Unique artistic surroundings with impeccable customer service”
This hotel is nestled in one of the more popular areas of Canggu very near the beach. Decorated with museum quality artworks and artifacts of various origins and centuries, the Tugu Bali Hotel will amaze and inspire you during your stay. The staff are exceptionally helpful and are willing to meet all your needs. The rooms are impeccably clean and tended to several times a day. The restaurant provides a varied and delicious menu of local and foreign dishes. Travellers with allergies or limited diets can make requests for substitutions without hassle or fuss. This was my favourite hotel in Indonesia. Ask for a tour by the Assistant Manager, Ari, who had worked at the hotel for about 20 years. The stories and knowledge he shares about the privately collected items on the property will surprise you. Jenny, the Manager, is approachable and very friendly as well. Be sure to book one of the suites with your own private pool. This hotel is one of a kind and made me feel like a queen!!

Amazing modern hotel with authentic Balinese touch”
Everything about our stay at Tugu Bali was wonderful. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and filled with Balinese/Indonesian artwork and artifacts. When we first arrived, we were greeted with fresh drinks and a Balinese floral arrangement. We were also invited to schedule a complimentary 15-min welcome/relaxation massage, which we were easily able to schedule for that very afternoon. THe massage was administered in an open-air space (still sheltered for privacy) and we could hear the crashing waves of the ocean while the massage helped wipe away our fatigue from the long plane ride from the US. Our room was spacious, clean, and lovely - comfortable bed, beautiful bath tub, ocean view, and again, interesting artwork on the walls. The common spaces are all beautiful and relaxing, and if you want, you can take dinner just about anywhere in the hotel (just need to request) or even on the beach - although the main restaurant area was lovely enough for us. The pool is also really great - freshwater so that you don't end up smelling like chlorine for the whole day, and just lovely to sit beside. The food at the hotel was also quite good, although a little bit expensive compared to eating at many of the restaurants/cafes or warungs nearby or in Seminyak. We liked the location, but it is somewhat quiet - if you want to be in the middle of a lot of things going on, then this hotel would not be for you. Canggu is much more quiet compared to Seminyak, but if you want to go to Seminyak for nightlife, then Tugu offers a ride into town, and then it is very easy to get a taxi back to the hotel. All in all, a wonderful stay and a really beautiful and uniquely Balinese experience with truly all of the modern amenities one could want.

Amazing - Tugu Hotel is a destination in itself!”
The Tugu Bali Hotel was more than I could have imagined. The room was absolutely beautiful with all kinds of treats. The hotel and its grounds are wonderful, with a nice pool, poolside area, several spots where you can sit and enjoy the view, and a fantastic lobby/breakfast area. The staff was friendly, helpful, and genuine. The only drawback is Canggu itself, which has become a bit of a surfer haven with some noise beach clubs. However, with earplugs, it's not problem, and the hotel is worth the only occasional noise. You don't even need to leave the hotel to have a wonderful holiday! Highly, highly recommended.

Amazingly designed hotel. Paradise within paradise. ”
Tugu Bali is much more than a hotel. It's a living museum of amazingly designed premises and rooms. The staff are extremely friendly and quick to meet any needs. Indonesian food at the hotel restaurant was amazing (Didn't try the Japanese restaurant), rooms are very spacious and beautiful, pool was nice, cooking class was fun, antique shop was great. The hotel is less than 100m from the beach, with good beachside drinking and eating options. Canggu area is very nice and cozier and less crowded than Seminyak and Kuta, with many nice restaurants just a short walk from the hotel. Highly, highly recommended for a relaxing and amazing 5 star+ experience in natural Balinese and Indonesian style.

An Amazing Start to a Holiday”
I have stayed in many top end hotels across the world from London, New York, Paris and many more. With out a doubt the Tugu Bali rates with the best. I work long hours at home and rarely get a summer holiday so its very important for me and my partner that every thing is right. From the min we arrived I felt relaxed and at ease. The staff are beyond exceptional, their welcome and how they deal with guests is done with the utmost professionalism. Management should be very proud of their team here. Breakfast is to die for literally, never had any thing like it before. Staff also were very kind to give us breakfast on the go the morning we departed as we left at 6am. The room we had was an ocean view suite, very spacious, had some amazing sleeps and they have a cool bath tub. TV has loads of channels with movies etc all FOC and in English to. There are only I think 12 or so suites in the hotel, so its nice and quiet and you basically have the place to your self. Essential for good down time. The have their own Japanese restaurant in the hotel, food here is also amazing. A little pricey but worth the value and great views from the third floor. It is located right beside the beach and there are also some great bars, shops and restaurants located beside the hotel. If you intend going on any trips to see some of the cool beaches or temples, leave early I mean early 6/7am and come back late maybe 10pm as the traffic from 8am onwards is crazy. A normal 50min trip took us over 2 hrs. Cant wait to come back again.

