Perfect Piece of Paradise”
Loved everything from the wonderful staff, gorgeous views/location, very clean and beautiful room with relaxing balcony to the unique restaurant with delicious fare. We loved having our morning coffee and breakfast on the balcony overlooking the ocean and either enjoying the sunset with a cocktail on our balcony or at the restaurant on the beach downstairs. Been many times and will continue to return.

Beach, Location, great views”
Enjoyed my 3 day stay here after a week long cruise. Able to relax, enjoy the beach, some appetizers, and walk around the area. Staff was helpful and room was clean and roomy.

No better place to be in Waikiki”
I hesitate to recommend this hotel because it feels like such a great secret. A few years ago, this was owned by a Japanese company and had very basic furnishings. It is clear it has changed ownership and is getting a facelift - so I look forward to seeing how it evolves. One thing that hasn’t changed though is the value proposition. Don’t expect a super fancy room, but you are going to get some of the best views for the money (particularly if you get an ocean view room) with a very large balcony. This hotel is on Kaimana beach, which is separated from the main drag of Waikiki by a park. It’s a 15 minute walk to the heart of Waikiki yet the hotel feels quiet and secluded. It’s right on the beach, too. You can just walk right out and it’s never too crowded. The bar and restaurant, Hau Tree, is very good - they have done a great job updating the menu. The restaurant is on a lanai right on the beach. It’s beautiful. I never plan to stay anywhere else in Honolulu.

Great experience in The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel”
It's in walking distance to Waikiki and shopping area, but the hotel is located in a quiet area. It enjoys a beach just outside of the cafe and a large park on the other side. Also very close to Diamond Head. if want to be at Waikiki or the large outlet faster, Uber and city buses are also convenient. The beach is very isolated from the crowded Waikiki beach area so you can enjoy quiet beach time. The rooms seem to be re-decorated lately. Quality of the in-room furnitures and the bathroom are also at satisfactory level. On top of that, the staff of the hotel is really friendly and helpful.

Hidden treasure”
Having lived in Honolulu for over 14 years, we were aware of this "hidden" treasure for years. My family has stayed there since we moved from Oahu 20 years ago so we have a very long history. The hotel isn't fancy but the rooms are lovely, with many of the rooms overlooking the ocean and Waikiki. The staff......they have been there for 10-20- 30 years because, according to one long time employee, it is such a wonderful place to work. The Aloha spirit - incredible - sincere. The location - the best at the foot of beautiful Diamond Head, next to Kapiolani Park - oceanfront. It's quiet, the restaurant is phenomenal - food is outstanding.

Not a luxury hotel but good hotel for the cost. Simple and clean. ”
Price was good in the location was good if you don't want to be right in the middle of the action. It is a nice simple clean hotel without all the luxuries of the more expensive hotels.

Great location!”
Great location on the quiet side of Waikiki, adjacent to Kapiolani Park. Quiet beach, restaurant right next to the beach. Down side was that there was not much in near walking distance, but it was well worth it to be away from the crowds of main Waikiki.

Had everything we needed”
Was just positioned a little too far from central. If good walkers this won’t be a problem. We took cab which was easy enough. Lovely staff and fabulous for the beach

Location off Waikiki Beach. Nothing else stands out. A solid choice. Would return next time to Oahu.

Excellent”
Nice room ( small) but great as a place to call our anchor as we traveled and drove all over the island. Restaurant food was very good and wait staff was excellent! (Mike). Great location. Park across the street at the public parking and save on the garage fee.

Good value”
I was able to get a large beach front room with a great value for a reasonable price compared to other places. The hotel is not the most modern, but it is a great bang for the buck. Not too far of a walk to Waikiki. It's nice if you like quiet. The staff was pretty good.

Room needs renovation”
Our room suffered from two things. The major problem was that the room was so small that the far side of the bed was directly against the wall. There was no room for the person sleeping on that side to put ANYTHING--watch, book, tissues, phone. Aside from that, the decor was dated and clearly used. Staff reported that new management will take over next year. It will be interesting to see what changes they make. We really like the people there, the beachside restaurant, and the location including the beach and the park.

Basic hotel”
There are positive and negative considerations. I stayed here 25 years ago and decided to stay again this September 2019 based on my recollection of its location and value. It’s about a half mile to closest cafe as it is located away from central Waikiki. Parking is $35/day. The rooms are very small. An update is long overdue. There is a nice outdoor patio for every room.

Quiet location, good service.”
I gave three stars because I had to ask for coffee maker, cord screw, glasses for the room. There is no facility. Location and service were great.

New Otani Review”
After an overnight flight from New Zealand we arrived early (11 am) at the New Otani. We walked into reception to be greeted with a plastic sheet around the restaurant, scaffolding, hammering and drilling. Very disappointing and no warning. The receptionist greeted us with, “you are too early, come back at 1.30 pm”. We asked if there was anywhere to leave our cases, to be to be told, “you can leave them there” which was in the middle of reception. We asked if there was anywhere to have a drink and were directed to a beach cafe (about a 15 minute walk). Off we went with our hand luggage as we didn’t want to risk leaving with no security. We returned at 1.30 to be told the room still wasn’t ready and we weren’t due to book in until 3 pm. We do appreciate this but to sit in reception listening to builders was not a good first impression. We were surprised to be asked to pay $17 for every day of our stay for resort fees when we left. This covered WiFi and beach towels?
