can not describe how lucky I am to have found Lato Lato. If your a backpacker PLEASE SPLURGE and stay here at least 1 night, you will not be disappointed. There is a phone number on FB if you have any questions. Your trip starts with door service pick up that takes you to the boat jetty to take you to the middle of the ocean at Lato Lato (boat taxi 100RM round trip) once there all meals are included and the most amazing swimming of your life. If you want to island hop, snorkel with guide or dive it can all be arranged for a reasonable price. The meals are fresh, delicious and plentiful. The water is safe, tranquil, full of marine life (please dont touch or eat, just look) and unlike anything Ive ever seen before. The staff is welcoming and fun, you feel right at home. Our room was on the end of the walkway, corner view full of windows (all rooms have spectacular views, your in the middle of an ocean paradise!) waking to the sunrise was breathtaking.

beautiful location ”
it was a last min trip and we manage to book this resort. it was worth the money, location was beautiful and you can do some snorkelling around the hotel (remember to bring your flipper, sometimes the current can be too strong for beginner). cleanliness is ok but there is a lot of ants roaming around the bed, the staff is very friendly and helpful. the worst encounter is when I confirm a boat with the lady boss for my trip (the night before) to the semporna to do diving, but was delay due to engine failure and I was not informed until I called the lady boss to check on when the boat is coming(I waited for 30min). their facebook reply take 3 days and it very hard to get a reply through msg. you can only call them to confirm the booking and check on other request you have (island hopping & diving). do note that boat trip from semporna to lato lato cost 100rm, on the island boat going to semporna has "fix/rubbering band" timing 5.30am till last boat at 6pm.
