Very Basic but Clean”

I've stayed in so many dingy cities in Asia, Hat Yai being just another dingy and gritty one, that finding this simple clean hotel was a nice surprise. The Red Planet chain seems to be a no frills brand, but reliable. Everything functioned properly - strong AC, ceiling fan, room safe, flat tv (few English channels, but Hat Yai is laid out for Malay and Chinese visitors), nice shower. All very simple, but that said, completely devoid of personality. With no carpets or decor of any type, the rooms and hallways tend to echo - you'd better hope for quiet neighbors. No free drinking water provided, but the front desk sells water for a reasonable price. Staff speak very good English. There is a tour desk in the lobby, from which you can book minibus/ferry to Pak Bara and Koh Lipe. Location is very good - easy walk to the city center. No restaurant on site, but there are numerous greasy Chinese restaurants in the vicinity. Perhaps some good ones too. Restaurants and carts charge anywhere from 30-80 baht for the exact same bowl of noodles, so if you are a non native, expect to pay more, the facts of life. The view out the window of Room 304 looks directly at the building just one meter away next door. But of course the rooms with a view would overlook the street and be noisy. Your choice. Bottom line, for an 18 hour stopover in Hat Yai, this clean simple hotel was just fine.

Excellent value for money ”

Excellent stay, booked a double room but changed last min to 2 single bed room, and hotel staff obliged, but unfortunately I think the system was not updated and I had to go down every day to inform them to reactivate the electricity as my room card could not activate it. Other than that, the stay was a perfectly enjoyable one, with very clean rooms and lifts that go up only when you tap the card, hence security was good. Location wise, it was about a 10 min walk to Lee gardens plaza and other malls nearby. The hotel provided a hard copy map of hat yai which was extremely useful if you want to walk around. For those that are afraid of rats I suggest that you take tuk tuks out and not walk on the streets as hat yai is full of huge rats at night. But of course there are no rats at the hotel itself. Do take note that the standard charge for tuk tuks seem to be 100 baht, even though many blogs claim that it's 20 baht each. This could be because there were only 2 of us and we had to pay 100 baht to book the whole tuk tuk even if it's just a short distance like travelling to lucky dim sum which is about 10 to 15 min away on foot. You may bargain and sometimes we were lucky enough to get 20 baht/pax for short distances, or 30 to 40 baht/pax for longer distances to places like central festival plaza. There is a free tuk tuk service from red planet to central festival plaza at 11.50am, 1.30pm, 3.50pm, 6.50pm and 7.50pm and back to red planet from central festival plaza at 11am,12 noon, 1pm, 4pm and 5pm. The free tuk tuk has shuttle service printed on it with the central festival plaza logo. Just wait outside red planet hotel before the stated timings. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends in future.

Comfort stay in a strategically located hotel”

Location is very good. Less than 10 minutes walking distance from railway station, shopping malls (e.g.: Robinson, ODEAN, Lee Gardens, Central) and restaurants (e.g.: Kan Eng Restaurant for reasonable price tasty Thai food). Front desk staff can understand English and can speak fluent English and they were very friendly. Prompt feedback through e-mail before our departure to Hat Yai to confirm room booking status and to inform our arrival time. We were able to check-in at around 12pm probably due to we informed them prior to arrival. Prompt check-ins process. Room decoration and design is simple but its clean, comfortable and spacious. Hair dryer is provided in room. Soundproof of the room is good although occasionally you may be able to hear people walking and talking around corridor. But overall it's very quiet at night as no bar, pub, karaoke, night club along the street. Only shampoo is provided as toiletries. It would be better if can provide more toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, bathroom shoes, etc. No complimentary mineral water is provided. No breakfast is provided but you can walk around or take tuk-tuk to any nearby food stall or restaurant. We stayed for 3D2N, on second day, we were unable to connect to internet through Wi-fi in our room but able to connect at lobby. Overall value for money. Will definitely come back if happen to visit Hat Yai city again.

A peaceful hotel for resting!”

