A new experience”
Refreshing new hotel room concept in Kuching which was very interesting. The room was rather small but it is fine if you get used to it. It is slightly impractical with the fact that you have to climb over your bed to get to the bathroom. On the other hand, the area feels laid back, quiet and relaxing. But with this, there is nothing much to do so maybe bring a book and maybe some card/board games to play. Also, don't forget mosquito repellent as there is a lot of mosquitoes and bugs around. The beach a little far and it is actually a river mouth so there might be crocs but did not spot any throughout my stay. The breakfast was a very simple one with few types of breakfast foods and fruits. For me, the price was somewhat too high for the very basic facilities provided.

Excellent ”
Defintely recommended for couple. This place is so beautiful and romantic. We stay in the suite cw bathtub, that is really good and relax. Really appreciate The Culvert have done a swan towel cw fresh flowers in room due to our anniversary celebration! There alot of mosquito and bugs in night so I think The curlvert should prepared the mosquito repellent for guest. I and my husband have drive to Mydin to purchase ourself because the resort selling price are not unreasonable. Others than that, all is perfect..

Cool concept”
Overall the stay was good and the concept was very cool. The only issue is the bugs and insects at night especially in the toilet. The toilet does not have a full wall so in the evening it is full of bugs and insects. That does makes it quite uncomfortable and worrying in terms of encountering dangerous insects. I think the management should really look into solving that.

Relaxing and away from the hustle and bustle ”
Great for those who want to be away from civilization But note that being in the nature means you’ll have to deal with the relavant elements - bugs, weather, etc Friendly staff and very clean rooms!!

A great hideaway for relaxing and recharging”
We came to the Culvert for a short transit one-night stay and used it as our base while in Kuching. We were originally told it is far away from the city and would be inconvenient to use as a base. However, we didn’t think it was an inconvinience at all. We spent the day visiting the Cultural Centre that is just 5 minutes away by car and then visited the city at night (which is better given the nicer views with the lighting effects). The Culvert is really basic so visitors must not compare it to a normal hotel. It is more like glamping venue but little more equipped. The normal room has a bed that is immediately by the door. Small bags can be put under the bed while larger ones may have to be put at the small platform in between the toilet and the bed. Yes, there is ensuite toilet, which is great, albeit the small size. So some degree of basic comfort and privacy are met. The breakfast was awesome and delicious. We thought it was very properly prepared and no corners were cut!

Greenery and unique ”
With limited facilities, good for relaxation and not too particular about the beach quality. The swimming pool size is rather small and only comfortable for few adults. Safety and services are good, room design and environment are unique.

Great place for relax. ”
Great place for relax and for those who love quietness. Suitable for couples n those who travel alone. Surround yourself with nature. Lovely place that makes you forget bout your hactic life. The room is a bit small but comfortable. and those who dislike "concrete smell" (like me), bring something (perfume or even mosquitoes repellent) to get rid of the smell. Make sure to bring mosquitoes/insect spray, you'll need it during the night. Bring your own books or tablet for entertainment. Facilities only available til 6pm. Food taste good. Had breakfast and dinner there. Love the tomato mee. Staff are friendly, polite and helpful. Really enjoy my stay there. Will definitely go back.

terrible and horible staff behaviour ”
A very unpleasant stay with bad behaviour of receptionist who claim that check in time is 2pm and all facilities is for in house guest only. We arrived at around 12.30pm thought to hang out around for picture or restaurant for lunch while waiting for check in but the bad behaviour receptionist stopped us and keep said this is a restricted area and we have to wait at outside the gate until 2pm only can go in for check in and enjoy it facilities! Hello?! Besides, It has a small sauna room which can only fit in 2 ppls inside.. 🤨🤨It has a very small pool with only can fit maximum of 6 person which It written at the pool rule.😭 It has only 2 treadmil then it called a gym room? However, there is a pro that I most like it which is this area is completely cigarette free area, therr are not allow to smoke even e-cigarettes! Good Job on this but I saw most of their worker is smoking while working which make me disappoint again.. Finally, Its admin will delete all negative post in Faceboo

Deposit is RM200”
The culvert/staffs should have stated the deposit is RM200 beforehand. People from town are all coming for a nice relaxing staycation close to nature, you can’t expect we bring hundreds of cash in the wallet. Not to mention , they didn’t accept DEBIT card. You’ve asked the visitors to pay RM200 by cash or by credit, but do not accept debit, when there’s clearly a sign on the receptionist desk that they accept CREDIT,DEBIT & AMERICAN EXPRESS. So piece of advice here, get ready ur cash! And beside that, the staffs should heat up the breakfast so that It won’t be cold for those guests that come late for the breakfast & variety of food are not much. Overall, it was an amazing stay. Everything is clean & nice.

Unfriendly cleaner & Overpriced”
Pro(s): Nature ambience Nice & friendly receptionist Underwater sound swimming pool Sunset look out place Con(s): High amount of deposit which is MYR200 Extra small sized of culvert for couple (go for suite instead) you cant barely moved in there Slow wifi Everything closed at 10pm You literally cant go down to the beach because there was a local guy(staff) told us there were 2 crocodiles hanging out there coming from the river nearby The moment I was checking out, before they return my depo money: they will communicate with their fellow cleaners to check out the room first and one of the female cleaner said there was smoke ashes everywhere & it was literally ashes and not even a damage & there was anotger guy talking on the walkie 'shouting: claim! claim! (to deduct from my depo) BE CAREFUL OF THEM (THE CLEANERS NOT THE STAFFS)

Comment & Suggestion for improvements”
Should have mention in the booking website that the in-house guest are required to pay RM200.00 for damage deposit upfront per room. The place is nice for couple but not for family. Don't forget to bring mosquito repellent if you go there.
