Simply Amazing. Book now.”
We booked Mikasa for one night for a trip to Nara. We seriously wished we booked more than one night because everything was perfect. The room is very modern and clean and the bedding was so warm and comfy. The view from this Ryokan was also breathtaking. We also tried the baths and they were relaxing as expected. The facilities were very clean and the soap and shampoo they offer is so refreshing!! If we ever come back to Nara and could afford it, we would love to come back. It was an absolute dream and the highlight of our trip. Showing photos to friends, they agreed this ryokan was much nicer than the ones they stayed at.

Amazing view of Nara”
We stayed in the private room with our own onsen. It was an amazing experience. The room was tradition and neatly arranged. The dinner we got the deluxe and it was worth every penny. Would recommend and would come back to this ryokan.

Exceptional”
The experience at Mikasa Ryokan was great!. Transport from train station was very convenient back n forth. We were warmly welcomed with the staff receiving us and checking in was done within a minute. The kaiseki dinner was fantastic! Room was very clean and spacious and the outdoor bath in our room was also great with the view of Nara city. We all enjoyed ourselves though it was only a short 1night stay. Max stars.

Good dinner”
As with most ryokan, the food and service is always impeccable but the facilities are usually in need of a overhaul.

Service was excellent”
The service was top notch! We were served by a lovely taiwanese lady by the name of 莊 throughout our trip there. She was very attentive and explained every dish of the kaiseki dinner to us. Dinner was great and we were all so full after the dinner. We left our luggages at the Mikasa information centre when we reached and went travelling around Nara. We then took a shuttle bus up from the information centre and our luggages were already in our room when we reached.

Environment is great, impressive experience in tatame hotel, people are nice and helpful”
Pros: great environment , good for couples and small family (with a kid). They are a very special night event for sightseeing on the peak, very romantic and feel likes we are in the movie scene. Not many people use hotspa which is great and I love seeing the star at night by myself :) our room has a big empty for overviewing the view of nara, we can really spend out time there by doing nothing happily. Oh pillow is very special too. Ladies got to pick their own japanese dress when they check in which is another highlight point for me!! (Tho it would be great if there is a section to teach us how to dreas it or the cutlure) Meals are great but too much! Cons: Wifi needs to improve.

Great Retreat”
It was a very nice holiday. We dropped bag off at the service centre, explore around Nara park then hopped on the shuttle to the hotel. Dinner and breakfast were amazingly good, great experience. Love the kimono as well. Hot tub in the room was fantastic.

Great”
This was the second time we stayed in a Ryokan hence we were able to make a comparison. Mikes Ryokan is indeed excellent, even if quite expensive. The room was the usual standard ryokan room, but the public bath was better than expected. Dining was superb with great variety and abundant helpings. Breakfast was also very good.

Perfect Ryokan in Nara!”
This Ryokan was splendid! The location with its amazing views, the staff that went out of their way to genuinely please, the delicious meals served in private dining rooms overlooking a Japanese garden, the onsen facilities, plus all the little extras like welcome drinks each time you return from town on the shuttle, a daily choice of Yukata to wear, Shishado toiletries etc. I highly recommend taking a room with the private outdoor bath...it's a truly relaxing/magical experience that can be enjoyed anytime of the day or night!

A less than desirable stay, could have been better with better communication”
We booked into one of this ryokan's best rooms with private outdoor onsen bath. As we were making our way to Nara that day, we called the ryokan from the train asking for the time of the last seating for dinner, to make sure that we don't miss out our booked kaiseki dinner as it was my partner's 30th birthday which we most definitely didn't want to miss out. However the receptionist spoke no English at all and could not offer us any info whatsoever so when we arrived at 21:20 we were told that we missed the time for last order which is at 21:00. Nowhere in our booking does it say when the last order for dinner is. We could have taken the kinsetsu (not covered by our JR passes) had we known when the last order time is or even if we did miss it, we could have bought some food near Nara station. But on this day, we ended up having cup noodles in our room, because the place was so isolated that it was literally impossible to venture out for alternative dining options. The onsen itself was okay though very small compare to other ryokans of similar pricing. I wouldn't recommend this venue if you don't speak Japanese or expect something better for your money.

Nice view up the hill but need to pay the toll”
Very nice view up on the hill side. If you drive there, I think you need to pay for a ticket or toll to get it & out because it is located inside a natural park or something. Very big hotel, nice and clean and beware some rooms are close to the main road and it can be noise. Food is not bad but I think they are a bit short of staff and you may found that you are missing some attention during dinning or reception. Overall, I think it is a bit over priced.

FANTASTIC experience!”
As a couple, we recommend this hotel for anyone wants a quiet and relaxing holiday. Even it is in a remote place, does not reduce the value of the amazing experience here at all!
