Excellent Experience”

We stayed at Tanjung Rhu for 3 days 2 nights. It was an amazing experience for us. The resort has a private and beautiful beach. We could walk on the sand bar (which you could see on many of the pictures on agoda) at certain times of the day. A very beautiful scenery. Tanjung Rhu has 3 beautiful swimming pools which I love the Sands Pool the most. The room is spacious and clean. The interior is in good condition but the furniture is a little worn out (especially the wardrobe). The other wing of the resort is currently under renovation. We totally in love with the spa service offered by the resort. It is a must-try experience at Tanjung Rhu! It is a little pricey than the outside spa service but the staff there were very friendly and well-trained. The room smells great and facility is very well maintained. Overall experience is fantastic. The journey from the airport to Tanjung Rhu took about half an hour. It is very quiet and out of the city. If you do not want to depend on the airport transfer (which is Rm50..), you may want to rent a car to travel around Langkawi. Overall, it was a very great experience to stay at Tanjung Rhu. All the staff are very friendly and they do remember your name! :) Will definitely go back again!

private resort with highly personalized service”

This resort was well worth the money. The most frequent mention about Tanjung Rhu is that everything here is expensive, which is true. I do believe however, that you get your moneys worth. For example, the boat ride/tour costs about RM440 for 2 people for 3.5 hours. You can get the same thing for half the price from a different provider in a different part of the island. However we got a very personalized experience from a very experienced tour guide. At some point in the bat cave there were other tourists who also stopped to listen to him. Renting a Myvi through the resort set me back RM180 whereas you can get one for RM80 from a different provider. However I was more than willing to pay the extra, and have a guarantee of a vehicle that waits for me at the entrance when I want to go out. The staff were highly attentive to everything we required, and they seem to be genuinely interested in your well being. When I first got to the resort, the soles on my shoes gave way. The hotel staff were kind enough to help me take it into town to get it fixed. All for a grand total of RM10. We loved every part of our stay. The ride ride from the airport, the in-room check in, the consierge who remembers you by name, the proper food, and a private beach that is cleaned every morning. Everything at tanjung rhu met or exceeded our expectation. One thing I feel obligated to point out though, is that we were here during what looked like a low occupancy period. Hence we probably got way better service from the personnel. I'm not sure if this level of personal treatment would be available during peak periods.

Amazing experiences at Tanjung Rhu Resort”

Me, my wife, our 3 kids and the nanny had a very2 wonderful experience when we where staying at Tanjung Rhu resort. They gave us one of the best room (605) we've ever had and the staff were perfectly doing their job very nice. I would like to say thank you personally to Ms. Nurfazwina for giving us a very nice services during our stay at Tanjung Rhu Resort. She greets us when we arrived at the resort lobby when we were still at our car, she bring my wife's bag. Totally a very nice person. The room was amazing, the food for dinner n b'fast were perfect and the local staff were excellent. For sure we will come back and stay at Tanjung Rhu resort again next year. Tanjung Rhu Resort in November”

We (middle-aged couple) went to Tanjung Rhu for a break from the rush of work and life. We stayed a week, expecting to travel around Langkawi, but we found Tanjung Rhu Resort so relaxing and enjoyable that we didn't leave it and its environs all week, except to go on a few of its local organised outings. Picture-book setting, long beach, clean and safe sea, variety of dining, friendly and attentive staff - it all made the week a delight. The Malaysian climate means that nothing looks brand new when its several years old, which Tanjung Rhu is, but the management takes very good care of the place inside and out. Some way from "action" and probably not a good place for families with teenagers. But we'll be back.

