Sydney quality and value stop over”

My usual hotel was fully booked so i was reccommended the y hotel - it was excellent. Clean comfortable rooms, friendly staff, a good location near to the redfern station. Only a short walk to chinatown and all the delights of dixon street. Scruffy murphys pub which has the best value entertainment and meals 7 days per week and close to darling harbour with all its fun and beautiful sights and good deal pubs. A great walk down george street to the rocks and circular quay for more live free music in almost every pub plus a huge variety of restaurants then it is a pleasant stroll or bus ride back to the y hotel to crash. A big free continental breakfast in the morning. Great place to stay - can hardly wait to go back and do it all again.

Song Hotel Redfern has a convenient location and good enough facilities. Nice people and good room service. Small room and the bathroom door doesn't close well, but I stayed alone, so not a problem.

I enjoyed my stay at Y Hotel City South. Walking distance to most places, i.e. 10 min walking to my favorit places - China Town and Glebe. 2-3 train station to Sydney Habour and Opera House. The train station is called Redfern (look up you will see how close. The staff are very nice and helpful. VERY CLEAN! Comfortable room and bed. A bit noisy due to train station close by.

cheap, clean and convenient”

Our ensuite family room was well equipped with beverage making facilties, hair.dryer and iron. Towels are clean and appeared new. Breakfast of good cereals/muesli and toasts was more than enough for my hungry teenagers. Location was great! Less than 500 m downhill from Redfern train station. There was a convenient store a few metres down the road and a halal Malaysian cafe too. Highly recommend this hotel.

Affordable stay near city center”

The hotel is a ten minute walk to the Redfern train station and a twenty minute walk to the Central train station and Central railway island where the public buses depart from. As such, the location is good for access to public transport purposes. The location is also close enough to the Sydney city center. Granted, the bedroom and bathroom are small in size, but this is a budget hotel and given the location very near the city center, the price is good value. The neighbourhood the hotel is in is safe enough. The hotel was sufficiently clean, hot water supply was fine and with reasonable amenities. At night, the front door entrance of the hotel needs to be opened with your hotel room key card so this is an added safety measure. The breakfast was simple - toast, juice and cereals, but this was adequate considering the price.

Great budget option”

Good budget accommodation close to Redfern train station. No frills but everything you need for a comfortable stay and a simple but hearty breakfast is included. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Good choice for a Sydney stay.

Small room but location and cosy”

i have rent a car from airport so I need car park spot. They have undercover car park with $10 extra I remember. Room was bit small but it was good location to get Redfern train station and also 5 min walk to Central station. Just small room other then that pretty good.

Good budget hotel”

I found the hotel to be conveniently located, it is within walking distance to both Redfern station (7 mins walk) and Central station (12-15 mins walk). The hotel is right next to a busy road and the railway tracks, which can be very noisy depending on the side your room faces. The room we stayed in faces the road which is less noisy but we had to refrain from opening the windows as the air quality outside was absolutely appalling due to the passing traffic, as a result the room was a bit stiff even after having the aircon on for some time. Room was clean and neatly put, had almost all the basics needed (mini-fridge, kettle, hairdryer, TV, aircon, soap, lotion and shampoo, but no toothbrush/toothpaste, slippers or conditioner). You do get what you pay for, so don't expect a lot of space. Continental breakfast (cereal, toast and juices) provided as described but no other in-house dining options available throughout the day except for microwave meals that can be purchased from the reception. Not much dining option available in the area either, so best to grab a few bites before you arrive. Friendliness of staff varies but no major issue. All in all, this hotel is a good choice if you are on a budget.

Comfortable Room and Good Facilities”

The room is comfortable and clean although not big. It is well equipped with air conditioner/heater, iron, hair dryer, and coffee/tea maker. The hotel provides laundry facilities, microwave and hot water that could be useful for a long stay guests. It also has a parking garage. The location is quite good as it is close to Redfern Station, Central Station, and Central Park, which make it easier to travel and find food. As it near railways, you might faintly hear the trains but overall it is mostly quiet.

