Relaxing Bungalow”

Great host, remote location, very affordable

There are four large bungalows and five small ones. The whole place is run by a guy. He's a really great guy. You can talk to him about anything from customer service to acupuncture to conspiracy theories about air pollution and genetic splicing. His English isn't the best, but he's certainly hospitable and offers food and coffee every morning. I don't recommend booking online though. There are over a dozen places to stay on Tonsai Beach, and most are not on Agoda. If you're not staying during the high-season, you can find rooms for as little as $5/night, including here at Sai-Ngam. It's the farthest resort from Tonsai Beach before you start walking to Railey, but it makes for a great experience. It's up a big hill so it's 10-15 minutes from the beach, depending on which way you're heading. Nonetheless, it's a great place! So, if you're not afraid of a few bumps in the night, this is definitely the place to stay, unplug, enjoy the wildlife, and save a few dollars in the process. Fan and electricity during generator hours (common practice) between 6pm and 1am, mosquito net, toilets and showers, decent beds, and sheets laundered on site.

Good stay”

Stayed in large room. No problems. Deep in the jungle. Last "resort" from Tonsai up the hill. Rustic, quiet, and romantic. Electricity and Wifi from 6pm to ?am. Strong wifi. 20min to Railay East and Phranang through jungle or 20min to Railay West through Tonsai and seaside jungle (better way).

rustic jungle escape”

it was in a beautiful forest area, a short walk to Tonsai beach which is lovely and not so tourist packed! it was relaxing and peaceful with nice walks in the area

We enjoyed being in the forest and in the area. It is a lovely area, next to Railay but a hike away which is a great hike. The staff were helpful and ensured we always had breakfast and were satisfied. There isn't hot water for showers which was fine as it was quite warm so a cool shower is refreshing. It is secluded and the only way to get there is by long tail boat from Railay or the short hike from Railay takes you directly to Sai Ngam. There are a selection of restaurants along the walk to the Tonsai beach and it is all very reasonably priced. You definitely need mosquito repellent as they are everywhere but we had cream and were fine. The sleeping conditions aren't the most comfortable but it was alright. Overall the area is definitely worth being in, and its awesome being so secluded from the busy tourist areas

Great value for money”

Nice staff, breakfast, location

Had a nice stay. Extended it for 2 more days. The rooms are really not that bad than other reviews claimed. We had the small bungalow. It was not too small, the bed was cosy, and we even had our own bathroom. Of course, it's just a jungle hut and therfore there are a lot of holes in the wall but there is a proper tin roof and we had fewer animals in our room than in a lot of others in Thailand. Moreover, they offer a big variety of a delicious breakfast. Try the Pancake!!! It's just a 10 minutes walk away from Tonsaibeach!!

chapest long stay”

The weather is good here, a good start for trekking, the price is so heavenly cheap.

I was impressed by the staffs here. The woman who runs this hotel is so kind and nice. I was attracted by the hotel's rate which allowed me to stay here for 3 nights without any pain for my wallet. I love the little lovely breakfast here. After torn by the sunshine, this resort can heal you with its cold weather as it is located on a hill not far from the beach. I was blessed by the songs of birds and wild animals in early morning.

Jungle hut/shack with hard bed and pillow”

We opted for Sai-gnam because it was the cheapest thing in Railay/tonsai we could find. We were there for a climbing course based out of Railay so this resort was a bit of a trek to and from our course (20-25min). Super mosquito-ey during certain times which is to be expected but also annoying. The water pressure was excellent and the bathroom was fine but no door. The biggest issue was the seriously hard bed and even harder pillows. We asked for different pillows which he obliged right away and was super friendly but the replacement pillows were the same. Overall it was fine for us just inconvenient location and super uncomfortable bed. Tough after a hard day's climbing! Oh and free coffee but had to boil the water yourself without instruction

Unfortunally i couldn't reach the place! Once in railay i had to walk through the sea and arrived in tonsai there weren't indications neither comfortable ways to follow with my backpapers on the shoulders! I recommend the host to give indications and why not pick up service. Fortunally close to the main road i found new clean and wellserved resort at the same price !

Very disappointing and far from everything”

Okay breakfast, good for backpackers

I booked this place thinking that the hotel will be located at the Railay beach. Turned out it's not. It is located at Tonsai Beach, that's like 5 mins boat ride or 1 hour hike if you wanna go to Railay. Also, the place is far from minimart and restaurant. So if you want to grab some munchies, you gotta walk really far. Moreover, the path to go back and forth is slippery, and dark, and unpleasant. In addition, the electricity is always off everyday from 3am til the next day at 6pm. So no electricity during the day, and at night while you rest. It is really inconvenient for me because I have to do school works on my holiday and it gets really hot at night (bcs the fan is off). But the owner is nice and he makes nice pancakes for breakfast. Definitely won't come back and not recommended though. There are other nicer hotels at Railay area for the same price with like proper room and electricity throughout.

