Charming colonial hotel without pretence in an authentic neighborhood”

We stayed for one night only on our first ever trip to Sabah and we found this colonial hotel fabulously located, exceedingly charming, tastefully appointed, and their Front Desk Team highly supportive. We just booked a one-night stay to wrap our next visit to KK in December. Make sure you pick the 2nd floor with the room facing Gaia Street treetops, and be amazed by all the authentic neighborhood action below. The Sunday market is definitely an extra perk, right at your footsteps. Look for endemic fruit sellers (and growers), hunt for curiosities, snap away. Right downstairs is a lively corner bar, a swanky wine shop, and across the road a 24/7 mini mart as well as a highly popular local eatery. A GEM IN KOTA KINABALU.

    Great Hotel ”

We love this hotel, it is so nicely situated, easy to walk around town. Staff are fantastic and rooms are nice and big. Huge bath/shower and big bathroom. Been back many times. Sadly the beds are very hard, and you will be uncomfortable if you don't like a hard bed. For this reason only, we wont return, sadly. Because its a great hotel with good facilities and lovely staff. Such a special atmosphere, beautiful old hotel !

Value for money, centrally located hotel”

The hotel exceeded our expectations. It is reasonably priced, centrally located with some of the most courteous and helpful staff. The room we stayed in was large and had the usual large hotel amenities and the wifi connectivity was very good! Definitely recommend staying here when visiting KK.

    Good”

This hotel lives up to my expectation as an old heritage hotel. It's in the middle of the busier part of town and location is on point. Unfortunately it doesn't have its own parking lot and if you're driving your own vehicle better to stay at other place.

Perfect location for a jesselton stay”

Rooms are old and outdated but the staff is real friendly, helpful and able to book tours for us. Food is everywhere. It was undergoing renovations so there was a bit of noise and didn't look nice in the lobby but it was definitely enjoyable to stay here.

Had a great time here even though it was for 3 days. We stayed in the family suite which was very spacious, bathroom facilities were excellent with bath and separate shower unit. No problem with traffic either and large shopping mall only 10 minutes walk away. If you fancy trying Durian the night market is a short walk but Best Buy and sit there or get ripped off. Have fun and explore.

Great Stay in a Heritage Hotel in Kota Kinabalu”

If you want to experience staying in a hotel with the feel during the British colony era, then Jesselton Hotel is the place for you. It is a small and cosy hotel and surprisingly, extremely clean with wonderful friendly staff. It is conveniently located in the middle of the city with many F & B outlets, convenience stores, banks and malls nearby. Plus point if you stay on Sunday is to get to visit the Gaya Street Sunday market along the whole street in front of the hotel. The down side will be parking space as it is really tough to a spot if you are driving or renting a car especially during working hours. Overall highly recommended to all!

    Honest and helpful hotel staff.”

The hotel staffs are so helpful and honest that they return my uncle's bag untouched after a day at hotel "lost & found" room. My uncle's bag was left at the hotel lobby sofa, totally forgotten until the hotel staff call him. Thank you very much and this hotel is highly recommended.

    Great location, good price ”

Sunday market & night market (on Fridays & Saturdays nights) in front of the hotel but not too close to disturb your sleep. The room is bit too old and a little window. The room has some smell from the old furnitures. Hot water needs to wait for a really long time. But if you are only staying for the night and the location, this is a great place to be.

Improvement to bring back the glory days”

Toilet needs repairing especially the bath tub. Taps needs to be serviced to ensure water wastage can be reduced as a cost saving and green initiatives. Great breakfast concept to reduce food wastage however usage of microwave should be clearly noted so that customers are aware how their food are being prepared or heated. Actual example as I brought a vegan bread to be toasted with specific instruction to be put into an oven yet it was being microwaved. Amazing orange tiles just need some modern technology added to ensure electricity usage can be further managed in an effective manner.

    Value for money”

The location hotel is very strategic and the shops eg: night market, filipino market and other shops are just nearby and walking distance. The room is very nice. We have stayed there for one night. We have requested the honeymoon deco at our room and suprisingly it’s free. Overall the hotel is value for money.

    Great location”

This really cool historic hotel is right in the heart of town, its the first hotel in Kota Kinabalu and Mohamed Ali stayed here years ago. Its really charming and the place to stay on the weekend as the Sunday Market is literally right outside the front door. There is a great little supermarket walking distance from the hotel and a nearby mall too. The hotel uses British style plugs (as does the entire country) so make sure you have a converter- the nearby 7-11 does not. Otherwise, great hotel, I'd definitely stay here again

    Great Location, great price”

We booked 2 double room for 2 couples travelling together. My sister in-law and her husband was upgraded to the presidential suite with a bathroom big enough to play hide and seek in. Our room across the hall in level 3 is very roomy. Great location, very central. If you are after a great wine, there is a Cellar store at the end of Gaya St, on the left of the hotel. Across the road to the Cellar store is a stairway that will lead you to the highest outlook of KK, if you brave enough to walk through a shanty village.
