Lovely place for family holiday”

We had a thoroughly good time at Sunwing Bangtao. Rooms very clean, spacious, comfortable; staff friendly and helpful; great breakfast and restaurant (1 child eats free with a paying adult and kids’ meals are good); lots of things to do for kids and adults; clean, spacious pools and own beach; lots of places to eat in close vicinity - we enjoyed all of them, especially Captain Kook Seafood a few minutes’ walk up the beach for sunset dinners while kids play in the sand. Third time to Thailand, second to Phuket, but first time with kids (4 and 6 years old) - Sunwing Bangtao was perfect for us.

We stayed for 8 nights and just wished we were able to stay longer. This was our second stay at Sunwing, Bangtao Beach and it was better than the first.The staff were always very helpful, happy and nice in every way. The service was what surprised us. Outstanding!! Nothing was too difficult for them and always with a smile. Food terrific, great for us adults and my daughter (5yr old) loved the buffet at night. The beach was picture perfect, hot sun, white sand and crystal clear blue water. Everything about Sunwing Resort at Bangtao Beach. But my special mention must go to the 4 singers who put on a show every night with singing and dancing for all age groups. Abba tribute, rock, pop, eurovision, etc. What a great group of young people. My wife and I loved their show every night. Congratulation to them and Sunwing for making our stay one of the best holidays we have had. Thank you. I recommend if you have kids, come here and dont stay for only a couple of days. Get ready for a great holiday!!

Great family resort”

Sunwing Bangtao is a lovely resort with great amenities for the children (several swimming pools), a slide (which could use an upgrade), play area, activity center, and is perfectly situated so that the beach area is shaded all day (perfect for hanging out with the kids) and it's always breezy so it's never ever hot. It's a family resort so a bunch of children takes turn crying and screaming, the restaurant could sound like a market, but it's perfect for families with kids because there's no judgement and everyone is very understanding of the situation (you don't get the stinky eye or stress yourself to quite down an upset child) so it's perfect. As a result, my husband and I got to enjoy a relaxing vacation despite tantrums and crying in between. The resort has a massage place by the beach for 300THB (about $10?). There are plenty of restaurants on the beach to the left (if facing the ocean) with fresh seafood, although just a bit pricey. It's near local night markets (certain days only) for 100THB on a tuktuk or 200THB on a taxi. The taxi fare by meter from the airport is only 410THB during the day, but it's very common for them to ask for 500THB or much more in some cases. The night fare is a set amount of 700THB from the airport. We had a lovely time in this resort. It has really made an impression on us and we cannot wait to go back next year. They will all be renovated then so we want to come back all the more.

Perfect family resort”

We spent a week at the Sunwing in Bangtoa beach resort in July with our 4 year old son and 7 year old daughter. We had previous stayed at the Kamala beach winding 2 years earlier and thought we try Bangtao this time. The beach and the resort was quieter than Kamala beach, but it was a perfect family holiday once again with Sunwing! Big thumbs up and thank you to Sunwing, its Manager and very helpful and pleasing staff for helping us have a great, fun filled beautiful stay at you resort and in Thailand. We loved everything and we come again. Either the resort was recently fully renovated or you all just keep it immaculate! Great rooms,great pools, good food and great staff!!

We stayed at Sunwing Bangtao from 10-24th of April 2019. The service and staff at Sunwing Bangtao Beach were outstanding. The hotel location, rooms and facilities are really great for families. We hope to stay at Sunwing Bangtao Beach again soon.

Great resort for kids & parents!”

We stayed at the Sunwing in Bang Tao for the first half of our 8-day vacation in April/May 2012 and enjoyed it thoroughly. 4 pools, plus a kids' pool with small slide, as well as a baby pool and a kids' club with daily activities. Great location on beautiful Bang Tao beach, helpful & friendly staff . . . We had a "Royal Family Studio" room with pool access, which was awesome. Kids 12 and under eat free from the kids' menu at the resort's restaurant and the food is great! The only con was the state of the sun chairs on the beach and the sun chair mafia that rents them out, but that wasn't the hotel's fault.

A Wonderful Family Getaway!”

Definitely a more relaxing holiday resort/area compared to Karon and Patong. The sunwing Bang Tao resort has everything you need within walking distance. Great for families with kids. The quality of food was better at the hotel restaurant than at any of the other restaurants nearby. Lots of entertainment for the kids. We stayed at the royal beachfront suite which had plenty more terrace /lounger space than the other units. Opt for this! The hotel taxi rates were very high, use gettransfer.com or Grab instead. We paid 650 Bhat instead of 900 bhat for a transfer to karon.

