    A Slice of Heaven in the Japanese Alps”

    This hotel exceedes my expectation. We stayed here for 2 nights. The owner is one of the nicest people we've met in Japan. He picked us up from Hakuba Station and drove us to Hakuba 47 the next day. He even taught us how to ski since it was our first time. We rented all the skiing gear from him and got lift passes for half the price! It was worth it and it saved us a lot of money. The breakfast was sublime!!! It was the best breakfast we ever had in Japan <3 Each dish had different flavors and all the ingredients were fresh. It was so delicious. I cannot recommend this place enough. I promise you, you won't regret it. You will be treated like royalty. TIPS: 1. You may call the hotel to schedule a pick-up from the telephone booth at Hakuba Station. The owner will not pick you up if you arrive 6pm onwards. Dial 02 + the hotel's phone number. Do not include the country code. 2. Most restaurants around the area are only open during the Winter Season. The nearest 7-11 is a 20-minute walk away from the hotel. If you want to eat dinner, you must inform the owner one day in advance. Enjoy!!!

    1/ Location is everything. Pension Chauchau is close to Escal Plaza, which is major entrance of Goryu and like the base camp of skiing in Goryu and 47. This is also where you have all the shuttle buses including paid buses Line HV-3 heading to other ski areas and free buses circling around the Goryu area. 2/ easy access to Goryu. Walk 500m uphills to Escal Plaza or walk 30m to St Marute bus stop to take the free shuttle bus to Escal Plaza (every 30mins). 3/ Host Hitoshi San is very helpful and resourceful. Pick-up arrangement, discounted ski ticket, discounted onsen ticket (白馬龍神温泉) all add extra value for money. I had a very good time here.

    Staffs are so nice. You could find them anytime for any inquiry. Very Quite place with beautiful nearby, close to Hakuba Goryu and could take shuttle to Hakuba 47 also. They could also pick u or send u to JR station. Would recommend it for sure.

    Really nice couple running the inn. It's a bit dated but everything is clean. Wi-Fi is weak depending on where you are within the facility but manageable. If you can, go for the breakfast; it's affordable and surprisingly well made. You can tell that whoever made it is a natural cook. Would definitely stay here again.

    Super nice cottage with nice owner”

    Great services by the owner. He run the place with his wife and the place is very well kept and cleaned. We stay for 2 nights in a room with a private bathroom as we travel with young kids and the room was spacious. Hakuba Goryu ski is just walking distance from the lodge and a convenience store is a bit further about 1.1km. However, it was a pleasant walk, with great views of snow mountains, I don't mind to walk at all! It was snowing the whole day when we stay and it was a pleasant and beautiful stay. There's few restaurant and bars around the lodge but there is no halal-friendly place around the area so muslim travelers may need to pack up some food or just eat seafood and takoyaki.

    The place is great, the staff are friendly.”

    When we arrived at Escal Plaza around 8 AM the parking near the building was full. We tried to call Pension Chau chau if we can park our car even if the check-in time is 3pm, the let us use there parking area. A minute walk from Pension Chau chau we rode a shuttle bus bound for Escal Plaza. The breakfast is also good and healthy. There is a baseball ground beside and the kids play with the untouched and accumulated snow. There ski and snowboard rental fee is very low, also they have 1 day pass for lift/gondola for only 3,000 yen which normally cost 5,000 yen at Escal plaza.

    Authentic Japanese experience”

    Great accommodation, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Location is a bit far from the main and norther hills, however the shuttle buses are decent. If you are only skiing Goryu and 47 it is a great location. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance and delicious breakfast cooked by host at the lodge.

    I recommend this hotel!”

    It was a very comfortable stay and a delicious breakfast. The staff were friendly and they even gave us hot water on our way home for my toddler’s formula milk. There’s a big open space beside the hotel and the kids really enjoyed playing snow fight and made snowman. It was like an exclusive snow playground for them hahaha...
