Great for the price”

Great service. First of all we could only reach the Lodge 2 days later than booked because of some unforeseen circumstances. I emailed the Lodge and thankfully received a prompt reply which assured me they would keep the room for us. I must commend the staff for such quick service which put my mind at ease. Fast check-in and check-out too. As for the room itself, it was clean and comfortable with a squeaky clean bathroom. No frills but what was important was that the bathroom was CLEAN. Housekeeping did a fantastic, thorough job even when we did not hang the "makeup room" sign. Friendly, too. It is a very short walk from Kings Cross station, which is not a long distance from the airport. The location is definitely not an upscale area. It is around the younger, rowdier restaurant and bars area of town, which we did not mind as we did not venture out late at night. In fact we had a nice dinner at a nearby restaurant. However if you plan to return late do be careful as the area is known to be less safe than other areas in Sydney. Only two minor points to complain about: 1. No free internet. We relied on a nearby restaurant for this. 2. There was no table/chair in front of the mirror, which made doing my face in the morning less convenient than what I am used to. Other than that, everything was great. No frills or wastage of space or resources. Excellent value for the price you pay, especially in an expensive city like Sydney. I would definitely recommend the Springfield Lodge to any of my friends traveling to Sydney. Such a pity that we could only stay 2 nights instead of the initially planned 4 nights.

Perfect 2-day Sydney Exploration”

I booked at Springfield Lodge 6 months ahead and so I got the Budget Twin Basement Room at a very low price and I our 2 nights stay last November I must say was very worth it. The staff were very friendly. I loved their location despite being so close to the busy red light district area of Kings Cross. (Tip: Look for the Victoria St. Exit on the subway to avoid the chaotic Kings Cross Exit) We walked through Victoria St. to the Royal Botanic Gardens in just 10min. The budget room itself was very nice despite other reviews of it being so small. I think it fits the description and is more than adequate. The room is very clean and I appreciate the room service everyday. Loved the vacation experience in Sydney and Springfield Lodge, will definitely come back.

Great hotel at a budget price”

I love my stay at Springfield Lodge. Although, the room was not very big, it was well kept and very clean. The location of this hotel is great! It's located at Kings Cross which is quite the central part in Sydney. The train is just 5 mins walk away. There are also lots of small cafes located at the back alley near the hotel that serves excellent breakfast. We tried a different cafe every single day. It's amazing! Kings Cross is known to be a red light district with many entertaining adult shows in the area. Therefore, i would not recommend for family travelling with children. But if you're a couple on honeymoon and just here for holiday. It's an interesting place for you to have an eye opening experience.

Nothing negative to say ”

Read numerous bad reviews about Springfield Lodge - prior to booking. I am a 28 year old guy with a 23 year old Girlfriend and we had 0 issues! Really nice staff, comfortable rooms, late check out was accommodated and it is close to pubs/restaurants. I think it is comical that people could complain about it being near the red light district. It is in Kings Cross - its the red light district lol. The hotel is great and in terms of Australian prices - it is very reasonable. Stay there

great Boutique hotel with alot of charm”

Springfield offers a rustic old building with nicely appointed rooms. The highlight for me is they have a kitchen for guests to use in the basement so I was able to shop at Coles 5 minutes from Springfield lodge and cook my own meals saving me lots of money on eating out. Staff if very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay as the kings cross rail station is a 3 minute walk and from there you can go all over Sydney.

Bring back the kitchenette, please”

I went to Sydney to attend the Sydney Writers Festival. For four years in a row I chose Springfield Lodge. I was surprised when the staff told kitchenette was closed two months ago. The main factor in my choosing Springfield Lodge because of the distance, comfortable and convenient. I hope the management can provide it again. Next year I'm back here again, hopefully still have a kitchenette.

Reasonably priced hotel near King's Cross metro st”

I had a pleasant stay at the Springfield Lodge which is located near King's Cross metro station. I was looking for a hotel that would be reasonably priced and close to Sydney city center, and Springfield lodge met these requirements. Agoda's offered price is the best if you book in advance. The hotels in Sydney are expensive and the Springfield lodge is possibly one of the best within this price range. I booked a small double room for two nights - the room was rather small and the bathroom was definitely not designed for the tall and mighty. Also,my friend's warned me about the location prior to my arrival - King's Cross does not have the best name in Sydney. I arrived quite late and was a little hungry, therefore went out to find a takeaway, 20 meters away from the hotel door I was offered drugs and other things... However, there are plenty of restaurants and takeaways around the hotel, so one will never go hungry. I would not recommend this hotel to families with children due to the location, and would like to recommend a bigger room to people who are tall and mighty. Other than that, I will possibly stay at the Springfield lodge on my next visit to Sydney.

