Funky and friendly hotel”

Loved our overnight stay at Ovolo 1888. The staff at reception were excellent and super friendly. The design of the hotel is unique and very cool. The downstairs bar and restaurant area is also a great place to hang out. We were fortunate to get an upgrade to a loft room which was spacious, modern and really well designed with everything thought of. The location was great also as it was just behind Darling Harbour so an easy walk there or around Pyrmont. We couldnt fault it and would happily stay there again. Thanks Ovolo 1888

Best night in Sydney in Years”

We booked Ovolo 1888 because it was close to where our daughter and her friend were attending an event. We were most pleased with the whole experience. While sharing a couple of appetiser plates trying to decide where to dine in Darling Harbour on a Friday night, we were more than pleased to continue working our way through the menu of share plates, grazing as we felt like it. The food was excellent, short waiting time following each order. The wine was very agreeable with a list of cellar specials that would satisfy most palates. The service was attentive without being obtrusive and very professional with it. The rooms are small but adequate (given the constrictions of the old building in which it was established) and furnished very well. The beds are sublimely comfortable and there is generous space allotted to the bathroom, in goodly proportion to the overall room space. For a one-night stay, it was memorable for being so pleasant. We certainly would stay there again.

Can’t go past Ovolo!”

This is the second stay at Ovolo 1888 and again I was wowed by the place. The staff are so friendly and obliging, the location is great and the rooms are so well equipped. This hotel thinks of everything with nice touches wherever you look. Free minibar, Alexa, phone charging points and super comfortable beds. The location is great too with Darling Harbour in your doorstep and a convenience store close by. I will be back next trip to Sydney

The Best in Sydney”

We stayed twice. Before our cruise and after. We Love, Love ,Love the Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbor. Everything was great from the breakfast to the cocktail hour and our stocked minibar. We told everyone on our cruise that if they have a chance to stay in Sydney, to stay at the Ovolo 1888.

Wonderful Ovolo 1888”

Ovolo 1888 is truly a one-of-a-kind hotel. From the outside, it looks like any other joint. Step in and you'll be amazed by its classy industrial interior. The room we had on the second level is a little small, but everything inside is efficiently organised. Quite a number of freebies from the room as well. This is something we found unique. We had breakfast and while it was simple, it was truly wholesome. Overall, we found Ovolo 1888 to be a place where one can find warmth and comfort!

Awesome hotel with great staff”

Our 1st time in this hotel and it was great! Service was great,especially Dorothy & Vicky who were very friendly and helpful. They recommend us places to eat/go. Hotel is conveniently located;within walking distance to darling harbour (<5 mins). It was also pretty near the light rail (Convention Stn) and very thoughtful of the hotel to send us directions from light rail to hotel before our trip; just take carpark lift to lvl 4, exit carpark and you can find the hotel directly opposite. Abt 15-20 mins walk to city via the bridge at darling harbour. Hotel also provided complimentary snack bar and mini bar, which is replenished daily. The only downsides was that pillow was too soft and that shower area was abit small with no door to close to separate the shower area completely. Hence, water will splash out and you may feel cold. Overall, we would recommend to stay in this hotel due to the awesome service and great location. Never regret booking this hotel. We will definitely be back!

Great option in Pyrmont”

This is my first time staying at Ovolo and it won't be the last, as I often come to Sydney on business. I have always stayed at the Novotel across the road before but I managed to get this hotel at comparable rates, as I booked a few weeks in advance. The staff are really fantastic - very helpful and friendly. The room (I booked a Queen) was small-ish but absolutely fine. I was able to work from the desk for a few hours every night. I wouldn't have wanted to be in a smaller sized room though, as I was there for 4 nights. The restaurant was great, although the menu was relatively limited for room service. Location was perfect for my needs but it's very close to Darling Harbour and the bridge taking you into the main city area. Really happy with my stay and I would definitely book again.

Loved the whole stay at Ovolo 1888. Checkin was quick, room was very nice, yes small but everything you need and more with the freebies. Ate the first night at the restaurant which was very nice too. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly and helpful. Will be staying here again when we next visit Sydney.

4-star hotel with 5+++star service”

This is the only place I've stayed in Australia where the staff were always smiling! Each and every one of the staff always ready and willing to lend a hand. I also liked the diversity of staff, who were from various cultural backgrounds. This along with the extra inclusions (free mini bar replenished daily, free happy hour (x 2 hours) and free buffet breakfast) made you feel like you were being treated like royalty. The location was easy to navigate, with a short walk to access various transport options. I would come back here again and again! Keep on providing the amazing client centred service Ovolo 1888!