Hat Yai is a small town with nothing much surrounding the town!! That is a only a street named (Lee garden) filled with massage palour, central shopping mall, food stall and cloth stall only!!! Hai yai is a boring town and is near to Malaysia. So people live there can communicate with Chinese! I guess Red Planet hotel is best in town comparing with those old old hotel surrounding the street! Hotel room is clean and equipped with a bed, TV and toilet for shower only... lucky nv trust those Malaysian feedback... they always wanted to pay less and get 6 star room with swimming pool and breakfast!!!!

Everything You Need”

Location is a few minutes walk from Hat Yai’s main Shopping district. Standard rooms are very big but sparsely furnished. Hotel is clean and staff are friendly. There’s a tour operator on the premises too - in the lobby. I very foolishly booked a ticket to Krabi, in a van, which I was told would take 4 hours. It took nearly 7. Numerous detours along the way to pick up and drop Thai nationals made it a very long tedious journey. And then we were dropped on the outskirts of town when we reached Krabi at (you guessed it) a taxi rank. I recommend you take the bus to your next destination from bus terminal 1 in Hat Yai; it’s marginally cheaper and a hell of a lot quicker, unless spending a day in a sweating hot van is your thing. Would stay at Red Planet again.

Budget Hotel in the heart of Hat Yai”

I have a pleasant stay in Red Planet Hotel, Hat Yai. The hotel is located at the heart of the city. Lee Garden, Central, Odeon are just a block away from the hotel. Parking could be an issue, as there are only around 10 parking space available. I had to park my car at the roadside for a night. Getting a Tuk Tuk is easy as well.

the biggest tune-rooms worldwide, great location”

if you have been staying at other tune-hotels you will be surprised how huge the rooms in hat yai are. the reason is, that this has been another hotel (called "new world") before, and is not a new purpose-built construction. the location is very strategic in downtown, a short stroll from the railway station and the lee garden plaza and central shopping malls. the travel-agent offices where the vip-buses for malaysia depart are as well just a five minutes walk away. bed comfortable, and if u book with agoda, the rate will include a package with towel, twelve hrs ac (even the room is not hot or sticky, i almost could have slept with only the large overhead-fan on), plus wifi and tv (only few channels and almost only thai though). the front-desk staff was nice, particularly the young lady who checked me in around 5 pm was really lovely, cheerful and cordial. i wished i could have had dinner with her ^^ overall, a pleasant experience. one thing though, while all rooms do at least have a window, those not facing the main road go towards a funnel. so in that case, having a window does not necessarily mean to have natural daylight. ask for a room towards the road if u don't feel comfortable without natural light (i would have asked if i had known b4). considering the included amenity-kit, the agoda rate was surprisingly much cheaper than at the actual tunehotel - website.

simple hotel but great stay”

It was my first time to hat yai and first time stay at this Tune hotel. I stayed at Tune hotel in bali before and I don't have much good impression of Tune hotel, as I feel it is small and everything you have to rent it from the reception. But this hotel in hat yai really give a surprise as the rooms are clean and big. I stayed at another nearby hotel for 3 nights and I thought wasn't as good as Tune Hotel. The only set back is that its rooms doesn't equipped with fridge, other than that, everything else is fine.

Staff was very friendly, room was clean and tidy! ”

It was very good! The room was very clean and big enough. The location is walking distance from Lee Garden Plaza. The staff was polite when you asking for some place's direction or others enquiries. Hotel with good security that you will need access card before you entered to the escalator. In addition, the wifi was strong and stable. Compared to other hotels I stayed before in Hat Yai, this is the best hotel that I stayed before. Will stayed at this hotel next time when I visit Hat Yai again.

Clean budget hotel”

This hotel located near to Hat Yai Train Station, about 400m distance and by walking is not more than 10 minutes. You can also walk to Lee Garden area which is about 600m away. The room is very spacious and clean. There's an Thai Odyssey traditional massage just next to this hotel. Besides, shuttle service to Central Festival shopping mall will drop by at Red Planet as well (Friday to Sunday). Check the schedule at the reception.

Good location”

Always my 1st choice when at Hat Yai. Been stayed at this hotel for many times, located at the central of Hat Yai, easy to get food & near to Odean Shoping mall. New item hotel had implemet, water dispenser (hot & cold) provided at lobby floor. Big room with basic facilities & amenities provided, safe box, aircond, LCD tv, towels & 3in1 shampoo.