Great location & modest room at affordable price”

We stayed in 2 different room types - a small double room and a King room. (1) The small double room (Room 401) was of a decent size with a small window but no view. The bathroom was surprisingly huge with stairs leading up to the showers and changing area. But the sink was very tiny and difficult to do any serious washing without spilling water everywhere. The bed was supposed to be a double bed but it feels smaller than a Queen size bed. Generally reasonable room for the price. (2) The King room (Rom 404) was surprisingly smaller than the small double room we stayed in earlier. There is a window with a lovely of the Sdyney night scene. We even managed to see a little of the Saturday fireworks! The bathroom was newly renovated but it was very small and narrow (really like the bathrooms in Japan hotels). Bed was comfortable. (3) Springfield Lodge has a great location, just a few minutes walk to the King's Cross station. Travel to the CBD or Circular Quay is easy and fast. The Cafe at the Lodge is popular with locals and travellers. There are many convenience stores and pharmacies around.

A Visit”

The Springfield Hotel is a small but very comfortable to stay if you are for a holiday or any kind of visit to Sydney. The most happening places to visit like the Harbour Bridge and Opera house is just about 20-30 minutes walk. If you still want to go to some more interesting places , you can always take the train which is just 5 minutes walk from the Hotel to the Kings Cross Station. The night life in the Kings Cross is busy with so many people you will see but it is very quite in the hotel rooms to have a good night sleep. I would definitely recommend Springfield Hotel for everyone.

A Wonderful Stay In Potts Point”

I had an excellent stay at Springfield. Very quaint building and little restaurant café at the front. The staff were so friendly and helpful. My room was lovely and I slept fitfully. Great location in Potts Point. Would highly recommend to my friends and colleagues. Thanks again.

Very friendly staff ”

It is good value to stay at Springfield Lodge. The people in the reception was very friendly and helpfull. The male receptionist in the daytime was simply "fanstastic". It is a simple place, but you really get, what you paid. There is free wi-fi internet. I have stayed several times at Springfield Lodge and would recommand the place.

Great value basics in a good location”

As usual very helpful staff. The rooms are basic but clean, the shower rooms tiny but functional and clean, my wife said the bed was the most comfortable she'd slept in for years and wants me to order the same mattress for home. There's a cafe on the front terrace (subcontracted out from the hotel) which is really good, quite chi-chi trendy and classy which is great for brunch, everything we've tried on the menu is perfect, most of the clientele aren't hotel stayers because it's so good it's the 'go to' place in the district. The Potts Point side of the hotel opens onto a trendy up-and-coming area, whereas the little bit round Kings Cross is a touch shady, but you are an easy walk from Paddington, from Woolomoloo Quay, the botanic gardens (leading to the opera house, circular quay, the rocks and the harbor bridge. All easy walks for the averagely unfit person. Oh, the hotel has a self serve laundry which is the cheapest option when traveling, and convenient.

Amazing location”

This hotel is best value for money for those who want to be in the hub of action, with super convenient public transport and walking distance to most that matters in Sydney. In the heart of Kings Cross, access to entertainment is unlimited. Darlinghurst, Surry Hills, Potts Point and Wooloomooloo are all walking distance, as is the CBD. Rooms are always clean and sufficiently supplied. Hotel has gone through renovations in recent times. Service is provided with a smile.

Great little place to stay”

My husband and I stayed three nights and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. It was a minute or two walk around the corner to King's Cross station. Only two stops to Bondi Junction or Martin Place. We saw Sydney harbour, Darling harbour, the CBD, eye tower etc all from getting off at Martin Place station. Despite being a few steps away from the Kings Cross strip, we had barely any noise disturbances, maybe just a bit of chatter and laughter when the window was open. We had a delicious steak at The Sugar Mill pub just opposite the lodge. There was a Coles supermarket on the strip also. There are many great little boutique restaurants in the surrounding streets and one just oursude the lodge, which looked lovely. The lodge had a kitchen with a microwave, stove top, table and chairs which was very handy! Our room was very tidy and clean and the lovely cleaners remade our room whilst we were out on the second day. Only downside I found was legroom in front of the toilet in the ensuite. You would be uncomfortable if you were very tall. Shower was a good size. Overall, a lovely little place to stay at a very reasonable rate. We hope to be back again one day!