Trendy hotel with nice extra touches”

Great location for darling harbour and convention centre. Nice little touches like the free unlimited minibar, Alexa, iPad, and sulfate free shampoo/conditioner. Mister Percy is a great restaurant (food much better than most tourist traps around Darling Harbour) which is conveniently in the lobby. They also have a shower in the lobby bathroom that can be used post AM checkout, to freshen up before an evening flight. Would have appreciated a firmer pillow - those provided were too soft for my liking. Overall a great short stay in Sydney.

OVERNIGHT STAY ”

i booked the Ovolo as we were going to watch a show at The Star. Its only down the road from the casino and sits behind Darling Harbour. Great Location as it was easy to drive and park straight across the road from the hotel. I had stayed at their Wolloommooloo Hotel before and loved it. So its the same great set up but on a smaller scale. The staff are wonderful too. Would recommend to couples and friends, maybe not to families with small kids...

Chic hotel in Sydney ”

I told myself that I should experience 1888 hotel when I saw the news of this instagram themed hotel. Having stayed in a couple of boutique hotels and also an instagram junkie, all the most I should try this property. With a few minutes walk to the Convention center Light Rail station, 1888 hotel is pretty accessible and darling harbour is just next to the hotel. Converted from an old building, the design of the lobby is very modern and contemporary, with a touch of historic feel like traces of torn walls and bare walls, which can be found in both the lobby and the rooms. Love the layout of the lobby, and every corner in the lobby is a good choice for photography. Check in was fast with the help of friendly frontdesk staff from Italy. Love her passion towards helping me in introducing places to go around the hotel precinct. I'd gotten a loft room and the design was lovely. The bed on the upper deck was soft and comfortable, but it's a tad too soft for my liking. It's a pity that there wasn't many channels for my to choose from other than the local channels. But the free wifi is good enough to keep me updated with information I need. Lovely boutique hotel to check out if you want something different from the usual business hotels offered in the city.

small, friendly, modern hotel in the city center”

We went for a city break away from the kids and wanted something other than a big chain hotel. 1888 was perfect. Not too big, it felt friendly, the staff were fantastic. The room (king) was clean and modern with a comfy bed and nice bathroom. We had breakfast in bed which arrived promptly and was very reasonably priced (I can recommend the 1888 granola). I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends. I did a lot of research for hotels before our our city break and found some reviews for this hotel on Tripadvisor which all raved about it. It definitely lived up to expectations.

Week stay ”

We very much enjoyed our stay at the 1888 Darling Harbour, the breakfast was very good rooms clean and comfortable and staff friendly. The free happy hour was a great touch and the staff very attentive on toping up your drink. The mini bar which is also included and topped up daily was great as well although the snacks it mentions are not refilled which seemed a little cheeky on a 6 night stay. The front staff arranged our cab to the airport for us which was also very helpful. Over all a great place to stay and in a great location.

Convenient, clean and quiet.”

My wife and I were visiting Sydney for the night to attend the theatre nearby at the Star Casino. The Ovolo was the perfect overnight option for us, close to venue and quiet for an uninterrupted nights sleep. Whilst the rooms are cosy, the hotel has all the mod-cons you could need and is on the doorstop of great dining and the harbour. Looking forward to our next stay.

We wanted to stay at a hotel near to all the great places to visit in the Darling Harbor area, and this one turned up in our Internet search. The room is classic with what appears like original timber beams but tastefully matched with all the modern amenities. The front desk was extremely helpful in suggesting nice places to eat at and to see; the location is within walking distance to the Sydney Fish Market where we had great seafood at very reasonable prices. A short walk away are must-see places like the National Maritime Museum, Cockle Bay, the Pyrmont Bridge and the Sydney Convention Centre. Another short walk will bring you to Market Street and Elizabeth Street - a shopper's haven. Our two-day stay there was just enough to see, shop and eat to our hearts' content.

I loved my stay at Ovolo 1888 - this property is just beautiful with so many features the old guard hotels could learn from. The restaurant was excellent with some lovely wines and great meals. I am very disappointed that my stay was only for one night. I look forward to heading back another time.

This place is amazing. I really love, love, LOVE their business model. Our room was small but extremely functional - it was obvious that quite a bit of thought had gone in to it. I appreciated the refillable pump packs of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion and hand wash rather than the small, wasteful packs you usually get. Everything in the mini bar (including all alcohol, chips, nuts and confectionary) was free and who doesn't like a freebie????? There was a choice of a buffet or hot breakfast and excellent coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was only 5 minutes walk from Darling Harbour and 10 minutes walk from the Lyric Theatre. On top of that, there were jars of lollies around the hotel which you could help yourself to. We will definitely be staying there again.

Great Location”

The location of this hotel was excellent for the purpose of our visit. Close to Sydney Lyric Theatre and we enjoyed walking through Darling Harbour to the CBD and Circular Quay. Easy access to ferry and light rail if walking is not a preferred mode of getting around. The buffet breakfast included with our accommodation was very good.
