Fantastic hotel with excellent location”

Swissotel Nankai Osaka is definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed in in Japan - it is to me on par with Frasers Residence Nankai Osaka, with the only exception being Frasers Residence has washing machines in their apartments, which are super convenient. First of all, the location. The hotel is located right above Namba Station. If you are taking the Rapit or Nankai Airport Express, the hotel entrance is on the left of the Central exit. If you have lots of luggage to carry, there is a hotel phone on Platform 9 - just call and they will come down to help you with your luggage! Namba Station is also the intersection for other subways, including Midosuji line. It is a great base to explore Osaka and Kyoto from. Next is the room size. I can safely say it is the biggest hotel room I have stayed in Japan before (and I have been to Japan numerous times, trying out various hotels like Tokyo Metropolitan Hotel). The rooms are newly renovated in 2011 and has cool amenities like a Nespresso coffee machines. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom well appointed. My only grouse is that if you do not completely finished a tube of toiletries, they would not replace it with a new one. I ended up with no shower gel at one time when I left an almost empty tube of shower gel in the shower and the Housekeeping did not replace it with a new one. The service at the hotel is also excellent - I was served twice by Concierge, who was knowledgeable and spoke very good English. She recommended us to lunch places even as far as Kyoto and gave us specific instructions down to the subway ticket price. Everyone from the FOA to the Bellboy was courteous and friendly - this hotel by far has the best service I've ever experienced on a holiday.

Super convenient with attentive staff”

I spent 6 nights in Osaka and Kyoto for my vacation with my family and regret that I stayed only one night at the Swissotel. However, my experience at the hotel was by far the best among hotels of similar ranking in Osaka and Kyoto. Hotel was conveniently located with easy access to subway and train stations. Staff were attentive and helpful. We didn't have to touch our luggage after check-in and they were promptly delivered to our room. The answers we received when asking questions were useful and in sufficient details while the staff seemed to be willing to answer all questions. Our experience with other hotel staff were much less satisfactory both in terms of English proficiency and their attentiveness. In-room free wifi was also available. I would highly recommend Swissotel Nankai Osaka to anyone who are still hesitant to book a hotel in Namba or Shinsaibashi.

Great location and recommended for families”

Hotel's location was great, placed in between shopping malls and walking distance to the famous Dotonburi, Namba station was just underground so we had no difficulties in navigation. Takashimaya department store is just below the hotel, and there were a lot of pharmacies and restaurants nearby. Although i find it pricey for its room, and a 5 year old breakfast is chargeable, airport transfers were chargeable ( so they suggested us to take the Rapit train instead which takes about 48mins from airport to hotel, the hotel bell service were immediately sent as soon as we called them from their phonebooth at the Namba station); its the comfort that is worth the penny. Staffs were polite and helpful; Room service in the middle of the night was on time and housekeeping is good. They even upgraded us to their Swiss Advantage room with a good view of the city and sent us chocolates as it was a birthday trip. for those travelling with a child or infant, i recommended Swissotel Nankai Osaka.

Efficient Hotel”

I enjoyed my stay at Swissotel Nankai Osaka. The hotel is located right above the train station. From the Kansai airport it's non stop to the hotel, so when you get off the station, you will see the entrance of the hotel right away. Location is good by the hotel there's the Takashimaya Store, the Namba Mall and the Namba Park mall. So whatever you need is available but if you want to go to the Dotonbori it's about 7km away. The hotel is not new the design is out dated but they kept it really clean that makes you feel comfortable. The size of the room is descent as compared to other hotels within the area. The hotel stuff are super friendly and efficient. They always clean and fix our room and they even provide us our bottled water (as we requested). Overall I have no regrets with my stay with Swissotel Nankai and I will definitely stay with them whenever I'm in town.

the hotel with the best location in osaka”

the swissotel nankai osaka hotel is without any doubt the hotel with the best location in all of osaka. it's right by namba train station which allows you to basically go anywhere within and outside of osaka. the subway is right underneath, and even the nankai railway (city-airport train line) is just below the hotel. takashimaya, one of japan's largest department store chains is also beneath the hotel. dotonbori and shinsaibashi are all only 10-15 minutes walk away. there are so many shops and restaurants around the hotel. the rooms also have free wifi which is always a plus.