Basic and meet my expectations”

i got a single room and room size is adequate for me. all basic necessities are provided ( toiletries, towels, kettle/coffee/tea bags, hair dryer ) which is really nice. housekeeping service is not consistent at times but it is bearable. breakfast included with choices of cereals, bread/toaster, apple/orange juice, coffee/tea maker is also a bonus as meals are expensive outside. the front desk are mostly helpful with questions. location wise, it is close to redfern stn which is quite convenient to take short train ride to central or other city circle stns; day time shortcut to redfern is within 5 mins walk while at night taking longer walk by the main road is abt 10-15 mins walk. can hear train noise at night but it is ok for me.

one stop from Central”

one of the cheapest and within our budget. has everything for a comfortable stay, we could walk to Central instead of taking the train from Redfern Station. The noise from the railway lines next to it does not affect us as it is minimal, good thing is they have double layered glass window that reduce the noise.

Great budget hotel”

I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was small but had everything I needed and was clean and comfortable. The location was good being an easy walk to Redfern station and the staff friendly and helpful. Simple breakfast of toast, spreads and cereal included in room cost and more than adequate for my needs. I'll be staying here again soon.

one stop away from Central. bus or train”

it was good but its abit tiring to walk back from Redfern station to hotel after a day of walking in city. the breakfast was simple but i usually had breakfast outside. the staffs were friendly. this hotel is safe and clean.

Cute Little Room with Complete Amenities”

All good since we were there for a night (late check-in) after touched down from the airport before our journey up north. For the price we paid, it's worth a penny since not much hotel can offer the ensuite room with breakfast as mostly they are bathroom sharing accommodations around the city + without breakfast. Even though the room is quite small but it has everything a hotel room would had eg. wardrobe with cloth hangers, iron & board, tea & coffee making facilities, hot & cold shower with complete toiletries; bath towels, hand towels and bathmat. We particularly like the telephone cum radio and alarm clock at our bedside. They worked like wonder! Not just that, we had great basic toast, butter & jam (assorted), cereals (assorted), tea, coffee, milk & juices (orange & apple when we were there). Finally, we had booked again for another 3 nights before leaving Sydney to Kuala Lumpur since it is just 30 minutes away from the airport!

Excellent service”

We stayed over the Christmas and New Year (9 nights). Location is close to Redfern station, so very convenient. Rooms are soundproof, so less disturbance from train noise. Has parking (prebooking needed). Breakfast is good (cereals, and bread). Staff is excellent, especially Chris, he helped us a lot.

Perfect for the price and location”

We've stayed in a few places in Sydney with dyer standards and extortionate prices. This place is a great price with very high standards and in a great location. Right next to the park and a 15 minute walk from the city and Surry Hills, surrounded by good transport links. Rooms are a little small, but perfect, with a fridge, good TV, desk, cute bathroom. Just perfect. Would highly recommend this place and it was so good, we came back! Only thing I would say it there should be FREE WIFI in the public areas and/or much cheaper internet options available.

Great location”

Accessible to city centre via Regent Street and short walk from Redfern Station. Comfortable room with ensuite bathroom - both small and really only for sleeping after days outing. Close to railway line and can be noisy, although trains were not running all night and not kept awake. Breakfast plentiful for a good start to the day. Will book again on return visit, great value for money.

Y Hotel City South Stay”

Hotel and its facility are clean for usage. Despite its distant from the busy CBD area (~10-15min walk), it is near to Redfern train station which connects to Central station(5min walk; need to use another route if returning at night as it's rather unsafe). Room is rather small but sufficient for 2 to have a comfortable stay. My partner loves the fact that it has washing/drying facility (that are clean/in good working condition) as we stayed for 5days, allowing us to move on with our trip with fresh clothing.

Small rooms but clean and comfortable”

We stayed here for one night in December 2011. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the central train station in Sydney, and about a 15 minute drive to the airport (taxi to the airport was cheaper than two single train tickets). I wouldn't have wanted to walk to the hotel on my own at night, but a taxi from the station wouldn't cost much. We arrived at about 8pm and had to wait a while for somebody on reception to hear us ring the bell, and let us in, but once they had check in was quick and easy. Our room was small, but confortable. Tea and coffee facilities were provided, the TV and aircon worked well, and the bathroom was clean and modern. A buffet breakfast is provided downstairs, and there was a good selection to choose from (cereals, toast, fruit, etc). The only downside was we were very close to a train line and could hear trains passing regularly, we slept through it, but it might concern some people. The hotel has a luggage storage room if you want to collect bags after you have checked out.

Neagtive: Bugs om bed, dust on desk and remotes, broken bathroom door, noisy fridge and air-con, noisy children and women around, unsafe street on the way back from redfern station at night, no toothbrush and shower gel... Positive: Simple breakfast, resonable price for solo traveller stay in single room with private bathroom in city central, helpful staffs
