We are very please to say that this resort is highly recommended! We had a fanstastic stay. However, we wish that someday they will have their own beach, clean up the ocean infront of the resort and have water activities to offer.

Waterfront hotel is one of my fave because I love the garden setting and the staff are friendly, polite and attentive to your needs. The only downside is that the room is a bit outdated however it’s always clean

      What a waste of a beautiful property!”
      My terrible experience with this hotel dates back to October 2018 and I just realised I can actually submit a review even if the booking was cancelled. I booked a deluxe room around September 2018 and that time I asked them if they have elevators for PWD guests. Still didn't receive a reply after a month and I had to follow up, only to be told they don't have elevators to access the deluxe room which I had paid for. A manager called me but I was astounded with her rudeness I had to ask for the issue to be escalated to their Gen Mgr, who wrote a seemingly canned response to tell me to continue our stay in a standard room (which is not what I paid for) and they'll give us free buffet. Nope. I would rather spend my money for some so-so hotel with an elevator, so-so facilities, and polite staff. I was refunded my money, but I'd like people to know they don't have elevators in their old building where the good rooms are in case they're bringing guests on wheelchair.

      Good place to stay at in the city of Davao. Ala carte food may kind of pricey, just know to share so you can save a little. Make sure to dine in La Parilla where staff are so nice and food is a little less expensive.

      Good but old”
      The waterfront insular was once the best hotel in Davao, but now, it's she is really starting to show. Good for families as the rooms are big and there's even a balcony. Food for breakfast was decent. Needs a major upgrade. The housekeeping are not that good. When we checked into our room, the bathroom was tidy, but not clean. There were strands of hair on the floor and it's clear that the bathtub wasn't even rinse out since the last guest checked out.

      AC not functioning well. Transferred rooms 3x but ended up using electric fan instead. Engineering went to check our AC, advised us that he'll adjust their main control, ended up waiting for almost 2 hrs for his ffup but nobody went back. Nobody even apologized for our inconvenience. We haven't slept properly because we're kinda sweaty because of the AC. Coffee cups, saucers & teaspoons have fingerprints. Ordered food but it was Served late & the food was cold already. The delivery guy was nice though for apologizing but we're still disappointed. upon checking the food was obviously cold. Probably they forgot to deliver it after cooking. The sizzling sisig's oil already hardened and the sizzling plate is cold already. We can't complain any longer because we're so hungry and they might deliver the food replacement late again. So we opted for the cold food that was delivered. Untensils delivered has hardened rice means it wasn't washed properly. We didn't really have a good stay.

      This is a slightly older hotel with a two story low-rise style, set in large gardens right on the water, with white sand beach. Very quiet, good breakfast buffet and evening meals. A little out of the way, but only a jeepney or short taxi ride to the heart of Davao. Staff are lovely and the rooms are spacious. I would, for sure, stay here again.

Actually the age of the hotel brings nice elements; such as wood floors in the rooms , and huge rooms... You down get that in new hotels ! Enjoyable visit !

      An unfortunate stay on a supposedly nice hotel”
      We booked 3rooms for a 2night stay with family & friends. Cons: the facility lacks appropriate attention to standard safety practices. The columns on the walkway from lobby to the rooms are way inside the boundaries of the aisles, with sharp corners. The aisles lack color coded edge boundaries. There is also lack of lighting, especially on walk/pathways to the beachside. One night we met a potentially fatal accident while walking on the said concrete pavement. One side was level with the manicured grass while the other side had a half foot elevation droo with the sand. At night, it's impossible to see what you are stepping on. My mother stepped on the edge of this part of the pavement and fell instantly flat on her face, with parts of her body hitting the sharp concrete edge. Front desk assistants were poorly trained & dont know how to turn over instructions. 2 of the rooms we got were right next to the stairway. We hear tap-like sounds on the walls whenever one passes by...

      The bungalow we stayed was old and in my opinion needs updating. Room was clean, i love the location of the hotel which is far from the hubub of the city although ut is within the city. What you can hear when at the hotel was birds chirping and relaxing waves, fresh air. It was quite relaxing. I would definitely book again if i will be in davao. I fully recommend this hotel.

      The rooms were clean but quite outdated , the bed and floor creaks . The room thermostat control does not seem to be working. Inside the room, there were snacks and water displayed on the countertop thus my husband asked if the snacks displayed in the room were complimentary snacks and the receptionist confirmed that those were indeed for free but we were shocked and dismayed that we were charged upon checkout. This may be an isolated case and a form of miscommunication but then we clearly asked about it . We don't mind paying the said amount if we were just told by the receptionist the time we asked . But i think what happened was just unfair especially when we asked clearly beforehand.

