I love everything about Maverick. Although they call themselves a hostel, they are really more like a hotel room with twin or triple single beds. If you are travelling with a few friends, this is a perfect choice. I opted for a private single room. There a common living room and kitchen that is really cosy and a great place to meet new people. The staff is a young, enthusiastic team that was absolutely helpful. The location is another factor I could stop praising Maverick about. It's 500m from the main metro station - Ferenciek Square. There's a 24hr grocery store right downstairs. Will definitely stayed here again and highly recommend it.

I stayed at The Maverick while visiting Budapest this past week. I have to say that I was very comfortable. I can be a very picky about bathroom cleanliness and sheets, but this place was amazing! My sister recommended me to stay here and I was not disappointed. The bathroom and the bedroom were amazingly clean where I actually felt comfortable enough to sleep and shower freely, whereas it is very difficult for me to adjust to new environments. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating to my abnormal travel itinerary. They provide coffee and tea and have kitchens in the suites that become very handy when you are starving at three in the morning. Would stay here again and definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Budapest.

Excellent location, clean and spacious room! ”

I usually stay at 5* hotels so I wasn't expecting much staying at a hostel, but I must admit that for the price you pay this is worth every penny. The mansion is stunning, with 5m high ceilings and the double room was spacious. The bed was Japanese style, low but nevertheless comfy. The bathroom was the biggest surprise - it was modern with lots of space, and a shower with great pressure (this is important for me). Location wise, the hostel couldn't have been in a better spot. The main shopping street Vaci Utca is just as you exit, and close to most sights and all the happenings in Budapest. I will be back with my boyfriend next time; this is truly in a great location. Not easy to find, but take the shuttle bus from the airport and they'll know where to drop you off as there are many one way and pedestrian streets nearby. the only downside I can think of is the lack of aircon. The fan in the room did its work for me but for some this might not be enough to keep them cool.

Warm and friendly staff”

I stayed at the 12-bed dorm, and beds were tidy and fairly comfortable. They even made my bed on the third day, even though I was checking out the next day. I strongly recommend checking in early so you get to pick the bed in the best position (i.e. against the wall, not too close to other beds). There was only one ensuite bathroom in the room, but more bathrooms outside. I never had an issue with having to wait to use the bathroom. There are lockers both inside and right outside the room. And every bed gets a tray to place non-valuables which you can stow under your bed. But the highlight of my stay was the professionalism, warmth and hospitality of the staff! Tom gave me a smooth check-in and explained everything well, Schilla and Fanny both made me feel very welcome at the Froccs tasting night (highly recommended if you want to chill and socialise), and Mata was always ready to help out with guests' queries, and would happily research online if he didn't have the answers. Maverick came highly recommended from other travellers that I met before I arrived in Prague, and no regrets there. Would definitely stay again, and that's because of the lovely staff that made my stay so much more memorable :) Thank you!

Lovely hotel in a refurbished old building”

A charming hotel in a refurbished old building. Our initial experience was however not great as we arrived on a raining evening and could not find the entrance to the building. We had to lug our luggage up two flights of steps. But after that it was great. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist and check-in was very quick and without hassle. We were assigned to a large room which was clean and comfortable. The hostel is located near the Old Town and an underground station. Great for taking public transport (we used the Budapest Pass) to the many sights. Staff of hostel are very good and friendly. We had no trouble changing towels. They were very accomodating to allow us to store our luggage after we checked out.

Very nice hostel with nice ensuites room. There are shared common area for breakfast or relax outside my room. Room is clean, tidy and comfortable. Low price and high quality. Staff very helpful with good English. Moreover, it just less than one minutes to the subway, very good location! Highly recommend for budget traveller!