Hotel Tugu - Excellent ”
We have travelled to Bali in excess of 10 x..and this was our second stay at Tugu. Alas, Canggu has grown beyond a sleepy surf spot. Hotel Tugu still remains one of the best ‘rustic and historical’ venues, with highly efficient and friendly staff., and facilities that are unrivaled across Asia. Though, the surrounding location no longer provides a laid back getaway. The adjacent monstrousity Aston hotel , is an eye sore, with multiple bar venues pumping out techno music well into the night. It now seems Tugu feels lost in a sea of rampant commercialization .

Relaxing and pampered stay”
First of all - thanks to all the staff of Tugu Hotel Bali. From receptionist to the watchmen - everybody made our stay special. We felt the passion in serving us and to please our wishes. It seems to be a great team and team work. Even arriving in the morning at 4 A.M. we felt pampered from the first moment when the driver picked us up at the airport. There are no limitations for breakfast times nor any service limitations at all. The staff provides a truly 24 hour service. The setting of the hotel site is done with great taste and skilled sense for antiques. Everything is very well maintained. We appreciated to choose each evening another venue for our dinner in the beautiful compound. From beach site to the 400 year old Chinese temple, every dinner remains in special memory and not only due to the location. The food is excellent and extraordinary. Each single dish has a style of flavour on its own and also a huge variety of tastes within itself. We truly found our "Bali home", an oasis in this turbulent world and we will return one day

just awesome”
from the moment we were dropped off outside til the moment we had to farewell we loved every minute of hotel tugu. The entrance is spectacular and we were greeted with a drink of our choice on arrival. Check in was a breeze and we were even introduced to the manager who offered a guided tour of the hotel as it also doubles as a museum. We paid a bit extra to stay in a villa or as they call it 'the pavillion' . It was massive. It was just perfect. We had our own pool and our own dining gazebo on our own lotus pond. Every meal here ( which were well priced with a huge menu ) was unreal . Some of the best food we have ever had . Drinks were a bit pricey but there are some small outlets just a two minute walk away . The surfing beach is on the doorstep where tugu have their own grassed area where you can order food and drink to be delivered to your sun bed. Overall it was fantastic and would definitely come back.

Great food and special room, average beach”
we stayed at tugu for 2 nights as part of our 2 week honeymoon in bali. although the rooms are lovely and the food was excellent i am glad we stayed elsewhere for the majority of our honeymoon. the beach facilities provided by the hotel were not great with no shower or toilet and no complimentary refreshments. overall there is not the air of exclusivity and privacy that we received elsewhere. we strongly recommend the private dining experience as that did make our trip to tugu worthwhile but it is costly

My favorite hotel ever! ”
We absolutely loved this hotel! Luxury without being commercialized. It was a splurge for us but worth every penny! We stayed in a Dedari Suite and it was amazing- huge, comfortable, beautifully decorated, full of charm, and the bathroom- what a dream! Outdoor shower/bath with fish swimming in a koi pond! The private plunge pool/private patio was great! The location of the hotel can't be beat- one of the few actually on the beach in Canggu. We were able to walk out our door and surf at 2 great breaks (Old Man's and Batu Balong). The staff and service were top notch- anything you wanted and more! Special thank you to Putu, who went above and beyond to ensure our happiness. Next time I am in Bali I will definitely stay here again!

Authentic Indonesian Experience”
An amazing tranquil sanctuary just off the increasingly busy Canggu strip. Really unique to be able to seek out out a quiet corner of this amazing hotel and grounds and be served a meal by the Tugu staff. The rooftop at sunset is the best location in Canggu for drinks followed by seriously good Japanese food. The “anytime anywhere” promise of an all day breakfast is a real treat. 5 stars with a difference!!

Amazing location, stellar staff, beautiful accommodation, loud nights”
Loved our time at Tugu. It’s dead center in Canggu, feet from the beach and the beach bars, 10 minute walk to tons of hip shops and restaurants. The villa was awesome, with a private koi pond and outdoor shower with constant incense burning. The kind of service where they clean your room each time you leave. The only flag is that due to its location it’s feet from a huge club that blares music until 1:30am. The bass can be heard through out the property. If you’re a light sleeper would make sure you can sleep with ear plugs. But this wasn’t enough to ruin our otherwise lovely experience and will highly recommend.

