Loved the Tongsai Bay!”

amazing staff, fantastic location in gorgeous private bay.
beach is not soft sand.

We spent a long weekend at the Tongsai Bay and did not want to leave. It was an amazing, completely relaxing and wonderful weekend, and we would highly recommend this hotel. The best thing about the Tongsai Bay is the staff. We have traveled quite a bit in Asia, and without question the staff at the Tongsai Bay were the nicest, warmest and most helpful of any place we have been. Every single person we encountered was genuinely friendly and wanted to help with any of our needs. In many southeast asian hotels, the staff are all smiles but completely clueless and basically useless. Not so at the Tongsai Bay! The staff all speak English and are exceptionally well trained. From the front desk, to the restaurant, to the room staff, to the pool and beach guys, the staff made our stay truly memorable. The second best thing about the Tongsai Bay is its location. Being situated on a private bay is priceless. No one is trying to sell you anything on the beach, the whole place is very private, quiet and relaxing. The views are amazing. We only had a beach front suite, not one of the more luxurious cottages or villas. But both our room and our view were wonderful. The room was very large as was the balcony. The bath tub on the balcony was definitely fun. We really appreciated the personal extra touches, like treats left in the room at turndown, the fact that unlimited drinking water is provided, the fact that non-motorized water sports are free (they will even give you free sailing and windsurfing lessons). We also liked the common room with pool table and very large selection of DVDs to borrow and watch in your room. The internet cafe provides free internet. After staying at so many hotels where you feel as if they're doing their best to rip you off by charging you for every single small thing, the Tongsai Bay was so refreshing. We only left the hotel once during our long weekend stay, to go to Bophut for dinner. The rest of the time, we just did not want

Amazing honeymoon hotel, beautiful beach views!”

Great views, very attentive and friendly staff, fantastic buffet breakfasts

We spent an amazing 5 days at Tongsai Bay hotel. The staff were excellent, very friendly and attentive. We were upgraded to a beach view cottage with privacy, that wasn't too far up the hill - perfect location. We sunbathed on the wonderful balcony area every day and barely needed to leave our cottage at all during our stay - only when we ventured out for food! The breakfasts are superb - anything you could possibly want - there's a fresh fruit station where a lady will make up smoothies for you, made to order omelettes etc, full English breakfasts, pancakes and waffles made to order, as well as Asian cuisines. Lots of freshly baked pastries also. We tried the thai restaurant one evening which was lovely, and on one of the nights they did a beach bbq - free drinks for an hour, and then a buffet bbq afterwards that was fantastic - lots of choices of foods. There is a small village nearby (Choeng Mon) which we were able to walk to - its about a 20 min walk each way. We also got a cab down one evening for 150 baht each way. It has several restaurants and a few grocery and beach type shops, and on a Wednesday night it has a street market which was quite nice to see - we picked up a few bits to take home. We stayed in the 3rd week of was quite windy on several days, and there was the very occasional rain shower in the day. We could still sunbathe further back on our balcony though when raining, it was still warm. I'd hugely recommend Tongsai Bay to anyone who wants relaxation, peace & quiet, and appreciates good service. It's not an ultra modern hotel like a lot of 5 star hotels, but that really isn't a negative in this location - the hotel is designed to perfectly suit the setting. If you are after fancy toiletries and remote control blinds, then it's probably not for you (we had that when we stopped in Singapore on the way), but if you can appreciate the natural beauty of a more boutique hotel, then go for Tongsai Bay, you won't regret it.

AMAZING Resort - best service, location, and food”

Everything was incredible. Everyone from the front desk to the waiters at the restaurtants were tripping over you to give you whatever you wanted. You even were given a little red flag next to your beach chair that you could wave at anytime to put in your drink order!
Absolutely none.

The beach was gorgeous. There were not too many people at the resort (didn't feel crowded) even though we came at the peak season of Christmas time. The water was a great temperature and the pool was a good size if you didn't want to go in the ocean on your own private beach (a rare find on Samui). The gardens surrounding the property make it feel like a paradise all your own and the cottages are spacious and have beautiful views of the ocean crashing on the rocks below. The staff is exceedingly friendly, they best of met in Thailand - and I live here! The food was excellent - a bit pricey for Thai food but the same that you would find for western food in Bangkok, which isn't bad since you're on an island. The drinks were well made and there was a large selection of tropical fruity drinks if you wanted something more special than a gin and tonic. We had a beach barbecue night that was just to die for, including fire dancers! And if it rains? No problem... there are DVDs that you can borrow FOR FREE and FREE internet - go figure! Why can't every resort be so accommodating? And the fact that the Tongsai Bay isn't a chain makes all the difference - you could pay $1000 a night for the same room at the Centara resort that is on the EXACT same bay but only without a private beach, but you won't get the same service and special little touches such as: pool boys fixing your towel on your chair for you, bringing you drinks on the beach with the wave of a flag, fresh made juice from any fruit made to order at breakfast, free DVD borrowing and internet, super clean bathrooms even on the beach, cold towels brought to you on the beach midday, and absolutely gorgeous Christmas decorations if you are going during the holidays. I NEVER write reviews, but I've been on every continent except Antarctica and I live in Thailand now and have been to many resorts ... but I absolutely cannot stop raving about the superior quality of the Tongsai Bay Resort. By far the best resort!

