Fantastic location in a great beach”

I had a beach front suite with a fantastic view of the beach from inside the room or on the verandah. Can’t fault the views. The room and bathroom were both spacious and clean. The bed was a bit hard and bouncy but I still managed to sleep well. The breakfast is a bit ordinary but certainly enough to fill you up for the day. I booked in for 2 nights but now staying 6 - maybe even longer. I would definitely recommend Southern Lanta Resort to fellow travellers. Definitely value for money.

A lovely beach retreat”

We stayed here for 4 nights and tbh we would have loved to stay longer. We had a beach hut with a sea view, the huts were typical Thai with all the amenities needed. The vibe was chilled and relaxing but also had bars along the beach with bands in so to fit all tastes. The breakfast was again mainstream with the usual eggs, salad and Thai Breakfast. We ate lunch in the restaurant and would have liked to have an evening meal there as there was a good selection but with so many places to eat along the beach and along the main road we didn't manage to get round to it.

Staff was very helpful. Internet was pretty good but they had a two device login limit, which made our two phones and two laptops competitors. Never really figured out how to get a phone logged out to use laptop, but staff gave me a workaround which probably only would work in low season with adjacent vacancies. Breakfasts were good, due to off season low occupancy, not all offerings were available. Decent number of restaurants near location.

Great location”

Our rooms were a bit old and we had a lot of mosquitos but they luckily provided nets. So we were ok at night . The ac didn’t work properly. We usually don’t use the ac at home but as it was stuffy and hot in the room, we needed it. Took forever to cool down. But we were in the older huts. The others didn’t have any issues. Price/quality very good , location was great. Right by the nicest beach, lots of good restaurants nearby. We mostly hung out at the black coral as they had good western style food (easier with kids), although the Southern Lanta had great Thai food. The morning glory was excellent. Communication was good, people friendly and they were good at organizing our trips. We had a great stay and would come back again

Nice budget alternative resort.”

Nice hotel with ordinary bungalows. Nice pool for children. Excellent location by the beach. Ok gym, if you are a bit creative. Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is a bit greedy though. Only wifi for 1 device, 200 baht for an extra device per week. 15 baht extra for a slice of cheese at breakfast. 50 baht per day for using the gym. Managed to get rid of the gym cost. But hey, there was no fees for using the swimmingpool. ;)

Fantastic quite hotel”

We loved our stay here. It was an excellent place to relax. It's very family oriented so don't look for any parties to be close by. But if you want a nice clean place to stay with a fantactic beach and excellent staff then you should stay here. The only draw back is that wifi costs a lot. For the amount of money you spend per night I would expect it to be free.

Amazing place to be”

Just close to the beach and with 2 pools in this hotel. Lot of rerstaurants, massage on the beach. You have a choice for enjoy and relaxing. Accomodations are like an individual home, so cute and with fan and cleaning all morning. Just perfect staff and the personel very nice, smiling and propose at you a lot of things. They are at the reception the booking for excursions. If I come back to Koh Lanta, Im come back at Southern lanta Resort. :)

Big resort”

We stayed here 4 nights (in Superior beach view}it was ok but not more, resort feels a Little bit boring, small breakfast and ofcource no bacon, and everything closing 22:00. But many place on the beach closing 22:00 thats to early. Best resturant we find was Golden Bay Cottage.

strange but acceptable ”

very large resort with many long term Swedish guests(who are very nice) who enroll their kids at the Swedish school next door. the fair concrete bungalows we adequate with nice foliage around. not the hotels fault but a bad case of hand foot and mouth was going around and it didn't help the infected people were still partaking in the inedible breakfast buffet. avoid the food in the restaurant at all costs . there are great restaurants on the main street. try the guava popsicle its fantastic.

Very family friendly beach and resort”

We had a really good experience. Excellent value for money (except the laundry service - charged per item so gets very expensive if you have kids!) great breakfast, good sized bungalow, nice and clean pool and close to the beach. Friendly staff. Pretty much only Swedes seem to stay here. The restaurant was quite 'pricey' (in Thai-terms) and the food pretty bland but there are lots of restaurants to choose from if you take a stroll along the beach. Would recommend this place and this beach for families with small kids as almost all restaurants have toys and tables on the sand and the beach is very shallow. If you're after partying or staying up late, look elsewhere!

Relaxing days at the beach”

If you want to spend a few relaxed days on the beach under the tropical sun, having a spa, a fitness centre and a restaurant in your hotel without spending too much money then the Southern Lanta resort is the place to go. The staff is friendly, the huts are functional with aircon, fridge, safe deposit box and individual veranda and the location is directly on the large, wide, soft sandy beach. Its busy without being crowded. A lot of restaurants available in walking distance. The breakfast lacks a bit variety.

Booked 3 Nights stayed 6”

We got there in Low Season, which is very very low. Somedays we were the only two guests in this very big hotel. It was supercheap 900 Baht/Night in High Season this is of course more expensive. During Low Season the sea is wavy and there are very little jellyfish (too little to see), but we had no problems at all. I'd recommend Southern Lanta Resort to Backpackers during Low Season (Price), or Families during High Season

Nice if your not too fussy”

The pool looked dirty so never went in it, we asked to change rooms after our first night as the air con was rubbish but second room was great! The restaurant food is amazing. We hired a bike from reception,staff very good language skills and helpful

Really nice resort.”

Welcome to little Sweden, we loved it and our three year old was in heaven. Nice playable beach but no paradise. The town is in walking distance and a lot of restaurants and small shops are around. We started a hunt after Lantas best cappuchino and actually found one here on the resort that was pretty ok. The kitchen is really fast and serve good food just a little more expensive than around the block. Good luck!

Great hotel on a lovely island”

This is the place for a lovely,quiet stay.The bungalows are large,clean and well maintained.The breakfast is fine for western food,90 per cent Swedish customers.The beauty of the place is the beach,fine clean sand and clear,safe sea.We extended our stay by 4 nights,it cost 300 baht more than the original Agoda price but you get what you pay for.If you travel from Phuket the ferry is great at 1500 baht with an open end return date.

Great bungalows and friendly service”

spacious bungalow for a couple, nice gardens and great location close to the beach. friendly service from all the southern lanta staff and hearty breakfast. other guests were mainly families but ok for couple as well.

Best place on Koh Lanta”

We loved staying at this hotel! We were travelling with our 14 months old baby and everything was perfect. The staff was so friendly and helpfull. The hotel is right on a nice, long and child friendly beach. Lovely sunsets! Close by are some good food stalls and restaurants. We highly recommend this resort to everyone, families with our without children! If we ever return to Koh Lanta we would surely stay here again.

Lovely bungalow ”

We went to this hotel out of season, the staff were excellent ok breakfast but hotel was very quiet as it was low season. I have visited this hotel in high season and the hotel was wonderful but not advisable to go in low season

Great location!”

When we arrived, it turned out that they had booked us in a twin room which certainly wasn't what we wanted. After we argued for a while, they agreed to switch the beds (rather than rooms!) for a double bed. There were no problems with the stay, the rooms were clean and good sized, albeit there were quite a few mosquitoes who snuck into our room! Great location on the beach and right in the middle of restaurants and bars on either side of the resort. A side note to couples, this is definitely a family resort!
