"First of all, this hotel is very luxury at a budget price. Most budget hotels in Thailand have outdated furnishings and wall hangings, but every inch of this hotel is clean, well-maintained, very luxury looking. The staff is outstanding and there is a doorman or other staff about every 20 meters of the hotel. Check-in and check-out was fast, and we even got fast service when we needed an extra room card. I mention this because I read many horror story reviews on here before we booked the place. I only saw crowds in the reception area when a bus came in (which there were many - its one of the biggest hotels in Bangkok). The breakfast was outstanding. You can eat in the cafe, which has outdoor dining, or the upstairs restaurant. Both have the same food, so it depends if want a city view with your breakfast, or some fresh morning air. The Thai restaurant at the top of the hotel wasn't very impressive. The food was bland and overpriced. We live in Northeast Thailand, so maybe we are spoiled. The best part of the hotel was the room. We stayed in a 3-bedroom suite, which was a mini-apartment. It actually looks like the hotel bought a condo building next door and turned the condos into rooms. The beds were comfortable, everything was clean and new, and there was lots of space. We actually only needed 2-bedrooms, but the upgrade price was so cheap we went with 3-bedrooms. The suites have their own lobby, elevators, and secured parking. If you want to go shopping, which was the primary reason we stayed at this hotel (the kids needed clothes for school), there is a 6-floor fashion mall below the hotel. Its the place to get good, low priced clothes (6th floor has a food court). If you want to save even more money, get up at 3am and walk outside. From 3-6am, the streets around the hotel hold the largest clothes wholesale market in SE Asia. Hundreds of sellers line the streets selling every kind of clothes you can think of. We saved 70% on school clothes this year."

"Let me start with the good, I really did enjoy my stay here. It's in a unique location and the land has a neat history. The hotel itself is very scenic. Staff are friendly and try their best to facilitate your needs. The rooms are very well priced and I'd gladly recommend this hotel to anyone. All my complaints are relatively minor. When I arrived it turned out that my booking was mixed up somehow, instead of one bed for us the request on their end said two beds. No idea why, my PDF booking said one large bed. Then they asked my wife if her name was Jennifer (it's not). Later had my wife asking "Who's Jennifer?" The water was never hot, just warm. When I asked the cleaning lady to give my wife and me 2 minutes, she said okay and just never cleaned the room. The sound on the TV didn't work for 2 days, after the first day a maintenance man was sent to check it but I have no idea what came of that because when we returned that day it still wasn't working. All and all, we loved our stay."

"Was traveling with my significant other and we absolutely loved the hotel! The location is great! It’s right by the democracy monument so giving directions when taking a tuk-tuk or cab was easy, Khao San road and the golden mountain are just a few blocks away, and we quickly learned our was around the area. The staff was incredibly friendly and did a wonderful job of making us feel welcomed. Everything was kept very clean and the housekeepers came by daily to tidy up our room, empty the trash bins, and give us fresh towels. They stocked the room with toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, q-tips, and more! Our room also had a mini fridge which was very convenient and we used it to keep our many bottles of water cold. We also loved that we could easily control the temperature in our room with a very nice air conditioning system. The only reason it doesn’t get a 5 Star for facilities is because there are a few minor inconveniences, but nothing big enough to ruin our stay! The main inconvenience was the fact that the toilet is extremely close to the sink. I am 5’6 and my boyfriend is 6’0 and we were hitting our knees on the sink every rim we had to go to the bathroom. "Very nice place in a great location right by Khaosan Road. Very nice modern touches and good value. WiFi was difficult to stay connected. Pool area would be nice if opened later. Overall would definitely recommend if planning on staying somewhere close to Khaosan Road and still feeling like you are in a private retreat. "

"Booked this hotel due to its central location near Khaosan Road and its swimming pool. Was very happy with the quick checkin. Booked the junior King rooms- very large rooms with a gigantic bed and comfy couch. The bathroom was very large and our room had a working safety deposit box. Pool was very clean and just what was needed for Bangkok during the summer. Location of hotel was ideal for us just 300m from Khaosan Road which was close enough to come and go but far enough away from the craziness. Would definitely recommend this hotel for its comfort, pool and location if you're planning on staying around Khaosan Road."

