Nice ambience and good experience”
Though its very small in size but is just perfect for couple and all they even provided the basic necessities like the toiletries, hair dryer and a tab! I dont really expect much these to be provided in that small sewer, but yes they did! The cons that I encountered during my stay was, we cant use much the facilities on a rainy days as all are in open space, such as the swing and pool. Also i think the hotel should provide more shuttle service to the guest with a reasonable price as its quite hard to find grab service in that area. Overall was good and i would consider to come back.
No visiting allowed makes it much more cooler. But there should be tinted for the door at every room, I was having a hard time to peek outside to see the view because I don't want anyone seeing me freehair in my room. Other than that, everything is spectacular
Love it! ”
Most recommended for love birds who want a privacy n romantic place to stay. D was a bit small that makes u keep close to each other 😁 was stayin’ at suite room n we love the bathroom is so cute and d environment is so calm n beautiful, nice pools n breakfast especially the porridge n all the staff is so friendly and helpful. Much love 💖
Close to nature but limited space”
I really enjoy my stay at here. It offer you calmness and positive vibe. The colour decoration arrangement was so creative catchy and attractive. The design it unique that is why the name is “the culvert”. The place was so good for photo taking and it is clean comfortable and everything os good. But the space was limited ; couples or duo traveller might find it comfortable to stay here.. but for married couple with two to three kids, maybe its not so comfortable for them. As once u enter the room, u need to step on the bed and after the bed ,will be a bathroom. So not much movement inside. Anyway, I love the design and view over there. Good job culvert! (:
Friendly staff and peaceful stay”
The Culvert is suitable for a couple but my suggestion is to book the suite room as it has extra space instead of the regular standard queen room, which is small. My favorite area is the sunset deck which I found the very interesting and cozy area. The swimming pool is small, but they are constructing another pool, which is much bigger than the previous. There is one staff name Eko, from Japan is friendly and very helpful.. not to forget Memey and Celine too. And overall, this is a place's worth to stay. Thank You The Culvert.
A bit far out but... ”
Best part is the water cooler for you to fill up your water bottle. It is super close to the Bukit Putri trail where you can walk up to Santubong summit (instead of going through the main entrance) - but best to get a forest ranger's number, in case of emergency, not sure if the hotel has it. I'd suggest bringing an insect repellant too.
It is a container style room... so do not expect a large room with a lot of facilities. The dont have prayer space for Muslim in the room. U have to pray on ur bed with limited space. Great for weekend gateway & photos but that's all.
clean and refreshing”
This place is cool and refreshing and you will enjoy your holiday from your busy life. The view is so nice and you can just walk to the beach. But the room doesn't expect too much as you're staying in a cylinder. The overall of the stay is 8/10 (minus mosquito and the toilet smell).
Awesome but it could be more awesome if... ”
It's been quite noisy with a bunch of kids next room to us. So what i recommend here is maybe need to restrict the place for 12 years old and above children only. No kettle in the room should have provide one. Hot water in the bathroom kinda not working so well by the mean it's hot for sometime and suddenly became cold water soon after that. Nice bathtub btw👍 Perfect place for a short getaway and chilling. I'll come again anyways despite all of above.
Defintely recommended for couple. This place is so beautiful and romantic. We stay in the suite cw bathtub, that is really good and relax. Really appreciate The Culvert have done a swan towel cw fresh flowers in room due to our anniversary celebration! There alot of mosquito and bugs in night so I think The curlvert should prepared the mosquito repellent for guest. I and my husband have drive to Mydin to purchase ourself because the resort selling price are not unreasonable. Others than that, all is perfect..
Overall the stay was good and the concept was very cool. The only issue is the bugs and insects at night especially in the toilet. The toilet does not have a full wall so in the evening it is full of bugs and insects. That does makes it quite uncomfortable and worrying in terms of encountering dangerous insects. I think the management should really look into solving that.
