Best dive resort in Manado!”
Manado is an amazing scuba getaway and Tasik Ria is by far the best of the area resorts. This is a diver's focused place to stay, so if you're not there to scuba you should choose another spot, and probably another city. Don't expect hustle and bustle and nearby nightlife, because it's not there. You'll be in a land of your own, dedicated to your relaxation and easy access to some of the best diving in the world. The dive crew is top notch. You won't touch your equipment between or after dives, so no lugging and washing to worry about. The food is varied and tasty, both on land and on boat. The fresh water pool (with in-pool bar!) is a welcome spot to fall in after a full day of visiting underwater Bunaken or Lembeh life. I've been to Tasik Ria twice now, and headed back again next week. While others complain of the cheap, noisy resorts on the mainland or the remote and ill-equipped dive resorts out on Bunaken, I'll be sipping a Bintang on Tasik Ria's jetty reminiscing on the day's dives with my new dive buddies.

I just keep coming back to Tasik Ria”
this is my fourth trip back to tasik ria. i've now stayed in a fairly varied assortment of resorts, in manado, bunaken, and over the hill in lembeh. i just keep referring back to tasik ria as the resort to beat. the beach bungalows in minihasan style are beautiful and spacious, and that fresh water pool with waterside bar is absolutely the best spot to plunge after a long day of diving. and, oh that spa. . . this is purely a scuba diver's haven, as there really is nothing around but manado itself a good 30 minutes away by twisty road. come for the diving, and stay for the relaxation and pampering.

Great Holiday at Tasik Ria Resort”
The pool is great, large and clean. A separate toddler pool available. The Resort has a beautiful Spa and offers various tours not related to diving. The pool view rooms are very good. The staff is very friendly in a casual way which was very refreshing. The staff cares in a genuine way, they know your name and (diving) staff is very flexible to accommodate your "last minute" wishes. The diving and snorkeling is unprecedented even in the rainy season. Manado is not yet polluted by the high end ugly concrete minimalistic shaped hotels or commercial interests. Good for diving but if you plan to buy diving equipment, you better buy in Jakarta. Manado dive shop turned out to be a big disappointment. We did the PADI course and can recommend it. The hotel is located outside the city, taxies are available but allow plenty of time for the taxi to reach the hotel.

A 3 star resort at 5 star prices”
My wife and I spent 6 nights at the Tasik Ria based on the good reviews on Trip Advisor. We are not divers but were visiting Manado for family reasons and thought that staying at the Tasik Ria would provide us an oasis away from the rigors of the daily travelling around the area that we had to do. To make sure we had the best experience we booked an expensive 'sea view' cottage at a price higher than the top city hotels in Manado. When we arrived at the Tasik Ria we were greeted by friendly and helpful reception staff who checked us in swiftly and efficiently. We arrived after dark and were led to our cottage along stone paths with steps where it was so dark that we had to be really careful not to trip and fall. When we arrived at our cottage our feeling was one of total disappointment. It was dark and dingy and in need of renovation. Having travelled extensively around Indonesia and other S.E. Asian countries over the last 25 years, we know that this standard of accommodation is 3 star at best and would expect to pay about one third of the price charged by Tasik Ria. There is a restaurant and bar in the main building providing a la carte meals and an outside restaurant and bar at the end of the 'jetty' providing buffet style meals. However only one restaurant would be open at a time and there was no information given as to which this would be. The a la carte meals were ok, but not the quality that would be expected at the price. The buffet meals were poor and bad value. At 10pm everything closes and you can't even buy a beer. On the positive side, the resort is located in a beautiful location about 45 mins. from central Manado. The 'jetty' restaurant and bar present the possibility for a great restaurant and bar although the potential has not been met. The staff are very friendly and helpful, always with a smile. Summing up, at US$40 per night I would have given a positive review to the Tasik Ria because that is it's worth. But at US$100+ per night, and food/d

Great resort for divers”
Tasik Ria is a very nice resort, where we spent 3 days of our long Indonesia's holidays. It is great point to start discovering underwater North Sulawesi especially Bunaken National Park. Resort staff was really nice and helpfull, food - was good, but we didn't like the choice for breakfasts - need to improve it. In my opinion it is a little overpriced.

Great place for divers and non-divers alike”
A lovely relaxing stay at Tasik Ria. The hospitality of the general manager, Dan, and his staff are what makes this a great place to stay.

Good atmosphere resort”
The resort atmosphere was really relaxing so it is really good if you are for relaxing or diving. but if you want have trip to town better order a taxi one hour or so in advance because it will take time to get there from Manado. but over all the staff was very nice and the room was comfortable.

Great staff and pleasant surroundings”
This is predominantly a dive resort but is very snorkeler-friendly too, and can arrange some interesting trips around the area. Some of the resort (including our room) is in need of a refresh, which is currently ongoing at the resort. The staff are great and the manager is very hands-on and helpful. Contact the hotel before arrival to arrange the free airport pick-up and discuss any other requirements, eg dining arrangements. Most divers are on an all-inclusive package.

a perfect place to refresh your body and mind.”
classic rooms with some traditional carvings. I got a room with a beautiful view of the beach either in the morning, or at sunset. the next morning I enjoy an american-style breakfast at a beachside café with a beautiful view of the island of manadotua. the hotel staff was very friendly and always greeted us, so i feel they already know me very well. this place is perfect for a romantic stay, run from the daily bustle and relaxation while forgetting the stress of work. as soon as possible I will return to stay at this place.

