Melasti was fantastic!”

Beautiful gardens throughout the hotel grounds. Two very large pools with swim-up pool bars, as well as a smaller pool. Rooms are spacious and coe with all the mod-cons. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a great spread. Excellent location! beach directly in front of you on one side, and a good restaurant/shopping strip out the other side.
Is definitely getting a bit tired, old.

We had four of us stay at the Melasti for an original 5 days. The hotel is in an excellent location. We prefer Legian because it is still bustling but not as crazy as Kuta. It is walking distance to Kuta and Seminyak (btwn 15 - 30 mins), although a scooter-taxi ride is cheap and takes 5 mins! There are LOTS of good restaurants/pubs around the hotel. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, balinese style, plenty of greenery and flowers and well maintained. The rooms are spacious, and were cleaned every day, fresh towels etc. Good selection of free TV channels as well. Breakfast every morning was great. Wide spread including western, indonesian, fresh fruits, etc. Not one of us got bali belly so we know they actually do use bottled water for everything. The swim-up pool bars are great. Big pools, friendly staff, and a great place to meet other travellers. The staff were always friendly, polite and helpful. Even giving us 3 extra pillows when requested!! We met a lot of people who had changed from other hotels to the Melasti and were glad they had. We stayed an extra 4 nights we loved it (and Bali) so much. There was quite a mix of travellers, from your aussies to your families to your european travellers. I would not say it was focussed for any particular 'style' of traveller. Seemed very child-friendly. Great beauty spa on location! Would highly recommend it, did not have one bad experience and its so affordable.

Cheap and Cheerful Family Accomodation”

location, affordability, connecting rooms

Melasti Beach Resort and Spa is not 5 star and people must remember that you get what you pay for. This being said we would definitely return to the Melasti again. The resort is old, more traditional and a little run down. We had connecting second floor rooms overlooking the pool. The rooms were enormous with huge beds, lounge suits, fridges and TV's and all with a balcony overlooking the pool. The rooms were clean and in working order with good security. The room staff were lovely and trustworthy. I liked that they made a point of introducing themselves and advising that they would be looking after our room for the duration of our stay. We used the room safe and had no issues. The two pools were fantastic. Food and drink were reasonably priced around the pool - far cheaper than when we stayed in 5 star accommodation during the same trip. Breakfast was great overlooking the ocean. This is a newly refurbished restaurant so is more modern than the rest of the resort. We felt really safe here and hence were able to give the kids a bit more freedom with moving between swimming pools etc. The beach directly in front of the hotel is perfect. We spent a day surfing and lying on sun lounges. Shopping in this area of Bali is our favourite. The streets to the rear of the hotel are newly upgraded. All are cobblestone. The footpaths are perfect and there is lots of shade. In all honesty there was nothing to fault at the Melasti. It was cheap, clean, safe and in a perfect location.

Exceptional”

Melasti is an “old Bali” style hotel in a perfect location, surrounded by shops, restaurants and right on Legian Beach. The staff do their best to accommodate room requests prior to check in. I’ve stayed in both Deluxe and Suite rooms and they are spacious and clean. Cleaning, restaurant, bar, reception and security staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfasts and restaurant meals are delicious and affordable. The gardens and 3 pools are clean and maintained constantly. On the downside, the shower heads in the rooms I’ve stayed in need work and a couple of the room’s air conditioners weren’t working. On the first visit this problem was fixed promptly, unfortunately this time we had to remind staff 3 times that it wasn’t working- we checked out before seeing if it was fixed. If a value for money holiday is what you are looking for you can’t go past the Melasti and it’s PERFECT location. My family and I will definitely be back for more visits.