A great hideaway for relaxing and recharging”
We came to the Culvert for a short transit one-night stay and used it as our base while in Kuching. We were originally told it is far away from the city and would be inconvenient to use as a base. However, we didn’t think it was an inconvinience at all. We spent the day visiting the Cultural Centre that is just 5 minutes away by car and then visited the city at night (which is better given the nicer views with the lighting effects). The Culvert is really basic so visitors must not compare it to a normal hotel. It is more like glamping venue but little more equipped. The normal room has a bed that is immediately by the door. Small bags can be put under the bed while larger ones may have to be put at the small platform in between the toilet and the bed. Yes, there is ensuite toilet, which is great, albeit the small size. So some degree of basic comfort and privacy are met. The breakfast was awesome and delicious. We thought it was very properly prepared and no corners were cut!
Deposit is RM200”
The culvert/staffs should have stated the deposit is RM200 beforehand. People from town are all coming for a nice relaxing staycation close to nature, you can’t expect we bring hundreds of cash in the wallet. Not to mention , they didn’t accept DEBIT card. You’ve asked the visitors to pay RM200 by cash or by credit, but do not accept debit, when there’s clearly a sign on the receptionist desk that they accept CREDIT,DEBIT & AMERICAN EXPRESS. So piece of advice here, get ready ur cash! And beside that, the staffs should heat up the breakfast so that It won’t be cold for those guests that come late for the breakfast & variety of food are not much. Overall, it was an amazing stay. Everything is clean & nice.
Con The resort has creative concept but lack of attention for details. First room I checked in has dirty towel and second room I checked in has dirty bedsheet. Toilet was nice but poorly designed and constructed. Door handles and hooks were broken. Not recommendable for ladies who are afraid of bugs as opening on the top edge of wall invited insects into the toilet. We wasted our time getting rid of them from bathtub and sink before we could shower. You are lucky if shower went smoothly without insects bugging you. As our room is separated from the toilet by a small corridor, the room design did not cater for privacy. Door of main entrance facing the corridor was made of steel with opening gaps that allow outsiders to peep into the room and toilet. Pro Staff were generally nice, we requested for room change and it was done without much hassle. Each room is provided with 2 pairs of comfy rubber slippers and brolly for guest’s convenience. Beach was minutes away.
Very clean. Well managed and frieldly staff. Will definitely be back and recommend to friends and family!
Perfect place to escape fm d mad rush world!”
People all round are very friendly and helpful. Would be great to have TV, small fridge & brighter lightings in d tube thou,.. and more variety in d breakfast spread. Overall experience is great, would recommend to my friends & family anytime 😊!
Interesting accommodation, with beautiful landscaping all around. Great place for a short getaway. However, they should designate a smoking zone on the premise away from the cabins as other guests might not appreciate the smell or cigarettes entering the cabins from the outside. Room doors also have a small gap which water can enter so do not place your belongings near the entrances, maybe hotel management should look into sealing these gaps (would greatly help in reducing smells and sound entering from outside.
Overall a pleasant stay”
Overall the rooms are clean. Basic stuffs are provided. There is room for improvement in terms of wifi. A little bit problem with moving the sliding bathroom door of the normal room I stayed in. Breakfast provided is good. Hopefully more facilities will be provided in the area.
Great! More swimming pool is building zas the swimming pool is small not enough so many. We very enjoy the facilities which provided by the culvert - swimming pool, sauna and running machine. Relaxing. ^.^.
Very good concept of the accommodation. Feeling relax and chill, can stay here for whole day do nothing. Very near to the beach. Very friendly staff that can fulfill all our needs, included transport to convenient shop and cultural village nearby. Very well equipped, such as free laundry service, free Netflix with many movies, free wifi (that can be improved) and picnic bag with swimming towel in it. But still something have to be improved. Bathroom can have more hangers to hang out wet swimsuit/ clothes. A platform at the entrance will be better for us to climb up to the bed. Maybe some storage space to hang our wet clothes or towel after swimming at the entrance, so that we need not to climb on the bed with wet body/ clothes. My lesson from this trip: wear long pants if you are leaving your room during night time. The mosquitoes are fierce.
