The bed was huge and being able to use kayaks and a swinging bench overlooking the lake for free was great.

We saw a cockroach emerge from our bed as we were leaving. The location is also very far. The hammocks are also mostly broken and the swings in the water are also not in good condition.

It has lake front jetty. Kayaks and stand up board available free of charge. Price is very reasonable. Fridge in room. Smart TV (though I didn’t use it). Hot water is almost instant, which seems to be a problem of many accommodations (more expensive) in this town.

The room can be updated but most more important things we want were there. Mattresses were fine. Pillows are not good. Towels are old. Google map is not working well in this town and never can pinpoint the location even you know you’re nearby, you would still be spending time to find wherever you’re looking for. So there is a hotel signage on the main road (307), but you needs to go on this branched off rocky road to get to it.

This place is amazing, surrounded by a beautiful lake. it’s a bit far from the town, but it’s not a problem at all, 5 minutes driving.

I really didn’t like 1 thing - there is not only 2 dogs that mentioned above. but there is a poor Husky Gina, sitting 24/7 on a chain 2 meters long. Nobody walks her, nobody pet her, she was so happy every time I was coming to give her some attention. looking in her eyes you can see a deep depression of being so active breed and not being able to walk. this breed was born to run and pull the sled. if you are not happy with that and can’t handle her active nature - give her away to someone who will take care of her :( It was so hard to say goodbye to this poor soul.

The property itself is beautiful! The garden and pool area are beautiful! The best part of it was the dock and kayaks they provide for the guests.

The bathroom didn't have warm water most of the time and it is far away from the center. Luckily, taxis were reasonable so it wasn't a problem.

The room was spacious , clean, nice warm water and a small kitchen and fridge come very handy. Nice view of the lake. Has a beachfront.

The road reaching there could use some fixing 🙂

What drew me to Bacalar was the Lagoon. Karalv has direct access with a beautiful covered deck, lounge chairs, stools and tables to enjoy coffee or other meals during the day. There are kayaks for guests and swimming in the lagoon is breathtaking. There’s also a beautiful pool in the garden to enjoy the sunshine and lush landscaping. Sergio who takes care of reservations is the best! He’s able to answer any question you may have and gives excellent recommendations. He helped me many times while setting up tours and translating when my Spanish wouldn’t do, he speaks excellent English and is a wonderful man. The staff is genuinely kind, hardworking and a pleasure to chat with. If you need anything ask and it will be provided or you’ll be easily directed to where you can find it. One of my personal favorite features are the resident animals. They’re amazingly well behaved and each have their own cute personalities. Bruno will make sure your stay is safe as he looks after Karalv with watchful blue eyes. Don’t miss the peacocks as well! After staying for a week it was hard to leave this peaceful bit of heaven that provides many picturesque spots to enjoy nature with a book or camera. An easy taxi ride to downtown’s great bars, clubs, restaurants, shopping and as a perfect home base to return to after a long day of adventures (cool off in the lagoon under the moonlight). A visit here will leave a mark on your heart, already planning my trip back maybe I’ll see you there!

If you’re looking to spend time luxuriating in your room pass on this gem. However accommodations are clean, there’s efficient AC, Wi-Fi if you need it and the room has everything to prepare meals with a fridge to keeps them fresh. I had a beautiful view from my balcony complimented by table and chairs for taking meals outside. A huge bonus is all the fresh water on site you need to stay hydrated!

For the price - nice deal! A few steps from the water. Kayak free of charge. Pool included. Quiet, private deck on the water. Cute dogs and lovely birds. Just 4 minute drive from center bacalar .

But the room isint so well kept, not super clean, water pressure is almost zero. The pictures are no so up to date The room was desiged bad and abit dirty. The water at the kitchen sink never worked. The lights are white and ugly

The view, the swimming pool, the direct access to the lagoon, the kayaks and paddles… we definitely recommend this place. It made our whole experience in Bacalar even better. We went to the public access to the lagoon and it’s not the same. The room was clean, there are everything you need in the kitchen, coffee every morning.

It was a great location right on the lake but in a peaceful area with lots of dogs and peacocks around.

The room was a bit basic and cooking facilities limited as just one hot plate and we had to ask for saucepans and knives as we didnt have enough for 2 people. The bedding was clean but old so could do with a bit of renovation.

Nice hotel with a great view over the lake and a nice swimming pool. The room was basic but clean. The owners were super helpful and accomodating. Loved all the birds / cats and dogs.

About 30 minutes walk to town or a taxi ride to town - may be an issue for some. If you don't like dogs / animals this may not be suitable.

The dock is very nice an comfortable, it gives a wonderful view of the lagoon. They have kayaks to use for free. The rooms are spacious and have what you need. There’s private parking. The personnel is kind and helpful.

The wifi signal is good, but the internet is satellite, so it depends on weather conditions, we stayed during rainy days and it got extremely slow.

A definite disappointment. The only positive element is access to the lagoon in the form of a pier.

Not easy access, bumpy road, uninteresting neighborhood in total suburbs. Two large dogs appear as a greeting (one of them is clearly sick). Then the host comes - I have never seen such a sloppy host, who is surprised by our appearance and not very cooperative. It leads to a room that is old, dark and the equipment is of extremely poor quality - looking quite worn out. The bed is littered with old dirty sheets! The whole thing looked so bad that we decided to give up the accommodation despite paying in advance. After this decision, we asked booking.com for a refund (which of course is the decision of the host) but he did not even respond. We advise against this place, unless you are looking for a really cheap accommodation and do not care about quality or cleanliness.

Loved the location! Super stunning views and loved sitting on the dock and swimming. The kayaks are great and the rooms are comfortable. 10/10

it was pretty old but fascinating at the same time towels was very old … maybe too old! the air conditioner was noisy
