Very friendly staff, clean rooms, green garden...”

My stay was very lovely, starting from the kind hotel manager and his assistant who looked after me, the ladies at the restaurant who cooked very well and the whole experience took place at the Vesali resort which lies in the middle of a wonderful green garden. The only disadvantage if one could call it so is that the generator for the entire city can be heard in the far distance so it is advisable that you bring earplugs (advisable for all of Myanmar anyhow...). In 2015, however, the city will be connected to power supply in Sittwe - at which time the generator will not have to be used any longer. I will definitely return to Vesali resort on a further visit to wonderful Mrauk U.

An oasis”

We arrived very late at Vesali - after 12.30pm due to a late flight arrival. This meant the tide was against us and a gruelling 7.5 hour journey by boat in the dark ensued. Gruelling for the boatmen particularly. When we finally arrived in Vesali, 3 staff were waiting for us to assist with our luggage and show us to our room - I was impressed - as I half expected to have to search around for someone. From go to woe, nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed cycling to the temples in the morning which was arranged by Nyi . In the afternoon we would come back for some relaxation on the balcony before heading off again for a sunset ride. Our room was one of the older ones but it was large and we were quite comfortable. I imagine the newer ones have better bathrooms but it seemed a small matter. Mrauk-U has several hotels but Vesali would be my pick. We cycled down towards the jetty to the 5 star Princess Resort for wifi/drinks as there is no wifi at Vesali. Nyi was the only staff member with workable English - he was able to handle everything.

The best, most helpful staff, great location.”

This place is awesome. Located slightly out of town but still close to everything as Mrauk u is relatively small in size. The main front desk man named Nyi Nyi spoke great English, was super nice, and also worked as a tour guide and was more than helpful answering any questions we had about the temples or Mrauk u itself. When I came down with a sickness, he went out of the way going to the market for me to pick me up medication to help, all without asking or anything. This man deserves a medal.

Restful Oasis in the Myanmar Countryside”

My boyfriend and I loved it here! The property has a beautiful orchid garden in the front with tropical fruit trees and trails to hilltop pagodas with a view of all Mrauk U. Their food is fantastic, and they also have a cocktail menu. One of the staff, Nyi Nyi, speaks excellent English and loves to practice on visitors. He'll show you around town if he has time. Everyone was very attentive to our needs and the rooms were spacious, each with its own porch out front.

Lovely staff and Food”

We had a great stay in a clean bungalow with mosquito net and a fan. Warm water and daily room refresh. Breakfast and dinner were rich and delicious und the staff was just adorably nice and helping! Warmly recommended stay for a trip to Mrauk U. You absolutely have to meet Jojoe!

Nice helpful people, good value, clean - but rooms need high watt lightbulbs”

Not many choices in Mrauk, this was a nice stay in a good location. Breakfast food was acceptable didn't try the other meals. Rooms were clean and charming BUT really dark inside. All the light bulbs are the lowest wattage imaginable. If you expect to read or have to pack in the evening or early morning it is really hard.

Quiet retreat with great kitchen”

Vesali was enjoyable and the people were great but they were not full, possibly because there are other newer and nicer hotels in town for less money. A bit overpriced.

Quiet location ”

It's pretty basic, cute cottages. I really enjoyed the deck, plenty hot water. The weather was cool enough that I did not need aircon just opened the windows . Nice to listen to the Crickets at night .Turn down service at night where they spread the mosquito net. The staff was friendly and some spoke decent English one of the staff member is also a licensed guide and spoke excellent English. The restaurant was quite good and the cocktails better. Room service offered as well. I liked the location, it is on the outskirts of town which made it quiet and peaceful. Rented bicycle for 3000k a day and the staff picked it up for me and returned it.

An advisable place, indeed.”

Very advisable place. People at the reception desk were absolutely friendly and helpful. They gave us the information about how to get the temples and helped us to hire some bikes. High quality food. Everything we ate was really healthy and tasteful. Very clean air conditioned rooms.

Nice place to stay”

This is a nice hotel just a little outside of town. We had a clean room with air-condition. The staffs were all very warn and welcoming even though most of them do not understand any English with the exception of Nyi Nyi. He speaks excellent English and was very helpful. The food there was also very good. We had fish curry and vegetables.

Very friendly staff but overpriced resort”

Vesalius is well located and has a large nice property. The staff are so friendly and welcoming that they make up for a lot of other shortcomings with the resort. Food is good and safe (not always a given in Burma). That said, anything over 35USD is toouch for this place.

staffs are friendly but no wifi. there is a good view point on the back of hotel. 5 min. you can go there. if you use air-conditioner, you need to pay US$10 / day.

Dirty Rooms. Totally overpriced. ”

We stayed for 3 nights. Almost nothing was working in the dirty rooms. We were the only guests at this time in the hotel and the manager denied a room change (said that he is only staff and can't decide anything) Food is lousy and overpriced. We were ripped of when ordering drinks. This hotel is definitely a no go

Promised wifi was not available, the breakfast buffet was disappointing AS they only had 4 dishes and no fruit, there was no electricity from about 9 am to 6 pm, only one member of the staff spoke proper english
