Friendly hotel”
I enjoyed the friendly contacts with the people at the reception and especially with their IT-specialist who helped finding me the best possible internet connection. I appreciated the abundant breakfast meal (included in the price). The location was excellent for me since I had to visit many addresses in Yangon by taxi or bus. Attractions of MGM hotel are also the massage parlour, where you get a tough foot or body massage during one hour for only 3.2 dollars. There's also a karaoke bar on the second floor, but because of the high price for a drink (15 dollars) I did not visit it.As well to the right as to the left of MGM there are restaurants which offer excellent local, or Chinese, Japanese, European food.

Great value, high quality”
Fabulous! I have stayed at a lot of hotels in Yangon and outside the city over the past 18 months and the MGM really was great, both for value and overall quality. It looks like hell from the outside but they are renovating the rooms from the top floor downward and the new rooms are great. The restaurant at ground level has tanks with live fish, an indication they take their food seriously. Breakfast upstairs is not impressive, however. There is a GREAT high end Shan restaurant across the street in a beautiful, traditionally styled Shan home. This is where I will stay on future visits to Yangon.

Great Staff and Great Hotel”
I enjoyed the 9 wonderful days at this hotel. The staff treated me like a superstar. I am 2 meters tall, and I had no problems with the bed or shower. The room was cleaned every time I asked .Breakfast was decent Asian style breakfast. The staff kept the food coming even until closing at 9 am. I had read many reviews and can tell you I experienced NONE of the problems others have written about. I loved the location in a quieter area of the city. A mere 15 -20 minute walk to shopping and Chinatown. I had looked at 5 other hotels in Yangon in this price range and settled for this hotel. I was traveling on my own so I was especially appreciative ofhow warm and friendly all the staff were. ... The hotel is a 30-45 min taxi ride from the airport Kyats 8,000 ($6). Taxis into town Kyats 2,000. Faster to walk during rush hour. There are ATM's, money changers, taxis, and street dogs everywhere. There are plenty of restaurants and a 24 h store next to the hotel to fit all budgets. try Doreen's

wonderful neighborhood location”
staff was super helpful and friendly. house keepers were a bit noisy. the breakfast was good, great tea. we loved the neighborhood and the location was not too far away from many things to do, but far enough to not be in the middle of it all. all hotels in yangon are too expensive for what you get...but they are on the right track and if they learned a few more things about hospitality, it would help. we would stay here again, so far our favorite hotel for the price in yangon.

love the location”
great hotel for the money. this is one of the few hotels in yangon where the price is right for the type of room you get. so many places are overpriced! this hotel has a nice breakfast buffet, the rooms are clean and big and the staff is helpful and nice. the neighborhood is wonderful and safe with lots of great restaurants within walking distance. the only complaint would be the wifi, it is spotty and went in and out during our stay. otherwise, the karaoke was fun and the place was quiet and there was hot water.

Great value hotel for the business traveller”
The MGM Hotel is hard to beat for location and value, which is difficult in Yangon with limited capacity. Friendly fun staff that are attentive to your needs, great included breakfast, nice recently redecorated rooms are the ones to choose.

A Very Good & Comfortable Budget Option in Town”
I think this is one of very few hotels in Yangon that provide very reliable wifi internet. Though I can't connect to internet while I'm on bed, standing near the front door just did very good work. For me, though all facilities give a sort of worn-out feelings, MGM is still one of the best budget options considering generous breakfast, comfortable bed, large room and various channels Cable TV. Little down sides would be that the bathroom is not that clean but everything works well and sufficient to what you need. Another downside would be that if you get connecting room, the wall insulation is not that good. You’d hear everything happen in the other room. Very delicious restaurant next door, though prices list on the menu are exclude 15% tax & service charge.

More than we wanted, but very nice”
hotels in yangon are expensive. there is a hostel, but it's not easy to book in advance. arriving without a reservation might work out, or you might end up paying even more than if you just booked a midrange in advance. mgm was really nice if you get a room on the tenth floor. there was air conditioned that could be set to ice-cold, plenty of hot water, and a bath tub. the karaoke is on the third floor but still very loud all the way up on the tenth. if it is too annoying, just wear ear plugs.

Good and affordable city hotel ”
Booked three standard rooms for two nights at a discounted price at Agoda. Requested lower floor due to bad reviews we read about disturbing noise from karaoke lounge on the 11th floor. Rooms on 8th floor and below should be fine. Our rooms and attached bathrooms at 5th floor are spacious and clean. Good free wifi reception at lobby and restaurant, weak but usable in our rooms. Hotel was located about 15-20 mins walk to downtown Yangon where street food and restaurants are plenty. Good buffet breakfast. The negative points during our stay are only one of the two lifts is working and it is slooooow plus refurbishment works on all rooms at lower floor.

