We arrived in the middle of the night in this hotel. The staff at the reception (as well as the other staff in the hotel) didn't speak a word of English, which made check-in a one hour process. During our stay the swimming pool was closed due to maintenance which was a big disappointment since you can't swim in Recife because of the sharks and we purposely chose a hotel with a swimming pool. They didn't offer us any 'extra' for this inconvenience. The room was very big, clean and nicely furnished. Breakfast isn't good and definitely isn't worth the money. I wouldn't stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay at the Cosmopolitan. For a budget hostel, it offered everything necessary as a base to visit Recife and Olinda. The staff was pleasant and helpful with maps and questions. The breakfast was a lovely spread with fresh squeezed tropical juices, homemade cakes,fruit, sandwiches and breads. The grounds are set in a small garden with pet rabbits, there is a central lounge with tv, the rooms have ac at night and the location is is very near the beautiful Boa Viagim beach. There was high speed internet, and tv in the lounge as well as a kitchen available to cook. My only complaint is that the lockers provided could be easily broken into with a screwdriver. Not that secure. All things considered, great value for the price.

We had a very good feeling arriving the hotel first outside, but also inside. Ther was a very smiling, singing cleaning person - very good. Very quick service in the restaurant. In the bar he ( young boy ) didn't pick up a new botle just give us a little bit more than it schould have been - a little thing but he have poosible got more sale if he "said just a moment I will bring a new bottle" and giv us what we have ordered. Evry time going / comming from or to the hotel they where very smiling and friendly. Aircon from lobby to elevator not so good.

My stay at the Atlante Plaza was very pleasant. I arrived late at night and was greeted by a courteous and kind staff. My check-in was processed quickly and I was escorted by the bell man to a room. When we arrived, I realized it was a smoking floor (they never asked my preference during check-in) but when I commented on the strong scent, the bell man was empowered to fix the situation quickly and moved me into a non-smoking floor. The hotel itself is very modest, but it is right across the street from the beach. I took advantage of the proximity to go for a jog along the sand in the morning and found that the hotel had a definite beach-y feel. This hotel is substantially akin in quality to other non-luxury hotels in beach towns where patrons are looking for a place to sleep but have no other expectations of comforts and pampering, aside from a great view and convenient access to the water.

After having experienced extremely overpriced pousadas in Porto de Galinhas and on Fernando de Noronha, we were very pleasantly surprised when we got to Olinda and checked in at the Pousada do Amparo. Immediately in the lobby it is clear that this is a quite unusual hotel, with a very cozy atmosphere. It is clear that the owners have tried to give it a unique character and it really stands out (in a positive way) from the standard 'templated' hotels that are just too common around the world. The room was very original, with a steep staircase from the door and bathroom (this was just in front of the door) to the actual bedroom part. A bit tough to bring up / down the suitcases, but apart from that it gave a very special touch to the room. Also the furnishing was tasteful yet personal and from the bedroom part there were balconies in two directions. One of them was not for going out on and it just faced the interior of the hotel (but as this was so nicely done, also this was a nice view), the other had a small area where one could in principle have a seat, and it had a nice view over Recife. In the evening it became clear that the hotel location is excellent for enjoying Olinda's night life, as the bar just opposite of the hotel was very busy with great music until around midnight. On the other hand, it did put some constraints on the sleeping times!

Location: not downtown which is good as the beaches are not very good there Food: we only had the breakfast which wasnt that bad, but it finishes at 10am, quite early for a hotel Drinks: the waiters never came to check on us, and the caipis are expensive. Rather get drinks from the beach Clean: this place was not clean. The toilets flush broke every day (!!!), there were stains on the bed sheets and towels Quiet: from the room, we could hear every people walking in the corridor, there was also a constant bipping noise Staff: there were all very nice

stayed here very briefly for one night but we were impressed by the rooms and the set up. bed was comfortable and room clean. we had one at the back overlooking the gardens and pool area which is a real bonus if you want some relaxation time here. the staff were helpful but didn't speak any english. they got us a 4am transfer to airport for 60r$ which was very reasonable. hotel is located on a nice street but as with most places in brazil after 10/11pm you need to get a taxi back to be safe. if you have any sort of mobility issues make sure you request a ground floor room, the staircases are tiny and circular to although they brought our bags us for us getting down was hard work! also when booking through be careful - despite booking a double room and selecting 2 people before we bought (which had no impact on the price) we received a confirmation for 1 person so were charged more on arrival than we had signed up to - this happened a couple of times in brazil and seems to be a website error.

I enjoyed my stay at this nice cute small property. The room was good enough, but a little too small. It was always clean, it looked recently renovated so it gave us a feeling of a new property. Nice tropical colors and right in front of my room, an area to hang a hammock that was provided to each room. Hammocks are a traditional Northeastern of Brazil way of taking a nap, I enjoyed it since I'm originally from there. Honestly I found the hotel to be overpriced. They don't offer much to charge so much money, but that's the current situation in Brazil. Don't eat at the beach either, it's ridiculous how much they charge for food on the beach! More expensive than Greece, Thailand and even Bali, places I know very well. Sadly, Brazil has become too expensive and we don't get half of what those countries mention do. One advice I have to give you is that in Porto de Galinhas you find lots and lots of mosquitoes. They are everywhere so keep your mosquito repellent on your legs and arms at all times, especially in the evening and night, when it seems they prefer to go out the most. The surrounding area was very quiet, we were literally at the end of Porto, toward Maracaipe Beach, which was great! Every morning we headed to the beach to see the local men push their jangadas to the ocean to fish. The street in front of the hotel leads you to that nice wavy beach, another plus is the coconut palm trees on the empty area in front of it, supposedly a huge property will be built there, which is said since all that quietness might one day disappear. Keep you eyes up in the trees on the search of the small monkey called "mandarin monkey" or "sagui". I saw quite a few and it was amazing to see them jumping and carrying little babies.