Escape to Manado”
What a treat. This is a scuba diver's VIP resort, not some EVO lodge or backpacker hostel. Top of the line service, attentiveness, spa facilities, and diving outfit. I'm afraid to recommend too strongly because I don't want to every worry about making a booking with the resort sold out!

Beautifull Tropical Garden and Pool”
The place seems to be a bit run down, but has a very well designed and beautifull tropical garden and pool. Food is nothing special, but still OK, but don't expect to much. It is mainly served as a buffet. Spacious room, but bathroom needs refurbishment, shower hardly worked. Next door is an abandoned old resort, which is used as a party location in the evenings and at weekends. That means havy noise of techno music untill 10 pm!

a good sevice”
we stayed for 5 days in this wonderful resort. we had three days of diving (boatdives) and that was great. the afternoon dives were better than the morning dives but i like muckdiving better. the manager dan is a great guy. he used to be a cook in england but married a local woman and stayed in manado. because of his background you can imagine the food is great. most of the times you eat a la carte in the restaurant but sometimes they organise a buffet near the dive bar, wich is great. the days we didn't dive we relaxed at the pool wich is huge and clean. also has a poolbar for snacks and drinks. the small children's pool is cooler than the big swimming pool, so if you need to cool down, take that one. when we were there there were no children, propably becaus the majority of the guests are divers. the beachvilla's are also great. we had nr. 600 wich is the last house on the beach. there's also a third pool wich looks ok but we didn't use it.

Very nice staff and relaxing atmoshere”
We enjoyed the stay at the resort. The pool is quite nice and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We booked a dive to Bunaken and enjoyed it very much. If you primary purpose is diving, then it is probably better to stay closer to the reefs but if you want a mix of relaxation to go along with diving, this is a good choice.

Great dives, lovely staff and spa. Poor food.”
Overall good. Travel to the resort was quite a distance. Def a good spot to dive and very friendly and approachable staff and environment. The food...don't have high expectations. Bring lots of mosquito repellent. No mozzies in the room but the resort surroundings had a lot.

Nice diving center inside the hotel, nice crews. ”
I have a nice experience here. The crew here are very nice. They have a diving center inside. The price is reasonable. The night diving and early bird diving are fantastic. The food is common, but the swimming pool is large and clean. But the mosquito outside the room is annoying. Those who wishes to stay outside preferably should prepare insect repellent in advance.

Must try”
On initially arriving I was a little disappointed as some areas are a little tired. However this is more than made up by the fantastic staff, Daniel Green (The manager) and Diana couldn't have been more helpful. I was often on my own whilst others dived and they really looked after me, and made the holiday one to remember. The pool area and furniture require a bit of TLC nothing more, sunbed cushions renewing, etc. We had family meals on 3 occasions, which were 5 dishes made just for us in the middle of the table (we were 4 adult friends) these were great as was the general buffet, really enjoyed the BBQ night. Electricity cut out a few times but only for minutes. I would recommend this as a nice introductionto Indonesia. You can choose to eat Indonesian style or eat English if you prefer, all is good. All tatses catered for as if they don't have it they will get it. Steve said the diving was fab especially the amount of turtles he saw and the critters. All in all a good holiday diver or non diver, just remember you are in Indonesia not Spain. Thanks once again Diana and Dan

Nice and comfortable resort with friendly staff.”
We had a pleasant stay. Dan, the manager and Andrew attended to our enquiry and needs personally. Even the house-keeping staff attended to our request promptly. Although this is a 3 stars resort, it service standard is definitely beyond 3 stars.

Resorts was a little dated”
The positives - the staff were very hospitable and kind all the way through. Nothing was too difficult for them. The negatives - the location is far out from anything else so we felt a little stranded particularly at night. The resort itself was well maintained but seriously dated and you could see it. There is also a lack of activities aside going out to sea. Felt like we were the only ones on the resort at mid day.

In need of renovation and more competitive pricing”
I stayed for 3 nights in the sea view cottage. The cottage design is rather traditional Indonesian style resembling Balinese. Room is spacious but rather dark, functionality and comfort is low. Room doesn't feel clean, the mattress felt used and tired. The sheets and covers are brown in color not the standard white like any other hotels. This made the room even darker and felt more tired. Bathroom has indoor and outdoor shower area. The cottage I stayed has its bathroom infested with rats. They sneaked in through a hole at the door from the outdoor shower area. The came to eat bar soap and leave droppings around the basin. The basin also does not drain well. Took more than 5 mins for the water to flow down as you will see your tooth paste water and the mouth rinse stagnate. Though they claim to have Wifi but it didn't work for the period of 3 days that I was there. Food was not great, the saving grace is breakfast egg station. Location is far from everything, if you like quiet place the location may suit you. Traffic to and from the airport is bad, the journey took 1+ hour though the linear distant is not far. This resort may be good for divers as it has its own dive centre and fleet of boat. I also booked myself a spa session for massage and facial, it was disappointing. The therapist skills and technic needs much improvement. Lying there for 2.5 hours is almost a torture. The price I paid for the room was 5 stars, the quality of stay I got was barely 3 stars. There were many newer establishment along the same stretch of road so choose wisely.