A+ Location and Resort”

This resort is secluded beautiful and romantic. The resort is large but blends in well as a tropical hide away lining a stunning long white sand beach. The limestone rocks jutting out adjacent make foe an interesting skyline. One can wade accross to these islands on a low tide accoss the sand spit, it's a fantastic sunset stroll We enjoyed a million dollar sea view room, as many do. The bed was HUGE, the furnishings were lovely. We staff are attentive and friendly. Its a well run and maintained resort. I recieved a reply within 2 days regarding my in room questionaire. This place is really trying to remain a leader in luxary accomodation. We have been travelling for 13 months and couldnt resist blowing the budget to see Tanjung Rhu. I dont regret one single ringit spent! Well done Tanjung Rhu Resort, you've wone our hearts.

Above my expectations”

The reason I chose this hotel was because of its location. I wanted to enjoy the nice views it has and the beach there. Can't afford the Four Seasons. No regrets at all for choosing to stay at the Tanjung Rhu Resort. In fact, I enjoyed my stay there. I booked the Bayu Senja room which is a very big room and most importantly, it faces the sea! The view is breathtaking! Choose this room. Room was very clean as well. I had a very good stay almost excellent. Checking in, all seemed quiet and there seemed like no one was staying there. Half the building was under renovations. We stayed at the renovated side. Somehow, reno seemed to have been discontinued. But who cares. Would you prefer it to noisy and all the renos going on? Being on a holiday to recharge, and all the activities we had the past few days, it was so nice to enjoy the tranquility Tanjung Rhu Resort. It was really quiet and the Sands Pool is clean and gorgeous. Wonderful stay. Staff, they were very friendly!

Beautiful location in Langkawi”

We arrived at Langkawi airport to be greeted by Tanjung Rhu driver, who promptly transferred us to the hotel. We were checked in swiftly (room checkin) and everything was explained clearly about the various restaurants, facilities and possible excursions. The large room was a little worn (the resort is almost 20 years old and rooms are being gradually renovated) but extremely clean and at night the bed was turned down and incense lit for us. The attention to detail by staff is highly commended. The Rhu fine dining restaurant was lovely and reasonably priced, the adult pool bar was also lovely and served nice salads for lunch; it was a spectacular, quiet area for happy hour drinks as it is right on the beach. The Sands restaurant was average, our green curry was not great, however, the breakfast was very nice. The private beach is in a long, wide bay and because there is a children's pool at one end of the resort and adults pool at the other, the beach was always very quiet and peaceful. Overall, we had a lovely vacation (2 days) - I would recommend this to anyone who wants to completely chill out in a very quiet environment. Take plenty of books (there is a very good air-conditioned, glass fronted library directly looking towards the beach if you want extra reading)!

Lovely resort with private beach”

We normally take short beach vacations in Penang, but after hearing rave reviews about the Tanjung Rhu resort, decided to give it a go. The hotel was undergoing renovation works when we were there, though we could hardly hear it. We had the beach-facing rooms and they were huge, with separate lounge areas and balconies on opposite ends facing the beach and the central garden/saltwater pool. The resort had three restaurants, but we gave the fine dining outlet a miss. Nevertheless, the food at the other two were excellent. To top it all was the excellent service from the pleasant and attentive staff. We enjoyed our stay so much that we did not leave the resort at all during our entire stay. Our family seldom agree on anything but on this occasion, we all thought that it was one of the nicest holidays we have had.

Tanjung Rhu is Paradise”

We stayed in the Tanjung Rhu resort in Langkawi twice as it is truly paradise. The all inclusive package (no alcohol) is great as you get remarkable food above all in the Rhu restaurant - which needs to be booked the same day in advance (try the mango flambee, which is made right before your eyes). The 3 pool areas are great, the lagoon pool is great for kids as they can play in the shallow water in the sand and the Sands pool is for adults only which makes it a great spot for couples. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are fab, above all the ocean view, the overall atmosphere of the resort is very peaceful and relaxing.

Tranquility at it's best...”

