Good location near beach”

we were very impressed with the location, service, gardens, size of the room and the pool at the soontreeya lanta. it is a small hotel complex of 6 duplex bungalows about 75 metres from the south end of long beach or prae ae beach. the staff cleaned the room daily and saw to it that the linens were changed frequently and the towels brought to the room later in the day. breakfast was the usual eggs, fruit, juice and toast and the hosts were not afraid to make you another cup of coffee which wasn't fresh brewed as they used instant. there is an adjacent property that has a restaurant called the marina resort and they had a great little thai restaurant on the beach that was a short walf, 75 metres or less from the best feature of the hotel, the pool. yes in our stay there we seldom saw anyone at the infinity pool that had a partial ocean view so we enjoyed it immensley as the tide was out on the beach and there was enough rocks that swimming was a little iffy at times. one just has to walk about 150 metres north and you wind up on the great beach with several kilometres of sand and few people as we were on long beach in low and high season and it was very wide open with few people on the beach.

I spent a couple of days at Soontreeya Lanta in January while visiting a friend that lives on the island. The price was cheap, so after looking around online, I chose this one by random, since they all looked like they would be good. For the price, the rooms are much better than expected, clean and with all the amenities you'd want and expect when living at a western hotel. It's located a little bit in the middle from the main road and the beach. This makes the area extremely quiet and relaxed. The resort has a swinging pool, which I didn't ry out, instead I took the small walk down to the beach, and followed the beach for 200 meters north to the southern part of long beach. The hike there is pretty stone filled, so bring some sandals, but it's worth it. Main reason for not using their pool was that there's no "sun chairs" to lay on, which makes the whole swimming pool experience suck. Their breakfast is your typical eggs/bacon/sausage and toast with tea or coffee. The british people will love this (yes, hello stereotype!). I loved it, since it gave me a fast and good start to every day. The staff tho, oh my. The kindest and most welcoming people I've ever met. I know most thai people are very kind, but somehow it felt like the staff here went out of their way to help you, and checked up afterwards to see if everything went as I wanted. English was so so, but they still engaged in conversations and always with a smile. Only minus was that I didn't know the procedure on how to get a new towel, but a short trip to the "lobby" sorted it all out. Just so you know, toss the towel on the small bushes outside the room, and the next day, you automagically get a new one when they clean the room. Around the corner you have Reggae Bar, which is super relaxed place to just hang out and smoke some Hookah, have a beer. A few meters (100m'ish) down the small dirt road, you have Korner Bar, which is the place to be on Saturdays.

Amazing staff, fabulous location”

Our first experience was with Connor and his wife, the owners, and they were a wealth of information, and extremely lovely. The rooms were nice, the pool gorgeous, but most of all, the location on Long Beach was perfect, and surrounded by great bars and restaurants. I unfortunately got sick whilst in Koh Lanta, and Connor, the owner, drove me to the local clinic and pharmacy, and looked after me amazingly. We loved our stay at Soontreeya.

What we loved ? Beautiful pool, amazing for a night swim. Localization, nice and quiet, only 2 min walk to the beach where sunsets can be seen. Scooters, you can rent them out directly from the hotel . Breakfast, tasty food with amazing coffee. Travel Advice, stuff can help you book any tours and give you great advice, price wise as well as time wise. Rooms, big, clean and smelling of lemongrass with nice balcony, warm water, ac. Last but not least The Stuff!Everyone working there is super friendly, helpful and hospitable. It felt like a family stay. There was only one thing I would change - the length of our stay. Was definitely too short. Koh Lanta as well as this hotel are relaxing, quiet and beautiful. Loved every day in the hotel and on the island.

Exceptional”

Great location, one minute from the beach and main road. Very kind and friendly hosts who were super helpful with booking buses and activities. The rooms are super clean, really comfortable beds, great bathrooks and showers. the coffee/tea, cold water bottles and toiletries were a nice plus as well. They have a book exchange and snorkel gear past guests have left you can use for free. Close to restaurants, shops and 7/11. They also rent motorbikes for a typical price on the island. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a nice, clean and beautiful space in a prime location! Enjoy Koh Lanta!