Great value”

location, room size, friendly staff

The Melasti is in a great location and was perfect for a cheap and quick getaway trip with the girls. We wanted our own rooms which is why we went for this hotel as it was affordable. I booked a deluxe room but my girlfriends could only get standard rooms however they both were able to upgrade on arrival to a deluxe for an additional $20 per night. The deluxe rooms have balconies and have much larger bathrooms than the standard as well as the room itself being larger with a nice sitting area. The rooms are getting a little worn but for the price this place is a bargain. The Melasti is beachfront in Legian but similar to all beachfront hotels you enter via the street behind (there is a wide pathway at the front of all the hotels that you cross to get to the beach). The staff were always helpful and friendly. We were given a generously late check out of 3pm. In the same situation, I would definitely stay at the Melasti again.

Tropical Paradise!”

Value for money, great location, good size, clean & well appointed rooms, great pools & swim up bar, excellent facilities, beautiful grounds, friendly staff.
Noisey people in the pool late at night and early morning.

Being a 1st time solo traveller, I was a little anxious but I need not have been as I had the most fantastic, relaxing 6 days at the Melasti Beach Resort & Spa and can't wait to go back. The facilities and services provided at this resort are excellent and the location on Legian Beach is a major plus for long walks. There is an abundance of great shopping, restaurants and transport just outside the gates of the resort. What more could you want?

Clean,spacious rooms, friendly staff .”

Location, beachfront,staff.

Melasti Legian is situated directly on the beach, you can watch the sunset from a beanbag with a cold drink or laze on a beach chair during the day. There are many restaurants along the road out front of the resort, and good shopping out the front. Melasti is perfectly positioned for the family not wanting to be in the hustle and bustle of Kuta but still wanting to be amongst the shopping and restaurant areas. Breakfast is buffet style with cereal, some hot choices, fruit and sweets. Prices are quite reasonable for room service.

a pleasant stay”

Staff, position,general cleanliness

When l booked at the Melasti l accepts that it was not going to be a 5star hotel. I had read the reviews of other found some to be accurate and many unreasonably unfair. Yes it's not a new Hotel, yes it's a little tired and yes l had a few (very minor) issues. I only had to ask once for anything that l needed attended to and it was done. The fact that the hotel wasn't new didnt effect or spoil my stay. The breakfast was basic juices, pastry, a lovely egg cooking station fruits etc but as I'm a toast and coffe for breakfast person it suited me. Despite not being 5 star a little old in places you simply cannot go past the price for lovely staff who look after you, happily attend to your every request and that you are able to stroll along the beach that is at you're backdoor I had a lovely time at the Melasti and would go back. My only request to the Melasti is that you treat the Hotel to NEW pool furniture and thick cushions. There are so many people in Bali who could do this for you very cheaply l expect.

Great resort, great rooms & beautiful staff.”

Everything.. Staff are beautiful, friendly, always smiling & helpful, rooms are great & great location

my friend & i stayed for 10 days in seperate suite cottage rooms. these rooms are huge and we found them very quiet as they were away from the motel style rooms. the staff are very friendly and helpful and always smiling..nothing was ever too hard or a problem. the food in the restaurant was beautiful and we tried several other restaurants, which are just a short walk from melasti as well so we did have a comparison. the location, right on the beach at legian was great and it was very relaxing having breakfast every morning watching the waves and listening to the surf. i will definitely go back there again and i would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a balinese style resort rather than a motel or hotel room that you can get anywhere in australia. loved it !!!!!!!

Read mixed reviews about the melasti. Couldn't believe anyone who would write a bad review about this resort. Was amazed when we arrived to find friendly staff. Booked superior room and asked for a new renovated room.. Huge room. Big fridge. Balcony over looking pool. Fantastic. Did look at older rooms which are still big and nice but overlook a different pool. Big resort.. Lovely luscious grounds. Beachfront. Lovely big dining area. Basic breakfast but for the price we paid for room was exceptionally cheap. Pool bar and pool fantastic with cheap drinks. Absolutely loved the melasti and will would recommend to anyone.

Great holiday! Excellent value - we will be back!”

