The location of the hotel is right next to central park and fifth avenue. Subway across the street and easy to flag down a cab. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Will stay here the next time I come to NYC

We had a great weekend at the Park Lane. It is close to everything we like to do with our children. We have a 3 1/2 year old and a 4 month old. The room was big enough and the staff was great! Wonderful stay and cant wait to go back!

International travellers beware of the extra charges when you book that are charged at the end of your stay.... taxes and charges for "free internet, phone calls and happy hour everyday" are charged at a block price of $33pp per day. So make the most of these "free" options! Great hotel and fantastic location, don't expect to get a park view other than Mondays or Tuesdays....

Decent centrally located Hotel”
1) Location, location, location
I have stayed there before. It is a perfectly decent centrally located Hotel which is across the road from Central Park and very close to the shopping on 5th Avenue or Columbus Circle in the other direction. The rooms are a decent size by Manhattan standards and the Hotel though looking a little dates is clean and seem to be well run. You could do a lot worse than this in Mid Town.

upscale hotel for business or leisure”
outstanding location
the best feature of the helmsley park lane hotel is its location on central park south. this hotel is the tallest building in the area, so you may wish to spend more for a room with a view on one of the top floors. note that rooms in this area are not inexpensive (fifth avenue is just a block or two away). rooms are spacious and very comfortable, but some of the furniture is a bit out of date. smoking rooms are available on request. bathroom amenities are very nice. while a majority of staff were absolutely professional, i found that one or two individuals could have been more courteous and competent.

Facilities fee hassle through both Agoda and hotel”
The hotel was as pictured, our room was clean and a great location. The facilities fee is a total rip off - $33 per room per night pays for guest wifi and a free bar between 5-7pm. We used the bar once for one glass of prosecco and would rather this have been optional - when you are on holiday you are out exploring not drinking in the hotel. Also, we pre-aid the facilities fee through Agoda and they claimed to have no reference of this, I had to discuss with someone three times that I shouldn't be charged, and at the airport on the way home, found they had charged my credit card TWICE for the facilities fee and had to call them again. Not impressed with Agoda or the hotel for having to fix what should have been something quite straightforward and added stress to an otherwise pleasant stay. Would recommend the hotel because of its location and overall cleanliness, but not by booking through this website, deal with them direct and prepare for overpriced facilities fee (with added tax).

Beware of cheats, stinky bathrooms”
Without telling their guests, they sneak in a "facilities charge" of forty dollars a night for providing internet, telephones and a cheap breakfast that is worse than one at a street vendor, and not worth even two dollars. What really bugged me is the lack of principle: THEY SNUCK IN THE CHARGE WITHOUT TELLING YOU OR GIVING YOU THE OPTION. you only find out upon check out that you'd received these "facilities" at their "resort". Ha! Oh and the bathroom stinks like the sewer. The plumbing must be a hundred years old. Yech.

Excellent place for the rich!”
This is an excellent but expensive place for travelers. The facilities in the building are old and might not work well to withstand bad weather (e.g. I lived there on May 27th, which is unexpectedly freezing compared to days before and after in NYC.). However, counter managers are very hospitable and could be helpful to solve the problems you might meet. NOTE that you will be charged a $37 per day facility fee not included in your prepayment!!!! I was quite confused about this charge when I was leaving but I find this website that explains everything (http://killresortfees.com/newyorkcity/). And I have to say this is the only thing that I am not happy with.

Good location but unnecessary charges ”
Our room was next to some sort of water system that sounded like running water constantly. I did report it but nothing was done. The room was fairly clean, few hairs in the bathroom. There was also a pin on our carpet and I also saw some in the hallway outside our room. Not ideal when you have a toddler on the floor. Room size was good and bed although a little lumpy was comfortable. The real negative feedback I have is that when you check in you have to pay a retainer for any money spent - £168. Then on check out you have to pay a further £85 for facilities. The retainer is then returned but I feel this is unnecessary. Keeping card details would be enough. Location is perfect for getting to central park and mid town.

Remove the carpets in the rooms and it's a fantastic hotel. Though clean as can be the carpets are now looking tired. Replace the old bathtubs/showers with shower stalls. Done and it's one of the best hotels in NY.

Great location, spacious room. There was $33 fee added, but there is a hospitality hour from 5-7, which was nice. There was no coffee maker in the room, or blow dryer, frig, or ice bucket... but we did not have a need for any of those items.

great location but hidden costs”
The location is amazing and you can walk everywhere: Central Park, and shops. I was saving money on transport costs so location was important. Room was great, staff ok, took 5 hours to have a pachage delivered from downstairs to my room. Room service was pricey and even though I had prepaid for the hotel, I still got hit with daily facility charges on checkout. If everything was all inclusive in stated price it would be better. Instead their advertised price is lower then still charge you more. Overall still a good experience. I would stay here again because of location.

Dissapointed by reception staff”
Reception staff was saying we only paid 1 of the room and demand payment of the other room, when we actually already paid in full for both rooms, she was also being rather rude which is a dissapointment since the rooms are not cheap. We are also dissapointed since there is no coffee/ tea maker set in the room which should be basic amenities. Old building, need refurbish especially the hallways to the rooms. Lobby still looks good and Concierge staffs are wonderful though.

Great location but there are other adjoining hotel”
location and room size
Upon check in, front desk read my voucher and handed me 2 keys. Given rm 2015 and entered into a much bigger hotel room than most for the price. Upon checking the bathroom, though older had good basic needs for a traveler. Except the toilet seat had horrible inside stains which was not answered despite my calls. The room though it says int he contract with city view had the back building views. So much less for the Central Park South view! I would attach pictures if I could here. On check out I was given a bill of $130 for facilities usage. I argued this amount and discovered it meant for the wifi, 2nd floor welcome drinks and supposed free coffee which was not even mentioned upon check in. The wifi I had to argue was a feature I considered when booking for a hotel and saw it indicated in agoda that it was free. Only then did they let go. Was this necessary? There are many other hotels adjoining that is worth checking at the rate I paid for this 4 nights stay. Bed and the size of the room is however very comfortable. BTW I had to ask for a small refrigerator, cause the room didn't have any. Would I stay here again? NO

Tired hotel in great location”
1. Location 2. Views of Central Park 3. Room size
You can imagine that the Park Lane was a stunning hotel 20+ years ago. The main reception/bar area still looks very grand but the room we were given was tired and in need of a refresh. The location is the selling point of this hotel. They tell you at check-in that there is a $30 (excl tax) per night facilities charge that includes wi-fi and free drinks & canapés from 5-7pm in the bar. I didnt argue about this but did feel a little agrieved but it turns out at check-out i was only charged $60 (for 6 nights) which seemed fair as i had used the wi-fi and had visited the 'free' bar at least 3 times. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room but there are plenty cafes and a couple of starbucks within a few minutes walking distance. The staff were very helpful & polite. We paid approx £115 and that seemed fair based on the location.

Prime location, very clean and modern room, price
My husband and l had a lovely stay here. We wanted a great location with a holiday vibe and the Park Lane easily fit this description. Also, everything was very new and modern, and the subway station was a 1~minute walk away. I would absolutely stay here again!!
