Excellent”

Stayed at Sand dunes a few times now, and it seems whenever I book 'mountain view' superior as opposed to 'garden view' superior, I always get a nicer room with a much more stunning view of the sea, bigger balcony, higher floor (7th & 8th), etc. Never get bored of Chao Lao beach or swimming in the sea there. Sanddunes has a nice infinity pool right by the beach. Small gym with limited amount of equipment, looking out over the beach. Plenty of options for a run along beach or road. 7-11 and mini big c not far (10-15 minute walk along beach). Breakfast best in chanthaburi from my experience. Cons: bedding and mattress could be more luxurious. Some people may prefer staying nearer the restaurants and small markets at the tosang resort end of the beach.

Lovely resort ”

Sand Dunes is a beautiful resort, with everything you need! The pool overlooks the sea and has adequate sun lounges with umbrellas! The pool side restaurant is a lovely place to watch the sunset!! We were given an upgrade to a deluxe room with a partial seaview, it was well appointed and had 1 of the softest beds we'd slept in during our 3 month trip touring in SEAsia! A special mention to Kloy on reception for your friendly manner and helpful information, nothing was too much trouble! Also need to mention the poolman come allrounder who was always smiling and friendly!! Unfortunately I don't know his name! Would definitely stay again if ever in Chao lao beach!

I am a local Chanthaburian born & bred until I was 14, I moved to live & studied in Bangkok & now I live in Australia, I came here to visit my parents (they now live in Bangkok & we still have a house in Muang Chanthaburi). I chose to stay at Chaolao because I never been here before, We came here as family & couple, I stayed with my husband in one room and my parents & brother in opposite room. We both stayed in Superior corner rooms. Room was very big, very clean and we got everything we need, there was even a tv for us to watch while we did no.2 as well! Staffs here were very friendly, polite and very helpful. Breakfast buffet was the best ai ever experienced, better than some 5-star hotel I ever stayed. Swimmimg pool was nice, yhe beach was good. So many good & great (seafood) restaurants nearby. The View from the Seaview Rooms are Worth your Money”

Sand Dunes Chao Lao is a fairly new hotel. The views are what we love..... And the design of the rooms (Seaview) tend to give u a great view of the sea. The room is smaller than we expected though and would be good for a Couple. Their King Bed was actually two super twins joined together thus a line in the center of the bed. Linen could be better, not as fresh as I like but acceptable. Cute touch with a TV in the toilet but probably unnecessary. Staff were trained well and did a decent job. From the reception, porters, pool staff and pool restaurant. Great job there! Ample Parking for the guests.

Value for a modern beach resort”

Relatively new modern beach front hotel. Very basic, clean and decently sized room since we are getting the cheapest room with breakfast. The online booking shows only room with 2 single beds but we requested 1 king bed and the hotel does provide 1 king bed. Don't really know why king bed is not listed as option. The breakfast is good with both Asian and Western offerings. Location wise, there are plenty of restaurants around the resort on the main road. Chaolao is not a big city more like a small resort town so there isn't much around the resort except lots of sea food restaurants.

Cool & Cozy!”

Sand Dunes is located right on the Chao Lao Beach in Chantaburi, Thailand. It has a very cozy design and also provide cool services throughout our stays. I and my friends did enjoy our time there and yes, this is one of the places we would recommend the others to check it out!

Lovely hotel in the middle of nowhere”

Beautiful hotel, lovely room and facilities, fantastic staff. But unless you have your own transport to, from and during, I wouldn’t recommend it. We took a tuk tuk from Chantaburi to get there, then on the second day rented a motorcycle at Zaab Bar up the road when it became clear we’d need transport. We booked a taxi through 7-11 on the way back. There is very little of interest walkable from the hotel except the hotel pool and the beach. All the restaurants, market stalls and bars are 30-45 minutes walk away. If you like to chill in the surrounds of a beautiful hotel, then this is perfect, you won’t find better in Chao Lao. But if you like to get out from time to time, choose a hotel further to the west in the main area.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night. Location seems to be good as Chao Lao beach has many other hotels, probably the most popular beach area in Chanthaburi. Room booked was the Super Rooms which had a queen sized bed and a single bed. Facilities were nice, the hotel has 2 pools and a beachfront. Dinner at the hotel in front of the beach served nice food and the breakfast had a very good selection. The complaints I have is the hot water in the shower is not consistent ( switches to cold every 2 minutes and back to scorching hot ) and the cable tv has not many channels and bad signal. Oh, another nice thing is there is a small tv in the bathroom. ^^