Tanjung Rhu Resort is near Four Seasons Langkawi, but they are not that similar. However, this facility offers very comfortable and luxurious accommodation at a reasonable price. The nice things about the place is that it's so quiet. There's just a wide open space in a peaceful setting. If you just want to lounge around the water and sand, this is the place. However, their restaurant quality is somewhat middling, and the choice is not varied. I actually went to the next door Four Seasons two nights out of four nights of stay because the food is so much better there, without being too expensive. I would return to Tanjung Rhu if the food was better. Otherwise, go to Four Seasons if you can afford it.

The ideal vacation. ”

This resort exceeded our expectations. It is located on a remote part of the island, right by a beautiful sandy beach of its own, making for an ideal place for a peaceful vacation. The main complex is built around a big pond teeming with fish and surrounded by palm trees. Vegetation is abundant and even wildlife is present within the compounds, with tropical birds flying from tree to tree, squirrels jumping around, elusive iguanas hiding behind bushes, and, unbelievably enough, eagles hovering above it all. The room we got was spacious, very clean and beautifully decorated, and the facilities in general were close to impeccable. The staff are very friendly, well trained, and extra helpful. Half the resort was closed for renovation when we stayed, meaning fewer guests and a huge beach practically for ourselves. One of the three pools is adults-only, an ingenious move much appreciated. We definitely recommend Tanjung Rhu Resort to anyone seeking an ideal time away from the world.

Tanjung Rhu Resort”

The Tanjung Rhu Resort is the ideal place for people who want to get away from it all and have a relaxing break. The resort is rather isolated on the north of the Island but the beach is probably the best on Langkawi. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped however the setee was a little dated and needed replaced. All the staff that we met were very friendly and welcoming and could not do enough for you. We would recommend the full board package as there is nowhere to go outside the resort to eat and therefore you will have to eat and drink in the resort anyway. Overall we had a wonderful week and will definitely go back to Tanjung Rhu Resort.

Tanjung Rhu”

We spent a very relaxing week at Tanjung Rhu resort in November. We had taken the all inclusive package which included all meals, non alcoholic drinks and snacks (even from the minibar). The three restaurants were all very good in their own different ways - the Sands restaurant had various themed nights (Thai, Indian, Malaysian),the Rhu was more formal with some theatrical elements - flambees and caesar salad being prepared from scratch at our table and the Saffron has a deck almost on the beach. Our room was huge with a large bathroom area and two balconies. The decor was a bit jaded and in need of an update but furnishings, TV etc were in good order. We took the Mangrove tour which was well worth the money - a nearly four hour trip through the Mangroves with stops to see monkeys, mudhoppers, sea eagles, a walk through a bat cave and a stop at a fish farm. We were accompanied by a very informative eco-friendly guide (no feeding the monkeys or sea eagles). The three pools were very good and generally very quiet.

Wonderful retreat.”

this was our second stay at tanjung rhu and hopefully not the last. this is a superb facility which has held up well over the years. an additional, very nice pool since we were last there, although we still prefer the older sunset pool. food very good, which is fortunate, since the relatively isolated location (a plus in our view) makes it difficult to eat elsewhere. this is particularly a good choice if you choose not to do much touring and instead just enjoy the resort and its ambience--although the excellent mangrove tours begin just a short distance away. while the price is substantial,we were able to get one of the one night free offers which, on balance makes the facility more affordable. it seems evident that the management really cares about the resort and their customers. for the second time, we were most pleased with tanjung rhu.

Great place”

We enjoyed our holidays at Tanjung Rhu Resort tremendously. I turned 50 during our stay and I could not have dreamed of a better birthday. We had a private barbecue on the beach (very romantic) and the hotel surprised me with flowers in our room, birthday cake after dinner with birthday song and violins, and when we went down after dinner to listen to the resort’s band, Celestial, they also played me a birthday song. Regarding Celestial, we were amazed to find such talented singers performing at the hotel – they totally blew us away. These girls can really sing! All in all a very recommendable resort - nice and friendly staff, good room (best hotel bed we have ever slept in), and a beautiful place.

langkawi's best hotel ever!”