Secluded luxurious hotel great for couples.
The hotel is on a private beach which means that to eat outside of the hotel you need to catch a taxi. Samui taxi drivers refuse to use the meter and trips out of the hotel can be quite expensive and leave a sour taste in your mouth.

Tongsai Bay is a perfect hotel for couples looking for a luxurious romantic getaway. We stayed in a Beachfront Suite which is the lowest class of room. Our room was enormous with bedroom, living area and a bathroom that was bigger than the entire room that we had at the Amari Palm Beach Resort in Chaweng (where we stayed earlier in our trip). Our balcony had a great view out across the pool to the beach and the sea. It had two sun beds, a table and chairs and a bath where you can relax staring out across the bay. I recommend requesting a room on the top floor as the sun beams onto these balconies allowing you to sunbathe on your balcony in the morning. The swimming pool is enormous and the beach boys regularly bring you iced water (much needed in Samui's searing heat). The hotel is set on its own private beach but is close enough to the other beaches to make it easy to get out in the evenings (provided you don't mind bargaining with Samui's immoral taxi drivers to get home). The restaurant on the beach (Floyd's) serves up amazing food all day long at reasonable prices and is a very nice romantic restaurant in the evenings. There are two other restaurants but we didn't try them. The Grand Villas are absolutely incredible (we asked to see one out of nosiness) - they have the best views in the resort and have private infinity pools, enormous terraces with outdoor bed and bathtub. I will definitely be returning to the Tongsai Bay Resort.

Beautiful hotel with natural reservoir ”

Nature, superb service staff & nice restaurant

We had requested for an early check- in during our reservation. We reached Tongsai Bay at half past twelve. Normal check in time for Tongsai is 2pm. The guest service staff had told us that the room that we going to stay still not available as previous guests had late check out and they trying their best to clean/tidy the room. We waited until 220pm yet the room still not ready. Leisa, General Manager of the tongsai bay had noticed us and gave us a complimentary dinner with a bottle of house wine voucher, what a surprise for us. We didn't aspect Tongsai gave us such reparation for keeping us to wait. How sweet and attentive they are! We had travelled a lot and this is the first time we received voucher due to late check in for guests! Not to mention that, all the staffs in tongsai including gardener will greet u whenever passby them. So attentive! What impressed us is how Tongsai reserved nature by not using any pesticides or chemicals fertilizers used to maintain their grounds. Po-lad bistro & bars is a must to dine in when you stay here. They had wonderful dinner menu & wine for your selection! Worth to mention is the restaurant located beside beach where you can dine under moonlight! How romantic is that! Me and my husband had a wonderful experience in eco friendly yet luxury hotel! Definitely go back again for Tongsai!

An extraordinary experience of exclusivity ”

Nature like paradise, unike junior suite, the best service

We did not now this island, and was booking the trip only one week ahead. We had to push our budget because not many options left. Tongsay Bay Hotel only 5 star with not ridiculous price level, bit still expensive. We saw a good review and decided to try one night, even when price exceeded 2.5 times our budget. After one night of pleasure of all reasonable dimensions we tried to leave for the next place......but not possible! We were in love! Here we are again.... enjoying with water sports... coo clothes served on beach.... electric car pick up to reception.... room fixed twice a day and I could keep on all day! Wile writing this, we just had another fantastic place at this beautiful resort, and we will definitely stay here as long as we are on this Island! Definitely the most price worthy budget burst I ever did! And no, I will not regret! I gladly work one month overtime to recover economically :)) Truly! Highly recommended.

Fantastic Hotel with Tranquility”

Althought its our first time in Koh Samui, we have very high expectation for our hotel in this type of resort. We are seeking a hotel with tranquility and peace throughout our stay, Tongsai Bay is exactly the perfect hotel! Hotel is clean, staff is very friendly and helpful, snacks and bottle water always get replanished, even our transport is very well arranged. Except food, not much selection, and mosquito, everything else is very well within our expectation. We will definatey visit again and highly recommended to our friends and family.

