Merdeka Hotel Kluang”

Had a pleasant 1 night stay at this hotel with my wife and 5-year old daughter. The hotel which was recently re-furbished (31 Aug 2014) boasts the first hotel to have a lift in kluang in 1963. The room is large and clean, the deluxe king-size bed is bigger than your normal king-size bed and the air-con was cold enough, the tv works fine. Very basic (no fridge, no microwave but there is a kettle to boil water) but comfortable room which i heartily recommnend for travellers to kluang. Value for money too. They allowed us to check out at 1pm and the staff were always polite and friendly.

Memorable Outing ”

This time around i was lucky to book a room in Merdeka Hotel. This place gave us nice cosy feeling during our stay. I would definitely recommend this place to those travelling down south for a quick get away in Kluang especially. Kudos to the management of the hotel.

BEST Hotel in Kluang!!!”

This is presumably the best hotel money can buy in Kluang. This was my third stay in Merdeka and I will be happy to return there should business bring me back to Kluang. The staff are amazing and the hotel is beautiful!!!

Decent hotel for stay”

This hotel is ok and is interesting with it having the oldest lift in Kluang city. Although the lift could be a little scary (with it being the oldest and all), but its a eye opening experience. The manager of the hotel is friendly and would sit with us during breakfast for a quick chat. Room is spacious and overall experience is good.

A Boutique Hotel with a Historical Story”

Cant expect any better for a hotel in the small town of Kluang, Johor. One of the better boutique hotel there with a rich historic history coupled with its colonial concept feel and views of the Gunung Lambak - which is something I missed waking up to! The stay was comfy and relaxing. Just a stone throw away from Kluang town where you can get all the food!

Superb Stay”

Very clean n quite place....morning from room window can see sunrise ...was awsome...pls change the left...I know it is 1st lift at Kluang town...but what's the point it stuck each floor...sometimes never works...others then this this hotel....i would like to stay always when ever i went kluang...cheers

great offer and is a quite place”

Have my short gateaway in Kluang. It is clean and the staff is friendly to help. Room is quite big (corner room) with window view of Kluang town and i am able to open my room window early in the morning for very fresh air. I will definitely choose to stay in this hotel again. But if the tv can upgrade to bigger size with USB port, can score full mark from me!

Mountain View will be best ”

Staff were courteous and friendly, no fridge or hair dryer in room but can be requested from front desk/ housekeeping. Housekeeper also very patient with our repeat request to change kettle. Room is clean and spacious. We got a view of the adjacent garden cafe, if you would like Mountain View, have to request in special request. The elevator sure is something ancient, but very interesting. The walls are pretty thin, can hear upstairs and hallway walking and talking. Not very good for light sleeper. WiFi is fastest at night, acceptable during the day. Location is good provided that you drive. Nothing is too far away. Overall a happy stay and will stay again when I visit Kluang.

Comfy, good location & value for money”

This is my 2nd time staying in this hotel for business trip and this time brought my wife along to experience this cozy hotel and she likes it. Location is not far from town, just beside Kluang country club with nice greenery settings and facing Gunung Lambak. Couldn't ask for more at this price.

Comfortable & Nice Hotel”

This is my 2nd visited to this hotel. I like their hotel lobby deco especially the hotel lobby, it's like a european royal style. The breakfast though only a few choices but it's nice. I highly recommend this hotel to my friends and colleagues if they going Kluang for a short trip vacation.

Excellent Stay at Merdeka Hotel”

The room was brilliant, cosy and comfortable. Good hot shower, good a/c. Price was excellent as well, nothing negative here. And the lift is the oldest in Kluang - quite an experience itself. Will stay here again if I return to Kluang.

Breakfast is nothing to shout about but.....”

Simple breakfast with fried rice, fried noodles, fried mee hoon and fried eggs. Coffee and tea with cordial as drinks. Hotel is clean, well renovated, spacious, cold air cond. Oldest and first lift in Kluang built in 1964. Very friendly staff. True fact... My son saw a figure in the middle of the night picking up things from the floor in the room. He thought was his mother. He went towards the figure as he wanted to go to the toilet but she disappeared. She was about 5ft 5in tall. Looked like Malay woman in the dark. We were in room 109. We are not afraid as it did not harm us or do anything bad.

Came to Kluang for KKM course at Hospital Kluang”

Old hotel renovated to keep up with changing times. Has honor of having first elevator installed in Kluang. No closet, only hook on wall. Room quite dark, poor lighting at table so can't do reading there. Nice, big and comfy toilet. Staff very pleasant and helpful, including security guard uncle outside (very nice Indian chap). Current cook is good, u must try the nasi lemak merdeka, really worth it, fried chicken has an interesting sweet tang, miss it now. One club and exotic dining a minute's walk away. Nice view of the mountain.

Wonderful stay despite poor breakfast food”

I enjoyed my stay at Merdek hotel in overall. However you got to work on your breakfast menu. The taste is totally aweful considering how amazing local Kluang foods are. Please improve your good. Else evetything is perfect. I love my room.

Worth the money”

Room spacious and clean..aircond really cold but i like it..got tv channel and room amenities good..staff very friendly Cons: breakfast is really basic malaysian style breakfast..better have breakfast at kluang railway coffee

Strategic hotel to stay at Kluang, Johor”

Strategic hotel with convenient room to stay and rest. Have 1st elevator in Kluang is one of attractive to stay in the hotel. Good room and have breakfast. also have a nice garden beside the hotel.

Simple & small hotel but with the right amenities”

The hotel is situated in a nice hilly area with no blockage and Kluang country club nearby with greeneries, in fact we are pleasantly greeted with bird chirping in the morning :). Room is spacious, clean and is simply decorated with good size bathroom, good wifi and AXN movie channel. Room equipped with coffee making facilities, slippers, toothbrush, toilet amenities and even a comb (surprise!!). Breakfast is basic and only cost a few dollars more. Car park is well lighted & guarded by security guard, the lots are just outside the lobby which gave guest the assurance of leaving their cars there without worries.

Kampung Luxury”

A gem in the backwater town of Kluang. The entire hotel spells "Elegance" From the Lobby to the room. Just like a mansion in England.

Nice hotel for the budget.”

Hotel was nice, and value for money. It is a little bit far from Kluang town. Facilities was average. And the heater and light in bathroom room was keep blinking when on concurrently. It was quite annoying, we had to take shower either without bathroom light, or without heater. We didn't make complaint until next day as we only stayed there for 1 day.

This is still my place of choice to stay in Kluang. It has a nice historic feel (proudly boasting the oldest lift in the town) and well-equipped rooms. It's not central but it's very easy to take a Grab anywhere.