"The Royal Princess is located 30 minutes walking distance to Khaosan Rd. It is very modern and for the hotels that I've enjoyed in Bangkok it's by far the best. As soon as you enter the large lobby you realize that this place is going to be nice. The staff was extremely helpful organizing transportation and answering questions relating to Bangkok. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The bathrooms are large and include a tub. I enjoyed the swimming pool with is its lounge chairs and covered day beds. For the price this place is such a bargain! We would definitely stay there again."

"I stayed 2 nights in a Standard double bed room. I was impressed by the smart room design, everything is very convenient, look new, fresh and clean. The staff are always willing to go out of their way to make us happy. They offer free tuk tuk to Grand Palace in the morning (8 AM, 10 AM, 12 AM ) and Khaosan road in the afternoon (2 PM, 4 PM, 6 PM), which is great but remember to book in advance - right when you check in especially for tuk tuk at nice time like 8:00 AM - it's getting full quickly. Location: Luckily I cancelled a booking in Khaosan road to stay in Tara. Khaosan road is a crazy road, noisy overnight, lots of fun and crazy things - just suitable for having fun, not sleeping. Tara is 15 mins walking to Khaosan, which is ok for me. Or they have free tuk tuk if you don't want to walk. Service: Nothing to complain. They also allowed us to leave our bags the whole afternoon after checking out - for free. When I came back to take my bags, I forgot my bag ticket which is supposed to pay a fine I think - but the reception just remind us not to do it again. Tara is def a wonderful place to stay. Will def come back here!"

"This will be my hotel for all future visits to Bangkok. Everything is in walking distance or a short ride away. There is a boat nearby which gets you to Silom area and major malls for 20 baht. Everything else you'd want to see in BKK you can walk to. Khaosan road is about 7 minutes walk as are most of the temples. City Hall and the Big Swing are just a few steps away. Plenty of very good restaurants, including some fast food familliars are all around. I especially recommend trying the local diners for great meals at low cost. Staff here is helpful and very nice. Rooms and hotel is being remodeled. Some floors show a bit of use but everything is cleaned daily. No bugs, didn't even see gecko. Rooms are big and have balconies. For me this is the perfect hotel if you are not looking for fancy pools and luxury. I will certainly be returning and recommending."

"We have been to bangkok about 10 times, stayed in a few other places both on and off Khaosan, yet find this place the best. The price is fair, rooms are clean and current. The staff is friendly. While we usually don't bother with their breakfast, it is pretty good. Khaosan can get really loud, but we find this hotel to be rather quiet. Rooms have balconies. Hotel is safe. Khaosan Rd itself is a good location because unlike Sukumvit there is good food available at all hours of the day, including cheap and yummy street food. This is key when flying in late or combating jet lag. Granted Khaosan is quite the party scene, but you can choose your level of involvement. The only set back with this hotel is that there is no pool. Nonetheless we have stayed here about 4 times and will stay here on our future trips to BKK"

"Very good location. It's a 3 minute walk from the busy Khaosan road, it's located in Rambutree alley which also offers lots of places to eat, get a massage and some shopping. The hostel is very clean and provides you with your basic needs (towels, shampoo, bath soap, toilet paper, ac). For 800 baht per night it's really a bargain. Upon entering the hostel you must leave your shoes in the locker designated for your room, so you have to walk barefoot inside the hostel. This is to make the place cleaner I guess, but personally I wasn't too happy about this since we had to remove our shoes and open the locker every time we went in and out. I'm not sure if this is a pro for you or a con, you judge. Pros: -Location -Cheap -Clean and neat -Seems new Cons: -No refrigerator -No TV -No daily room cleaning till we checked out (I'm not sure though if they will clean upon request) -Soft noise (bearable) from the bars around Overall I am happy with my stay here. Will be back. "
