Amazing location, friendly staff, great value”

The Tropical Resort far exceeded our expectations for the price we paid. When we arrived the resort looked so pretty and welcoming and the location was away from the main restaurant/shopping strip of Pantai Cenang, however still within walking distance. The rooms were simple but clean and a good size and there was a fridge. Each of our rooms also had a fan and airconditioner. The hotel fulfilled our special request of beach facing rooms and we had adjoining rooms to our friends we were travelling with. Most of the time it felt like our own private resort as there were only two other rooms past our rooms relative to the entrance/reception area. Each couple was given a set of breakfast vouchers on arrival for each morning of our stay and breakfast went til 11am which was great. In addition to eggs of your choice cooked to order, we were able to have unlimited strong coffee, juice, toast, fruit, cheese, cake and either fried rice or noodles. The breakfast area was also very pretty and we were served by a friendly staff member each day. The hotel had just opened a traditional Malay restaurant on-site and we were shocked to find that the most expensive meal was 8MYR (less than 3 Australian dollars!). The food was delicious and amongst the most traditional we tried. No alcohol is served at the restaurant however delicious fresh juices more than made up for that. There are also plenty of other great restaurants and bars within walking distance, both in the Pantai Cenang area and the other direction. Including a French patisserie and creperie! There was also a fantastic and very cheap laksa/soup street vendor set up across the road on some of the days we were there. My partner and friend visited multiple times. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Tropical Resort to anyone looking for a relaxed, friendly, convenient beach hotel in Langkawi without the fuss and price tag of a fancy resort. We left feeling very satisfied and relaxed and it really made our holiday.

Best resort in Langkawi!”

We had about 10 days in Langkawi, so after having explored the entire island we can surely say that Tropical Resort at Tengah beach is the best choice for a family holiday;) Not as crowded as Pantai Cenang, Tengah beach is perfect for swimming - clean white sand and transparent peaceful water is just in a minute walk from the room via a wild garden-sort-of-a-thing) All the shops, cafes, offices are right next door as well, so you do not feel alienated like you may feel at Tanjung Rhu or Tengorak)) You are in the middle of everything, and yet - it looks like a beautifule private beach! The resort is pretty much at the sea, just surrounded by the trees which makes it even better. The 24-hour-open pool is a real gem, especially after an eventful day;) The breakfasts are a buffet wich is great compared to the other hotels we stayed at, there are always fresh fruits, some european and oriental options, not enough vegetarian dishes unfortunately and not enough veggies in general, but I noticed this trend all over Malaysia not just in this resort. The rooms have all we needed, they were cleaned every day (towels are changed whenever requested), and the staff was very-very helpful to us, many thanks! The shower was great, there were complimentary toilettries, a fridge with 3 bottles of water every day, and a marvellous terrace with a pool view;) I can't really explain it with the words, when you stay there yourself you'll feel that the vibes are really amazing there, so laid back and friendly; the people staying there are lovely too; all in all we really wanted to stay in this tropical paradise forever)))

Ideal for a peaceful stay”

The perfect place if you want some peace and quiet, close to a long sandy empty beach, with a good selection of restaurants within a 10 minute walk. We loved it here! We came by ferry from Ko Lipe and got a taxi from Telaga Harbour in the north of Langkawi down to Tropical Resort (about 30 mins). The airport is only 10 minutes from Tropical Resort by taxi. Some rooms face the swimming pool and others face away on the beachside. We had one of the latter and were delighted with it. There were a couple of chairs and a table outside each room and also a few sunbeds so you didn't have to go round to the pool for a sunbathe. It was a 3 minute walk down the track from the hotel to the beach (Pantai Tengah), ideal for strolls. Lots of signs warning about jellyfish but that might be at certain times of the year. The room was great, very spacious, effective a/c, a fridge, daily water bottles and a large modern bathroom. Would definitely stay here again.

The pictures from other travellers do the Tropical Resort Langkawi justice - the rooms are just as nice as they appear in the photos as well as the pool. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly which made my stay very pleasant. The location is wonderful with the beach a 2 minute walk from behind the resort and a duty free shop right across the street. There are also a few restaurants and a spa right beside as well. I loved the hotel so much that I booked it for my next stay in Langkawi for my birthday while I was staying there. I would highly recommend to stay here for anyone who does not wish to stay on Pantai Cenang.

Value for money resort close to city center. Beautiful resort with helpful staff.”