3 great swimming pools, excellent staff, great location

My boyfriend & I (age 27 & 32) have recently returned from a 5 night stay at Melasti and we had a great holiday! After reading recent reviews we were a little nervous and not expecting too much but my expectation were definitely surpassed! It was our first time in Bali and the Melasti was perfectly located close to the beach, shops, bars & restaurants but far enough from the craziness of Kuta to be relaxing (a $3 taxi ride if you want to go there though!) The staff were excellent and friendly, rooms spacious & very clean, 3 swimming pools (2 with swim up bars!), breakfast room/restaurant overlooking the ocean with a great selection of choices, lovely well kept gardens - everything we wanted and more. Yes the hotel is a bit dated but it really is excellent value for money, we will be choosing Melasti again when we go back next year.

Older couple”

The Melasti must be one of, or the best value hotel in Bali . The rooms are spacious , well set out and clean. The area is lovely, bars , spars , shops, and resteraunts right at your back door. The beach and beach bars are right at your front door, or vice versa..?? The beach and beach bars are outside the lovely hotels resteraunt. the breakfast and all food is first class. No extra to get room service.. The staff are all happy and helpful, at all times of day or night. We have had numerous Bali holidays, and always finish it at the Melasti. Our home from home

Melasti Beach Resort and Spa, Legian, Bali”

The staff were always helpful and very friendly. The beach in front of the Hotel was a lot quieter than Kuta and Seminyak and the room rates very very reasonable. The breakfasts were healthy and I miss my morning omletes. The beer at the roadside bar was cold and cheap. We used Baldey's car hire from the Hotel on several occasions and we found him very knowledgable and his driving of an etremely safe standard. We hired a motorbike from just across the road from the Hotel entrance and the serice was good here as well. The sunset cocktails in the beachfront restaurant are a nice way to end the day however you will get hit the tax on top. Agong, who welcomes you to Breakfast, is a lovely Lady and well worth getting to know.
The plumbing fittings left a little to be desired as we only had a standard room however any minor problems we had were dealt promptly by the staff.I feel that the garden area at the beach front of the hotel could be better utilised for guests. The music from the pool bars leave a bit to be desired however the oys will normally change it if it annoys you.

My Daughter and I stayed at the Melasti Beach Resort and Spa for 10 nights and recommend this Hotel for families and couples. The location at Legian is a good one with the beach straight out the front beng a lot quieter than to the North and South. We used the Hotel transport vehicles on several occasions to sight see and we would recommend Baldey as being a very safe driver. The motorbike hire from across the road from the Hotel entrance was also very reasonable. The breakfasts are the same every morning however there are plenty of healthy options to choose from. The highlight of the Hotel is the helpfullness of all of the staff.

Good value”

Close to beach and shops and friendly staff

I enjoyed my stay at the Melasti. Staff, both Reception and cleaning were efficient and friendly. Pool area was relaxing and not too busy. I upgraded my room to Superior as I wasn't happy with a standard, as no balcony and the bathroom was tiny. The superior room was a good size and had a massive bathroom, but the curtains were too sheer next to my bed hence I had trouble sleeping in. Melasti Spa was good and had a lovely facial, foot massage and cream bath. Prices were reasonable and the therapists were good. Would recommend the Melasti. Really couldn't complain as weren't paying 5 star price to stay in such a well located hotel.

GREAT,FANTASTIC,FUN,PEACEFUL & FRIENDLY STAFF”

I love with the environment that very quiet and peaceful with surrounding by beautiful gardens, pools and beach thus the staffs are very friendly and offer help when needed to ensure our stay is very meaningful and feel like home. It is an easy access to town and own its beautiful beach and make us like staying in private place. It is easy to rent transportation and many shop lots that selling beautiful craft and we can just walk nearby to enjoy the view and shopping. We can access to town nearby and enjoy d environment in bali but there is no regret when we enjoy ourselves in quite place like melasti n happening place in town at the same time. What a wonderful feeling. Good for couples and families type that want romantic and fantastic memorable time cause it will be more relaxing cause we are not close to havoc places. Keep up good quality in melasti and i wl continue suport and romote to others as well.

