Clean, Standard , Reasonable Price , Near to Busstop ”

I would like to highly recommend this hotel if you don't want to spend too much money on hotel and want to stay in the clean and standardized small hotel. The hotel is located in east coast which is a very nice district in Singapore . Very near to east coast beach . For dinning, there are many Vietnamese foods shop around. The price is very reasonable . The staffs are professional. Very clean !!! For public transportation, bus stop is very near to the hotel but far from the MRT . Overall , I like this hotel very much and will choose this hotel if I have to stay in Singapore for the next

I would like to sincerely commend ms. Lucia and anna of fragrance hotel joo chiat. I hope the hotel acknowledges their effort in giving extrs service to us. They were the only ones who was kind enough to give us a smile always, which lightened up our day.. Everything went perfect except for a night that my husband called the reception(chinese talking guy) and asked for salt(first aid since my daughter was in a severe cough throughout the night and couldnt sleep and we couldnt buy any medicine that time.) I was so turned off when he said that this was a "hotel" and not a "restaurant". It was plainly rude. He could have said "we dont have any salt" period! Well, great job to ms lucia (her foreign name) and anna. You too are indeed an asset to fragrance and God bless to that rude guy. May you convert that rudeness to kindness someday. This is hands down the best place in Singapore for affordable stay”

I stayed here for a few nights as a business traveler and it's a great place to walk around for everything from food (all kinds incl halal), grocery shopping, bars, karaoke, MRT station at both ends, bus stops, even a Maybank around the corner near Joo Chiat complex (if you are a Malaysian). It's quiet and the hotel staff were more than helpful.

4 nights in the fragrance hotel ”

Fragrance hotel joo chiat is a decent hotel for solo travellers. The hotel is located on the joo chiat road. The nearest mrt is dakota which is about 1.5 kms and the ideal way to get to the mrt is through smrt buses 16 or 33. On the other hand, only bus 33 will take you to the hotel from dakota. Both the 16/33 buses end their respective stops at budok bus terminal from where you can access the budok mrt. Food is a major concern for vegetarians as the street is predominantly filled with non-vegan food courts barring one Udipi restaurant in ceylon road which again is about a km. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis and the essentials were restored regularly. Only issue with the room being on ground floor and walls not having adequate sound proofing which lead to lots of annoying noises in the night. The receptionist was cooperative and offered exceptional service. Joo chiat has an unusual amalgamation of older + newer Singapore. For vegans, I suggest taking accommodation at farrer park/little india as end of the day food is essential for survival!

Excellent value, amazing staff”

Party of two, stayed at The Fragrance Hotel - Joo Chiat for an overnight layover on our way to Vietnam. Staff were amazing, WiFi was excellent, facilities were outstanding. Comfortable bed, clean and tidy room. A short drive from the airport, excellent value for money.

Good cleanliness and nice staffs”

This hotel also known as The Fragrance Hotel located at Joo Chiat. The staffs were very nice and we were able to check in at 1pm even the description stated there check in time is 3pm onwards. 👍🏼

Quite convenient for a layover”

We stayed there for one night for our 24 hours layover. I wanted to see the old heritage Peranakan houses so we choose the area (Katong/Joo Chiat), and as it happens it was a good place to try a good range of interesting food. Also it was only 15 min from the airport by taxi (a bit under Singaporean $20). So the location was pretty good for that purpose. The hotel was very clean and our room was quite spacious. Nothing really to fault, but it seemed more designed as a business hotel rather than a tourist hotel. For instance, they didn’t really have a local map. Only thing they had was the tiny map on their business card and there was no tourist information. We had not local sim card, so effectively we had no local map for the day. Not that it mattered too much.

Reasonable price but do not expect quality ”

I booked this property for a one-night stay as I wanted to be in the East Coast area, and I trusted the Ibis brand. The location suited me for this quick trip and the Joo Chiat area is excellent for local food and convenience to grocery marts/ 24 hour convenience shops. The room I was given has a large window but the window could not be opened so I can’t get fresh air. The air conditioning stung of old cigarette smoke smell so much so that I had trouble sleeping with my sleep apnea machine. There was no hot water in the shower and basin and I did not make a fuss about this but I did report it to the receptionist. My gut feel is that the receptionist knew that there was no hot water as she did not express her surprise in hearing my report but merely asked me what room it was. Not a normal response if the property has everything working well.