Had a great stay at Tropical Resort Langkawi. The property is beautiful and serene, less than a kilometre from the bustling Pantai Cenang. Rooms have all the basic fixtures and no frills. Pool is small and cute and well maintained. You can walk for 5 minutes to reach a beautiful and less crowded part beach. My wife and I stayed there along with and two more friends.. also a couple. Both our rooms were clean and maintained. The staff was courteous and helpful. On short notice, they arranged for a private boat ride in the mangroves at a cheap price. Breakfast is served at an adjoining restaurant. Quality of food was good, although not exceptional. Overall, the resort provides real value for money. I would definitely recommend it to all travelers, solo, couple or a gang of friends.

Great Place to Stay!!”

Tropical Resort is definitely above average in terms of quality, cleanliness & value for money! Located about halfway down (& 50m from) the beautiful & quiet Pantai Tengah. The owner Shukri speaks excellent English and is friendly & helpful with good recommendations or advice on things to do / places to eat / rent mopeds / book boat trips etc. The rooms are basic, but clean, spacious & well furnished. (Air con. & ceiling fan, fridge, tv, plenty of furniture, large bathroom with hot shower & nice little balcony with chairs.) Kettle & mugs available on request. The atmosphere around the hotel is calm & peaceful - gardens & walkways are tidy, pretty & well kept - Everything looks exactly like the photo's. All in all, good place to stay - away from the hustle & bustle - but conveniently located with everything within an easy 5 - 10 min (European paced) walk.....

Perfection after 4 days hotel hopping!”

After 4 days trying 3 different budget chalets and rooms with dissapointment, I was nervous just by thinking of how dissapointed we will be if our last day vacation in Langkawi might turn out to be a disaster..... BUT Tropical Resort saved our holiday! Money being spent for the last 4 days with regret :'( ... Paying almost d same for all the places. Please choose wisely guys, RM10-20 different will make a lot of difference! Greeted by Mr. Shukri made us felt welcome already! We booked for twin standard but seeing us as a couple he willingly upgraded our room to double deluxe with no extra charge and THAT IS HOW PEOPLE ARE DOING BUSINESS! Its not like other places who gave us the worst room ever for first timer guest. We will absolutely won't be going there ever again! The worst ever is Charlie Motel @ Corrie Chalet. Our room at Tropical Resort was perfect. Aircond, tv, fridge, bed, decoration, big mirror, cupboard, side table, resting area at balcony, bathroom with glass door, water heater is all in great condition. Too bad we have only one day left at Langkawi. Close to Cenang beach and other tourist attraction. Will absolutely consider for a second trip.

A very peaceful and relaxing getaway”

Had a wonderful 3-day stay at Tropical Resort, Langkawi. What I liked most is the location of the hotel. Quiet and tranquil. However, Pantai Cenang stretch which is where all the shops and restaurants are, is just a short walking distance away (less than 10 minutes on foot). The beach is a total bliss. Hardly any crowd. Unfortunately there are no beach lounge chairs. Would certainly come back.

Fantastic, definitely recommend! ”

Myself and a friend stayed here for one week. We absolutely loved Tropical resort. It was located very close to the beach, and there are some lovely gardens right in front of the rooms. Its a fairly quiet area which was perfect for us, but if you go walking for a few minutes you'll soon be in the bustle of Pentai Cenang which is much busier. The rooms are very clean, and basic. The bathroom is essentially a wet room but it's fine for the purpose of showering etc. The room had ac and a fan. There was a tv which had about 3 terrestrial channels. The reception offer a service to lock away any valuables like passports etc as the rooms themselves do not have a safe. I would definitely recommend tropical resort to other people, especially if you're looking for value for money. It's catered towards families, couples, groups, and backpackers. There's Wi-Fi in the reception and breakfast area but not in the rooms so you'll have to go sit there if you need the internet, but we didn't find this a problem. Another big plus is that the staff are all very helpful and friendly. They'll go out of their way to help you. For what I paid, I think I got a fantastic deal.

Great location!”

It was a fantastic location, very close to the beach. Initially we wanted to book at XXX resort but there were no vacancy during our period of stay. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised that XXX is just next to Tropical Resort - and we paid only a fraction of the price. The rooms are basic but most importantly it's very clean and well kept. We were able to access free wifi from our room. There are two sets of computers at the lobby area and usage is free! This came in handy when I had some work emergencies. The environment is beautiful and serene, overall we give two thumbs up! Will recommend to anyone making a trip to Langkawi.