Bali at a price”

Position, room, Staff

For the price we paid we felt the Large (1 in 4) villa was very nice in most areas:size, Comfort, amenities room boy veranda etc. only bad things were; sewerage smell in bathroom which could be easily fixed by adding an s trap to the basin? The 1st jug did not work 2nd Jug took forever to boil and then did not turn off?TV did not work when we arrived?(all things were attended to quickly when notified however if everything in the room was checked at the end of each stay it would offer a much better experience for the new customer checking in. Overall for the price we enjoyed our stay as we do not like where Bali is going with the big hotels ( might as well stay home or go to the Pacific Islands which are closer for the Island experience)We believe the street appeal is poor which is why people at home questioned our decision to stay at Melasti? Staff overall were wonderful nothing was a problem for them. Breakfast was ok could have had a bigger selection each day rather than changing the selection daily. We did not try the restaurant as there are so many great restaurant we know from previous visits. Pool area let us down. The Main pool was to concrete & noisy, the long pool was better. Pool towels were almost non existant? We have mostly stayed at Bali Mandera in the past however their pricing since the new pool takes away the budget holiday that we come to Bali for each year.( there are a lot of other places in the world to visit and I fear if bali continues to increase its prices and build multi story it will see the demise of their tourism). In finishing we would return to Melasti on our next visit as the problems I have pointed out are not large are only annoying and could easily be fixed. Peter Davidson

Great Value resort right on the Beach”

Firstly I would like to say the staff are all excellent and most eager to please. The resort is very dated and the utilites are not the best. We stayed in a Deluxe room and the room was huge. We had a few problems in our room with the bathroom facilities and reported it to reception and they moved us to another room straight away which was excellent service. The pools were really good and had swim up bars. The beach is right out the front so you had a daily choice of beach or pool. Lots of restuarants, shopping and bars all around the area. Breakfast was OK but not the best I've had but was enough to get you going for the day. After we settled in the Melasti became quite a good home base. Feeling sorry for all the staff there as hard times are coming with the Corona virus probably shutting down most of Bali. Overall, not 5 star but for the budget minded it is great value.

Great location with huge rooms”

location - right on Legian Beach, friendly staff

My family and I always stay at the Melasti when visiting Bali as it is in a perfect location for us and the staff have never changed in the 4 years we have been staying there and they always treat us as old friends. I love the rooms even though it is a 3 star resort - the rooms are huge, the beds are comfortable, there is aircon and the deluxe rooms have a safe. There are 3 pools and the resort has the beach at the back. The shopping in the area is really good too. It is old and friendly and that is what makes it what it is.

Great Time at Melasti Beach Resort”

Great room, air conditioner worked well, fridge worked well and water was hot and the king bed was fantastic. Staff were helpful and the breakfasts were good. The best feature is the spa - would highly recommend to anyone staying there that you book in for a full body massage and body scrub - absolutely wonderful
It is need of some maintenance - some of the areas in and around the rooms (including the rooms themselves) need attention.

We had a wonderful 8 days in the Melasti Beach Resort. The location is great for anything you need or want to do. The hotel itself provides good service as do all the restaurants and bars in the area. The only thing that detracted from our time there was the attitude of some of the other hotel guests who displayed the ugly yobbo side of the Australian tourist but the hotel and staff would ensure we would not only recommend it to others but will stay there again.

Cottage suite family stay”

Great location for the best price. We love this strip along Legian where you can walk across to the beach with no traffic and having stayed at a couple other expensive ones in the same location, i find the Melasti great value for money. The cottage suite rooms are huge with a separate front room with two fold down beds perfect for a family stay without a huge price tag. Has a couple of pools with shallow areas great for small children! The grounds are kept nicely with pretty gardens and staff are all helpful and friendly.