It's an experience but not one of comfort.”

The staff are friendly, you are pretty much in the jungle which is a good experience and surrounded by nature.

The staff are friendly and welcoming and the location is quite amazing. The room was very small and although there was a mosquito net the mosquitoes are relentless. A plus is that there are amazing monkeys that live in the area which are worth having a look for. The bathroom is very, very basic and there is only electricity from 6pm till the early hours around 1am. Tonsai beach is fairly close down the path but Railay beach is a long walk unless you want to get the boat across from Tonsai beach. Overall, it's a fun experience but not one I'd repeat purely because of the lack of comfort and how far it is from the nice beaches.

Big hill”

Free breakfast, friendly staff, mosquito net.

There were the biggest spiders we have encountered on our four month backpacking trip lurking around our room. While this was 'part of the experience' it still made us scream. These were a small issue in comparison to the cardiac-straining hill that you had to climb in order to reach the so-called resort. For that reason alone I would not recommend this accommodation. There were many other places to stay for similar (and lower) prices that didn't try to kill you on the climb up! For something so basic it wasn't worth the effort.

As it is the last resort in the bay you have to walk up the hill to get there, but you are also far enough from the bars and the music located on the bottom, so you only have nature sounds to surround you and monkeys that wander at night:) staff was nice, breakfast was included and for one more night extent I got a discount. Wifi worked well in common area, not that much in the bungalow.

Jungle experience, beware of difficulties”

Staff, food, jungle

We had a lot of fun, just beware that here we r talking about huts, there are holes here and there between the bamboo walls etc, so you are continusly exposed to insects attack. There is electricity (wifi, electric light) only from 6pm to 12pm. There is no hot water. Facilities are basic. But if you like to explore the jungle this is the last house of the village, so you are really in the forest. The village is little so you access the bars and the beach easily. Just bring a torch in case u wanna go back after midnight. There are no candles so bring own light! Have a nice stay

But the area is so organic and the location is fantastic. Staff (person) was just so chill with an "everything is fine" attitude. We should all support this business!!! Come with an open mind and spare set of batteries. Spend your savings at the beach and on beer! Bravo!!!

Expect the low end”

Quiet, Quiet, Quiet

The bungalows are located at the top of a hill after a really, really long walk. So, if you are bringing all your suitcases up it is quite a long and tiring walk. The bungalow we had was on the low end...No hot water, ants and no AC. The owner was a dick about sharing the wifi password for some reason. Out of all the annoying things at this place the fact that he wouldn't share the password and was rude about it was the most surprising. We paid for two nights but left after one without even caring. There are several better, cleaner places in Ton sai. Other than the price I wouldn't recommend this place.

Beautiful place to stay”

The owner was lovely, his cooking skills were amazing and the wildlife surrounding was beautiful.

The owner was a lovely man who works very hard to keep his guests happy. His culinary skills were fantastic, so breakfast was a real treat every morning. If you're into wildlife, the sound of the jungle around you at night is incredible. Expect to share your bathroom with the frogs, be woken up by the gibbons in the middle of the night, early morning the bats tend to have quick naps hanging from your balcony roof. Massive bright blue beetles jam around during the day time, and some incredible moths at night. If you're not into all the creepys, stay sow where else. Overall, it was my favourite 5 days in the two months I've been in thaialnd. The location was so nice, and the lack of tourists made it feel really intimate. Some great bars and restaurants at the bottom of the hill, and all the locals were friendly. One bit of advice, it's situated at the top of the hill, so you're certainly feel much fitter by the end of your stay. 10/10.

One of the most affordable but in expense of a lack of quality”

This place is a group of shacks (not exagerating, literally) in the middle of the jungle about 25-30 minutes away walking (with all the luggage, later on just 15) from the main resort area. It is somehow romantic, being in a remote area, and the guy attending does his best, but being Railay an isolated location and with no road conexion (it is only accessible by boat due to the cliffs surrounding it) the prices rise so much even if you renounce to a many of the privileges you could get for a much cheaper price in the neoghbouring AoNang. This particular place doesnt have electricity during daytime (they swirch on a generator from 18 to 5 am), but stillif you like nature and are nuts about climbing it may be worth for you. At least if you read this decide on a basis of knoeledge. Also, the photos show a much cleaner place than it really is, there hasnt been much manteinance since!