Staff were super friendly! Very helpful! Rooms were squeaky clean! Quiet environment. Spacious for my entire family of five in the triple room. We had to request some extra bedsheet in the week hours as our son threw up and they rendered help with warmth and smile. Thank you for the comfortable stay and excellent service. Best Ibis budget and best family friendly budget hotel by far! Keep it up! We will see you again!

ibis Budget Hotel Joo Chiat is an okay hotel. Whenever I travel with my daughter, I always try to look for “clean” hotels; and this hotel is pretty good on cleanliness. I love the fact that it’s a few minutes away from a bus station. Using google maps, it’s pretty easy to get around Singapore. Being close to multiple bus stops is a huge plus for this hotel! However, with the good comes the bad. The room itself was okay, but it had a few odd things. To start off, there was a door in our room that, when opened, has another door to another room which we found quite odd. This door was also probably the reason we can hear the people from the other room using a hair blower or talking to each other. The wifi is also non-existent. Sure they had wifi, but it was super slow that we never bothered to use it again and use our pocket wifi instead. The staff aren’t very friendly as well; except for the cleaning lady who smiled at us. The receptionist was straight faced and didn’t seem welcoming. All in all, this was an “okay” hotel for the price. The location is good, and the rooms were clean. I just feel like it lacked some things.

Excellent hotel in interesting area”

THe room was very nice, clean with good amenities. Staff friendly and helpful. Joo Chiat is a very interesting area in Singapore, the red light district is VERY tame compared to other cities. Only complaint is inconsiderate tour group couple chatting loudly at 2.30am in corridor!!

The place was good for a short stay or even for longer ones. The hotel is cheap and you will not regret the money that you have paid for. 👌🏻 It was a small room but everything you needed were provided. It's near MRT, but the buses were so limited. The hotel is surrounded by different restaurants and Joo Chiat was such a lovely place. ☺️

The room is clean and not so small. Availability of the Parking lot is up to you luck and 7-11 is nearby. There are many restaurant along joo chiat Rd.

Newly renovated Budget Hotel ”

Newly renovated no-fuzz budget hotel at Joo Chiat (formerly known as Fragrance Hotel). Booking website has yet to update change of name in detail thereby causing a bit of a confusion when trying to locate it. Booked a twin room for a single night's stay for two overseas guests during the Deepavalli weekend. Feedback from them was overall positive. The area had lots of F&B options but a few sleazy bars/pubs too and about 1.5Km or a 20 mins walk from the Paya Lebar MRT station. Many quaint and colorful conservation Peranakan styled houses in the vicinity and the Malay Culture Centre and Village is within walking distance too.

If you are looking for a cheap hotel in Singapore this is something to consider. Regardless of this hotel chain's reputation and seedy places on joo chiat, I think it remains a decent option.

Very good”

I never thought, the location, Joo Chiat is so picturesque. Restaurants are just blocks away. Staff could have more friendly. I left my rosary on the bed and was able to get it back from them. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom would have been perfect if you have provided bidet.

Very good out of 'down town' hotel”

Excellent value, spotlessly clean and in an interesting location. A short MRT ride from all the down town attractions. Good for Singapore traveller on a budget. Authentic area of shop-houses, Peramakan and sea-food. Fraction of Orchard prices.

Could not be better”

Booking a budget hotel in S'pore will always get you a small room - considering the price you pay. BUT: The receptionists are very friendly and helpful, the room incl. bathroom is super clean, comfortable and offers everything you'ld expect from a hotel double the price. 7-Eleven is very close and the stop for bus 33 as well. Would stay definitely again. All in all a clear 10.

A great budget hotel for a short stay in Singapore”

The hotel room is really clean and adequately sized. The housekeeping team did a great job maintaining the cleanliness throughout my stay. Much appreciated. There are tons of eateries for people to eat around the area if you ever go hungry. The hotel is a little far from public transport and the shopping malls, hence I had to walk a little or took a grab during my lazy day. Overall, it was pleasant and I would definitely recommend it to people that are looking for an affordable and comfortable stay in Singapore