Absolute Paradise!”

Private beach. Great food at ffloyd's restaurant. The friendly, helpful staff. Respect for surrounding wildlife. Beautiful accommodation. It's all good!
Not really any cons. You are very close to nature here. when you walk around the resort at night there is a bit of scurrying around your feet - lizards etc. which can be a bit of a shock at the start. But you do get used to this and actually learn to enjoy looking for the little critters!

We stayed at Tongsai Bay for our honeymoon March 08 and LOVED every minute of it! We got upgraded to a hillside cottage on arrival, and were given a bottle of champagne on our first night. The accommodation is very secluded. The cottage had an outdoor bath which overlooked the sea. Everything was very clean. fresh flower petals were put on the bed every day. The food at FFloyd's restaurant was fantastic! and not too pricey considering this is a resort. There are 2 other restaurants which are more expensive, for special occasions, but Ffloyd's food is so good with a nice atmosphere why pay more? You can get a taxi to Bo Phut for a few bhat if you want to go to a shop, restaurant or look around the fishing village. Diving tours also go from Bo Phut. There is free use of kayak and free windsurfing lessons on the private beach. There is no jet-skiing near the private beach. This is a very eco-friendly resort. Fresh towels, water and shade are all provided my the beach staff who are very efficient. Definitely recommended for a romantic break, but there were also families enjoying the Tongsai Bay when we stayed there. There is a great pool for kids which is always supervised. Look around on a few websites for deals.

Barefoot luxury at its best”

If you ever wanted to feel like living in nature, a castaway on a remote beautiful island in your very own luxury villa pool suite , then look no further than Tongsai Bay. Having travelled for many years I am very hard to please yet The Tongsai Bay never disappoints. This is my first visit to The Tongsai Bay properties and I am blown away. The service is professional yet relaxed, it is unpretentious and it is very intuitive. You will not need to ask for a thing when you are there because they have thought of everything already. The Tongsai Bay is not about just staying at resorts, its about the Thainess experience. You can do and explore to your heart’s content or relax in one of the many chilled out places set within nature. It is so peaceful and calming and far removed from the urban jungle. The food is outstanding and the menu is extensive. The luxurious villas sit harmoniously in with the natural landscape and they are a castaway's dream.

Absolutely perfect”

Everything (although this depends on what you want)
Nothing (although this depends on what you want)

We had an absolutely perfect experience for our honeymoon in a wonderfully private seafront cottage. The Tongsai bay was truly a memorable place. You are so close to nature, with many species of plants, lizards, birds so close, yet many luxuries are at your fingertips. The decoration, architecture, furnishings were high quality and evidence of good taste. No glitz or bling here, all understated elegance and in harmony with nature. The beach is not super soft sand and the water gets deep quick and there are waves... But we actually liked the beach and having a private beach on Samui is priceless. You can hire a kayak for free and check out other beaches nearby. If it's rainy, you can hire a DVD or play pool in the common room but you'll probably be having a bath on your private patio. That was simply fabulous! Service is excellent. Food options are plentiful and actually really good. And try the spa!

the best hotel in the world!”

unbelievable service, view, rooms, features, pools, beach, food, etc.

we stayed in may for 7 nights. it was heaven. after taking a look at the available rooms we chose a private suite beachfront. we recommend you ask to see available options before you take a room, since there are differences, even if you pre-paid for a certain type (we prepaid about per night, but added baht per night due to upgrading we made. was worth any baht!). in one word the hotel is perfect. there is an amazing view, service you can't immagine, free water-sports, three restaurants, two pools, excellent beach, evening activities, taxi service in fair prices, etc. our vaccation was perfect thanks to our stay in this hotel (the tongsai bay). highly recommended!! we travelled the world and never seen this class of hotel, including a couple of luxurious hotels in thailand islands.

Relax, relax, relax”

Room, food, pool

We loved our stay at the Tongsai Bay resort. A great place to relax and enjoy Koh Samui if you like resort life. Each evening had a nice activity. Only drawback was having to use a taxi to get to outside dining or shopping (cost about 800 baht, approx 24 USD for a round trip to the Fisherman's Village).

Exceptional in every way”

Perfect location; Great facilities; Friendly staff

Tongsai Bay exceeded all expectations. As a place to escape from the crowds it is perfect. 25 acres of beautiful gardens and a private beach with a strong focus on environmental protection. Staff without exception were friendly and helpful. If you love nature and want to get away from the tourist crowds there is no better place. The cottages are very well appointed and give great privacy with stunning views. So much care has been put into planning and maintaining Tongsai Bay. What a credit to the owners and staff working there. I cannot think of even the smallest criticism 10/10!!!

