Room with wonderful view.”

Spent a night at Merveille Hakone Ryokan. Has a nice onsen with a very comfortable rotenburo. Room is very spacious, good space for little children to run around. Toilet facilities/amenities can be improved slightly though (e.g., shower head was difficult to use). Package came with Japanese breakfast, which was very delicious. Staff even took efforts to introduce each dish that was prepared. There were free ice-cream, coffee and drinks at the lobby for the Ryokan guests. The room that we stayed had a really nice scenic view of the mountains. There's a 24 hrs convenient store nearby, so it was really convenient to grab a snack or necessities.

This hotel is great, and the staff were very responsive to the many questions I had prior to our trip. It's located close to Gora station, which makes travel within Hakone area really easy. We had an open-air bath on the balcony, which is highly recommended. Overall, it was very relaxing and a pleasant stay.

10 mins walk from Gora station, slope is the challenge but similar to most of the hotels at Gora. Hotel do provide shuttle service when you first reach Gora, remember to arrange in advance. Very polite and nice front desk services! breakfast is nice but portion a bit small, can continue to add on rice and miso soup. nice onsen too but a bit small and not outdoor. biggest hotel room in Japan I ever have, clean and enough for small family.

The location was good. Just a cable car's station away from gora. Though not advised to walk to the hotel from gora if u'r carrying luggages, otherwise its just a 10 mins walk away. There is a convenience store outside that opens till 9pm. Room was fantastic with good view and a private bath on the balcony, very worth the price. Personally for my trip the weather was perfect too.

The hotel provides free shuttle services , just go to the information counter at Gora Station and the friendly staff will contact the hotel , the shuttle bus with come within few minutes , book the shuttle service while checking in for free shuttle service to train station while checking out ! The meal which included in our package was wonderful, the room it’s the biggest room I ever stay in japan so far ! Strongly recommended

Great to have shuttle service from train station. Very friendly and helpful front desk who helped us to booked for luggage transport service to Odawara station, so we can explore Hakone attractions before going back to Tokyo. We initially asked whether we can store the luggage after checking out / any luggage storage service nearby, he recommended the luggage transport service. Loves the small onsen tub in our room, the room is super spacious and also loves the products samples provided in the public onsen room.

The hotel located few hundred metres away from Gora Station, need to exercise and walk uphill a bit to reach. They have van to pick up from and send you to Gora station if arranged. Japanese's breakfast is good, in-house onsen is bonus. Happy stay.

Great value”

Ive stayed in gora before at a location 10 times the cost we paid for this room with an open air bath. This was by no means 10 times worse, it was a real pleasant surprise. Its clearly been a booming place in its hayday but still felt lile a real luxury. Great view, great staff, lovely breakfast and for me real value for money.

Hotel closed to Gora Park and is quite convenient to go everywhere. Easy to go to station where a no of restaurants located. The light in the room is quite dark and needs some improvement. Other than that, everything including food and hot spring is good.

Amazing Onsen Experience”

First time experiencing an Onsen Hotel with Kaiseki Meal. It was so delicious! But I wasn't very full from the meal, I am a lady who is not a big eater. So request for more chestnut rice if you need to! We get to choose our Yukata and the Onsen feels good too, even though only 1 semi-outdoor pool. The Onsen provides good face & body cleanser, lotion, moisturizer and hair products. So ladies just need to bring their own make up remover if you have make up on. Free ice candy and good coffee at the lobby, and a payable KTV room at $12 for 1 hour which is not bad. There is a convenience store next to the hotel, where we bought a Sake to drink in our Japanese room at night after onsen & dinner, such an enjoyable staycation in Hakone!

A bit dated but okay for a short stay”

Travelled with a friend to Hakone this Easter, as we booked really late many places were already booked up so we decided on this place that included breakfast & dinner as we heard that places shut really early around the area. The location of the hotel is actually not bad, just a short walk from the tram station and for sure it is a really quick walk down to Gora station if you have no luggage. The meals were good but the hotel is clearly a bit dated with its room setup; it would be great if the bathroom can be a bit bigger as the room itself is actually really spacious. Overall, so so for me as I have stayed in some really great hotel rooms during this trip but this one was just average.

Lucky last minute find in Gora at a reasonable price !”

The hotel is a short walk from Gora Station , right beside the Gora Gardens. It comes with an in-house onsen. Rooms are comfortably big , even when we added two single beds for our 13 and 16 year old , due to limited availbilty of rooms.

The hotel location is not far from Gora Station, just few minutes walk from the station and easy to reach with small luggage. The room was clean though it would be more pleasant to experience a mountain view rather a city view from the Opened Air Bath area. The satffs there were helpful and willing to answer all questions in English.

Location was good, very close to Gora station, however to hike up the slope with luggage is a pain. Better arrange a pick up from hotel. Staff can speak good English and provide good services. Dinner and bkf was OK but you can also have many other choices at 箱根湯本。Room was very spacious and basic. Onsen facility was just basic.

What's bad to say? We travelled entire day to get to the hotel, only complain is the steep road up the hotel, which we could have taken the cable for 1 stop if better directions were provided to station master by hotel. Great service, staff was very helpful and good with English. My family enjoyed the hot bath and hotel facilities with free cookies and ice cream in the lobby. Thank you for a memorable stay!

The hotel room was really big and very comfortable. Very helpful staff. Nice onsen that operate until 1am. The only short coming is that the hotel is located on a hill top. Bringing luggage up the slope needs a fair bit of effort
