Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"We stayed in a Japanese-Modern twin room, which included a cute hot tub on the balcony (really only suits one person) and a tatami area with beanbags and a coffee table. All guests are encouraged to wear a yukuta (supplied by hotel in various sizes) throughout the hotel, which we found to be quite fun. Pros: - Very modern building - Ample parking - Private tub on balcony if you’ve had enough of public nudity :) - 2 minute walk to Hakone cable car and private ship cruise terminal - Great indoor and outdoor onsen and sauna (male and female zones rotate once daily) - Foot spa on lobby level is great for easing sore travelers feet - The food is buffet-style, which we found to be quite good. Lots of Japanese options from seafood miso soup, cold soba, fish, pork and many side dishes. Hakone doesn’t have much in the way of food outlets, so we thought it was convenient - great pillows, and very firm beds (a personal choice, obviously) Cons: - minimal space to store luggage "

Hakone Kowakien TEN-YU
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"Hakone Kowakien Tenyu met my expectation in every way. We are a family of 4 and have booked 2 rooms for our stay. Our flight to Tokyo was delayed by 2 days due to Typhoon so we didn't have time to enjoy Hakone before our hotel checkin. We had a day tour in Tokyo instead and was dropped off to the hotel by our driver at 7:00pm. Due to our change in plan, we had to cancel our spa reservation at this hotel. With our reservation package, each lady/girl received a very pretty yukata kimono to wear during our stay and to bring home. We dressed and had an excellent multi course Kaiseki meal at their restaurant. Staff were attentive and provided excellent service. My daughter is allergic to fish and they designed a totally different menu for her to enjoy. After dinner, my daughters enjoyed the private spring soak in their room while I tried the public bath. It was a great experience. The whole place is zen and tranquil. The outdoor bath is an infinity pool with an excellent view. The next morning, we woke up early and enjoyed their beautiful scenery and private garden. We took lots of beautiful photos in our kimonos. Later we tried the other outdoor public bath which showcased a natural waterfall with beautiful rocks surrounding the area. Our skin and hair felt so smooth and glowing after the bath. Their multicourse breakfast in Japanese and Western styles were both excellent. You can tell that they put an effort in ensuring guests have a good experience here. Reception staff helped us arranged a taxi transfer to the train station. Everything went well. Their gift shop carries lots of local and private brand products which are all reasonably priced. I bought all my Hakone souvenirs from here. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Hakone. I feel refreshed after the night. Next time I will try their spa service. "

"Tiring walk up steep slopes if attempting from Gora station. Best to take bus to 3rd stop and walk horizontally across flat road to hotel. Every stop goes up a steep slope! Hotel has free coffee and drinks at lobby. Free message chairs at level 2. Our rooms come with a 45 mins private onsen each. But do wash up t the common bath first as its only onsen inside the room. MUST opt for the dinner! It's super worth it with many courses and taste great. Our 2 sets of adults can feed our 2 young kids too. Also can do extra order of their zuwaigani (snow crab) for 30k yen. It's a whole crab and great to share it's sweet meat. And hotel have free shuttle to Gora station only, and last timing is about 12pm, so do check with reception to book. "

Laforet Club Hakone Gora Yunosumika
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"This hotel will pick you up from the Gora station which saves any struggle with bags. We had a Japanese/Western style room which was large, modern and very clean. The hotel is close to the cable car which allows travel and it is easy to walk to the Hakone Open Air Museum. To top our stay off when we requested a taxi to get back to the station the hotel offered to take us for free. Great way to stay at Hakone, would stay again "

The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"We never give reviews for hotels which we stay at. However, I thought I would do justice to The Prince Hakone Hotel by writing a short review on it. We arrived at the hotel on one misty night, and sighted the hotel from afar. It looked magical, sitting in all that mist. Upon checking in, we went to the outdoor onsen, which was simply rejuvenating. Not to mention the sealy mattress which we provided in the room. It felt like resting on a cloud. We awoke next morning, feeling simply recharged. I would definitely visit The Prince Hakone again!"

Hakone Onsen Sanso Nakamura
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"We had a wonderful one night stay at the Nakamura ryokan. This is a traditional, small family owned establishment set in the lush Hakone forest. We had the dinner/breakfast package, which I would definitely recommend as it was delicious and excellent value. The owners were very welcoming, and speak some English. The two onsens were very nice, and the larger one has beautiful views through the bamboo. The tatami rooms are large (ours had a separate dressing room and small seating area), and the shared toilets and sink were just outside the room. The hotel is only a 5-10 min walk from the nearest bus stop, although (like much of Hakone) up a very steep hill. Alternatively, a taxi from Gora train station is ~1800 yen. Hakoneyumoto station also has a luggage delivery service (800 yen) - leave your bag before midday and head out sightseeing, and your bag will be at your hotel by mid-afternoon. "

Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"Stayed 3D2N at Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall experience we had during our stay and would highly recommend anyone to stay there. The hotel in itself is very clean and modern. The room is spacious and the private bath is such a great experience. The gym and the mixed gender onsen is also really well done and will ensure an extremely relaxed time. In-room dining was acceptable but nothing special. This was probably the most disappointing part of the stay. On the other hand the breakfast was really great and worth the slightly expensive price tag. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Overall rating: 5/5 "

Yutorelo Annex
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"Pros: super near the Naka-Gora station, just a bit of an uphill walk. Large space, with clean and large shower area and separate toilet. Has a fun Dining area and kitchen. It accommodated our group of 6 perfectly. The onsen was really clean with a nice outdoor view. The front desk girl was really helpful and could speak english. Cons: No restaurants nearby. be sure to eat early as Hakone is such a sleepy area. the train line near the hotel closes at 7pm. No other way to get to the hotel except by that train or by taxi. The nearest store to buy food from is really tiring to get to because the road is on an incline. "

Hakonenomori Okada Hotel
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"Staff was very kind and helpful. The room was fairly clean too. There was a large onsen there, to my favour. However, we had to take a bus to the Hakone hotel, then a bus from there to our destination. In other words, we have no access to a direct bus from the hotel. In a nutshell, I think everything was very worth the trip and I would definitely wish to go there again. "