Small resort with beautiful rooms and pool”

soontreeya lanta is a gem of a resort. very friendly staff, great spacious rooms, beautiful pool. we had a wonderful stay there and would definitely go back. it's really quiet, but the beach and restaurants are just a 1-minute walk.

Relaxed atmosphere”

Stayed 5 nights. Soontreeya has only 12rooms. Every 2 rooms form a stone bungalow but have their own terrace in front with 2chiars and a table and a tap to clean your feet. Evereything is renovated in 2013 so it looks all new and fresh. Big room with lost of sockets, big bathroom and big and nice bed. Big swimmingpool with sunbeds, despite the resorts was during our stay fully booked it was never crowded in the restaurant or pool, so very relaxing. The breakfast is very nice because you could just order what you wan't (don't like egg every morning, so they had lovely slices of bread with Nutella and Peanutbutter instead for us :-) also tried the cocktails and they were delicious. Note: you can see the sea from the resort but its not seefront, the beach is not nice anyway because lots of trash and rocks if you want to go lay on the beach you probably want to rent a motorbike and drive to the nicer beaches. The swimmingpool makes it no big deal. Must stay the owners Irish-Thai couple are very thoughtful and helped us wonderfull in arranging a private fishing/snorkeltrip, rent a motorbike and ferrytickets to Ko Phi Phi

Wonderful staff, beautiful hotel”

We loved this hotel and would definitely stay again. It was our third time in koh lanta. The owners were so great and had lots of good recommendations for us. You can tell they pride themselves in their hotel and it is very well maintained. Great massages and food near by, and the restaurant was wonderful there. Can't beat the pool area either. Beach is close but pretty rocky but and easy walk down the beach for great swimming.

It was a good experience staying at Soontreeya. Conner, Sa and staffs provided us a very good care and service althought it was a blackdown in Lanta for an hour! The room was clean and tidy. The pool was great for relaxing. Breakfast was platter not buffet line but it was okay. After all it was a good experience at Soontreeya.

Very comfortable accommodation, highly recommend”

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. So much so we extended our stay by a few nights. The rooms/huts are so nice. Modern, clean and very comfortable. The beds are very soft and so snuggly! The huts overlook a lovely green lawn area and there is a very clean pool (probably the best we’ve been in whilst travelling SE Asia) with sun loungers. Location is excellent, at the bottom of Long Beach with only a 1 minute walk onto the beach. Staff are very friendly. They also rent scooters (250 baht p/d) and bicycles (150 baht p/d) which is great. Overall we’d definitely recommend staying here. The reason I put 4 rather than 5 stars though was a few things that could be improved on: - The biggest problem we had was with the laundry. It came back smelling SO bad. We had volunteered at the Lanta Animal Welfare organisation so our clothes smelt a little like dogs and cats, but when we got them back from the laundry service, they smelt much worse and a cheesy sort of smell too. This had rubbed off onto all the clothes we’d submitted (ones we hadn’t worn to LAW) and when we put them with the rest of our clothes, they all began to smell too. We would have spoken to the hotel directly about this at the time but when we realised the situation we were leaving so didn’t get the chance to let them rectify the situation. It seemed that they didn’t use enough soap at all. We’ve been travelling through SE Asia for 5 months and used countless laundry services and never had a problem like this before. - They didn’t clean our room at all in the week we were staying there, even though we put on the “please clean our room sign”. Every day cleaners came in and made our beds but that was about all. When I asked for new towels they said I must go to reception to ask. - The dispensers of shower gel and shampoo they provide in the bathroom we’re constantly almost empty - they didn’t top them up. On the last day we had nothing. The liquid soap provided by the sink was about a quarter full a

Perfect break”

Third leg of out travels in Thailand. Needed a pool after to a moped accident as sea too hard to navigate with a foot injury. Couldn’t believe the price for this garden resort. No idea why more places don’t slash their prices during green season. The room was great, very large to accommodate 3 of us, air con and a fridge with small freezer: great pool and short walk to the beach. Staff very friendly and helpful and definitely the best cocktails we had in three weeks. Very handy if you’re interested in visiting lanta animal welfare- we did every day! Just adopted a dog! I’d definitely return.

