Spacious room with warmth, feels like home”

Spacious room, good location, warmth-helpful staff

We stayed at Vulcan Hotel to spend New Year in Sydney. It's one of the hotel that had the lowest price considering its location (and the fact it's New Year period!). The hotel used old building but has modern interior and rooms with complete utilities inside. The room we had very spacious with nice bed, good for us travelling with young children. The staff are friendly, warmth, and very helpful. Honestly, our stay was so smooth and it felt like your own home. Very easy to walk to few attractions in Sydney including Paddy's Market. Also easy if you want to take public transport, close to bus stop and 5-10 minutes walk to tram and train station. Strongly recommended!

Great location, excellent room, friendly service”

Position, large, well appointed room

My daughter and I had a fantastic time while staying for 2 nights at the Vulcan Hotel. The office staff were friendly, open and always at hand. They helped as when we needed it. There were food delivery services close at hand and had no difficulty accessing the hotel. The room we stayed in was excellent. Large TV, kitchenette, tea making facilities and comfortable chairs. The large bed was made with crisp linen sheets and plenty of pillows. Everything worked well (except the left hand bed side lamp's bulb didn't work - this was reported on leaving the hotel). Everything was clean and the staff were great at tidying and cleaning our room throughout the day. Access to the Hotel was easy on the main road for taxis and we were able to walk to main areas of Sydney. We would easily book this Hotel again and recommend it to our friends and family.

great location, but outdated hotel”

great location

Our stay at Vulcan was quite pleasant as reception and house cleaning were exceptional. location was convenient and 15min walk to the lovely Darling Harbour. The hotel is quite old and this can be seen in the worn-out paint on the walls, old carpets, and outdated bathrooms. Room was quite small but didn't bother me and my friend as our stay was quite comfortable. Would be happy to stay at the Vulcan again.

Great Service”

Friendly and caring staff, nice clean rooms, possible to walk to central station

very good, We were two people and we only stayed one night. The staff were very friendly and caring. Good value hotel. The only caveat I would add is that I think the Vulcan came up on an internet search for hotels in darling harbour, (this could be my fault for making a mistake with the search) but I would say it is quite a walk from darling harbour.

Fantastic. The staff went out of their way to ensure that my wife, daughter and I were comfortable during our stay. I work for Leighton's and travel to Sydney on business regularly. I usually stay at the Mantra in Chatswood and will look into whether I would be able to use the Vulcan Hotel as my preferred accommodation option.

ideal to see Sydney - on a budget

rooms were clean but small. Prices were ideal to spend money for seeing Sydney and having some Sydney oysters instead of Macdonalds special !! Breakfast was economic and set you up for the day. Ideally placed within walking distance of Darling Harbour or a bus along George St to Circular Quay/Sydney Central Station. On one day we took a bus to Bondi Beach - 25 minutes.

Lovely local hotel”

A very nice hotel, slightly further out than I would normally stay, but still only a short walk from central station and close to darling harbour. A nice big room with everything you need, very clean. It has a good cafe for breakfast and coffee during the day. It was great staying in a hotel where the owner came and chatted to you and you can ask advice about different things. Staff also very helpful.

great location”

modern budget stay

i would love to give this funky little boutique hotel 5 out of 5. it is central, clean, well designed and has a fab brekkie for $10 and under. staff are lovely and it is quiet... but... we checked in on a warm-ish night. the wall mounted air con was not working and there was a free standing air con unit in the room. it sounded like a 747 engine. we had a terrible nights sleep. i told staff in the morning and by the time we had breakfast they swapped the unit but it was still a free standing unit. it was cool that night so we did not need to use it. vulcan needs to fix the wall mounted units before this lovely hotel reaches its potential. i really hope they do as it is a fantastic place otherwise.

Good "Home" Atmosphere Attitude”

Quiet Surrounding Around Hotel

- Walk about 10-15min from Central Station. However, if you know the short-cut from Central Station to Vulcan, then less than 10min you will reach it. - Walk about 10-15min from Vulcan to Fish Market to have a great seafood brunch. - Walk about 5min from Vulcan to Paddy's Market to buy food in reasonable price. If you are a back-packer who is not willing to live in hostels like me, Vulcan can be a good choice. - Usually, you will boil water. However, the water container is too large. I cannot simply put under the water tap to collect water. And the TV set has problem, I cannot listen after several minutes......I am not sure whether the other rooms have the same problem. But I got the above problem in Room102. - Vulcan is located at School Areas. At the night time, the area is very quiet.

Boutique Bliss”

Great boutique hotel, extremely comfy bed, location to Inner West & the CBD great. My only suggestion would be to have the TV able to be viewed from somewhere other than the one position on the bed. Perhaps being on a rotating shelf or arm so it can be turned toward the arm chair etc would be great. Lastly, the description of my room said it had a bath and shower but when I checked in I found my room did not include a bath. Not sure if this is on the Agoda site end or Vulcan. Other than that this is a perfect inner city spot! Oh and they have Sonoma bread & Granola!! 🤩

Hotel reception close at 10pm

When I reserve by internet, I wasn't sure because the price was low compared to other hotels at walkable distance of all the principal attractions in Sydney. This small hotel surprised me and I even decided to stay one more night. Rooms are very cleans with new furniture, the persons at the reception were very helpfull and answered with pleasure to many questions I asked. Internet is not included but they let me have it for $10 for 3 days so almost free! There is a restaurant in the hotel but I haven't eat there.

NO WORRIES STAY!”

Friendly approachable staff service, standard comfortable rooms and good location/neighbourhood

Twin Room for siblings travelling to Sydney for a Qantas Credit Union Arena (Sydney Entertainment Centre) concert Very pleasant stay, from check in to check out. Staff Julia was very approachable and helpful. We checked in late in the evening at 9pm but her pleasantries and enthusiasm was very welcoming for us who spent all day travelling. She also offered alternatives to address our requests and to ensure we have a comfortable stay. The hotel is 10minutes walk from Central Station & Sydney Entertainment Centre which was the reason why we came to Sydney for a concert. The Hotel also offers Airport Shuttle in terms of accessibility. There's a convenient store /petrol station (Coles Express @Shell) just across the road from the Hotel for our snacks & drinks. The mini-bar could have offered Complimentary bottled water which we would appreciate but their tap water is potable. The beddings are quite comfortable, the room is very pleasant with complimentary Wi-Fi, Foxtel TV and the airconditioning is good! We would appreciate if there was alarm clock / wall clock in the room so we can tell the time~ we used our watches and mobile phone for that. Make-Room service was up to standards too. Check out was speedy and they also offered a Luggage Storage while we kill time in CBD awaiting our evening departure. Thank you for a very pleasant stay with no dramas at all. 👍

Exceptional”

My stay at the Vulcan was too short! I had an impeccable experience from the service at reception, he was extremely helpful and was so generous to upgrade my room as I needed to study during the night so he put me where I would be more comfortable. The room was perfect and clean. I have to go back and stay again as this place has left a great impression on me. I had a wonderful sleep too.

Lovely”

LOVED staying at the Vulcan. Had no idea Sydney had a Frank Gehry building until I read about it on Vulcan's to do tips. Really nice hotel in an area that's very accessible. Will definitely be coming back

Great Stay”

The location itself is awesome. It’s pretty much walking distance to everywhere — Central Station, Haymarket, Darling Harbour, etc. The room we got was clean and well-maintained. It’s simple yet cozy. We loved our stay :)