Secluded yet in the heart of Samui ”

Welcoming staff, beautiful beach, superb location

We were a group of five people and although this was one of the quieter resorts in Samui, we still had a fantastic time. From an excellent selection of restaurants, spacious villa-type rooms to the most hospitable staff, everything about our stay was just perfect. Not to forget our secluded private beach where scrubbing your body with the gravel like sand was pleasantly invigorating. We thoroughly enjoyed the Tongsai Bay and no doubt we will definitely return.

Unbelievable vacation paradise ”

I was here to celebrate my most special 60th birthday. My daughter and son in law flew from London, my younger daughter was here from Leeds and my friends flew in from India. What a perfect holiday it was. Everyone loved the place, were pampered by the hotel staff and we enjoyed every moment we have spent here. At the reception smiling and helpful staff especially May, Guitar, Fern and Tian stole our hearts with their hospitality. Chef Kak and Chef Pasuk can surprise you with their innovation and the ever smiling Fruit Lady Khun Pu will floor you with her lip smacking drinks mix made out of fruits. The cleanliness , the promptness of the staff is something possibly makes Tongsai Bay an icon brand. You must spoil yourself with their spa treatment once, it is worth every penny you spend. Overall a great experience , my daughters have already decided to be here every year in December.

Absolutely perfect. Words can't describe the beauty. An absolute must go in koh samui”

I picked this place as the "sit on a beach" portion of our trip. I wish it was the only place I booked in Thailand for our two weeks, absolutely stunning. Immediately upon arrival you realize that you are in a special place, they greet you with essential oil ice towel and a very refreshing cold tea. The concierge takes you to your room (we had a seafront cottage) and shows you all of the amenities in the room. The view off the cottage was amazing, could have stayed right there. The beach front restaurant has incredible Thai and American food. One of the best burgers and tom yum soup I had all trip. The included breakfast was AMAZING everything you could ever want, best lattes and cappuccinos I had all trip. The big difference to me were the employees. Everywhere else in Thailand people are friendly but seems to have their own agenda. Wanting to sell you something. In tongsai bay, I genuinely felt welcomed and they were very happy to see us every morning. Best resort stay of my life.

Tongsai Bay Honeymoon”

Great service, great food, beautiful grounds, beautiful beach
it's difficult to find anything negative about the Tongsai Bay

My wife and I stayed at The Tongsai Bay for 7 days of our 2 week honeymoon in December 2009. It was by far the highlight of the entire trip. We appreciated the service and treatment we received from arrival to departure. The food at the restaurants was delicious and very good quality. We were sad to leave :-( We appreciated that the resort was a bit off the beaten track... It was quiet and private, which happened to be just what we were looking for. Bo Phut was just a short drive away and we got to visit there a few times. We had many nice conversations and experiences with the resort staff at all levels, from room maids to management all were pleasant. I would recommend the Tongsai Bay to anyone planning a trip to Thailand.

It's paradise !!! ”

The villa, The sea and the view

Our family spent 2 nights at the Tongsai Bay Hotel. Also had dinner at "Chef Chom" Great meal and good atmostphere ! We stayed in the Grand Villa, which was very spacious. The day bed and the outdoor bath on the balcony overlooked the sea and the view was great. Kids had much fun in bathtub. The hotel had its own private beach, it's never crowded. The restaurant near the beach was very good too. Overall...It's paradise !

Very nice private resort”

- Overall design and feel of the resort: clearly a lot of time went into the plan of the place and it really is special and appealing. You can really notice this even farther away, say from Choeng Mon beach next door. - Excellent staff and again obvious that they are well trained and follow high standards - Reasonable pricing in consideration of high quality - Nice balance between a local design that captures Thai highlights while still providing international standard service - Ocean view suites that have wonderful views of the sea on a gorgeous bay yet without having to walk forever to get to the beach
- Private nature of resort can leave it feeling a little claustrophobic too, would be a stretch to stay here for more than several days unless you really want to stay secluded - Beach is natural and beautiful but sand is not too soft and beach itself not very long

Overall we had a great stay at Tongsai and I would happily go back. In hindsight I am very happy with our decision to start our stay here for two nights and then move on to try Sala resort just down the way - both great choices and nicely complimentary in terms of experience. Pros and cons pretty much sum up my impressions: Tongsai Bay is clearly a well-run place with a lot of character and very evident how much thought has gone into the details. Biggest drawback is also its strength: privacy and seclusion. It attracts a mix of families and folks seem to tend to a bit more middle-aged; this is not the place to go if you are looking for the singles scene for sure but we certainly were happy there as a couple.
