Best bang for buck”

We were on a road trip from Malaysia all the way to Chiang Rai. Suratthani (S Tara) was a stop by for us to put up a night. We booked this room purely based on reviews on Agoda and the room was very cheap! We werent expecting much for the price we paid but we were SURPRISED when we arrived. We reached the hotel at midnight (1am) and the staff actually came out and greet us and helped us with the luggages all the way to the room. Something even 4/5 star hotels might not do at times. Room was decently comfortable, clean and spacious. Air conditioning was a little noisy but i wouldnt complain about that for what its worth. Breakfast was also included in the room price and the variety was decent. All in all, i'd definitely recommend this hotel for budget travellers looking for a decent hotel (best value for money).

Excellent airport hotel”

I had a very comfortable nights stay here after lots of travelling. I was well looked after, all I really wanted to do was drink tea and sleep . I was given free milk and so could do this. Lovely large room, fabulous hot shower and a great buffet breakfast Thai style in the morning. The staff were very friendly and I thank them. Well done S Tara Grand!

good hotel but we arrived by train..watch out for Mafia taxis. watch out that there is another Tara hotel in the town this S Tara Grand is 20 min drive from Surat Thani centre, be sure your mini-bus taxi has the full address before you start to negotiate the price. Refuse to pay till you get there. Keep smiling!

It was okay. Room was nice. ”

Mixed feelings about this hotel. The room was very nice for Thailand -- first place I've stayed in with carpet. I paid extra for the deluxe room. Everything seemed to be very clean and modern. The hotel is located about halfway between the city center and the airport so if you're in transit between the 2, it's a good location. There is nothing near the hotel besides a hardware store, though, so prepare to eat at the hotel restaurant which isn't too expensive. Food was okay quality. It was 300 baht by pickup truck from the city center to this hotel. Be careful when telling them the hotel name -- our first driver dropped us off at the Grand Thara hotel instead which cost us an extra 150 baht because we did not realize the mistake in time. The hot water in the shower did not work and the wifi never worked the whole time we were there even though we called and told the front desk. The front desk staff spoke almost no English though seemed nice enough. The biggest qualm we had is that they charged us 650 baht for a taxi to the airport. Since I cannot speak Thai I did not have a means of booking my own taxi and I felt really ripped off. Surat Thani is a fairly cheap town and this taxi ride was well over twice as much as any taxi I've had during my month in Thailand.

You may make appointment them to pick you on time. Without making appointment, there are taxi green tag of the airport charged THB 400/car.

Overall a nice, new clean fresh feeling hotel,located close to central palaza surat thani, with one major drawback for me..the internet speed was terrible, anyone old enough to remember dial up internet? yes it was that slow , why pay for and open a nice new hotel ,and then not provide good internet, i mean in this day and age people expect it.sorry S Tara.

The hotel was an average four star hotel situated in the city center of suratthani. The breakfast was ok not that much selection. The room was ok in size but a bit old. The service was good in all departments. However, if planning to go to Koh samui, the hotel is about 75 KM away therefore be prepare for the timing. Apart from that, it is a good value for money hotel to stay in Suratthani.

We were in Surat Thani for 4 days for a family function. This hotel had the perfect location - not in the busy city, and close to great shopping at Central Plaza. The staff were fantastic, the room was wonderful, with a good selection of Thai and foreign TV programmes. My Thai partner thought that the food was exceptionally good; although there was not a wide range to select from for breakfast, I had no complaints. The hotel does not have a swimming pool, but it does have an underground car park!!! We shall be staying here again.

Great brand-new no-frills hotel near Central Mall”

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We were just passing through Surat Thani, and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. It is brand new and looks great. The low price makes it a great value. It's also very close to the brand new Central Plaza shopping mall. Breakfast was fine, considering how much we paid for the room. Highly recommended if you are looking for a good no-frills hotel.

You need a car to stay there, as the hotel is not located in the center of the city but I it clearly the best hotel I experienced in Suratthani.

The hotel is new and clean, the service was fine, the rooms are large and the food was reasonably priced and good. The location is far out of the city centre but on the way to the distant airport.

Great Hotel - Will recommend”

We had a difficulty finding this hotel, as there is a similar sounding hotel. Taxi drivers insisted that they are correct, despite telling them it is wrong and showing them the address. Most taxi drivers are unable to communicate in English hence the problem we faced. But once we found the place, it was a great relief. The hotel is big and spacious, and provided a comfortable stay - a value for money. Strong WiFi available on each floor, with good speeds. We dined at the hotel restaurant dinner and breakfast, we enjoyed our meals. My only negative comment would be the tv channels, they are mostly local programs in thai. But the good aspects of the hotel more than makes up for this.

Rooms were amazing! Couldn’t have asked for better. We were only there for one night but was close enough to walk to the mall and get food/shop. Staff were friendly. For the price i couldn’t have asked for better. And it was even better than some more expensive hotels i stayed in in Thailand

Like new hotel with super clean rooms. Breakfast is ok but opens at 6.30 am soo if you have a very earlly flight you might have a quick coffee. Airport at 20 min easy drive. Central festival at 5 min drive. A great deal

Was at S Tara for a night stay before flight back home from Koh Samui. Basic Hotel but was new, clean, and big rooms. Best point it is near to Central Plaza Shopping Mall.