Hotel is fine but the Spa is overpriced”

Sunwing is a family-friendly resort chain. There’s a clinic, kids club, and kids below 12 eat free with paying adults. The rooms come with 2 sofa beds, with enough towels and beddings for 4. The pantry is equipped with cutleries and a microwave. However, there isn’t a bathtub or a hand held shower. Not so easy to shower young kids properly. A baby tub is provided only in the Happy Baby Studio. The TV is CRT, so you can’t plug in your media player. Sunwing Bangtao is located almost in the middle of the 6km stretch of beach. Mostly calm, shallow sea. Just a few jelly fish to watch out for. The hotel has direct beach access, which is great. The wading and kids pools are by the beach too. There are a few easily accessible beachside eateries but beware of high tides in the evening. If you venture farther, chances are you’ll be wading in sea water trying to get back to Sunwing. Just opposite the hotel entrance, there’s quite a nice restaurant. The prices are the same as those casual beach side ones. As we visited during the low season, the breakfast spread wasn’t great – we had better at a cheaper hotel – but hey, it filled us up good. Food quality was fine. No complaints re service staff. Those from The Philippines speak English and the Europeans are multi lingual. The Spa is a let down. Old, and uninteresting. Overpriced. Better, cheaper available out of hotel. Like most international branded hotels, in-room internet access is expensive. They do have free access at the lobby though. On the whole, we prefer the newer Sunwing at Kamala beach. Sunwing Kamala has bigger pools, better movie area and is better located to amenities. The only downside is the rooms are located far from the beach, unless you get the beach front rooms. OH and no free internet access.

Great family holiday”

This hotel is great for traveling with young children. Our kids had a blast and were happy all day playing in the pools, using the water slides and making use of the play areas. Breakfast was amazing and varied. We also had dinner at the restaurant and really enjoyed the Thai food there. A bonus is that kids eat for free. Bang Tao beach is a beautiful quiet stretch of beach with nice bars and beach restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. We also walked to Surin beach, to a nice village and explored Phuket Laguna. Hotel staff was friendly and efficient. We‘ve stayed a week just to relax and couldn’t have been happier. If you travel with young children this place is for you.

Fantastic Resort on the beach. Everything about this resort is really excellent”

Fantastic resort and a really great stay at Sunwing Resort. I stayed for 10 days with my family and young kids 3, 5, and 7. We all loved this resort so much. Everything could not have been better. Excellent everything, location, on the beach, near Villa supermarket, and many excellent restaurants. We all miss being there and look forward to coming back. Sunwing Staff, thank you all for your excellent service, smiles, and making our stay really great. You are the best.

Sunwing Resort & Spa”

Phuket is a typical two week tourist package resort. Expect to pay high tourist prices for taxis (very expensive)and tours. The Sunwing resort is a very nice resort, dont get me wrong, but it is exactly what it states - a family resort. The resort is full of children, dominantly under the age of 5. So expect lots of young kids. The beach at Bang Tao is lovely and the many swimming pools are equally good. It is easy to spend a whole day relaxing on the golden sands.All of Bang Tao is pretty quiet and remote so for nightlife you are looking at getting a cab into the nearby busier areas. Also I had never before been to a resort hotel that was so predominantly full of guests who were Russian and German.....

Good hotel for family activities, not so relaxing”

After a week at a perfect hotel (Panwa Beach Resort) with nice and quiet and chep food and dringk, we were somewhat dissapointed when we arrived to Sunwing Bangtao Beach. We did know when we booked it that it was a family hotel and many Swedes would be there, but the difference from Panwa was stunning. However, afetr a day or two we had accepted this and we liked the rest of the stay quite good. The prices were about 50% higher on all things compared with other places we've been to in Thailand, even though not expensive by Swedish standards. The breakfast buffet was quite noisy and stressing. The local beach restaurants are way better and cheaper that the hotel restaurants, so use them!

Amazing location and family friendly”

We travelled with a 2 year old and couldn't feel more at home. Many kid friendly facilities including 4 excellent pools. The resort has direct beach access on to Bangtao beach so no no need to cross any risky roads. The beach is quite good with very few people. Overall excellent resort for families with children.