      Old, damp and musky”
      Check in. Slow. There was only one, but very friendly receptionist. Hotel room building. Smells strongly of damp old wood and carpet. Very smelly. Room. Deluxe premium. Faces the pool and sea. Amazing view. But still smells very damp and musky. It rained on the night of our stay and we had a leak! The room needs renovating and refreshing. It’s all damp and smelly, just as the stairs and hallways. The bathroom tiles need updating, as well as the balcony. The damp smell stuck to our clothes. We notified the hotel that we needed a cot for our 2 yr old way before we arrived. We reminded them about it again upon check in, and they said it’s all sorted. Hours and hours later (like 6 hours later) we were still waiting for it. Still no cot. We kept trying to call reception the whole day but no one’s answering the bloody phone. When evening came we had to go to reception and they told us it wasn’t available anymore. The screen sliding door going out to our balcony was also broken (it fell off). Room service. Non existent. They don’t answer the phone. Reception. Non existent. They don’t answer the phone. Kalaw room (went for an event that evening). Musky. Had a leak as well during our event. Customer service was pretty good. Pool. Omg. Murky. Dirty with lots of bugs, dirt and bunched up hair floating around in the kiddie pool. You cant see the bottom of the pool! Lots of towels available. Jacuzzi is working but water is cold. The adult pool is just deep. Deep all over. No shallow areas. Just deep. (10 feet). Loved the setup of the sun beds though. Breakfast. Lots of food choices. Everything is self service buffet including the the coffee 😂 Although staff kindly turned off the cold air-conditioning that was blasting on our table. Checkout. Slowest of the slow. Only two receptionists for a gazillion people trying to checkout at 11:30. (Checkout time 12:00noon) Overall, not coming back to stay overnight at all. The room wasnt a pleasant experience but the pool/grass

      We had trouble sleeping because we were getting bitten by mosquitos and ants. We didn't have any food inside other than the food and beverage at the bar provided by the hotel. Air-conditioning remained hot despite adjustments made at the controls and only got cooler about a few hours later. But everything else especially the food, location and facilities were good!

      It is so peaceful. It is far enough off the road to not hear any traffic. It is a beautiful place. We stay every time we come to Davao. We love it there. The only con is that the property needs a little love. Carpet in the hallway needs to be replaced. The balcony door in the first room we got, needs to be repaired, so it will lock. On the plus side, we brought our concerns to the front desk and they quickly found another room for us. This room was in great shape. We look forward to staying here next visit.

      The buffet breakfast has plenty of variety. Staffs are polite and friendly. Deluxe room is huge and clean. It's quiet eventhough there was wedding party in the garden . Beautiful luscious garden. This is just a paradise in the midst of the busy city. Accessible to cbd as there's heaps of taxi available. Front desk and front staff are helpful. Ilwe have had a delightful stay for 5 nights

      Decent but old”
      The hotel is worn out and definitely needs to be refurbished and possibly renovated. I wanted my kids to experience Insular hotel since this was part of my childhood. This was where my siblings and I together with our cousins learned how to swim in the deep pool. But to my surprise, the pool was practically unclean... I couldn’t say really dirty but it wasn’t well-maintained in the sense that the water was “green”. I was told by my kids that the floor of the pool was slimy. And it was unfortunate that my 9 year old had allergies after he swam. It must have been the chlorine. Yes, it had chlorine but swimming pool needs thorough cleaning. At least if it’s a hotel, it has to be regularly cleaned... daily as much as possible. The hotel was quite full when we checked in last Dec. 23 and sadly, we were able to go in our SECOND room at past 4pm even though check-in time was around 2pm. We had to wait for the key card to be updated. And when we asked for a late check out, the most they could give us was 1pm the next day. The coffee served in the breakfast buffet was also a flop. I expected so much from the hotel because in my memory, that was like the best hotel in Davao. But I have to remind my self that the hotel has been there for decades. I hope they can do some renovations, and repairs most especially with the air conditioners of the rooms. Unbelievably hot room. Before checking in, I’ve been told by relatives that the hotel has air conditioner problems; but, I thought maybe it was just like “bad timing for them”. However, they were all right. Our rooms’ aircon were not cold as expected in a hotel. My brother, who also got a room of his own had to transfer to another building in the late evening because their room’s aircon was not working. Imagine the hassle! I am not the type of writes negative reviews; but, in this case, it has to reach the management of Insular. They’ve got to do something about the swimming pool and the air conditioners.