The best place to stay in Namba”

We stayed here with our 2 year old, and the location and helpful service made it the best hotel for us, I would highly recommend Swissotel to anyone wanting to stay in Osaka and especially near/in Namba, we had a wonderful few days walking around and seeing all the sights. It's right in the middle of everything, we walked and took short subways everywhere. Because it's located above the Namba train station, it's convenient to check-in once arriving, hassle free. We took the subway into Namba from Shin-Osaka station, and it was so nice to not have to worry about how to get to our hotel. Subway station connects to train station underground and there are lots of signs that direct to Swissotel. Namba train station is great, like a shopping mall connecting to large department stores, shops and restaurants. Guest service/info booths are helpful too, one of these booths is on main floor of Namba station below the Swissotel, they speak English and are really informative. Also, note, from the main floor of Namba station you take elevator to floor 6 to get to Swissotel check-in. it's way above everything which also means great views once you get into your room! We will be back for sure. Happy travels!

I've visit osaka for many years but never stay at Swissotel Nankai Osaka. It is my first time there and I love it and will stay there again every time i visit Osaka. I use to stay at Nikko Osaka, IL Coure Hotel Namba but i think Swissotel is located at the best location. It is just crossing the street to Namba Park and it's connected Namba Park City. Also, not just the location, all hotel cleanliness is really excellent. Non-smoking room is a real non-smoking (no undesirable odors in room, bed, and towel).

Swissotel Nankai Osaka Hotel is undoubtedly one of the best hotel to stay in at Osaka. Its Location is the main strong point of the hotel, located on top of one of the major railway station making us easy to hop on and off the various train lines, also combined with the big Takashimaya Department Store for shopping. Dotonburi and Shinsaibashi are only minutes of walking distance from the hotel. Their services are excellent, and all the hotel employees are very friendly and very helpful. The rooms are quite spacious, very clean, and very comfortable. Haven't got the chance to try out the Spa and Massage services but our overall experience is AMAZING and we very much look forward to coming back here.

I enjoyed my stay at Swissotel Nankai Osaka. Though the price is relatively dear as compared to nearby hotels, it worth the money. Staffs in the hotel are attentive and helpful. Services (including room service, check-in and -out, guidance to nearby sites etc.) are quick. More, the hotel is well-located at Namba station, which is within walking distance to shopping malls, local wet markets and restaurants. It is so convenient. More, rooms are big and comfy. High ratings given!

Very nice hotel. Worth every cent...”

we were only staying in osaka for a couple of nights so every second counted. we were assisted by the friendly and knowledgeable staff of the swissotel nankai osaka hotel and were able to make the most of our short stay. the location is also very good with the hotel being attached to namba station; easy trip from the airport by train. approximately 45 minutes by regular train, 30 by express. highly recommended and the room sizes were fine for two people.

Best Location in Namba”

Swissotel Nankai is connected directly to Namba station, their porters and bell captain can pick you up from your Nankai express train and drop you to the train as the hotel has access to the platform. The location is great, the room is large and spacy. Agoda doesn't make it clear that their facilities (spa and pool) cannot be used by children below 6 years old; this information is hidden in the "fine print" and was unfortunate as we stayed here for the pool only to find our daughter cannot use it. The pool is available at an additional rate which is quite normal for large hotels in big cities, so that was no problem for us - the problem was that we cannot use it because under 6 is not allowed. That should be clear from Agoda when we do the booking (it wasn't). I am not happy with Agoda for not being clear with that information and feel cheated not from Swissotel whose service was great and staff went out of the way to console my child who bawled upon learning she cannot swim there. Upon writing to Agoda with my complaint they showed me the fine print and turned it into my fault. Not a good way to do customer service from Agoda.

Great Hotel”

Swissotel Nankai Osaka Hotel is conveniently located at the center of Namba, the downtown area of south Osaka. It takes only a minute to walk to the subway entrance and from/to the KIX airport, people can easliy use the Nankai railroad. The room is new, spacious (in a Japan standard) and comfortable. The staff is polite and helpful. Everything in the hotel is just great.

Fantastic hotel, fantastic location”

We stayed at connecting rooms (19 - 26 November), which are huge for Japanese standards. Love the full-size bathrooms and the excellent Concierge service. They helped us with bookings and directions and spoke good English. We enjoyed the Food Floor at Takashimaya, which is a few floors down from the hotel. It's a great place for takeaway meals, fresh fruits and souvenirs. We also loved that the hotel is within a short walking distance away from Shinsaibashi, which is a super long shopping streets filled with familiar brands, as well as brands unique to Japan. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely consider Swissotel Nankai Osaka for our next trip to Osaka.

