I had a fantastic stay at the hotel in Feb 2013. I stayed at a couple of other places in Buzios but I was pleased to return to the Serena, receiving a warm welcome when I arrived. The hotel and staff were excellent and certainly exceeded my expectations for the following reasons: The location is great as it is in a quiet, safe area, close to shops and restaurants and Geriba beach. The shuttle service that is provided free of charge to and from the centre of Buzios at night is fantastic and much appreciated by clients and the driver, Orlando, has a great rapport with guests. Orlando is also the driver for the complementary city tour. These services provided are 2 of many which sets this hotel apart from the rest, such as the section at the beach with chairs and umbrellas, the free shuttle services to the other beaches, foot massages, yoga classes. The rooms are modern and have everything you could need, the satellite TV and a DVD player with DVDs to borrow was great for me as an English person that can't understand the local TV channels! Little touches like the bathrobes and anti mist mirrors in the bathroom make your stay all the more pleasant. Free wifi is also a positive aspect. The pool and garden area is beautiful and extremely well maintained. The biggest assets though are the staff who are fabulous and all go out of their way to help you, from the security staff, restaurant staff (including the chef that speaks english) and of course the receptionists, especially for me the two girls that speak very good English. They were able to help with all my questions and requests...nothing was too much trouble at any time of the day or night, especially Maricel. All of the staff are always hardworking and when they are not helping or serving guests they are cleaning. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I only stayed for one night, but I was blown away at the service and amenities! Upon arrival I received a coupon for a free welcome drink and was told that tea time was between 6-7pm. There was a built-in wall-mounted flat screen TVs and free wifi internet in the room. I had to ask for an adaptor for my US 3-pronged laptop plug since the outlets were not compatible, and they just plugged in the 2 prongs into an adaptor connected to the A/C outlet --a little dangerous with the 3rd prong sticking out. (Next time I will remember to bring my own). I couldn't have a late check out but they let me keep my bags at the front desk until I had to leave in the late afternoon, so I was able to go walk along and enjoy the beach. Overall, I really enjoyed my one-night stay at Chez Pitu, and I only wish I had better weather while I was there and more time to see the rest of Buzios.

This hotel is very well located. It is possibly the only place for conventions in Búzios - it has a nice structure. Maybe for this reason people overlook it for a weekend or vacations, but it provides excellent value for the money, considering Búzios standards. You are near Rua das Pedras and Orla Bardot, with all their fancy shops and restaurants. But you are also near Praia dos Ossos and Azeda, where you will find simple and cheaper restaurants.

We were disappointed with our room allocation on the first night. Some nasty niffs hanging around, we couldn`t find a cause (strong lavatory odor enhanced by some `masking` citrus chemicals). We requested relocation and luckily they had another available room so we got another one. Our happiness didn`t last too long though because on the third night our room leaked completely due to severe downpour. water all over the floor, wet luggage, midnight nightmare. There was a second relocation after that, bit too much as for a 4-night stay in what had been advertised as a `luxurious, exclusive and tranquil` property. The first two rooms should not have been offered to guests in the first place. Staff however very friendly and doing their utmost to make us happy and accepted their liability for these disasters. We have requested some form of compensation and received a free taxi transfer to Rio (worth £100) without any problems. I think they know exactly what is going on with some of the rooms, and these, I`m afraid are below the advertised standard. In Buzios there many other lovely properties in much better locations so I wouldn`t really recommend staying in Glenzhaus (at this price!). Looks good in pictures though.

Great little boutique style hotel. Staff were friendly although only a few staff spoke English but they always came quickly to assist when staff could not understand. We were with little kids so the beach in front of the hotel was great for me with the cooler water and the big waves, but the children preferred the beaches on the other side which were warmer and smaller waves. We really enjoyed the stay at this hotel and would consider going back if we had the opportunity.