Connor and Sai are a great team. We came from 5 star banyan tree in Bangkok and had 3 days here. Modern yet homely rooms. Beds so comfy' food was outstanding. We normally stay at Banana Garden but it was fully booked. We found Soontreeya on trip advisor. The reviews were spot on. Connor and Sai looked after our every need for 3 days. He even drove us to Ao Nang and arranged our boat transfer to Koh Yao Yai. 10/10' we will be back, the Gilligans,Manchester.

Very comfortable”

Our stay was great, we've spent more time than planned. The staff is attentive and hard working, rooms are spacious, with shelf and closet to keep things organized; rooms are dry, with lots of light; well decorated and very clean, with a fresh smell. Bathroom is good, with a nice shower and floor that dries fast (they don't have a separated area for shower, as in many places in asia - but it's far enough from toilet). it's very close to the beach (long beach and also relax bay), with lots of restaurants and 7/11 around. also, they offer scooter rent and touristic services as transfers at a good price. Highly recommend if you want a nice and not very expensive place to stay in Koh Lanta.

Everything was just as expected, maybe even better”

Near to everything, owner very kind with lots of information. A bit slow staff but great breakfast, the pool is clean, houses are nice. If we decide to come to Lanta, we'll probably go to Soontreeya again

Very good hotel. The room felt new. We stayed there for 7 days. Close to beach. The chef made very good vegetrian food to me and my wife, it wasent even at the meny. If we go to koh lanta again we will stay at this hotel.

Great atmosphere”

We spent 3 nights at Soontreeya Lanta. Room was big and comfy, wifi was good and there is a nice swimming pool. The location is not ideal with not much nearby, not much interesting within walking distance and a rather rocky beach that is not good for swimming. Most organized travel will refuse to drive all the way to the hotel so you’ll be left having to walk to the Main Street with you luggages which might be difficult for some. Breakfast was good but service very inconsistent as you never knew the exact time the staff would decide to show up in the morning. On the brighter side, they have pool parties on some days, with live music and a DJ and the atmosphere was fun, even with/for our 8 years old.

We LOVED Soontreeya!!”

This place is pretty incredible. My boyfriend and I had our own bungalow, which was super quaint and comfortable with its lovely paintings, outdoor porch and comfortable bed. We were fortunate to stay for 3 entire weeks, so we were nervous about selecting a place for such an extended period, but we could not have chosen better. Soontreeya is right next to great restaurants, a two minute walk from ocean, and nested in a garden of trees. Also, the owners Conor and Sa are absolutely wonderful! They made us feel so at home. You should definitely stay at Soontreeya if you have the chance!

Nice atmosphere -space between the bungalows”

The hotel is completely at the end of Phra Ae beach (or long beach), very close to the beach but not beachfront. It is run by a friendly family , and the rooms are very well maintained with nice design. The swimming pool and the garden are agreeable. The breakfast is quite simple (no buffet- but eggs-bread-jam-tea/coffee) and the food at the restaurant only average, there is a better atmosphere at the restaurant on the beach a few meters below. This part of the beach is rocky and there is 10 min walks (can do it from the beach) to go to the part where it is possible to swim.

Fab rooms and a lovely staff”

The lady who looks after reception is really lovely and looked after us so well. We originally booked for one night but stayed on for 2 as we liked it so much before continuing our travels. The rooms are really nice and although set back from the beach they give a nice access to the main road shops and bars also. As an example of service, when we checked out we left something in the room. But as the lady had booked our cab for us to take us further on in Lanta, she arranged for that same taxi to pick up the items and drive it down to our new huts!!! Amazing.