Amazing ”

Our stay at Tropical resort was amazing. Staff were very friendly and accommodative. Cleanliness was outstanding. Main cenang road was 5 min walk from the resort. We rented a car from the airport which gave us more ease in terms of travelling within langkawi. We have plenty of options in terms of local and western resturants close by. If you want to visit places / major attractions and explore langkawi at your own it is highly recommended that you should rent a car. We will definitely stay again in Tropical resort.

Perfect stay in Langkawi”

After going all round Langkawi, I can honestly say that this is the best value for money you could have. 5-10 minutes walk to Pantai Cenang, where you find all the restaurants and shops, but without the noise that comes with it. Rent a scooter and go explore the island. The rooms of the Tropical Resort have been recently renovated, everything is sparkling. Breakfast is not amazing, but they offer a decent variety. Would definitely stay here again.

Leafy, Near the Beach and Quiet”

A hidden gem! A short walk to the beach through beautiful forest full of birds (including the Pied Hornbill). Pleasant, clean pool. Friendly staff, excellent restaurant, great breakfast. Take one of the rear, beach-facing rooms (though the beach isn't really isn't visible) which are supremely peaceful. Still centrally located at Pantai Tengah with several restaurants close by, but quiet with a green and leafy outlook. Only a 5 min walk to all the noisy action up at Pantai Cenang. We've been coming to Langkawi for some years, and this is one of the best hotels we've found. Highly recommended.

Absolutely wonderful”

I can not describe how much myself and family enjoyed staying with Mimi and her staff at the Tropical Resort. The location is superb, the rooms are exactly what you need for a holiday, the value for money will not be beaten in this area. But most of all, it is the staff. Each and every person working at the resort are warm, friendly, genuine and hearty people. They are all polite and will go out of their way to offer any help if you should need. Seriously, don't look any further, this place is just what you need. Thank you Mimi and crew for having myself and my dear family. One of the best in Pantai Tengah”

Had a memorable and beautiful stay in in our 1st visit to Langkawi. The rooms were just perfect and the environment was peaceful with very good staff and services. The location was a bit far from cenang beach but it's a boon as the beach in Pantai Tengah was even better which was just 100 m walk behind the hotel. The food was tasty. Thanks a lot to the management and Agoda for making our stay lively.

Excellent location, great value for money”

Excellent place to stay on Langkawi - literally a two minute walk from the beach at Pantai Tengah and only a 15 minute stroll round the corner to the 'main' beach and shopping area at Centah. the pool area was lovely. room was reasonably basic but exactly as advertised - actually had more than I expected for the price with a fridge and TV in the room. Breakfast was included in the rate we had and was ample for the morning - cereal, fruit and toast on buffet plus eggs cooked fresh to order. All the staff we dealt with were very helpful. Would def stay again.

Fabulous hotel with friendly owners”

wonderful hotel close to the beach behind a beautiful garden. the rooms are basic, but very clean and in good conditions. my room was to the beach side which was perfect. the owners are very friendly and helped me with all my questions about sightseeing and tours around the island. you've got free w-lan access at the reception area. the hotel is located at the pantai tengah beach which is beautiful and quiet and not that crowed as you can find it on the pantai chenang beach. you've got a variety of good restaurants and bars close to the hotel, but the best one was for me the 'oasis' directly at the pantai tengah beach. you can walk along the beach from the hotel to the restaurant/bar that offers indian or western food and really good fresh juices. you've got a marvelous view of the beach and can enjoy the fantastic sunset and the food.

We had a fantastic two week stay! The staff couldn't be more helpful and lovely, breakfast was beautiful and the pool was a great place to relax and cool down. The room was perfect for us with everything we needed. We will definitely be staying at Tropical Resort when we next visit Langkawi. Location, Location, Location”

Our stay at the Tropical Resort Langkawi was just fabulous. All guests have their own chalet, & you can opt for pool side or what we called jungle side. There are so many food outlets it's difficult to choose, & none of them are expensive. If you want to do a bit of bird watching, it really is the place to be. We shall return there without a doubt. That part of the beach is not crowded & it's only a 3 minute walk! A real gem of a place.

Great little hotel and great value in Tengah”

I would thoroughly recommend this lovely little hotel. It is not fancy but it is very comfortable with a lovely pool and in a great location in Tengah and only a short walk to the beach which is far less crowded than Cenang. There are many choices of restaurants, cafes and bars within walking distance as well as a spa next door, liquor store across the road and minimart just up the road. We will definitely return to Tropical next time we come to Langkawi - it is by far the best value for money.