The hotel is locate on the very right side of the Ferradura Beach, on the top of the mountain therefore is has a super view from the swimming pool and almost every bedroom. The room was big and comfortable. Nevertheless, unfortunately the maintenance of the hotel is not good so it looks like an old hotel, full of ant and other insect in the room, the swimming pool was not really clean. The staff is very polite, but I wouldn't stay there again.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. I loved everything about it-the decor, the location, the service, food and drink. The staff is so helpful in making plans for outings, which beach to go to, where to eat. Everyone spoke perfect English and was so friendly. The breakfast was deliscious with a beautiful view, and we had a wonderful dinner there as well. Our room was very comfortable, with a great shower.

I enjoyed my stay and the Pousada was exactly as advertised. I chose Saint Germain because of the price and location and the fact that the owner Paul is American since I speak no Portugese. The Pousada is in a great location less than 5 mins walk from the beach and the Brigitte Bardot Walk. It's not the most luxurious pousada in town by any means but the price is so good that you can ignore detail of fittings etc in the room. Bed good, breakfast more than adequate and advice from Paul was very helpful on all kinds of topics. I visited in winter but I suspect the mosquitoes in summer would be quite numerous so ensure you close your windows coming up to dusk to keep the pesky critters out of your room.

This hotel is one of the best places on earth to relax and explore Buzios. You need the car to go to downtown Buzios (the shopping streets and the coastal walk), but then again, you are close to the two beaches that are good for snorkling, you can also walk from the hotel to the viewpoints on the island (get the map from the reception). This hotel was kind of perfect, and we would go back here again. In general, in Buzios and Pousada Santorini, nothing went wrong (reservations, pick-ups, rooms, food orders, payments etc), which is a very nice change compared to Rio De Janeiro...

It was OK. The rooms were sparsely equipped: nowhere to hang your clothes, no cupboards, no chairs or tables. No chair or table on the balcony. No coat hangers. Small things that would be easy to fix. One day we got a note saying "If you store things in the fridge it will cost you 5 BRL". Come on! The pool was very small, just a bucket of water, no continuous water cleaning during the day. Breakfast was not very much. All in all, a budget hotel that's OK, but not more. + for free and easy to use Internet (Wifi).

THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY! I had an absolute wonderful time at Villa Bathazar. First of all the location is EXCELLENT! It is just a short walk to the famous stone street in Buzios with all of its shops and restaurants. The staff and owners are also amazing and so helpful. They will help you get to anywhere you want to go and are full of helpful suggestions and insights. It is run by a beautiful family from Sweden. They have created the perfect little get away spot that is beautiful, safe, friendly, cozy, clean and so so charming! It is extremely well kept and clean and I felt perfectly safe as a solo traveler. It is a perfect mix of European/western standards of professionalism and cleanliness and Brazilian hospitality. It is also beautifully decorated. They have mixed antiques from Europe with Brazilian tropics that makes you feel as if you have drifted into a dream world. The breakfast, adorned with antique spoons, china and teapots, is worth the trip back to Buzios. The homemade granola, jams and fresh baked bread are amazing! Each breakfast is also ended with a unique house-made treat and fresh squeezed juice. There was such attention to detail. Everything was well planned out and executed to perfection. I can't wait to return. This will be the ONLY place I want to stay in Buzios. I cannot say enough good about it. It was charming, safe, cozy, and inviting. You will love it here!

It was amazing. The owner takes care of details; she cooks most of the things at home (granola, yoghurt, jam...)and also grows the vegetables and fruits in the garden. She makes sure that you arrived safely (she came to pick us up around 2:30am in the city center encase we were lost), she speaks 5+ languages and she makes sure that everyone is having a great time while staying at the Anfiteatro. She can also arranged massages, dinner reservations and if you would like to stay and having dinner at the posada, she will cook an amazing dinner. I will come back for sure!

We booked the hotel for a marriage party across the street. The hotel is OK, but relatively expensive compared to what you get. The pool is old and not so clean. The breakfast is OK, but 1 day we had to wait more than one hour 'because there was no bread'..Although Brazil is full of these kind of surprises, you would expect that a hotel foresees the need for bread when offering breakfast to its guests. All in all , all stay was fine.