M.G.M. Hotel: A great place to stay.”
I had a very pleasant 4 night stay in this hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean, the breakfast was always tasty and a good way to start the day. The Shwedagon Pagoda is about a 30 minute walk or a short taxi ride. The hotels most outstanding feature are its staff, who were extremly friendly and always happy to help. I will use the M.G.M. Hotel again next time I am in Yangon.

Good Location with reasonable price”
The good points of the hotel are the reasonable price, the helful staffs and the location. When I was there, the hotel was under renovation, hotel occupied with dust and construction noise and unpleasant setting. However, the room was still okay, wide bed and very cool aircondition. The staffs were nice and helpful. The hotel locates on the west side of Yangon in a walking distance to a few big Departmentstore, Taw Win Center and Sein Ke Ha on Pyay road and Junction on Anawyahta road. You can easily walk around 20 mins to reach Bogyoke Market.

Good hotel with friendly staff”
I like Yangon , but it is in the begining of tourist, but after 5 years it will be a great city. Transport in city is OK but number on the bus is not good, it is in Burmais. I hop the trani to Mandalay is good , but taks 15 hours. I return to Burma and MGM soon as I can.

MGM Hotel Yangon - customer service was excellent”
The MGM Hotel Yangon is a multi story building it has two elevators. The staff were happy and tried very hard to meet the requests of guests. The staff English skills was fair to good. The Hotel looked a bit run down but seeing a lot of Yangon that is just the way of things. I was travelling with my adult son we enjoied our stay.

Great stay”
the staff is super friendly and helpful. There is free breakfast and it really wasn't bad. Make sure you ask for a new room as I think they have been doing some remodeling. And they will give you bottled water any time you ask for it which IMO is really a bonus because it was HOT. Very comfortable room. Hot shower. TV. And a great location very central if you are sight seeing around Yangon. I would stay again.

Very Good Value For Money (For Myanmar)”
Pretty good place. We're previously stayed at some horrid hostel/hotel which had no windows in the room (as many properties are very narrow as viewed from the road but quite deep) - consequently you've many rooms with now window. MGM - didn't suffer from this. Our room was very large, had all the basics (fridge, TV, kettle). There were a few annoying design faults - where you'd wish they'd built something differently - but all in all, the place was nice enough for us to decide to return to the same hotel on our return leg (before we flew out). Staff were always friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff didn't really know how to make a bed - but otherwise, did know how to clean a room. We would recommend the place for the price.

Fine Hotel, Slighty Out Of Core Area”
If you want Western Standard hotels in Burma, don't bother coming. This is not the US. That said, this place was excellent. The owner is Chinese and runs a tight ship, he also has two other hotels. It was clean and my room was large and his staff were great. It is about a twenty minute walk to the main core of town. If you are not that adventurous this is a great place as there are many restaurants right nearby. Yangon does not have many of what we know of as restaurants. Mainly street food that most westerners would not try (big mistake) so this place has about 4 nearby. All menus provided in English. Overall, just a fine place. Owner is gruff but underneath it all is quite a bit of fun. Good English as well

Functional Hotel 25 minute walk to City Centre”
The MGM Hotel is a high rise (13 storeys) hotel which has seen better days. The hot water and electricity were intermittent on our first visit. This appears to be a common feature of many mid-range hotels in Burma. The hotel was generally well run and rooms were serviced daily. A plentiful hot breakfast was provided. The hotel is about a 25 minute walk to the city or a 10 minute taxi ride. There was always sufficient staff on the front desk to assist you with any needs. We stayed at the MGM when first arriving in Yangon and on our departure. The prices had changed considerably. There was a $25 increase in the room rate over that time!! The standard of the hotel does not warrant a rate increase though, on our second visit, there was constant hot water and electricity. Staff gave us the room at the previous price.

Not great, not bad”
The hotel was okay at best for me. You don't expect any frills at a mid-range price like this in Myanmar. If saving money is your priority in Yangon, its not a bad place to stay. Although I think you can get a lot better for 10$ more or so. The room was basic, not bad at all, however the bed was ridiculously uncomfortable! I swear we both rolled into the middle with the soft mattress bent into a V-shape! Bathroom was spacious, but old, but still ok! Breakfast was average, but decent enough as it was free. It wason the 3rd floor but the room felt like you were in a dingey old basement. Staff were EXTREEMLY nice. Location was alright, as taxis are cheap, I don't think it really matters where you stay in the city. Compared to the other hotel that I stayed at... this one seemed potentially seedy... and that Karoake bar was a little annoying when trying to sleep even on the 6th floor. My boyfriend had no sleeping though. All in all... I wouldnt suggest NOT staying here, but I think there are better options. At the very least, it IS clean though! :D

Acceptable budget hotel”
Since everybody knows how crazy it is in Yangon here now, MGM would be a good choice for a budget hotel. It is located in the very convenient Chinatown and is just a few kilometers away from city center, or this area itself is already a part of the city center I shall say. The room isn't fancy but at least it's clean. And it's safe.