Good value for price”

When I booked this room, I had no experience with Springfield Lodge and just needed a place to stay for a night before an early morning flight to New Zealand. After staying one night we booked a room again for our return flight since it was a good value. I had read other reviews for this Springfield Lodge which mentioned street noise as this is somewhat of a club area. We were there initially on a busy Friday night and did not hear street noise at all. Would stay again. It is a bit far from the airport, but there is plenty of transport available in all price ranges.

Very pleasant with helpful staff ”

The Springfield Lodge is a very well located hotel, just round the corner from the busy backpacker area and nicely hidden away from the slightly seedier parts of Kings Cross.We were looking for a cheap room like a dorm but discovered we would be paying between 20 and 30 dollars each (two of us). After we were offered a good deal at reception we worked out it wouldn't be that much more to have a private room in this nicely appointed hotel than it would have cost to stay in a dorm, so we did. The rooms were very nice, very clean, we were on the ground floor next to the service entrance, which was a bit of a pain as the staff hung outside our bedroom window and smoked while taking, often late at night. But I think this was more down to being unlucky with the room we got instaed of a problem with the hotel. There was no heater in the room, which, as the service door was open all day, waas a bit of a downer as the room was on the cold side, again this was more down to the specific room not the hotel. We justified the extra cost of the hotel by being completely self catering. We enjoyed staying there and would definately recommend it to anyone.

Nice Stay”

We enjoyed our stay in the springfield lodge. The room was very small as was the bathrooom but its situation within Sydney was brilliant, Kings Cross and pubs right at the door step and the Hop on Hop off Sydney Tour bus was around the corner which brought us to all the major sydney sights. The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were very helpful. There was no parking and parking was expensive enough within the city - $20 a day and we had the car there 5 days!!! All adds up. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone for value for money!

Not too bad stay ”

Springfield Lodge is located in the infamous Kings Cross Street. The location is very near to the train station and there is a lot of eating places around. . We booked the basement and our room is next to the laundry room. Agreed that the wall is thin and you will hear dragging of luggage and footsteps but it doesn’t bother me. Did not see the kitchen, I think is no longer in service. Room and bathroom are small but I am happy for the price that I paid for. Shower was good. Cons : Only two power outlet in the room which is very inconvenient if we want to watch tv, boil water, charge camera battery and handphone at the same time. At least 3 outlet would be better. No floor mate outside the bathroom. People loitering around the hotel entrance at night which made me uncomfortable and insecure. Difficult to find parking lot just to unload/load our luggage. Overall, I would still stay there again if the price is right. We took a taxi from the airport on Fri around 12 pm. Cost AUD$50. I think is ok and it save us the the trouble of dragging the luggage from the train station to the hotel since taking the train is around AUD 34 for 2 pax. We booked the Sydney Airport transfer thru the hotel at $14pp. Try the fish and chips at the Harris Market. They taste so goooooooood.

Good location, decent room, and nice staff”

The Springfield Lodge is a nice enough place to stay, just a 3 minutes by train to the heart of Sydney. The rooms are relatively small, but clean and the hotel staff are excellent. Kings Cross is well-known for its seediness and while that element is very much alive, once you move away from that block you'll find a beautiful neighbourhood brimming with great cafes and restaurants. Also, with the train station a block away, you can be in downtown Sydney in 5 minutes. WIFI works well though you'll have to pay for it. Good place for short stays. Everything in Sydney is overpriced and this hotel is no different, but it's all relative and we are relatively happy with our experience there.

Good value, great location”

Ideally located in Potts Point near the edge of Kings Cross, it was the perfect launch pad for seeing Sydney. With great cafes and restaurants within 100m, Kings Cross Station nearby and the ability to walk into the city through the botanic gardens, we will stay here again. Sound does carry so if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs
