Absolutely Perfect Ryokan for a beginer”
First, this Ryokan is connected to another brand new Ryokan ‘yumotokan’, and you can use their onsens(public bath) with 6 bucks.There are many onsens on different floors, so you can enjoy various types of onsens. You must try their kaiseki(dinner) and breakfast, you won’t be dissapointed. Staffs are really nice and kind, but their English isnt that good, so get a translator or dictionary.

Child friendly ryokan with onsen”
The dinner and breakfast were delicious. our room was clean and tastefully decorated. We had a 9 month old baby with us and we didn’t order any food for her, but she was still given her own set meals for free! Most of them were more suitable for older children (parents ended up eating most of them), but we still appreciated the thoughtfulness. The staff was also friendly and courteous. We had a great time and will surely visit again! :)

I would not consider the dinner we had as a "Kaiseki Dinner" but instead just a regular dinner with selection of flat fish (very small), pork and vegetable nabe, and couple of other selection. "Chawan-mushi" was served with lai yu Sauce (Chinese chili oil often used for eating gyoza) which was certainly a surprise. This particular dish should be served at the beginning of the meal but not so...we got it toward the end of meal. We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor and they did not have an elevator so we had to walk up and down 42 steps each time we went out. Onsen bath as well as restaurant were located on the 1st floor. This property has more foreigners than the domestic guests. The Onsen bath doesn't seem to be very clean and this could be the result of some bathers not practicing the bath etiquette. Room came with toilet but no shower or bath.

Never been to an onsen hotel so bad”
Hotel is old and dated. Dinner was ok but Japanese breakfast was bad. No lift and we had to carry our big baggage climbing up. Hot spring water was not hot enough. Difficult to find the way as Agoda didn’t provide its phone number and hotel name in Japanese.

Affordable Ryokan with great onsen options”
I stay here after skiing in Biwako Valley, it's very good experience, they will pickup you in station after you call them. They also have shutle bus to station at certain time. Their food are good, traditional japan food, traditional japan room with affordable price. Just take notes, there is no lady to service you like in other ryokan. They have 2 onsen for free and by paying a small amount of money (600yen) you can access other onsen in nearby sister hotel including the rooftop onsen!

Traditional Japanese ryokan with a reasonable price”
We came all the way from Nara so it was a bit of a journey for us. It took a while from Kyoto station, which make this a great destination for who wants to stay at quiet, peaceful place. I also highly recommend their sister ryokan's onsen facilities which you only need to pay 600yen more to use. Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast was a very delightful experience. I would definitely stay at this ryokan on the next time.

I discovered "Ryokans" in Japan which are traditional japanese style hotels: this means they typically have hot baths which are open from 5am til late and serve you a traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner. The staff is very polite and the hotel was very comfortable.

the hotel is clean, comfortable, good looking japanese style. staffs are very nice. convenience for reaching train station by hotel shuttle bus (depart to train station on fix schedule) and courtesy car (pick up from train station to hotel by phone call). the hot springs in Yumotokan (sister hotel) are really great.

Nice and comfortable place. Meal is delicious and staffs are nice too. Though it's a bit pity that there's no private shower in the room. There's free shuttle bus to JR station and pick-up back to hotel. But the pick-up service is only available from 14:00 while this timing is not noted on the website.

It’s a aged motel, the environment was aged and a little bit small, but the room was cozy, new, clean, and sizeable. You may enjoy the better hot spring facilities of the another nearby motel by adding 600yen per person. You should try it. If you would like to upgrade your dinner, you also may add 2000yen for grilled wagyu. It was a great expensive at a reasonable price

Best hotel ever!”
I stayed just 1 night with my family, but I'm so regreful that I didn't stay longer. The way they talk and behave was so nice and thoughtful. The dinner and breakfast was full of rich flavor! Especially, the public bath was breath-taking even thou I paid extra charge for using Umotokan bath. You will never regret to use this Ryokan. Thank uou for everything! I hope I visit here with my whole family again!