9-day Japan travel”

It was very convenient for us to stay in Swissotel Nankai Osaka Hotel, especially since we arrived in Osaka Kansai airport, where you can take the express train to Namba Nankai station. The staff was very accommodating and it was helpful that we booked our hotel early thru Agoda. There are many restaurants just across the hotel and the shopping districts are also very near.

Lovely Hotel with excellent service”

we recently checked into the swissotel nankai osaka hotel and this hotel is very big (for japanese std), clean and the hotel services were excellent. as my flight was closed to midnight, i requested for late checkout at 2 pm and was granted immediately without further questions asked. i'll defintely stay in the swissotel chain of hotels in my next visit. the price is reasonable if you booked with agoda too. i'm extremely pleased with the stay and so are my kids (12 year old and a 5 year old).

Great Hotel for Osaka, excellent staff service”

Stayed at Swissotel Namba at the end of January 2011. Good points: Room - Room size was excellent. Classic Plus room with 2 single beds and 1 sofa bed was quite comfy. It was myself, my wife and her brother. Room was one of the roomiest in our entire stay in Japan. Service - Concierge staff were great. We needed info on where to go around Osaka as well as some tips on Kyoto and Nara and they were a great help. My bro in law also wanted to know something about an obscure school in Nara and they went out of their way to find him the location. Can't comment on anything else as we didn't use room service or see many other staff. Location - Great location for checking out the shopping and eating districts of Namba. Very close to Doguyasuji (Excellent homewares street), Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori. Value - Got a 20% discount booking through Agoda. I'd say the value was a bit above average given the size of the room, as Japan can be pricey. Not so good: Location - If you have a tourist JR Pass, then this hotel is VERY far from the closest JR station (JR Namba). It requires about a 15 minute walk. It's especially annoying when you have lots of luggage (as we did, coming from the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka) and very hard to find if you aren't familiar with the city. However if you aren't in a hurry, its a great walk with many food and shopping arcades to walk through. If coming by train, my recommendation is to take the subway using the Midosuji line (not included in the JR pass). All up, its a great place to stay if in Osaka.

Great location, impeccable service”

First and foremost i think swissotel nankai osaka is a five star hotel located near the nankai lines connecting to kansai airport so this hotel is very accesible if you need lug around your luggage and very near to shopping area even the hotel is connected to takashimaya mall, subway is very convenient to reach also .the service is top notch , on our last day the bellboy helped is with our luggages and send us off to nankai lines even helping us to buy our tickets. When dining in at club lounge the hotel staff waved the fee for our two visitors because i thought that we can bring two visitors for free. The only thing i dont like with this hotel is it is way overpriced because of its outdated room and so so breakfast compared to other 5 star hotel with this price range.

2 Day Stay at Swissotel Nankai Osaka Hotel”

Overall, very pleasant stay for a two day a trip and the first time in Japan. If I come back to Osaka I will definitely consider the Swissotel Nankai Osaka Hotel again. Mainly due to the great experience I had with the staff and the ease to get around via the transportation system just below the hotel, nice shopping and great restaurants. Great views from the 22nd floor and hopefully the next time the pool will be open. I wasn't able to try any of the hotel restaurants but they did look very nice, so I can only give a 3.

Swissotel - Osaka, Japan”

I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Swissotel in Osaka when I travel with several friends. When I checked into the hotel, there were a few mistakes with the reservation on Swissotel's end, which were immediately taken care of by the hotel staff. Not only did I receive excellent customer service, but they also upgraded the rooms to beautiful and spacious suites, which were extremely appreciated. Our new suites were located on the 16th floor and had an amazing view of Osaka located in the seating area of the room, especially at night with all of the neon lights on the buildings. Our new room also had a separate sleeping area with comfortable beds, a separate vanity area and a bathroom. There was also a complimentary espresso bar, various kinds of tea, chocolate bars and filtered drinking water. The hotel is located in a fun and exciting area of Osaka; there are a great deal of restaurants, bars, cafes, gardens, shopping areas and activities located in the same area as the hotel. Overall, my stay at the Swissotel was terrific and I highly recommend Swissotel.

We had a great time in Osaka and the hotel is located within walking distance from the Namba Train Station and it is very convenient for us to travel and the hotel ia directly connected to the underground shoppping street all the way to Dotomori shopping area. IF Ccome to Osaka we will definitely stay in Swissotel Nankai Osaka Hotel.