Value for money experience”

We had an excellent stay at this hostel. Very good location, a walking distance from vaci utca w/c is considered a hip strip in budapest. The room is spacious. The flooring could do some work. Aside from the small things like the tv or the floor,w/c is not so important coz you'll be out the whole day exploring the city, we had an excellent stay at this place

it's a great hostel. the building was renovated from a classic official building in budapest. the location is good near "vaci utca". there are a bus stop and metro at the corner of street. the staff is very friendly and helpful. the room is quite small but there is a kitchen and small living area for sharing. worth to pay for this hostel.

Simple hostel with excellent service! ”

Stayed in double room ensuites on Sep17. Good hot shower and clean hostel overall. Impressive with the helpful and cheerful frontdesk service, he helped us to print our flight boarding pass for free, gave us free goulash voucher at nearby restaurant etc. Highly recommend for anyone.

Relaxing common space and friendly staff”

This was the first time for me to agree the over 9 rating on agora. The hostel locates in very gorgeous building and center in the city. Common space and kitchen are spacious. Free tea and coffee available. Staffs are very kind and full of hospitality..... I rate this hostel full marks!!!

Very happy! ”

I was pleasantly surprised as it was my first experience to stay in the hostel. I had a double bed room en suite. Spacious and simple and comfortable. There was security before entering the hostel. Friendly and helpful staff. Good Internet connection. Very good city location. I strongly recommend it! Will stay there again.

Good hostel”

It was located in front of the station, but I use Astoria which is 5 minutes away from the hostel since it was more convenient to go to main attraction. The safety of the hostel was really nice because of the locking system. Receptionist was kind and nice. You can use coffee pot and tea pot anytime. Room was separately located in another stair. it was cozy and convenient especially the living room were private for people who use each stair. The only disadvantage of the hostel is the lack of air conditioning system.

I've stayed in Maverick hostel for 2 days and I really enjoyed the stay. Unfortunately the weather was so hot and the lack of air conditioning was quite a minus.

Actually, it's hostel not hotel. There is the apartment with 4-5 bedroom sharing kitchen and living room. However, I really love this place, it's really comfy and convenient room. The staffs are absolutely kind and have the service mind, they helped me from the train station to find this place with out them I didn't know how to make it. I also met the management team, they are definitely friendly and have the sharp vision about developing their business. The accommodation is located in the perfect location, front of the building there are banks with money exchange and ATM, 24 hour supermarket, restaurants, bus stop, subway and accessible to all attraction areas. The hostel has a high safety system for the clients. There are totally 5 secured lock doors from main street to bedroom.

Great location but can be improved further”

It's my first time staying at a hostel and Maverick is certainly not the type of rowdy hostel one would expect. I like the hostel for its convenient location: Near to metro Near to vaci street Near to major places of interest A bakery just right outside A bus stop that has buses which go all the way to keleti and thus saving taxi fare From the pictures, the room look bigger so I was a bit surprised when I first saw my room. It's a bit small but still do-able. The bathroom is clean but due to the age of the building, there are cracks on the floor where I saw tiny bugs crawling in and out. Not too many, saw 3 of them in total. I think it's a common sight and no where like other creepy crawlies but it's me- very particular. The front desk is helpful when we ask qns but they do not give much suggestions on local Hungarian food. :/ nevertheless, we can't find fault with them. The hotel signboard was not easy to find at first so hopefully it can be enlarged For future guests.

Conveniently located hostel”

A small but clean hostel converted from an elegant old building. Needed to climb up lots of stairs with your luggages. Expected very small room but okay for one night stay. The well kept communal kitchen was a plus with free tea and coffee and lots of utensils. Major attractions in Pest were within walking distance or you could take the underground railway nearby.

We had a great stay! Staff is friendly, location is really central, the hostel is located in an ancient building which adds to its flair... Rooms are very comfortable and quiet, tea and coffee is complimentary + a lot of activities organized if you travel on your own. We'd love to come back!

Stayed in an ensuite room. Although we were placed in the 1st room beside the common area, it wasn't noisy at all. Pretty tame for a hostel. Room is clean and staff is friendly. The hostel is within 5 mins walk to the metro.