A quality sleep in a clean, big room”

We booked at the Tune hotel for one night. Comming from Chiang Mai we flew to Hat Yai airport and took a private ride to the city for overnight stay at Tune and continuing our trip to Pak Bara next day and Koh Lipe. Staff spoke perfect english. Were very kind. Upon request they offered us an overnight laundry service. Bedding was clean and room in a good condition. No mold or broken pieces, stuff hanging around. It was a joy staying in a hotel which gives the rooms in the same condition as advertised. I would stay there again. I would also recommend this hotel to anyone. In fact it's international hotel. I'll definitely check with them next time I travel.

Worthwhile your money for a budget hotel”

the tune hotel in hat yai was great! i booked 2 rooms and as requested-rooms allocated are next to each other. rooms are very spacious and clean. despite not much furnitures but all basis needs are available such as hanger-grills to hang yr clothes. i was very impressed with the security they had installed at the lift lobby- 2 big cctv were used to capture all the passengers that took the lift. the only comment was-perhaps the hotel can furnish basic utensils like cups and hot water jar so that we can make some hot drinks as my mother need to take her medicine and not available at all. neverthless overstay is still a pleasant one.

Simple but good stay”

Originally Tune Hotel, now Red Planet, although the branding seems to stay. Which means, you are going to get a simple room at affordable price, no luxurious item/facilities like kettle, fridge etc. But at least, you don't have to pay extra for the aircon and towel (or already included in the fee) like Tune last time. The safety box provided was really big, I can put my laptop in, that's really helpful! The room is a little worn out, but still very clean and everything functional. The bed is very comfy, yes the pillows are too soft, but I have had a good night sleep. Location wise, it's pretty strategic and quite close to everything. I would stay here again, if I ever go back to Hat Yai, which is not very likely.

Extremely Value for money”

Was very surprised at the quality and cleanliness of this hotel, considering the price i paid for the room. Rooms were clean, shower was good, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Early check-in for additional 120BHT was very reasonable. Will definitely stay here again if I'm in Hat Yai. FYI, if you're looking for a good Thai massage parlour, Thai Odyssey right beside Tune Hotel is a must go. THey give very good massages there. :)

Welcome stay in Hat Yai”

Everything you need to base yourself for a few days in Hat Yai. The hotel is only a few roads from the railway station and near the shopping areas. Everyone is pleasant and helpful from the receptionists to the maids to the security guards. The only thing not explained is you need to use your room entrance card to work the lift from the ground floor. Nice size room and en-suite. Could do with a shelf unit, since you only have a rail and 4 hangers, and a towel rail in the bathroom. Otherwise - happy all round. (I had to rate dining for this feedback, but there is no dining at this hotel. If there was, I guess it'd not be disappointing.)

this hotel is probably the cleanest hotel in hat yai i suppose, mainly becos they are one of the newest build hotel. the room layout is very simple, no wardrobe, no fridge but it is very clean. i have friends with me this trip and was staying in different hotel previous trip, they commented this is so far the best in hatyai. price is cheap, room are spacious. i will definitely choose tune hotel again if i am going to hatyai again!

Worth every penny”

Return stay to Tune Hotel in Hat Yai. Received the same high standard of service from staffs and status of rooms. Housekeeping cleans the room and replaces towels and amenities daily. Definitely value for money and within walking distance to various parts of the City. It's the hotel of my choice if I go to Hat Yai again.

Best stay”

This hotel is simply one of the best hotel in Hat Yai, we were greeted by polite and friendly reception staff, and enjoyed each moment here as travellers. They do not provide water bottles, which was a let down but there was a water dispenser at corridor. It’s a walking distance hotel to many places such as the night market, lee garden plaza and many street food market. Overall, we had a pleasant stay at this hotel and would come back again. Pro tip: if you want to book a cab, use grab in Thailand and do not book cabs at this hotel reception since they overcharge you. And always book ahead in Agoda at least one month before your trip for special discounts.

if you are on a budget and needed a nice hotel, then this hotel suits you the best. i would say value for money because Red Planet Hat Yai it has all that will satisfy your stay. The staff is fantastic and can talk english very well her name is Air. she did assist me on which is the best place to eat and she is very nice.
