Sukau Proboscis Lodge Bukit Melapi have sold our confirmed booking to someone else.”
It was a big disappointment to us, that Sukau Proboscis Lodge Bukit Melapi have sold our confirmed booking to someone else. We do not at all understand this way of doing business. I am glad that we could restrain the boatman at the jetty until an alternative was found although the woman at the lodgereception tried to get rid of us. Sukau Proboscis Lodge Bukit Melapi do never answer E-mails.

Great hospitality and wildlife”
Every day 2 river cruises are included. On the arrival day you get lunch at 1:30 pm and afternoon tea/coffee at 3:30. At 4 pm you leave for the first river cruise untill about 6:15. At 7 pm dinner is ready and the rest of the night is free time. They can take you for a night walk but this is not included. Next morning at 6 there is a small breakfast and from 6:30 to 08:30 there is another river cruise. Additional breakfast is served when you return and then the daycycle repeats. We stayed for 3 days and did 5 river cruises and saw all the wildlife we wanted. 2 cruises were even to locations to maximize the odds of spotting elephants and crocodiles as we didnt saw them untill then.

great location”
Brilliant location, great tours/river trips & the staff were so very helpful despite it being low season..... & the food was great despite us being the only people staying there. But the facilities were a bit shabby & it's in desperate need of some TLC. Simple rooms, could do with update & decoration

Great location”
The chalets were well maintained and had private views of the extensive grounds. Good walks around the property. The big dissapointment was dinner being charged in US$ so aout four times the price of a good Malaysian restaurant. We had dinner at a cafe down the road.

Staff was very friendly and the food was great. The surroundings are armazing. If You bring Your own car You just have to live it by the river and You are then taken by boat to the hotel which we found really nice.

3D2N does NOT include transportation ”
Be aware that the 3D2N package does NOT include transportation to/from the lodge. This is significant as the lodge is across the river from Sukau, and you must take a boat from a jetty that is a ways away from the village. We paid 630 RM additional for transportation, although cheaper options are available if you can tolerate the hassle. We were also the only guests at the lodge, which can be good or bad. Bathrooms could use improvement, but otherwise not a bad place. Food was great, river guide was great. Just expected more from the price we ended up paying, since Greenview was much cheaper.

Paradise on the River”
This lodge is amazing, with staff that are there for your every need. The trips in the boats up and down the river were amazing with such fantastic wildlife and nature to be seen. the food was good, and there was always plenty. The resort itself is a bit "off the grid" with wifi only in the reception area. but the natural beauty will have you forgetting there is a world out there that you are no longer connected to.

Outstanding”
The people, the location, the sounds and the overall experience.
Don't waste your time deliberating over which lodge to stay at, with the exception of the uber expensive one they're all very similar. However, I strongly advise you choose proboscis lodge as the staff are simply outstanding. Fendy our guide was the highlight of our 2 week travels through Borneo, he was exceptional, brilliant at spotting animals and generally very likeable. All the staff are so intent on making you enjoy yourself, they offer a rarely found genuine desire to make sure you're happy. If you've been salavating over Masai Mara type ultra luxurious lodges then spend 20 times the cash and go there instead. Any negative reviews of this Proboscis Lodge are clearly the work of people who 'just didn't get it'. GO!!

great boat tours”
the animals we saw, the food and staff
our stay the sukau proboscis lodge was pleasant, lovely staff and boat tour, we saw elephants and proboscis monkeys wild orang-utans, croc's and many birds. The lodge its self is odd a huge bar and dining area but it was empty. it was expensive but not grand but not poor. If it was cheaper you would feel very happy with the place, lovely food huge amounts, and yes there is no wifi, its the jungle!

Great place for wildlife adventures”
Amazing location, superb food and excellent Boatmen
Could not have asked for a better place to stay in Sukau. The boatman here is amazing..Spotted wild animals, and reptiles that were missed by most other navigators. Cannot recommend this place more. Yes, the place does not have a TV or Wifi which could have made this place perfect, but you dont come to Sukau for TV/Wifi. Amazing place. You wont regret it

For a wildlife hotel lodge, very nice”
A/C and running water in the rooms!, good food
Having stayed at a home stay the previous few days in Sukau without running water or even a fan, this was heaven. That said, it is in Sukau, fabulous for wildlife but nothing else, so they did a great job creating such a nice, modern place. The food is pretty good, too, and they even have cokes and beer available! We didn't use their boat guide, but given the area, you will have to see great wildlife here (we saw proboscis and macaque monkeys, along with orangutans and elephants in the wild, and lots of birds etc), which is the only reason anyone comes to Sukau. It's a couple of hours from Sandakan, on the river, and isn't for people who think it's a nice day trip to a zoo (go to Sepilok -- they do good work, it's close in, and you can see the orangs up close, but it's not the wild), but it's fantastic for people who appreciate truly wild habitat and respect the creatures living there.

Standard jungle hotel but poor management”
friendly staff
Nice location but poor rooms and management. Rooms are large but dark. Once we were there (access is by the hotel-owned canoe) management asked for the double of the rate already paid to allow our two kids to stay in the same room! The jungle safari was OK.

Gerne wieder!