No words can describe our experience at this hotel! Everything was perfect, I wouldn't have it any other way! We have stayed in Bayu Senja, the room with the sea view and the view we got! it was absolutely tranquilizing! The room was super spacious with two sitting areas and two balconies on the opposite sides of the building. We got the sea view and the garden view along with one of Tanjung Rhu's many pools. There were 2 TVs in our room one in the sitting area and one in the bedroom/sitting area 2. Bathroom is absolutely stunning with a separate tub, shower and toilet areas. Amenities were refiled and provided every single day like clockwork. Overall, our room was very pleasant, cozy, bright and very cool. What I liked the most was he little details and small touches. For example, we received a box with chocolates every day at the turn down service with a flower and a timetable of hotel provided activities on and away from the resort. Also the staff would light our candles in the bathroom and bedroom which filled our room with amazing scents! On the beach towel service is impeccable and every 5 minutes or so a waiter would come by with fresh fruits and cold towels, which i thought was an excellent addition to the experience! I will definitely come back! For me Tanjung Rhu complimented Langkawi's calm tranquility perfectly and made our memories unforgettable.

Getaway resort”

We were fetched by the Limo driver named Mr. Hafidz, he is very accommodating and very knowledgeable not only about the hotel but also about Langkawi itself. While on the car he briefed us on what are the things to do and visit. Upon arrival the staffs welcomed us and offered to carry our bags but i refused since we are only backpackers. Check-in was very fast and we were accompanied to our room by one of the managers. The resort is private that you can safely stroll to the beachfront, there are small crabs and a lot of seashells on the shoreline. Food is limited due to you can only eat to the resort's restaurant though the food that we had was awesome. Facilities inside the room are really good, there are a lot of toiletries, there is a welcome fruit and refreshments. Check-out was also very fast, and they also helped us to call for a cab. Awesome experience at tanjung rhu.

Amazing!!!”

First of all I want to start off by saying I am one of those people that will criticise every little thing and make sure I get my money's worth (see my review for Pan Pacific). With that out of the way, my stay at the Tanjung Rhu has been by far one of the best hotels and/or resorts I've ever visited. The staff are super friendly and attentive, not just a few of them, every single one. You get treated like kings (or queens) and they will go out of their way to make your stay memorable, every little request was catered to. The resort itself, the views are spectacular. For 2 days a month (lunar cycle), the sea level is low enough to open a shallow path along the water where you can walk to 3 of the smaller islands. Theres lots of stuff to nearby and if you shop around, you can get a decent price on most activities. The food is a tricky one. They have a good selection of food and drinks, but it's quite overpriced. However, right next to the beach there's local stalls 8-10x cheaper

Perfectly relaxing weekend for all.”

The meet and greet service from the airport was perfect, our room was perfect and even though it was 4 years since our previous stay we were presented with a welcome back cake in our room, we had our 2 year old son with us and all the staff were very curtious & child friendly, The pools )1 x family 1 adults only) were clean and well maintained as was the beach, we dinned in the restaurant for breakfast and supper, the food was exceptional as was the service, I highly recommend Tanjung Rhu resort if you want to chill on the best & quietest beach on the island or by the pool with a great back drop. Various wild life tours can be taken from either the resort or vendors at the end of the beach and Kayaking is great from the resort in-case you get bored.

Tanjung Rhu A Great Place to Relax”

We stayed at Tanjung Rhu for 4 nights. We absolutely love the place. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The service was excellent and the staff made us feel so welcome. Particularly Azahari the concierge manager, always ready to help with any request. The guy is so dedicated, even working when he was sick. You can spend the whole day at the resort as it is so self contained with many activities to keep you and the kids busy. Only thing to note is, if you are planning for a morning tour & want to call for room service. Better call room service early. It can take more than an 1 hour for them to send breakfast. If you are in a hurry, it is better to go directly to the Sands Restaurant for breakfast. We will definitely be back at Tanjung Rhu soon.
