Paiviengfah Resort

"Our third stay! We need a stopover when driving up to Mae Hong Son, and eventually found this wonderful hotel. Good and safe car parking area. We book the upstairs room, and have always been in C-2. Stunning views in all directions. Far enough out of town to be out of the hustle and bustle, close enough for dining there. Hotel also does nice food for a reasonable price. They also offer a free, on demand shuttle in a comfy vehicle. Visit reception to activate the shuttle, and phone from town to be picked up. Pool is not warm and very little shaded area by the pool, but the upstairs rooms have a large veranda with sofa and chairs. Pai Viengfah is a very relaxing and comfortable place and we are already looking forward to returning next year."

Changpai Hill

"Changpai Hill was a great place for us to stay. We loved it so much, we ended up extending two more nights than originally planned. Although outside of the actual town of Pai, the location is still great. You get to be away from the loud backpackers roaming the streets but can also walk into town if you want to join them. This place is up on a hill, and if you stay in the room with a terrace and have a motorbike, be prepared for some daunting uphill and downhill drives. Breakfast provided on a terrace overlooking the hills of Pai is hard to beat, and was easily one of our best stays in all of our hotel experiences throughout Thailand and the rest of SE Asia."

"BEST RESORT\RETREAT.Has awesome bungalows for single or family.Has washing machine and kitchen. The atmosphere is awesome. The only thing is that is a little retreated from town so you need a Bike or a car but other than the view and the resort itself is amazing. "

Mae Yen House

"It's quiet and far enough (but still walking distance) from main city center. One of the best deals I got for the price I paid! Wide wooden bungalow with AC, TV, and a fridge! The owner is very nice. If you want peace, privacy and quiet, that's the place. Plus, the best restaurant in Pai is just next door ;)"

Pai Klang Na Cottage

"Stayed here for one night during a motorbike trip around Chiang Mai area, and we were here for New Years Eve. This was the only place we booked in advance on the trip, as we planned to be in Pai for New Year and thought it would be busy. The resort was a little hard to find as it is on the edge of town, but we got there eventually. Being on the edge of town it is sort of set in some rice fields. It wasn't rice growing season when we were there but I can imagine that it would be very pretty when the rice is growing. There was some baby buffoloes around though which my girlfriend loved! The downside of being on the edge of town is that it's a little far to walk (though I guess we did end up walking home later that night), but the owners we really helping in giving us a ride into town earlier in the evening. The owners were very friendly, the breakfast was basic but very tasty! And the cottages very clean and quiet. It was a nie place to relax for a night, very peaceful!"

Prilpai Guesthouse

"This was the best place we stayed on our whole trip to Thailand and Cambodia. The host, Ice, is the nicest person and was the best part of our trip to Pai. We booked the wooden bungalow but after arriving and realizing we preferred the bamboo bungalow, he allowed us to switch immediately. Each day, our room was cleaned by the wonderful staff and our waters were replaced. The bungalow was large and clean and the semi-outdoor bathroom matched the nature-like atmosphere perfectly. The breakfast was basic but tasty and included toast, eggs any style, coffee, tea and fresh fruit. There is a "chilling" are near the kitchen which is really pleasant. Ice keeps a selection of books for guests to read and keeps calming music playing most of the day. It is about 2km away from the center (30 minute walk) but he provides free bikes with locks which we benefited from many times during our stay. We had many great conversations with Ice during our stay and he was truly an amazing host. Highlight of our trip!"

Baan Kati Sod

"this was a great place to stay in pai. the location is a bit far out of town, maybe 1.5k. however the walk wasnt too bad and you get a nice view of the mountains along the way. however i would advise getting a scooter anyways, all of the sights around pai are 5-20k from town. dont worry if driving the scooters in make you nervous, the streets around pai are quiet and there arent too many steep curves like you'll see in the minibus on the road from chiang mai to pai. if you get a scooter go very very early in the morning, when the aya rental service opens. the scooters are a hot commodity and they will all be rented in only a few short hours. most of the tourists couldnt get a bike and complained, and we were there when pai was relatively less busy than usual. so get a scooter and go to the rental place early! highly advised! back to the hostel...the bungalow is just down the street from a wat on top of the hill, which was a great place to watch the sun rise/set. its just a short climb to the top. we stayed in a bungalow which was fun and the bed was comfortable with plenty of warm bedding for the cold (by thai standards) nights of pai, and a mosquito net (which we found wasnt all too necessary as the mosquitoes werent any worse than chiang mai, but it was a nice to have). ban kati sod has a lot of nice features that i enjoyed a lot. for starters they will do your laundry for 20 baht per kilo which is a lot cheaper than anywhere else i found (air dried and not ironed). the food is cheap, although i never got a chance to try any. about 30-35 baht. coffee in the morning is free and they offer breakfast items on their menu. beer is also cheap, a large leo (my favorite) was only 40 baht. super cheap! the grounds has a nice bamboo hut in the center complete with speakers playing soft lounge music and 2 hammocks in the shade which were heaven during the hot middle of the day. the host is very nice. overall a great place to stay and would be back"