Brand new, Great location and Swimming pool with sea view”

Brand new hotel on Chao Lao beach. Good location with load of restaurants and tourist attractions nearby. Nice and clean room with sea view. And wide range of breakfast!!!

Great potential, but not there yet”

We had a nice stay but it could've been better. It's a modern styled hotel with a beautiful pool on the beach. The staff were very nice and there was usually at least one person around who understood some English. We were here at a non-peak time so the resort was not crowded, and I was the only foreigner I saw for our 3 days in the area. We just had a standard room which had a somewhat distant but nice view of the pool and beach from our balcony. There were some nicer rooms nearer to the beach and some had their own private pool. Our room had good space and a large bathroom and shower area. We were surprised there were no outlets at bedside so we couldn't charge your phones and use them as a clock at night. However, what was most bothersome was the temperature fluctuation in the shower. One moment it was cool and the next too hot to stand under the water! Neither of us could avoid this for both days and nights that we stayed. The pool area was just as nice as their website pictures, and I loved the bean bag chairs next to their recliners. We were disappointed that they only served drinks but no food around the pool, and the restaurant there was out of many food items. The Shore restaurant has a great location by the pool and beach but the staff seemed overwhelmed when it half full one night. The breakfast buffet at their other restaurant was a nice Asian/Western mix with an omelette station and nice service.

I'm so happy for staying at this place. It's located at Chaolao beach and so many facilities provided. The beach is very nice and clean. I will be back here next time for sure!

Short stay”

Really enjoyed our first trip to Chao Lao and to this hotel. The room was as advertised, clean and the facilities very good. All dealings with staff were professional and helpful. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

nice hotel connected to the beach”

The hotel is clean and new. The highlights for us are that the hotel is connected to the Chao Lao beach and the swimming pool also face to the beach. Beside the beach, you can easily see many hills surrounding the hotel which is nice. We've got upgraded corner room and the room is spacious. They had wide spread of buffet too.

Wonderful hotel”

Stayed here two nights and really enjoyed it. Sipping smoothies by the pool. Just a hop away from the white sand beach. The room was clean. Soft beds. Good pillows. The shower even had a door on to the balcony. The workers were very kind. The only downfall is there was not much around the hotel. So just concider in an all inclusive hotel. The restaurant was really good too.

Everything you would expect from a relatively new hotel. Good location next to the beach, large swimming pool, clean rooms, good buffet spread, attentive staff and overall new facilities. The training/workout room was a bit small but acceptable. Other than that, I really don't have any complaints except that rooms were totally full and our view was on the less pretty side (next to neighbors - so book early! Wasn't really a big deal though in all honesty) ^_^

Nice hotel, clueless staff, restaurant an absolute joke. ”

Stayed at this resort a couple of times and have eaten at the restaurant 5 times, only one of which was ok. The waitstaff have no idea what they are doing and I wonder if the cooks are just as incompetent. A very simple issue - the room phone didn't work - turned into a huge misunderstanding and at least 30 minutes of wasted time (by the way, I speak Thai and they still can't solve the problem). I had to come down to the desk twice just to order some room service. I wouldn't stay here again. There are so many resorts in Chao Lao. Just a shame because it really is a nice hotel. Apart from some of the decorations in the room look as if a child set about it with crayons.

Modern Hotel ”

We stayed here in late November after booking a last minute deal, and the price was very reasonable. Our room was clean and spacious with a decent sized balcony. The staff were friendly, especially those in the poolside restaurant. This hotel is a good choice for a relaxing break in Chao Lao.