Excellent for families”

Excellent for families with children - that is what you pay for while staying in this hotel. If you are young couple request room on the sports side of the hotel (at least in low season, hotel is less than half occupied) unless you like young kids around you. In high season Dec-Mar the beach will be possibly nice, as we stayed twice in low season Sep and Oct the waves always bring some sort of garbage to the beach. In addition, although this is the longest beach in Phuket the appearance is not so nice, all hotels and their managemant should push local autorities to solve the problem of all abandoned wooden shelters. Evening entertainment in Sunwing - among of all the Thai kickboxing or flamed stick show - in my opinion not good for young children as they will follow it. Overal - for families it is a nice place to stay, for couples - it is possible to pay less for simmilar standard on Kata beach or Kamala or add a bit more and stay in Sheraton... just you will not possibly find 4-5 swimming pools in one resort somewhere else. Buffet breakfast good enough with eastern and western choices

Didn't want to leave”

the Sunwing is a super resort for all ages. The rooms were large and spacious, well equipped and with little extras like washing up liqiud and t-towels. Breakfast was fantastic, very good variety and such a superb setting on the beach. We used the takeaway for evening meals and all the thai dishes were excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't want to leave!

nice hotels for families”

very nice hotel with 4 big swimming pools: 1 for kids, 1 for families, 1 for sport and 1 for relaxation direct access to the beach. bangtao beach is my favorite in phuket plenty of activities available for adults and kids breakfast 100% same every morning no room service, impossible to get food after 10 pm from the restaurant. at 12 pm the mini market closes down so after midnight it's impossible to get any food from the whole compound THB 2,100 for 7 days of internet service is quite expensive. in my opinion should be free of charge

Great Beach Resort, Great for Families”

Loved the resort - it's beautiful and kid friendly, as advertised. The rooms aren't huge, but the clever layout turned out to be just perfect for our family of 4. Hotel is immaculate, staff very friendly, and very kid friendly as well. Swimming pools are clean and there are many of them. You have a comfortable place to stay and you're right on the beach - perfect! We were there in October where there's actually a pretty decent surf on this beach. So kids can't go in unsupervised, and adults were advised to watch out too. I love big waves so no issue and there's plenty of nice kid-friendly swimming pools inside. We did not partake in any of the kid activities - neither did the other guests. I guess these would only make sense if they included child care, but they don't and so parents would have to be there to supervise. I'd rather sit at the pool and the kids would rather be in the pool! Nanny can be hired for 300 THB/hour for 1 child. 390 for 2. The only disappointment was the restaurant - Thai food the usual tourist fare but at resort prices; western food just OK but also very expensive for what you get. There really isn't anything around the resort either. We had a rental car so we were able to drive 10 or 15 minutes to the good places to eat. Breakfast buffet was great though - a saving grace. The resort has a mini mart; some items in there are grossly overpriced, others just have a small markup - overall it's great to have the option. The nearest 7/11 is about 5 minutes drive away, or 15 minutes walking. Our family drinks a lot of water so I was a bit annoyed that the mini mart sells water at over 100% margin, more than double the fair price.

Great family vacation”

This was our 2nd stay at Sunwing Bang Tao and we will continue to come back for family beach vacations. The hotel has wonderful pools and is right on the beach. The beach is great with a pretty calm sea for young children. The night entertainment is good for the children. This hotel is definitely for families as it is a taxi ride away from nightlife and better restaurants.

Disappointing”

We are a party of 2 adults and 2 children and staid at the Sunwing for 3 nights, but won't be returning for the following reasons 1) very poor breakfast : no fresh rolls, no cheese, no capuccino, no herbal teas, no smoked salmon.... Just all the average stuff one gets at boarding school. However, the breakfast location was great overlooking Bang Tao beach 2) great beach front but very badly maintained. The loungers looked scruffy and uninviting. A lot of the adjacent beach shacks looked damaged and deserted 3) Service : very average for a country which prides itself on its smiles 4) taxi service : very expensive and no alternative available apart from renting a car which we did and which turned out to be a great decision. Driving in Phuket is easy. Positives 1) great beach front location. Bang tao beach is a great beach when the tide is out and is very swimmable. It is a far quieter part of the island than Patong, so if you are looking for action, don't stay in Bang Tao 2) pools : good number of pools for the kids 3) rooms of decent size : great for families with 2 kids. Rooms have double bed and 2 single beds which double up as a sofa This is definitely a family resort for the budget traveller. I had the impression that many people were travelling on cheap package holidays. This hotel shows little refinement. If you are looking to be pampered, please give this hotel a skip.
