Exceptional”
Booked a 4 bed japanese style room for 3 adults. It was a little tight in the room when the futons were laid out but they were so comfortable we all slept really well and it was great to have the opportunity to experience a more traditional room. The tea service was beautiful and we really liked the cakes. Breakfast trays were set out ready and although we didn't like everything on the tray there was plenty of the options we did like. Staff were very helpful and polite and we had lifts to the snow monkeys (go early as it gets busy) and to the station. Best of all are the onsen - they alternate so if you have two days as we did you get to go in both. The water is super hot and clear and the range of toiletries available made the whole experience feel really luxurious.

Very high quality, hotel staff provide bed making on tatami room. Foot hot spring spa outside of the property. Japanese breakfast. Open roof private onsen available for renting. Free shuttle services to and from station and the snow monkey resort. Can't recommends more.

Welcoming and Modern Ryokan”
The staff we're super friendly and spoke English. Highly recommend booking the private rooftop onsen! Since it wasn't as busy, we were allowed to use the public onsen as well even though we have tattoos. The dinner and breakfast were so delicious as well!

Great ryokan”
Location is abit out if u are not driving. Room is a little old, Hot bath a little old but I guess most ryokan I’ve been to are about this standard. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Breakfast has 2 type, Japanese is ok but English breakfast can be better

Excellent hotel with good services”
The view at the lobby is fantastic. Very helpful and good manner staff, especially Craig and Amy. Nearly most of the staff can speak fluent English. Free ride to the monkey park and Yudanaka train station are very convenient to the guest. Foods were good too. Highly recommended.

Nice experience”
Biyu no yado is a very traditional type of accommodation. The building is not the newest any more but overall the facilities are great. Stayed in the tatami rooms that were great and had everything you need (living room and bedroom is the same, beds are prepared in the evening (while you are at dinner) and stored in the morning (while you are at breakfasts). The food was great and authentic and there is few other options around the town to eat out. The onsen is class and bigger than the ones seen in other hotels. Price / Value is ok, but still quite expensive if you compare with other non-typical accommodations (most likely without onsen and the typical japanese food. Free transport from station and to snow monkey park is a nice add-on.

Interesting first ryokan experience ”
This is a great affordable starting point for an experience of a ryokan, however do note that the rooms are not very soundproof, so you might have a tough time if you are a light sleeper. Staff are extremely polite and helpful, really appreciate all the help they have given us.

Good”
We really like the staff at the ryokan. All of them are very friendly and helpful, even though some are not able to communicate with us in English. Many thanks to the following persons: 1. The housekeeping lady who waited patiently for us to leave the room in the afternoon before she had the chance for cleaning. 2. The front desk staff - going out his way to help us find a suitable cable for charging and coming to our room to return a ear phone we left at the dining area 3. The driver who had already dropped us at the train station but drove back to return our phone Thanks for making our stay at the ryokan an enjoyable one! Sylvie Singapore

SNOW MONKEYS”
We primarily went to stay at Ryokan Biyunoyado to see the snow monkeys & to enjoy the onsen. Meals were traditional Japanese breakfasts & dinners. The onsen was great & we almost didn't get to hike up see the snow monkeys due to heavy snowfall on the trail. We were pleasantly surprised on the morning we were to leave & found out that we were able to hike up to see the snow monkeys & still be able to catch our train as scheduled! The service from Ryokan Biyunoyado was excellent & we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Fantastic Stay”
We stayed 2 nights at this ryokan towards the end of December 2017. The trip to the ryokan from Ueno Station in Tokyo took around three hours total, involving both a shinkansen train to Nagano Station followed by a 2nd local train up to Yamanouchi. This was the only taxing part of the trip. Once we got there, the staff was exceptionally warm and helpful, the kaisaki breakfast and dinner were memorable (some travelers chose the western style breakfast, which I don't understand at all-- why travel thousands of miles to the mountains of Japan to order an omelette?) , the indoor hot springs were always clean and well maintained, and the day trip to see the snow monkeys was fantastic (but be warned, it involves a bit of a hike, and the trail is slippery during winter). The ryokan does everything it can to immerse the foreign traveler to a luxurious local hot spring culture, and I didn't have a single complaint.

A good view Ryokan with Japanese Dining Experience”
Actually I travel with my 2 elderly parents, we stay at this good modern ryokan, room is clean and spacious, has western bed , the onsen facility is good enough, they have outdoor onsen also but we cannot enjoy the view as they have partition. View from hotel lounge is very soothing, The most experience is you can enjoy a japanese style breakfast and dinner (with additional cost), we love it soooo much, very delicious and unique, the best food I think as I try 3 ryokan for this journey, all the staff is very attentive, my fave is Christine, she can speak english fluently and very helpful to elderly. A recommended place to stay when you visit Nagano and the place is only 11 minutes from the snow monkey forest area.

Great Keiseki Dinner”
We stayed in a Japenese style room to try it out and we had a great time. The Ryokan is about a 10 minute walk from the station. Although I suggest if you have luggage with you, it is an uphill walk so maybe consider a taxi. We arrived around 1pm and were told that the hotel shuttle leaving for the snow monkey mountain would be departing at 1:30pm if we wanted to join. Which we did and it ended up working out perfectly. Shuttle drops you off and picks you up again at 4pm, in time for check-in. Bathroom is adequate. The hotel is a bit older so the room I would say was not as modern. We wanted to stay here for the night because of the dinner/breakfast service. Which was amazing. Highly recommend. We rented the private onsen with real flowing hot spring water on the rooftop for a late night soak. It's about $16 for 40 minutes. Amazing after dinner. You don't get to see much because it is at night, but just being able to soak in an onsen under the dark sky up on the roof was amazing. The hotel shuttle will even drop you off at the station the next day when you leave.