Great hotel at a poor beach”
Tugu Bali is a real treat, though a bit overpriced. The food is lovely, though not as good as Bambu or Merah Putih in Seminyak), the pool is refreshing, the open space of the lounge/restaurant is special and authentic. Service is personal and impeccable. However, Canggu is not a place for beach lovers (which we fortunately are not),but seems to be great for surfers. Only negative point was the absence of the complimentary transport at the airport. We would come back.

Everything we expected”
The Tugu Bali hotel met all of our expectations. It's a small boutique resort with traditional Balinese rooms and villas. Perfect for someone who’s looking for an authentic Balinese living experience, probably not so if you prefer sleek contemporary hotel. The hotel restaurant provides excellent food with beautiful views. The hotel service, especially the concierge service, is very professional and sincere.

Old World Charm”
This was my first time to Canggu. Tugu Hotel was beautiful old world with large rooms that over looked the ocean. There is a limited amount of rooms and the staff are fantastic. The only down side is that it is close to a few night clubs and can be very noisy 1-2 nights per week.

Beautiful boutique hotel in Canggu”
A great option if you are looking for something original, different from your standard luxury hotel but still very comfortable and with truly excellent service. As advertised the hotel itself is like a museum containing balinese and javanese artefacts; this makes a pleasant and interesting visit in itself, for which the hotel staff can guide you through. The ambience created by the tasteful decoration and the effort to hide everything modern is very relaxing. The suite we had was very large and well decorated, with a massive bath, daybed, separate shower room, etc. The hotel has got a patch of private beach outside, which is well tended and pleasant enough, however the beach is a bit narrow and there are a few big rocks sticking out of the water, probably not really kids-friendly. Another downside maybe is the location in Canggu; nothing is at walking distance, wherever you go you will need to use a taxi (or a motorbike). The hotel can arrange a free drop-off in Seminyak on request, when their car is available. I found the hotel staff remarkably friendly and helpful, which is not rare in Bali, but this place stands out in my opinion. Overall, a great place for a romantic weekend with a cultural twist.

Balinese Dream - History, Beach and Fun”
Tugu is a portal into the past with a modern twist. I loved the warm welcome by the Hotel Manager - Jenny who made it a point to ensure I was welcomed, settled and happy. Breakfast is a shear delight - anytime you wake up - they will serve - anywhere on the property. Wonderful start to a great day. The hotel is intimate 25 rooms, the staff are incredible and the art, antiques and history are pure bliss. The only slight draw back is that across the road there are clubs and the music pounds well into the night. I personally did not have an issue with this as I am a sleeper, however, if you are a light sleeper this could be an issue. II had a wonderful spa treatment which involved an evening therapy and a final incense blessing and cleanse - all was great but the pounding beat of the bars across the way defeated the purpose. If you can live with a bit of music - you will find this place to be a bit of traditional Balinese heaven. Enjoy.

We spend lots of time travelling in Asia.”
Tugu is excellent, we will make it our base in Bali. Have stayed at lots of places there during the years, but Tugu is exceptional, better than double6 and Oberoi for atmosphere and beautiful, comfortable beds.

Fantastic Hotel, Great Staff”
Staff are excellent. All speak excellent english and are very attentive an helpful. They assisted in suggestions for what to do, where to eat etc. Hotel doesn't have an official 'restaurant' as such, you pretty much eat wherever you want which is interesting. We on only had one full night there sadly so only did the beach BBQ but it was well worth it. Food was excellent. Setting on the beach with the lighting and wooden masks was good. The hotel is jam packed with art and artifacts form Bali, China and other places. Like a museum, really nice and atmospheric. We had a tour of the hotel and saw all room types. Being a fan wood I actually think the Rejang suites are better that the rest but all personal preference. The top/premier/presidential suite was on a whole other level though. Not cheap by Bali standards but you quickly see and realise why you are paying the premium.

Charming and traditional ”
Built in the 1930's this is an elegant and traditional hotel with a lot of history. Some rooms have been modernised and have lovely private pools. We also stayed in one of the upper level rooms which I doubt has changed much over the years, quite nostalgic. The rooms and the beds are spacious and some have semi outside bathrooms. Our bath was by a fishpond with carp and gardens surrounding it, but still very private. There are various dining areas, all exquisite in decor and excellent food. Breakfast on the rooftop affords fabulous views of Canggu beach. There is only one caution, a local nightclub occasionally plays very loud music until 3 am. This is so upsetting for the hotel, who have had no support from the local authorities. It's very unfair, but thankfully only occasionally on a Friday night. Otherwise it was very tranquil, relaxing and peaceful and I highly recommend it.
